Description
The book of the moment for today’s episode is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Just a forewarning for those of you listening, this is NOT a spoiler-free zone. We will be discussing this book in all of its glory, which of course includes revealing the ending.
For some of you, hearing the title of the book alone is enough to send you sobbing, which is exactly why we have chosen to cover it in today’s episode. The Song of Achilles first entered our shelves because of BookTok’s obsession with the classical retelling of the well-known Greek story, and we are excited to discuss it together, here, with you.
The author of Achilles, Madeline Miller is originally from Philadelphia. She has a BA and MA from Brown university in Latin and Ancient Greek, and has taught in both languages. She also studied at Yale School of Drama, specializing in adapting classical tales to a modern audience. The Song of Achilles is actually her first novel.
