'The Only Woman in the Room' is an extraordinary fictional tale of Hollywood star, Hedy Lamarr, famous for her beauty and acting. In the early nineteenth century, Hedy Lamarr was a glamorous actress who commanded the silver screen. But she was much more than a pretty face or a talented actress. Her father was a bank manager who appreciated her intelligence and encouraged her in all things.
Hedy's father had understood early in 1933 that there were political dangers and growing anti-Semitism in Europe, from where the story begins. He encouraged his daughter to date and then hoped that she would marry an older suitor. He was Freidrich Mandl, an arms merchant and munitions manufacturer from Vienna, Austria. Mandl belonged to a group of the most influential people in the nation at that time. Lamarr's father had hoped that Mandl would be the family's ticket to safety if the political scenario in the country went
