- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cat enthusiasts will enjoy this graphic novel featuring cat reporters telling about the things about which cats care. Some of the strips strips seem a bit more forced than others, as if the author was drawing a blank and needed to meet a deadline. Others were quite funny. Most cat owners can relate to the things in this book--moths and other bugs encountered, making the bed, reactions to the visiting cat at the window (or door), moving the furniture and finding all the lost cat toys, getting used to the new baby, etc. I'm sure people who follow the series are more familiar with the cats, but one of them looks more like a rabbit to me. I'm certain I'll sit down with the book and enjoy it again in the future.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5For cat lovers everywhere!Highly recommended.I was given a digital copy of this book by the publisher Andrews McMeel Publishers via Netgalley in return for an honest unbiased review.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Okay, cat humor is inane, but at least this made me chuckle a few times. It probably would have been better in small doses rather than read all at once.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5cat humor (comic format).
Cute and funny, even if you're not the biggest fan of cats. From kibble to spiders to cardboard boxes and packing peanuts, this is all the news that matters to cats, as reported by cats. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Breaking Cat News is full of the earliest comic strips, so our intrepid reporters, Elvis the Siamese, Puck the black cat, and Lupin the white cat don't look quite as they do in 2021. One may see Ms. Dunn's style evolving through the pages. These three cats live in an apartment with their humans, a couple whom they refer to and address as "man" and "woman". When the woman's sister is cat-sitting, they call her "the intruder".The couple's son is born later in the book. It's fun to read the cats' different reactions to the baby.Everything is from the viewpoint of the cats, although the humans' dialog clues readers into what's going on from our viewpoint. My favorite page is 84, where Puck asks the man about his shower. The friend who introduced me to the strip and sent me the books thinks the strip on pp. 102-103 describes how this summer is going. One can tell that the couple don't mind taking in disabled cats. Puck is missing his right hind leg and Lupin is deaf (Lupin reads whiskers, etc.).None of the other cats in the strip appear in this book except for Tommy, who is a nameless cat talking to them through their window. Don't let the tiny clothes, tiny microphones, and in Lupin's case, the tiny hat fool you. If you've ever lived with cats, you'll know these are cats. This is book for cat lovers, cat haters (who will doubtless consider their worst suspicions confirmed), and the cat curious.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cats in suits, cats with microphones, cats at the news desk and cats chasing strange red spots. Cats that can’t report the news because they’re asleep in the curious patch of light. And cats that want bacon. The cats in these fun cartoons may not look entirely catlike but their surely and totally feline in nature and behavior. Meanwhile their humans, like cat lovers everywhere, spoon comfortably, share the bed reluctantly, wake up when they’re told, and perform all those much desired human actions that keep felines happy. Then… well, you’d have to read the book to find out what happens, but it’s nicely told from a consistently feline point of view and it’s great fun. Enjoy!Disclosure: My son bought it for my mum, and Mum correctly predicted that I’d enjoy it too.

Read Harder 2018: A comic that isn't published by Marvel, DC, or Image - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5***This book was reviewed for Netgalley***‘They're battery operated and remote controlled by Satan.’ ~Elvis, on June bugsHumour books are not usually my forte. I prefer fantasy, hist-fic, and archaeology for the most part. Every once in a while a book of humour will snag my attention, though, and this was one of those books whose humour I could appreciate. In Breaking Cat News, Dunn gives us a glimpse inside the minds of her three furry companions- Lupin, Elvis, and Puck. She does an excellent job of portraying each kitty’s unique personality, especially Elvis, the Siamese! Lupin looks to be a fluffy white Persian, and Puck a black shorthair. This lovable, high-energy trio gets into everything! Cats can be so curious, and so full of energy. And always on the wrong side of the door! I loved the segment where the Woman is in a room with the door closed. First Puck is there, being generally nosy, and batting under the door. In the next frame, all three are there. Ohh, I've so had that happen. My goofy goober cat follows me everywhere. The segment where the woman is trying to make the bed is hysterical. Sephie loves being a lump under our covers like that. We have to be extra careful not to sit on her. * snerk * Elvis looks like a lion when he puffs up, and he puffs up at a lot!Anyone who is kept by cats will appreciate this little gem of cat-centric humour. Breaking Cat News by Georgia Dunn is a must have for cat-lovers everywhere.
