He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Saint Louis University, Saint Louis, Missouri; a Master of Arts in theology from the Society of Jesus College of Divinity, Saint Louis, Missouri; and a doctorate in computer education and information systems from the United States International University, San Diego, California.
