Beeindruckende Tage in Lijiang
More

A Very Memorable Visit to Shanghai.
We arrived in Shanghai on 30 Oct 2024 to the announcement that Shanghai would be hit by a severe typhoon on 1 Nov. But that did not faze our wonderful guide, Winnie! She reorganised our itinerary to max the time we had before the typhoon arrive which would have stopped all activities. Meeting us at 8.30am, she whisked us to Shanghai Tower - so that we could beat the morning crowd to get up to the observation deck on the 118th floor and take in the breath-taking view before the rolling fog reduced all visibility! Lunch was a v delicious meal of local treats at a famous local bistro after a tour of the Shanghai Museum. Winnie was so thoughtful, she even bought us a green bean soup each for us old folks to hydrate ourselves through the afternoon. Plus - a very pretty pumpkin pastry to celebrate Halloween! We spent the afternoon walking along the Bund with Winnie explaining the history and significance of the different buildings and a tour of the French Quarter after that. All these could not have been done the next day when the typhoon brought gusty wind and heavy rain. Because of Winnie's initiative and hard work on 31 Oct, we got to see the Shanghai we came to visit! Kudos to you, Winnie! More

1. Spend a Day at Tel Aviv's Museums
Tel Aviv is likely where you'll start your time in Israel, as this is where most international flights come into the country.
For a trip in November, we recommend spending some time walking around in Tel Aviv, but also visiting some of its many brilliant museums. You could start at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, head over to the Ilana Goor Museum, then visit the ANU Museum of the Jewish People, and finally go to the Eretz Israel Museum.
End the night with some local Israeli food at one of the many incredible restaurants in the city, or even go for rooftop drinks to take in the cityscape.

2. Explore Jerusalem by Foot
Given that November's temperatures are pleasant but still warm, we recommend spending some time exploring Jerusalem by foot. There are plenty of walking tour itineraries that you can follow, or one of our Global Highlights experts can put together the ideal tour for you.
Through the Old City, to the Western Wall, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, and the Tower of David Museum of Jerusalem, there is so much to see in this historically significant city.
3. Relax and Float on the Dead Sea
November is a great time of year to visit the Dead Sea, with very comfortable temperatures. For more information on what to during your time there, and to prepare you for your swim, read more in our piece about Israel's Weather in October.
4. Dive in the Red Sea at Eilat
Eilat is one of the best diving spots along the Red Sea, and is a great destination for both beginners and more advanced divers. There is great visibility all year round, and the temperatures in November mean that it is still possible to dive and swim in pleasant waters even though its technically winter.
There are a range of different diving spots, some closer to the shore and a few further out, depending on whether you'd like to focus on seeing colorful coral reefs, or whether you're more interested in diving to a shipwreck. There is something for every type of diver in Eilat.

Low Season: Fewer Crowds and Lower Cost
November is off-peak for tourists, meaning the most popular tourist destinations are less busy with crowds, and you can likely find better deals when it comes to accommodation and travel. This is yet another reason why November is a great time of the year to visit Israel.
Please bear in mind that every Friday evening through to Saturday throughout the day marks the Sabbath in Israel. This is an important day of religious observance and abstinence from work, and as a result businesses are closed every Saturday, also in November.
What to Wear in November
November's weather in Israel is warm, but some cities can see a slight drop in temperatures in the late evenings. This is why we recommend bringing an extra layer of clothing that you can bring along to wear if you end up staying out into the evening.
For the day-time, you'll be happy wearing cotton trousers or jeans with a shirt, or a t-shirt, and in the evening you might want to add a cardigan or a light jumper to this. This is especially the case if you are visiting towards the end of November into early December.
There is still a decent amount of sunshine during the day, and we recommend bringing and wearing SPF, particularly on your face and if you are planning on heading to the sea to dive. For those looking to go on some longer walks, sturdy footwear is also recommended to ensure you can see everything without getting blisters or hurting your feet.
