- Synopsis
- Dr. Anton Phibes (Vincent Price) is a genius who specializes in organ music, theology, and concocting bizarre deaths for anyone who wrongs him. Discovering why is half the fun, so for now let's just say that Phibes is a little mad and very, very angry. With his assistant, the lovely, silent Vulnavia, Phibes begins cutting a gory swath through London's medical community, with the dogged Inspector Trout hot on his tail.

- Critics' reviews
-
-
"It has, incidentally, a really well thought out revenge plot, directed by Robert Fuest with tons more style and assurance than he brought to Wuthering Heights."
-
"A delightfully goofy horror film."
-
"Anachronistic period horror musical camp fantasy is a fair description, loaded with comedic gore of the type that packs theatres and drives child psychologists up the walls."
-
"Often amusing, occasionally sickening, always impressive for the imaginative Art Deco sets, it's pretty flatly directed."
-
"Full of gaudy Art Deco excess, surprise charm and sardonic violence, this deadpan send-up is a classy fright delight."
