Error rates compared - Methodologies underpinning the European Commission’s risk at payment/closure and the European Court of Auditors’ estimated level of error
This study introduces Members of the European Parliament to the different estimates of the level of error affecting EU expenditure in cohesion policy. It explains how the European Commission calculates the estimated ‘risk at payment’ and ‘risk at closure’, how the European Court of Auditors calculates the ‘estimated level of error’ and how the two methodologies differ. The conclusion provides guidance on interpreting the different estimates.
2025 Commission work programme

On 7 April, IMCO will hold a public hearing on the safe internet use for minors. Industry stakeholders, consumer associations, national enforcement authorities, experts on children’s rights, data protection authority and the European Commission have all been invited to take part.

As part of the scrutiny exercised by the European Parliament on the implementation of the Rule of Law Conditionality Regulation, the Committees on Budgets (BUDG) and on Budgetary Control (CONT) will hold a public hearing on the lessons learnt from this mechanism and ways to make it more effective.

On 8 April 2025, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on International Trade will hold a joint public hearing on the implementation of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement in force since 1 May 2021.
