Rare Beauty’s Liquid Blush has developed a devout following, though its seemingly sudden cyber-stardom shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as “glazed” beauty is simultaneously inspiring makeup lovers to swap matte products for dewy liquids—blushes and bronzers in particular. According to consumer data from global shopping and payments service Klarna, cream blush is actively replacing powder, and sales of the product have risen by 69% in the past month alone.
The anti-matte movement, combined with Rare Beauty's TikTok acclaim—“rare beauty blush” and #rarebeautyblush have amassed a combined 1.5 billion views on the platform—means the product has become one of the most coveted beauty products of the year. Even experts agree that as far as liquid blush goes, this one lives up to the hype.
“The Rare Beauty liquid blush became so popular because of the its consistency,” New York City makeup artist Molly Thompson-Tubridy tells Glamour. Other liquid formulas aren't as pigmented or they're too runny. Rare’s version feels more like a cream, which makes for less mess and less wasted product. “I bought the mini version of the blush last Christmas, and I still have over half a bottle left,” she says.
The obsession is great news for Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez, for whom we’re never not rooting, but not so much for those of us who can't track down a tube in any color, particularly in Happy, a perfect pink that's the star of the range. This is where TikTok's devoted beauty sleuths come in. After much trial and error, dupe-detectives have uncovered what they insist is a “perfect” and “affordable” alternative: Revolution Beauty’s Blush Bomb. And it's only $8.

“The Revolution Beauty blush is a perfect dupe,” says Thompson-Tubridy, who has tried both blushes, though she has noticed a slight difference in pigment, as she often needs to apply more layers than she would Rare's version. The difference in price—Revolution's is $12 less than Rare's—more than makes up for it, she says.
As for what TikTok users think? It's safe to say they're obsessed, both with the color match and its affordability, resulting in Revolution Beauty's Blush Bomb trending on the app itself. So whether you're looking for a more affordable option or waiting for Rare Beauty's liquid blush to come back into stock (or both?), Revolution Beauty's Blush Bomb has you covered.
