And it introduces characters that will continue into Cress - most notebly Carswell Thorne - whom I would not want to miss one second of. I've just re-read them and I would say that the issue with Scarlet is that not enough stuff happens in it, it takes place during something like a week and there is a bit to much filler to get a full book (in my opinion) - it's a quick read thou.
Fairiest could be skipped if you want, the things important to the rest of the story are in the "regular" books - It's for those of us who can't get enough Levana and/or background(less)
