Not had a chance to look at them... have a spreadsheet that I put in the L/[280] for DL & LL, Fy, DL, LL, Span, Lu and select a W Section and it tells me if it's OK as a simple span for all the tests... I can cut and paste the last 5 items for the next beam...
Haven't used the tables yet, but they look incredibly useful...much easier to work with than Table 6-1, which I never quite got the hang of using. I wonder if AISC replaced Table 6-1 with something new or if they just produced back to back tables that do the same thing.
The 15th edition version is awesome. It replaced the hideous 14th ed. one with the lower case letters that represented (8/9)(1/phiMn), etc. The super tables seem to have the potential to replace a lot of Parts 3, 4, and 5. Maybe the 16th ed. will be thinner.
Another great addition to the 15th edition is the inclusion of all the smaller wide flanges in the "super" table 6-2. I use a lot of 6" and 8" deep posts and those haven't been included in the recent column tables so I would have to flip over to the 9th edition.
Be careful in the normal column tables. They have Fy=50ksi and Fy=65ksi tables and they look exactly the same other than a note at the top (where I am usually not looking). I wonder if including both strengths on the same table might have been better like was done with Fy=36 ksi and Fy = 50 ksi in the 9th edition.
