About this ebook

Baring My Heart is the 3rd Collective Poetry Book by Sail Publishing. In this book, our poets have dived right into their deepest vulnerabilities, and bared their hearts with us, to share some of the most intimate feelings, thoughts, and emotions, in an act that only a brave and courageous poet can do. It’s in such sharing, that we all can feel redeemed, seen, and validated. And so we hope in this book, you will see fragments of yourself in it, and feel that you too have the courage to bare your heart to us. Authors: Fatma Al Madani, Maryam Albastaki , Meera Y. Albusmait , Dr. Roshni Ajeesh , Saleh Al Braik , Sara Nizar Abuljadayel , Sarah AlNuaimi

Baring My Heart - Multiple Authors

    Fatma Al Madani

    Fear

Fear is a complex to go through

Sometimes it catches you off guard

While other times, it’ll hunt you

    But here’s a challenge

    My dear fellow,

Don’t take this as a competition

But a time to heal all aspects of it

    Upon Me

    Bring peace upon me

    As I plead in desperation

Clear the scared soul within me

    As I ask with grace

Fill me up with hope in ease

    And push the sorrow unseen

    Create an illusion

    For me to dream

    She

She helplessly dragged her body to the hallway

She thought she ruled the world by entering the doorway

Suddenly lost the track of getting back to its origin

Flipped the pages to find its collision

So, she started to fill the void

In hopes to fill the choice

    That was once spoiled

    In an exploit

    Cold as Snow

    Cold at home

    As I started to show

    The side that I lost

    From disappearance, I thought

    Cold as snow

I had to show the side of me

The lost side of the track

That fainted into to my arms

As I walk through the corridors

    Watching you shiver

    Shivering

    Too lost in sight

    You shiver

    Again, from my sight

    A Once-Stolen Dream

    I had a dream

    That was stolen once

    Sweet like a cream

But with fear it got swollen

    Fading away

Never reached out to hold it

And it was at that moment

    I knew I lost it

    Mirror, Mirror

    Mirror mirror on the wall

Who’s the luckiest of them all

Pick all the grapes off the yard

Take care of it but don’t leave it scarred

    Mirror mirror on the wall

Who captured your heart so far?

I became a star once afar

Then built a house in Montréal

Caught the mice in a hall

    Then flew back to Nepal

    Mirror mirror on the wall

    Can’t you see the medal?

Was kept high on the table

    Right next to the devil

    Threw it accidental

    All in gentle

    Mirror mirror on the wall

Who’s the luckiest to break you all in parts?

    Nonsense Sense Lungs

Goosebumps reached up to my lungs

    With its essence felt depart

Kept them wide open with a glance of hope

But melody failed to destroy the void

    I played the notes deviously

Unaware of the grown mistletoe in a harmony

    Diverted branches with each hoop

That I must surpass with its room

Air was crafted with its strength

As labor was defeated to feed

I kept yawning in desperate for a closure

That is yet to be relieved in moisture

Took Me A While to Find You

I fear that a day comes

    When you appear

    Filling me up then disappear

    Trusting you with my heart

Then doubt you with my mind

    Messed up soul

Into broken pieces of my past

    You came for a reason

Then introduced yourself in each season

Given the luxury that I needed

    While I pleaded

    To get them

    So, I took your soul

    And intertwined it with mine

    Made you feel like heaven

    While I sigh

    Felt close to you

As your soft touches never left mine

Yet I couldn’t define the true you

    That was left behind

I sighed, then closed my eyes

    And allowed time to fly

Felt delighted upon the intense gaze

I must never return the favor you had engraved

Shall I free myself to claim

A behavior you had once traced

    Behind the scenes
