      Very insightful book on the workings of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One of the insights that I had never thought about before is found on page 18-19 and it is repeated again in other places in the book. It reads, "Every gift is important, but notice where it begins: the word of wisdom and knowledge come first. They're the foundation upon which all the other operations of the Spirit are built, because these gifts reveal God's will, purpose and plan." (Speaking on 1 Corinthians 12, particularly verse 8). This makes sense! How can one operate in the gifts of the Spirit effectively without wisdom and knowledge? I believe some believers operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit without even realizing it, just as one could have a natural ability and do well with their skill without having proper training. However, I believe if we want to mature in our gifts and callings, then we will require wisdom and knowledge in the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that God has given to us as believers.

      This book will help you to obtain more wisdom and knowledge in operating and discerning the gifts of the Spirit in your own life, as well as the lives of others.

    DEDICATION

    To the World Wide Victory Family of Churches which was birthed in revival, during a great outpouring of God’s Spirit in Canada, in the late 1970s. Since the inception of the Victory movement we have seen powerful miracles of salvation, healing and deliverance, with all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit being manifest in powerful, life changing ways.

    My wife and I have learned much about the gifts of the Holy Spirit over the last thirty years and we desire to pass this knowledge and understanding on to the generations to come. We believe that those who come behind us will be able to capitalize upon our learning and cultivate the gifts of the Spirit in their own lives in even greater ways than what we have been able to do.

    We thank God for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which give us a foretaste of the powers that belong in their fullness to an age which has yet to come (Hebrews 6:4-5). Every politician and world leader would love to have these gifts in operation in their lives and the good news is they can, and so can you!

    INTRODUCTION

    This book was released in 2009 in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the first church that my wife and I planted in 1979, which is also our 30th anniversary in fulltime ministry.

    The Victory Movement was birthed in revival! Over the last 30 years it has expanded into over 40 nations of the world with thousands of churches, a network of Bible Colleges and numerous creative outreach ministries.

    During our first 9 months of fulltime ministry, my wife and I saw remarkable miracles of salvation, healing, deliverance, restoration and divine intervention. Then, after those first 9 months, the extreme power and supernatural manifestations of God’s Spirit began to wane. I talked to the Lord about it and He spoke these words into my heart, This is a foretaste of what you will see in its fullness at a later date in your ministry. We have seen the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit operate all the way through our ministry, but never with the same kind of power and intensity as at the beginning of this movement.

    Many revivals have been either limited or short lived because of a lack of purity, maturity, faith or leadership. There is always a proving and a preparation time before a promotion time.

    I believe the Lord has been proving and preparing people all over the world, for the last great outpouring of His Spirit to bring into the Kingdom the greatest harvest of souls this world has ever seen. This will usher in the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, be patient brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain (James 5:7).

    Jesus entered into His earthly ministry at 30 years of age - He had 30 years of preparation for 3 years of ministry. This year, 2009, is our 30th year of ministry, which I believe has been preparatory for what the Lord is about to do. I believe this year will be the beginning of the fulfillment of the word the Lord spoke to my heart 30 years ago. The foretaste has been an appetizer to help to endure and prepare us for the ‘real meal deal’ that lies ahead.

    The kind of double portion anointing that Elisha received is protected by tests, trials, and temptation. Only those who are totally committed to God and willing to follow Him wherever He leads, will ever enter into it! It’s not for the lazy, the disobedient or the careless. It’s for the hungry and the thirsty, the diligent and the obedient.

    Look what happened when Jesus had a group of 120 fully committed disciples together in one place, in one accord, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting (Acts 2:2).

    I believe God has prepared leaders and small groups of totally dedicated people from all over the world, for what is about to happen in the last great outpouring of His Spirit.

    This book will help you to know how to co-operate with the Holy Spirit, so His gifts and power will be able to operate through you to fulfill His end time purposes.

    Jesus is building His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. This is a guarantee of success! Jesus is coming back for a glorious, victorious church which is the Pearl of Great Price.

    It’s time for Jesus Christ’s great Intercessory prayer for the church in John 17 to be answered. That we would be one as the Father and the Son are one and that the glory that is upon the Father and the Son would be upon us, that the world would know that Jesus is the Son of the living God! It’s time for the manifestation of the sons of God (Rom 8:19), and the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in an unprecedented way.

    It’s my time!

    Chapter 1

    Understanding and Desiring Spiritual Gifts

    Now, concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I don’t want you to be ignorant (1 Cor. 12:1).

    Paul warns us not to be ignorant of a number of things. Interestingly enough, these are the very topics the church has neglected to teach. One such subject is the gifts of the Spirit. God doesn’t want the church to be ignorant of spiritual gifts because they are the very power of God operating through a Christian life.

    The cure for ignorance is knowledge. If we are going to cultivate the gifts of the Spirit in our lives, we will need to understand what they are, how they operate and how we can begin to function in them. In this book, we will endeavor to remove the confusion that has clouded this subject and equip you to walk in the fullness of the call that God
