Although I liked his and Jane's story, he never was a favourite and quite frankly, if he was, he certainly wouldn't be now due to the EXCESSIVE amounts of OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES given to his development. I mean, I love Ward but really? Don't hate him but could cut down on the V in my opinion :)(less)

The story features one 'new' couple and one 'old' couple. The new couple have been introduced, and have history, from previous books. This history is rehashed in the book, but makes more sense if you already know it. The 'old' couple has had not only their own book early in the series, their relationship has been told through other books as well.

And not only that; but several continuing plot points, characters and history does not really make this a good standalone story even if you are somewhat familiar with the series. Earlier books weren't as intermingled as the later ones in the series has become.(less)
