Loveable Surrey RSPCA rescue dogs looking for home this Christmas including long stay resident of 2,000 days
These dogs are desperate for a loving home and one has been waiting for almost five years
This Christmas, one dog in a Surrey rescue will have spent five years living in a shelter. While many of us are celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with family and friends, some dogs have never experienced the joy of waking up on Christmas Day with a family of their own.
At the RSPCA Milbrook shelter in Chobham, there are currently 11 dogs of all sizes in need of a home. Some of the crew are long stay residents, and if you may even recognise them if you have read previous SurreyLive articles featuring these adorable pups.
Floyd has been described as "lovely" and is a big softie who loves walks and is house trained. He has lived in shelter for 2,000 days, and is looking forward to finding his own home.
Another long stay resident is Brandy, who is a complete love bug. She can be nervous around new people but once is comfortable she is happy and loves to play and run around.

Those applying to adopt a dog should fill out the application form as honestly as possible, and share their previous experience with dogs and what their home life is like. While applicants can name the dog they are most interested in, volunteers will likely match applicants to the dog they think will fit in best with their lifestyle.
Nico, two, Staffie mix.
Super affectionate and cuddly, and thinks he is a lap dog despite weighing 30kg.
He enjoys saying hello to other dogs while walking on the lead. Currently Nico is living in a foster home.
Nico cannot live with children, and needs to live in a quiet area. He is frightened of traffic so would prefer a countryside home.

Trixie, 18 months old, Jack Russell Terrier.
As Trixie is a young dog from a working breed she is very energetic and needs lots of exercise.
She loves water and enjoys swimming. Trixie is also social around dogs.
The centre advises that Trixie would need a foster to adopt pathway, to gradually get her used to her new home.

Daisy, nine months old, Chihuahua cross.
Little Daisy was found living in a car with four dogs and five cats. She can be nervous but will build a strong bond once she begins to trust new people.
A quiet home will be perfect for Daisy while she learns to build her confidence with dogs, people and unfamiliar surroundings.
As she is young, Daisy needs lots of exercise. She also will benefit from training classes.

Floyd, five, Lurcher.
After 2,000 days living in shelter, Floyd is ready to find his forever home. He loves a fuss and is described as a big softie. and a good boy.
He needs to wear a lead and muzzle while out walking, which he is used to. This is because he was part of a prosecution case.
Floyd loves walks and other dogs, and running around off lead so a garden is a must. He travels well and will fall asleep on the back seat.

Nina, four, Akita.
This fluffy girl has been in the shelter for a little while, and is still waiting to find a home. Nina loves a fuss, and is an independent dog.
She could live with children of secondary school age or younger. Nina is also good with other dogs but doesn't like when dogs run up to her and can get worried.
Nina would like to walk in quiet areas and would like to be the only dog in her new home. She can be left alone for short periods, and may need some training to gradually build up that time.
