Really, very enjoyable. Full of warm fuzzies and intense feelings and, you know, rumpy pumpiness.
And yet...and yet....
About every 10 pages or so I had to shake my head and marvel over the fact that I was reading about Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy BONING each other.
I love enemies to lovers, I even love the idea of Drarry--but part of my head sees them as kids still. Also, part of my head views Harry like a nice kid I watched grow up and should I really be reading about that kid's leaking cockhead?
A continuation of the story started in "Reparations", I loved this one even more. Yes, it was long, but I never felt that "god, is it over yet?" feeling that comes all too often with longer fics.
I loved Clive and surprisingly, I even grew to love Narcissa Malfoy just a tiny bit in this one.
Sure, there were moments I just wanted to force Draco and Harry to TALK TO EACH OTHER already (where is a nice closet when you need one?), but I guess that's normal for men like these, who have gone through so much. Especially Draco, I imagine communication of feelings was NOT looked upon kindly in his family.
This fic also made me shed a few tears, got a few laughs, and made me sigh at the love between Harry and Draco.
By now I think everyone knows that I am a Drarry fan. I liked this book better than the first (reparations); there were just so many little, good things about this book that really resounded with me. I loved the strong presence of Narcissa, and Harry's hilarious attempts to woo her over with wrongly pronounced Latin phrases ( 'archaic pureblood crap' ) and it's in this book that we see the true development of Harry and Draco's remarkably rocky romance. They're both shit at communication, they're both stubborn fools and they're just so fucking perfect together. It's so heartwarming to see them so domesticated, with these little Saturday and Sunday rituals, with their little private phrases (where 'yes' is practically synonymous to 'i love you') and it just feels so realistic.
Rather than having a grand plot, this book is really just them in their ordinary life with their little dramas and relationship mishaps. The thing that really pushes this book to the 4.5 are these special little aspects of the book like the symbolic piece of string, pera gratia, Thursday Pity Flapjack Tradition... but as a book as a whole, it's probably not as strong as I would've liked.
It's a wonderful book, but not one I'd be demanding you to read at cyber gunpoint.
Es un clásico del fandom y aunque me gusta mucho la autora me ha costado HORRORES acabarlo porque no sé en qué momento perdí el interés por lo que pasa. MUY largo.
4.5 So long, so much investment, so worth it. This was nice it's too long to be a comfort read but that's really what I his felt like. It's so comfortable and sweet but not sugar coated by any means, it's everyday life, low drama in the HP world. It felt realistic in its setting and characters felt familiar, (Rita is just as obnoxious here as in JKRs works). One thing I would like to note is it's been YEARS since I read HP or HP fan fics, but Harry and Draco really do feell "grown up". These are not the same boys from th series but are instead excellent interpretations of the men you could see them become. Saras_Girl is extremely talented, I would not be surprised to find she's a published author. A lovely sequel to an excellent fic, but definitely not a stand alone.
A great sequel! I love the way they describe nonverbal communication - and communication in general, it feels very authentic and is absolutely endearing and sweet :) It was fun to read so much more about these characters after Reparations, they really managed to just continue seamlessly and find new interesting ways for the characters to develop. I think they created a very special, unique story for these characters :)
What a lovely sequel this was, I adored every minute of it. Even if there were times I stepped away due to the length I didn’t stay away long. Amazing writing, wonderful world building and the coming together of two characters who fit each other so well. The romance and sex were meted out in equal measure, and the two were as interesting separately as they were together. The dilemma with Clive was heartbreaking but satisfied in the best possible way (and not lightly done I’m happy to say), and all our characters grow. What a well-rounded love story!
I read the rest of the series, (though not listed on Goodreads) on Archive of our Own and there are 13 fics altogether. Most of the rest after the first two are short stories:
Attention The Art of Slythern Napping The Significance of Draco Malfoy Detestable logic Festive Fundamentals Falling Slowly Since I Lost You Cupboard Love Draco Malfoy Versus the Knitting Harry Potter Day Comhla (actually I still have this one to read as of this ‘review’)
Once again I will say, this author should be published! I have gotten so much enjoyment from her work and I think I will be sad when I’ve read them all!
I finished reading this book with a HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE. This was my first book for 2015 and boy was it a doozie. It is going to be a tough act to follow. Let me just say that is book is free fan fiction but it is so well written. I cannot wait for the author to continue this series. I loved everything about it. I hope the next book in this series will be out soon. It was really really good. LOVED IT!!!
Great relationships, rounded characters, strong feels. Too long, too many effing sex scenes and little plot. That rounds it up.
So, let's start with the characters: they're all beautifully described, to the point where I can sympathize with and understand Narcissa Malfoy, I can appreciate all additions to the HP universe and I can see where they're coming from.
The relationships are realistic and, in this world of horrible romances in which the main character forgets all about friends when love interests show up, Harry sticks with his buddies. They have their same, small rituals, their tiny interactions - you can tell they're not there for the plot, so when something happens you can be genuinely interested.
Except, as I was saying, there isn't that much plot. The little of it that exists is good and solid, but it didn't satisfy my thirst for it - especially since "Foundations" is very long and can feel very dragged out without it.
The story, where lacking in plot, compensates with sex scenes. And there are *a lot* of sex scenes. Described in detail. Over a number of pages. Which, you know, is great if you're reading the story for the porn, but which gets repetitive otherwise. I'm starting to really see the logic of making characters get a room out of the reader's sight, so that when it happens it's still an event as opposed to routine.
I personally feel it at around 3 stars, quality-wise, right now, but it has bursts of feels and loveliness and little in-jokes that make me appreciate it more. You know, for the rare highlights.
An enjoyable sequel, personalities are clearly drawn you may occasionally want to shake them but it suits who they are. Strength, humour, some real feels among the warm fuzzies.
Tropes: – Draco/Harry fanfiction – Established relationship
The sequel to Reparations is much longer, and it is worth every page. Now in an established relationship, Harry and Draco have to navigate their work and their new business venture and their family and themselves all at the same time. This is, as Draco put it, a horrifying domestic story, but it is literally everything that I love. I loved seeing them live life together and doing so well.
Another incredible surprise was the relationship between Harry and Narcissa + Narcissa and Clive. I don’t know why but that story just touched me in so many ways because I thought it was amazing and the way that they handle her character development as well. It’s just phenomenal. Not to mention, Draco and Clive too, of course. Just Clive all around was adorable and I loved him to death.
This is definitely one of the best I’ve ever read, and I would recommend it to everyone who loves a little bit of domestic, married couple vibes!!
Not my usual cup of tea, i.e. grown-up Drarry with jobs(!). But, oh my.
It has all the things you want in Drarry: hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, smut, lemon-scented Malfoy, impetuous but trying Harry, angst, brooding, snark and silliness, kinks, small acts of kindness and attention, talking cupboards, and a small child.
But also things you didn’t even know you needed: Team Granger-Malfoy, Polyjuice Fridays, string and leather, maternal Narcissa, pure-blood etiquette, flapjack Thursdays, and deranged peacocks.
I was looking for a fic that had quite a bit of couple content, tired of reading 'get together' without any rewarding relationship progress. I was so thrilled to find Reparations (the first in this series) with this sequel which is double the length!
The characterisations are unexpected and I think I would think they're wrong except for the non-cannon backstories (healer/drug addict) and direction the story takes the characters which then inform the story and their behaviors.
Also reading through the small bonus chapters now and enjoying it.
2018 Podfic: I think I will have to go back and actually read this one again rather than just the podfic. I enjoyed the story, but I found the female voices that the reader did really distracting. I have never actively disliked Hermione before, but for some reason the narrator chose to make her sound like Umbridge with a really high voice. Not a fan of that. The story itself was delightful Sara's Girl fare though.
It's a cute story. Lots of good character development, plus it's super gay. There's a good amount of charming worldbuilding as well. Points off for the one transphobic joke, the refusal to say "bisexual", and most importantly the fact that the plot and characters were perfectly set up to be abolitionist but only managed to make it to reformism.
Solid writing, strong characterizations, but the narration needed to be cut in half. It was mostly curtain fic (which was okay, in principle), but WAY too slow and FAR too long.
This was INCREDIBLE!!! I want to read more. Harry and Draco’s relationship continues to develop, and in such a them way. I loved Clive and Narcissa. This was just a really lovely read.
4.8 very good, enjoyable, loved Clive, good smutt and sweet development although would have liked a bit more jealousy and actual sense in their arguments
Draco x Harry Harry and Draco continue dating Draco opens a center at malfoy manor Harry’s patient does and he takes her son Narcissa ends up adopting the boy
Still love this to the core and even more so with every details rediscovered! And for some reasons unknown, I don't feel annoyed at all with Clive's nickname for Draco now, and I supposed once you have established connection to someone, it's just hard to let go, not to mention that someone is a adorable/clever child.

I love Saras Girl's stories because they are so warm and beautifully written that I often find myself smiling while I'm reading them or even just thinking about them. And this is definitely one of my favorite Drarry fanfics!
This is a story about building foundations of their relationship through daily life—to love and trust each other. I love the way Harry and Draco supported each other when they got frustrated at work, and their want and need and love to each other showed in sex scenes (especially in Chapter 11 & 12).
Other characters are also adorable and well-established. The love between Terry and Cecile (written in Falling Slowly) is cute and lovely. The interaction between Harry and Narcissa is also intriguing and funny in a sort of way. As to Clive, I know I'm just being picky here, but why Clive had to call Draco Drake? and I can't help but want to ask WHAT ABOUT TEDDY when I saw how much Harry cared for Clive (Harry is Teddy's God Father, isn't he.)
In short, I enjoy the story in every way, and I recommend it to everyone who loves Drarry fics!
I feel like this took me forever to plow through. It was still well-written, it just no longer felt like a Drarry story to me.
It's possible it's just my thing with established-couples stories. It's possible it's my thing with kids in m/m, it's possible it's that I found the whole Romilda story line just hugely depressing. This just wasn't for me.
Favorite Quotes: this is conflict Malfoy-style: cool, calm and serrated.
Silently, Harry adds another moment to his gallery of surreal, and drains his coffee.
"How is it possible for the whole world to turn upside down in the space of three months?"
Harry's soft laughter catches in his chest. He turns and presses his face into the shoulder of Draco's sable-coloured sweater. "I don't know. If there's a God, he's really taking the piss."
but absolutely zero chance of stealth peacock attacks.
Harry does scowl this time, flinging his arms out for emphasis. "I'm not! It's not paranoia if the peacock really has got it in for you!"
Draco smiles slowly, unruffled by Harry's frustration. "Have you ever considered that perhaps it's just a particularly misanthropic peacock?" Pushing off the pillar, he flashes Harry a brilliant, bright smile that stops him in his tracks. "Really, you're personalising this. You're worse than a patient."
grinning like an idiot because Narcissa Malfoy had told him that she returned his grateful handbag
Harry supposes that unexpected, non-consensual crossdressing is amusing on many levels.
you can't make a judgement when all you can see is guilt.
"Don't interrupt," he complains. "If you do, you remind me that it's just a story."
