Editor's Note
Queer Regency...
Cale’s “Artemis” is a Regency-set historical that follows an actress and an Earl who need mutual rescuing— her from a bad situation, him from emotional turbulence. Cale’s writing is lush and detailed, with excellent queer representation.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a delightful and fun queer historical novella with transgender and bisexual main characters. The story is beautifully written and wraps up nicely, although some readers wished it was longer. The representation of LGBTQ+ individuals is heartwarming and the author is recommended for more stories like this. While there were a few minor editing issues, overall it is a great book that brings happiness and promotes acceptance.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Predictable but enjoyable. Fun listen. Nice to see queer characters living out the same cliche's as straight characters do
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Adored it! What a lot of readers don't get is that there are only so many ways to write a story about characters falling in love. There are different permutations on the characters' gender, Identity, race, the time period and situation but in the end what I think matters most is the story and how well written it is. I LOVED the writing, the style and the dialogue. Definitely going to be a reread.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Super predictable, completely undeveloped storyline. Took 12 chapters to get to the “big reveal” that was evident within the first few pages. Had promise with the lecherous cousin and his nefarious plans, which apparently ended at a snake in the bed that the heroine forgot about?? Not a fan; would not recommend.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5loveeeeeeeeeeeee right in the feels! for people with body dysmorphia know that they handle it fairly well and i have no real critiques! i wish it were longer so freaking sweeet. i've listened to it twice alreadyyy
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderfully refreshing novelette that includes gender identity in a historical context. Lively
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While not long enough, it was a good story. Two people come together for different reasons to marry, but find happiness. A Trangender who thought they could never have sexual relations and a pregnant Bisexual female who preferred women over men find happiness together.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ms. Cale: Great story and could have been longer with more detail. Do write more such stories of family members/generations of the saga. Please insist on better editing. Snakes are not poisonous unless you try to eat them. We all make boo boos but that is why editing is so important.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wish this book was longer!! We know there has to be Trans people in history and it was amazing to see the representation. It was such a heartwarming story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful and fun. Even though one can tell where the story is going there is happiness in reaching the climax.?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a great book, highly recommend it. Beautifully written story, live and let live
