Katie MacAlister

Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie MacAlister spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. When she was contracted to write a nonfiction book about software, her editor refused to allow her to include witty dialogue or love scenes, so Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, in which she could indulge in world building, tormenting her characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and are regulars on the New York Times, USA TODAY, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell. Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest. You can visit her website at KatieMacAlister.com.

The heroine is written as a strong, independent, and strongwilled person, but later discovers there is more to herself than she had originally thought. The author shows that even though a person’s past has been rough and torturous, the pain of it will inevitably cause strength. When there is belief in ones’ self and the power of love on their side, there is nothing they cannot overcome. This is truly a wonderful book. The author has written the characters, so that they become a 3 dementional person in your mind. You do not feel as you are reading it, but more like you are watching as the story takes place. The author adds a paranormal side to the story, that seems to blend perfectly with the storyline. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a strong female character or enjoys a good paranormal romance.

Cute and funny vampire romantic adventure. I really like that the heroine is not perfect.

Allie is a summoner, not a very successful one. A woman who has managed to get herself out of a bad marriage, not before having to deal with the death of her brother and the death of her husband. She is visiting England and trying to find her place in the world. Then she meets with Dante and a lot of her assumptions are changed. It's fun sometimes and the two characters spark off each other well. However I'm not sure that she won't slap him at some stage for being a bit stupid about her. If you're a fan of Katie MacAlister this will amuse, however it's pretty predictable.

After I finished this book I realized that I read this out of sequence in a series the author must be writing. I read her book Sex, Lies and Vampires a little while back which takes place after this one.I really enjoyed the story. The author keeps her paranormal/vampire romances a bit on the lighter side and there were scenes which made me chuckle. This story is about a summoner of ghosts and demons named Allegra who is still coming into her powers. She has dreams of finding a dead man and feels that she is meant to release his spirit. When she actually finds her dream guy she discovers that he is not really dead, just a vampire, and has no desire or need for the releasing of his spirit. It turns out Allegra is the "Beloved" of the vampire, although both parties are too stuborn to see it at first. If you like paranormal/vampire romances along with a bit of laughter I would highly recommend this book.

Funny. I also like that the heroine had a physical problem (deformed leg). I would have liked to see a little more of Christian, he seemed a bit flat.

This is sequel to the first "Dark Ones" series, in this book Christian sets out to find his beloved. Instead he gets an overbearing and not in the least what he expected women, who doesn't want him. She is a ghost summoner and during her adventures in London she lands herself into a sticky situation, one in which her Dark One must help her out of.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the last one. It didn't have the same humor the other book contained. Her sarcastic characters stayed the same but there were no laugh out loud moments. Also the steamy scenes were really nothing more the warm water in my opinion. I just didn't feel what I wanted to feel between Christian and his beloved. Ill give the next one a try in hopes she can redeem herself.

The ghosts. The ghosts cracked me up. She wanted ghosts and she got ghosts. And she got all the baggage and problems the ghosts brought with them.

Yeah, yeah, Dark One, Beloved, whatever. Still think it's stupid. Still in it for the humor, the characters, and the found-family.

This is the story of Allegra and Christian. It's not my absolute favorite, because they get together too easily at the beginning. Still, fun, like most of the Katie MacAllister books...
