Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City's fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there's one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emm's not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well traveled. He's also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emm's refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.

Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben's twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened. Here is a story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

I have read all of Kendall Ryan’s books. In my opinion, Working It is her best book yet! A great mix of angsty, sweet, swoony, and sexy.

Emmy is a recent college graduate who moved from Tennessee to the big apple. She’s got a new job, assistant to the boss from hell, Fiona, who happens to be the top agent to a male modeling firm. Emmy’s job is stressful, but she enjoys it. She enjoys it even more after she meets one particular model. Ben Shaw.

 photo 05618f78-d406-46e1-b0d2-28a10b4b0fe9_zps15059f4a.jpg

Ben is the best of the best. He is the agency’s top male model. Gorgeous, built, sexy, he’s got it all. Emmy knows a guy like that would never look twice at a girl like her, he could have any one he wants. What he wants is Emmy. He is instantly attracted to her. Not just the way she looks, but her attitude. The way she treats him, cares for him.

Ben has been in the business for a while, he knows how it works. Even before he modeled, he was constantly around them- his mother was a model. He knows how people are. He keeps his guard up. He doesn’t seriously date anyone. It’s just not in the cards for him right now. But there is something about Emmy. When Fiona, Emmy and Ben all go to Europe for some contracts and show, Ben knows. He has to have her.

 photo 659cd8ac-7306-435a-8aa1-d872909682e2_zpsa05d7a52.jpg

Emmy is hesitant. She wants Ben too, but she’s not sure if she can handle what he’s offering. She’s worried she’ll want more, more that he’s not willing to give her. Plus there’s the matter of Fiona. Fiona and Ben have an... odd relationship, Emmy notices. Fiona is possessive of him. It’s confusing for Emmy, but she knows one thing. Whatever is going on between Ben and her has to stay quiet. The last thing she needs is issues with her boss.

As things develop between Ben and Emmy, feelings start to grow, secrets come out... it's really a mess.

The spark Ben and Emmy have is uncontainable. They have some major chemistry. You can feel it. This one was hot hot hot! Then there is the Braydon scene... holy hell. I about died. Anyway, suffice to say the sex scenes were off the charts hot! But it was more then that. I really enjoyed the story. There were a few expected and unexpected twists and turns. An ending that wasn’t exactly a cliffhanger, but left you wanting more!

 photo 9138f413-0a08-41f8-8619-d0a7f32aa54b_zpsaa286f22.jpg

Now to the characters. I really enjoyed Emmy’s character. She was strong, stood her ground. She was protective over Ben. It was sweet. Ben was a complex character. He was more than just a hot guy. He is a bit damaged, his background and upbringing made him that way. But this guy is such a sweetheart. He had me swooning, then completely melting with his dirty talk. He and Emmy couldn’t be more different in a lot of ways, but they just work. As much as I liked Ben and Emmy, I hated Fiona! I guess you know the author is doing a good job of writing a villain when you can’t find one thing you like about them. The shining star of the book for me, and my favorite character was Braydon. I cannot wait for his book.

Steamy, sexy and sweet. This was an enjoyable read for me. I’ll be patiently waiting for the next book to see where Ben and Emmy’s relationship goes from here...

5 SUPER –SEXY-STEAMY-MODEL STARS

What do you get when you throw in a Model, a Southern girl, Paris as the backdrop oh and super-hot steamy scenes? A FABULOUS KENDALL RYAN READ!

Ben is a high-end Fashion model. He’s rich, good-looking, young, and women want to gobble him up. Emmy is a southern girl from Tennessee. Emmy is not a model, she’s not a size zero and is just trying to make it in the fashion world. Emmy is Fiona’s assistant, who is Ben’s manager. Fiona isn’t easy on Emmy and Emmy has enough to worry about, but super sexy Ben sure keeps Emmy plenty distracted.

He was gorgeous and funny and made me feel all kinds of alive

So the blurb is super cute. I’ve always been fond of the ubber successful, good looking guy showing interest in the normal looking gal. Shoot, you throw in the word Southern in there and I’m all over that like hot cakes (in case you are wondering, I’m from Texas, so the gun reference was very comical and true). Then there’s the “villain”, the super cool and confident Fiona, who is thrown into the mix.

You have all of that and it’s like BAM … you got yourself a mother fucking perfect read. Oh yeah, I busted out with the curses. You know I’m serious when I start using the F-word.

I freaking adored Emmy. I loved it. She’s cute, she’s adorable and she’s a really great Heroine. She’s strong, yet a little hesitant, she’s takes charge, but doesn’t mind letting someone else take control, she’s just a well-balanced character.

AND BEN…. Let’s just let me say this. One single word… MODEL, YUP…. I was just envisioning, the perfect male. Ben is lickable, fuckable and swoon worthy. Like Emmy, he has the PERFECT balance of being dominate, yet sweet, strong, yet weak, heroic, yet kind of flawed. I loved Ben from start to finished and yes even after reading the prologue.

Now, let’s get to the prologue. My first impression was the prologue and it pissed me off. It’s a pet peeve of mine, but I hate reading the ending at the beginning, I can name several novels I have loved and have done this, but it’s like that little thing… just why? When you finish, you will get it. It’s pretty risky revealing it all out there, but I think it adds a nice dynamic to the read.

The scene is set in Paris and basically Ben, Emmy and a few side characters are just working on many projects. I’m a MAJOR FASHION BUFF, so I was like oh HECK YEAH to this story line. Also, I recently went to Paris last spring, so it brought up some yummy memories.

There’s plenty of tug, witty banter and steamy scenes between Emmy and Ben. There is not insta-love or even insta-lust. No, you don’t have to wait too long for some steam, but to me, EVERYTHING flowed. I enjoyed the writing style very much. I also loved that Kendall added Ben’s POV from time to time. It helped me with his character A LOT.

Oh and there’s a part in there… it’s not really significant, I guess it kind of is… it’s not a spoiler or anything, but when she wrote it in, I REMEMBER THE DAY KENDALL ASKED THIS ON FACEBOOK. It just shows how much she loves her fans. She did us justice girls! (THANK YOU FOR THAT).

It’s a very steamy read. It didn’t in any way hinder my reading experience. There was just enough kink and steam to keep me fully interested and panting for more.

And then the ending…. If you want to know if there is a cliffy or not… here is your answer ---- > there’s a closed cliffy.

2.5 disappointing stars!!

I was really, really looking forward to this book. Granted that Kendall Ryan is a hit or miss for me, I was intrigued enough to request this on NetGalley. Plus, who doesn't love reading about a hot male model with more secrets than Vogue and a lowly assistant? I was certainly up for it.

Sadly, this didn't pan out for me. The first half was okay. Nothing exciting but it wasn't bad either. I found Emmy's innocence endearing and Ben Shaw is, as expected, smoking hot. I didn't mind the lack of tension or the flimsy plot. I didn't even mind that prologue. Sure, it pretty much laid out the whole story for me but hey, maybe there's something more to it, ya know.

But as it turns out there wasn't...That was pretty much it. Two pages into the book, you pretty much know what's going to happen.

And then there is that one scene which just ruined the whole book for me. It came out of nowhere. I don't mind reading it actually if the story warrants for it to be there. Here, it was totally unnecessary. It was out of character and it didn't make sense. I am unconvinced as to the reason why it was included in the first place.

If you don't want to get spoiled don't click this.

Plus, the ending was HFN at best. They're together but there were still so many unresolved issues to deal with. That's it.

Goodreads asked me, "What do you think?"

When I started to read this one, I was so exited...look at the delicious cover! So tempting!!! Just to be fair, I gave 5 stars just for the cover!

But then I made a mental note , this is an erotic novel. Anything could happen. ANYTHING!.

So, my dream came true!!! Yay! "Anything" really happen!

Soooo I keep on reading and skipped some f***ing scene that I should be read slowly and savor it .... hey! it's an erotic novel! You should read the hot scene more carefully, right?

But since "Anything did happen" and I DIDN'T FUCKING LIKE IT...IN FACT...I CURSED AND HATE IT!… and I really pissed at Ben, cursed how stupid he was...I think he's also blind ! And Emmy just a stupid girl, she forgave him too easily...and it was crystal clear to me that she's only fall in love with Ben's pretty face. Definitely NOT OKAY.

Ben is not a typical male I like in books. He's lame, UNFAITHFUL easily distracted, not an alpha, lame, lame, lame....like a pudding! Grrr!

And the ending was just...sigh...Not okay...
So....it ended , me given this story only 1 star.

This one failed me.
I can't recommend it to any of my friends. I don't want them to suffer like me. Let it just me who sacrifice this. *angel face*

Working It – Kendall Ryan

Well fuck me running…. Talk about a hot little read!! It’s all here….. Including a threesome with a happy APA piercing!

Emmy is from a small town in Tennessee; she finishes college and moves to the Big Apple to get involved in the fashion industry. She lands an awesome job with the boss from hell. Fiona is Anna Wintour for sure. It has a bit of “The Devil Wears Prada” feel.

Ben, the agency’s golden boy sees the small town Emmy with her down-home ways, regular K-Mart clothes, and the need to feed him and take care of him and is immediately smitten with the curvy real girl that saves him from the green drinks and feeds him beer and blueberry muffins.

These two have a chemistry that burns up the pages. No two ways about it, Ms. Ryan knows her smut.

Ben is jaded by the business. He has never had a girlfriend, just a girl in every city. He has been exposed to the fashion world since he was a child and has never had anyone want him for him. The man under the chiseled features and what is seen on the glossy magazine covers. For all of his fighting he isn’t boyfriend material, he needs to possess Emmy in every way. Not only in the bedroom (and he does that very well.)

Fiona has had her hooks in Ben from before he signed with the Agency. She “owns” him. Fiona is really a piece of work. She keeps Ben to herself and the growing relationship between Emmy and Ben could cause major problems for Emmy. Fiona’s possessiveness could cost Emmy her job if the secret gets out.

Fiona makes Ben keep secrets. Emmy has no tolerance for that. She finds out that Ben has kept the worst secret possible from her about his relationship with Fiona. When Emmy finds out, she can’t deal and it looks like the end.

Will Ben win her back? Will Fiona get her way and keep Ben to herself? Can Emmy forgive Ben’s secrets? I’m not going to tell you…… you’ll have to read this hot little number for yourself.

There is a “hanging thread” at the end that leads me to believe there will be a book two for this book. There is also a wonderful story in the book that includes Ben’s model buddy Bray. Trust me; you don’t want to miss that……. (Hint, enter the APA piercing)

A great little story with a lot of hot sex that is worth the read.
My only issues with the book are that there is a little too much given away in the beginning. I didn’t think that was necessary. Also, the story line could have been a little deeper. I would have liked to spend more time with Ben and Emmy’s relationship and where it is going and how it all develops.

Truly looking forward to the next!

2 stars.

There was something very, very wrong with this story. I was stunned by how unrealistic it seemed, and quite frankly, I couldn’t wrap my head around some of the things that had happened. Everything was forced, dull and just plain boring. And the plot was weird. The basic concept, definitely holds a spark and with more work and thinking it over, Working It could have had a great potential, but at this point, some things were just laughable.

There were times, when I wanted to stop reading and pick another book, because of how pissing of the characters were. I sincerely don’t remember when was the last time, I’ve thought that the main couple is so annoying and stupid.

I did not find anything sexy in Ben, even his attempts at dirty talking and acting like a possessive alpha were pitiful… The ‘sexting’ between him and Emmy was not appealing or arousing at all. The constant ‘I want to fuck’ messages, were absurd. I was stunned by how quickly Ben melted panties of Emmy, when I didn’t even felt the need to get to know him better. Emmy was annoying and bothersome heroine. I really found her unlikeable, as connecting with her was very hard task. Her actions and constant swooning over Ben were idiotic.

As the half of the book contained sex, you sure are thinking it has to be steamy book. Unfortunately, because I didn’t find Ben arousing, Working It wasn’t erotic and sensual, and it definitely didn’t leave me turned on.

Overall, I was on the verge of DNF-ing, Working It, more than few times. I am completely unsatisfied with this story and I honestly doubt I will pick up next book in the series.

I am not liking Working It a bit. I am confuse while listening to the audiobook. Where is the plot? Miss Ryan seems to allure us that there is a plot/ drama in her story. But every conflictis averted or solved without so much drama or suspense.

Instead the majority of the book focusing the sexual chemistry between Emmie and Ben. Fiona who is suppose to be the villain, stayed in background.

Anyway, moving on...

**ADVANCED COPY PROVIDED BY NETGALLEY AND ATRIA BOOKS for an honest review**

I'm really speechless. I really don't know where to begin expressing my thoughts on this novel.

I start by saying that I was very disappointed, either from storyline and the author. I have read three other books by Kendall Ryan, two of which I liked very much, and one so and so. So I could not wait to read the first volume of this new series, pretty sure I would love it. Instead, it turned out to be a real disaster for me. I found the plot, the dialogue and the characters quite trivial, silly, frivolous, and inconsistent.
Ben and Emmy are both twenty-two years old, so very young, but the way they act and the way they speak is really childish. And the straw that broke the camel's back was a scene really unexpected, unwarranted and uncalled for that ruined what little was salvageable (if you want to know what I'm talking about you can check my tags). Not because I do not like such a thing in a novel, actually I read novels with such element willingly, but in this case it was out of place and nothing (either the plot or the beginning of the story) presaged that that thing would happen. Amongst other things I found the intimate scenes without real eroticism and sensuality. Really, it was a flop from all points of view.

Kendall Ryan's writing style seems to get worse instead of improve.
In truth I am sorry to write a bad review because she is an author I was starting to like a lot but this novel didn't convey me anything. From a book I expect a lot more.

Oh man, this book was AWFUL. I rarely if ever give a book a one star review, but I just COULD NOT give it any more stars than this. Just terrible, TERRIBLE.

First, I cannot stand an annoying heroine. This girl was the WORST kind for me. Nothing makes me turn on a character more quickly than someone who claims to have certain morals or standards of what they want or expect from other people and then do a 180 and not only turn their back on everything they have stated over and over but do it willingly and without hardly any objection. This is SO not ok with me in any capacity. UGH. This girl, Emmy, is the antithesis of everything I have just described. Not only does she say she wants one thing from a relationship and then settles and accepts exactly the opposite of that, she is whiny, and small, and unsure of herself and constantly questioning her looks, her personality, how much Ben actually wants her beyond just sex...it goes on and on and ON. I like my girls to be strong and sure of themselves. If they don't like something, say it. If they expect something out of a relationship, don't settle for anything less. She kept saying, I want a relationship, I don't do casual sex, and then proceeded to do it over and over and over. Come on. She was just annoying. So disappointing as this was not what was hinted at in the synopsis of this book.

There was also the matter of almost NO relationship development here. She meets the guy, spends several evenings e-mailing and texting him, one date talking to him over drinks and then (even though we weren't involved in the conversation, just a glossed over evening) we start getting statements about how kind and generous he is, and how she feels such a connection to him blah blah blah. There is nothing given to us to understand what she is talking about. To me he was rude and crass in his e-mails and texts and I never saw anything of him being a gentleman or anything of the sort. Then he flat out tells her over and over that he doesn't do relationships. Period. But hey, if you want to start a "relationship" with someone like that, I don't want to hear all of your whiny, annoying thoughts about why he doesn't want to commit. Seriously? Annoying.

Then there is the amazingly smoking hot beautiful model, Ben. There is nothing about this guy that makes him likable at ALL, besides his looks (which we are reminded of about ten trillion times through the book btw...we get it, he's hot, moving on. He is crude from the beginning, and then we are reminded over and over through the book how many conquests he's had throughout the story, including threesomes, yuck. Then he tells Emmy repeatedly how he doesn't want a relationship and that it's too hard to be faithful in his career (I guess I can at least give him credit for not wanting to lead her on, but a guy who refuses to commit to the girl he is sleeping with is probably the biggest turn off of ALL for me). Then the fact that he is willing to do something with her AND his best friend in the industry...I won't go into more detail than that, but at that point I was done with all of them. I don't know, just everything about this guy turned me off completely. Some of the stuff I read about him doing just made my stomach roll, and then Emmy, being Emmy would just turn around and tell him it was all ok because she thought he was sexy. Really? No. Emmy is a door mat for most of the book and Ben is insipid. I guess these two honestly do deserve each other. In the end, I just stopped caring.

Ok, and I have to just mention one more thing. I honestly don't like when books talk about girls giving guys head. If it's in there, I NEVER comment about it in a review, but this one has to be addressed. It was absolutely the LEAST sexy you could possibly get, and a complete turn off. I'll put why in spoiler comments so you can read it if you want to know why... Can someone tell me WHY this is sexy? It isn't!

If it wasn't for the opening chapter that led into the story that led me to want to know what happened at the end, I would have stopped reading in the beginning. I wish I would have. There is absolutely nothing, NOTHING redeeming about this story. Sure there is a sequel to this book, but I will NOT be reading it. An afternoon of my life I wish I could rewind and get back. I would NOT recommend this book.

I was instantly immersed in the glamorous and not so glamorous world of modeling through the narration of Emerson, a heroine real and down-to-earth and completely relatable. The chemistry between Emmy and the intense but charming Ben is palpable… and did I mention HOT? Speaking of Ben… wow! Ryan does a fantastic job of bringing a male supermodel to life—Ben’s the ultimate book boyfriend!
Fabulous! Working It is a romantic and incredibly sexy read.

Kendall Ryan’s “Working It” is a quick, very erotic read.

Emmy left her home in Tennessee, headed to New York, and started a new life and career. Now, she’s working as an assistant in a modeling agency, for a first-class witch. Her job has its challenges and does nothing for her self esteem. Fiona, a wicked shrew, takes great pleasure tormenting Emmy day in and day out. Emmy’s bright side in all this drama is meeting super model Ben Shaw.

Ben, the agency’s top model, rules the runway. Gorgeous women constantly flock to him, but it is Emmy that catches his eye and he is smitten. Ben needs to have her, possess her, and sexually claim her. However, he has major obstacles. For one, Ben and Fiona have a complicated relationship and a murky past. Secondly, he has commitment issues. A naïve country girl like Emmy is not one nightstand material, but that does not stop Ben from perusing her. Ben’s plan of attack is enticing Emmy through overtly sexual texts. Oh yes, these two are really good at sexting.

It is in Paris that these two start their steamy love affair. Ben is off the charts HOT and extremely talented in the boudoir....Oh là là! Emmy falls fast and hard, but fears she will end up broken hearted. Ben develops feeling for Emmy, but the two struggle under the scrutiny of the nefarious Fiona. (Fiona, hope someone drops a house on you).

I liked Ben’s character. Aside from his hotness factor, he is a sweetheart. Despite his proclamations denying he is not boy friend material, he proves otherwise. In my opinion, Ben is the victim in the tale. Fiona’s scheming affects Ben’s happiness and love life. She saw an opportunity and took advantage of him. I can sympathize with Emmy’s heartache, but Ben is the injured party here. I preferred reading the story from his point of view. He’s sensual, humorous and straightforward. What’s not to love?

Emmy was a bit of a challenging character for me. She tends to be flighty at times, not giving Ben a chance to explain his circumstances, and jumps to conclusions too easily. It was difficult for Emmy to deal with Ben and his celebrity status, but she needed to be stronger. She constantly suffered from “weak-knees” and “trembling hands”. She spent too much time inside of her head and I wish she were less judgmental towards Ben’s past. I would have preferred less of her thoughts and more interaction between the two. More time dedicated to their burgeoning relationship. That being said, these two were involved in some hot and heavy situations.

My favorite character was Braydon, Ben’s buddy and fellow runway model. He’s gorgeous, sexy, funny and sports an apa…wow! Hmm....warning, there’s some hanky panky going on between these three. For me, Braydon’s was the highlight of the story. Would like to read about his escapades...more of Braydon And his special piercing ;)

The story ends is a bit of a cliffy with some loose ends dangling. I’m eagerly waiting for the next installment to see how Ben and Emmy’s relationship grows.

4.5 stars - I “flove” this book! I fucking love it!

Sweet, sexy and angsty, this book took me by surprise by its depth. I was expecting a cute and fluffy read, and instead I got completely swept up in an intense love story.

Emmy has just moved from Tennessee to New York City and started working for a modelling agency. As the assistant to the Director of the agency, she is frontline to the nasty bitch’s demands and moods, but she is also lucky enough to be taken to Paris for three months along with the agency’s biggest star – male model, Ben Shaw.

Ben is confident, cocky and incredibly gorgeous (of course). His mouther was a famous model, so he has lived the lifestyle since he was a child, and he is wise and experienced beyond his 22 years. He also has a whole lot of issues. And when sweet and thoughtful Emmy and sexy but damaged Ben come together… damn! They are attracted to each other from the start, and Ben proves that he is a man that goes after what he wants.

“What do you want?” I whispered, barely recognising my own voice. It was breathless and much too high.
He rubbed his lips against my jaw, our mouths so close that I could feel the strain in his jaw as he fought the urge to kiss me. “I want to fuck you.”

There is all kinds of openly sexual flirting, and some mad sexting, but Ben makes it clear that he’s not looking for a relationship and Emmy knows that she already feels too much for him and can’t trust her heart if she lets anything physical happen between them, so there is a bit of back and forth. And as they get to know each other, Em sees the side of Ben that is craving love and acceptance for who he is, and Ben starts to fall for Em and the way she cares for him like nobody ever has before. And all the while the chemistry continues to build.

“I want you. It’s simple. Don’t make it complicated,” he whispered.
My eyes slipped closed. “This isn’t just sex, Ben.”
Soft fingertips stroked my jaw. “I know, beautiful.”

“Let me do this. Let me have you, Emmy.”

Yep, the man is pretty irresistible, and hot damn - there is sexy time, and it is intense! It’s hot, it’s meaningful, there’s a bit of dirty talk and it even gets a little crowded at one point when Ben’s best friend, Brayden joins in for the evening (God, I love him, and holy freaking hotness!!!). But, of course, there are dramas. Ben’s personal issues are fairly minor, but they do impact the way that their relationship unfolds. But as much as they may not have planned it, neither of them are able to deny what is happening between them and they fall into beautiful, heart-pounding, first-time love.

“You’ve stolen my heart, baby. No one and nothing’s going to change that. I belong to you.”

*dreamy sigh*

But the clusterfuck from hell is slowly brewing in the background, and when it explodes, it throws everything into heartbreaking turmoil. .

I loved this book! The romance is absolutely gorgeous, and I loved the development of things between Emmy and Ben. Usually I get annoyed at too much relationship drama, but I was able to deal with everything that happened between them, and loved watching Ben, in particular, try to navigate something that is incredibly new for him. I loved that we got a few chapters in his POV so that we could see where his head was at, and even though he made some mistakes along the way, his heart was always in the right place.

Emmy is instantly likable. She’s fun and easy to relate to. She is in her head a lot, but her situation is all very new for her, so it was understandable. And considering that she is a ‘normal’ girl surrounded by supermodels all day, every day, she has a good sense of self-worth. Sure, she has her insecure moments, and she’s a little quick to jump to conclusions at times where Ben is involved, but I was so relieved that that she didn’t go down the pouty ‘I’m not beautiful enough… what could he possibly see in me’ route. It’s a tough situation, and I think her reactions are totally understandable.

Ben’s ex was a Victoria’s Secret supermodel. Translation: Fuck my life.

My very first Kendall Ryan book, and I have to say, I am impressed! I really like her writing style. The story is fast moving and I was sucked in from the very start, madly flipping pages the whole way through. The angst is well balanced with the sexy, swoony romance, and there is just enough humour to keep it from getting dark. The book ends in a good place, but there is a lot more to Ben and Emmy’s story, and I can’t wait to continue on with the next book.

I loved it – 4.5 stars.

★ COVER REVEAL ★
Working It, by Kendall Ryan

Kendall Ryan, New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author of 'Hard To Love' and 'Unravel Me' is bringing sexy back, with the saucy cover reveal for her latest novel, 'Working It'!

Loving this and the blurb looks fun!

RELEASE: August 5th

BLURB:
Straight-laced Emmy Clarke’s assistant job at the modeling agency provides her with one distinct perk – getting to watch pretty mancandy parade around all day. But having to work under the ultra-bitchy, ultra-British Fiona Stone barely makes it worth it. Emmy enjoys looking, but she’s not stupid enough to fall for one of the tempting specimens. Especially not rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: well-traveled, highly paid and exquisitely gorgeous. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Against her better judgment to get involved, Emmy’s southern roots kick in, and whenever he’s on set, she makes sure he’s treated well and looked after. But she refuses to become one of the pathetic groupies lusting after him, and soon Ben’s drawn toward her refreshingly real attitude.

Against the backdrop of fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan, their casual flirting turns into more, and they embark on a journey of sexual discovery. But when Ben’s twisted past is uncovered, it threatens both their relationship and careers as the bitter Fiona digs her claws in, unwilling to let her golden boy go without a catfight.

Filled with passion, jealousy and heart-thumping sex, Working It is the tale of falling for a supermodel.

Okay, so I want to firstly say that I love Kendall Ryan’s books, every one of her previous titles has been 4 or 5 stars for me. I love the originality of her plots and the uniqueness of her characters. That’s why I am sad to be rating Working It with only 3 stars, especially as the lovely lady was kind enough to provide me with an ARC copy for review.

Ben and Emmy are from totally different walks of life; Ben has been born and raised pretty much in the public eye, with the experience in life this sort of exposure affords. While Emmy is a country girl, her family still residing in Tennessee, see’s things from a more innocent perspective. This premise is what drew me to the book in the first place, hot model and country girl what more could you ask for.

So ill start with what I liked –

The first 50% or so was pretty solid; we are taken to New York, Paris and Milan. The growing attraction and developing relationship between Emmy and Ben is great. I loved the texts and picture messaging, some of their conversations had me giggling, and Ben has one dirty, delicious mouth and texting fingers on him I can tell ya!

Kendall has also set up a Pinterest page so you can visualize the picture messages (hot damn) and the places that Ben and Emmy visit in the book -

http://www.pinterest.com/kendallryan1...

Several of Emmy’s inner one liners were hilarious (in true Kendall Ryan style) and I will certainly remember them for a while.

*More ass than a toilet seat*

*Once he was done with me, it would be like a Taylor Swift song – heartbreak city*

They really did give you the impression that Emmy was a good country girl at heart. I loved that she saw Ben as more than just a hot model –

*I could sense that the real him was just a regular guy, looking for a connection*

What could be improved upon –

The prologue pretty much sums up the whole book, I could almost work out who, what and where things were going to happen after reading it and it took away all of the surprise of the storyline.

Being a spoiler free review it is hard to say a lot about my next issue (however there are plenty of other reviews that do list it if you are interested). It occurs at around 68% through the book, and for me it was completely unnecessary and added absolutely nothing to the storyline. I have never encountered it in previous books by Kendall, and tbh a little warning would have been nice, I am not a prude but it is not something I go out of my way to read. I also found it to be completely out of character for Emmy, so it just didn’t sit right in the storyline as a whole for me.

The sex was hot and well written, I did find the overuse of “I need to be inside you” a little annoying, and I think I am correct in saying Ben said it pretty much every time they did the deed.

This isn’t a bad book; it just isn’t to the usual high standard that I have become accustomed to when I pick up a title by Kendall Ryan. The writing style is unlike her previous titles, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what has changed, but it is different, it seems to have lost a little of her usual spark and spunkiness.

It won’t stop me from getting excited about reading her future releases, and waiting impatiently for them. I would once again like to thank Kendall for providing me with an ARC of Working It; I hope that I have the opportunity to review more of her work in the future.

I haven't enjoyed the last few Kendall Ryan books so when I saw this on Netgalley I requested it so that I wasn't wasting money if the story disappointed. Well I'm glad I saved myself some money!

As other reviewers have said, the prologue gives the story away so you know what's coming later in the book. As a British reader, the British character in the book, Fiona annoyed me with her constant references of 'love'. 'hello love', 'morning love', goodbye love'. Yes British people use that term but I read Fiona as a posh Brit and posh people don't say 'love'!! She said 'darling' occasionally which was much more fitting.

Can't say I liked Emmy or Ben. Ben is 22 and talks about his past at 18 as if it was years ago! I didn't feel their chemistry at all.

When the story takes an odd turn 60% into the book, I was to say the least, gobsmacked! It didn't fit in with the story at all and ruined it.

As for what is going on with Fiona well that was not researched well at all.

It doesn't exactly end on a cliffhanger but god knows why all these authors are writing continuation books when this story could easily have been told in one book.

I'm not sure why Kendall Ryan's books have changed lately but they are certainly not for the better.

I should have known when I started skimming the first few pages. And then the quick progress of Ben and Emmy's relationship was just the deal breaker for me. This is quite a saucy sexy book but it wasn't lighting my panties on fire. I might come back to this another day as it is a series but it is a DNF for now.

Glamorous and romantic, Working It is the full package -- a
gorgeous setting, a beautiful hero, and a heroine you both root for and
long to be, especially in those oh-so-sexy scenes.

Absolutely horrible...

for once i agree with a bunch of the reviews, though I'm agreeing with the negative reviews, not positive. This was the worst Kendall Ryan book I've read and I'm sorely disappointed.

I didn't feel attached to any of the characters and didn't feel like they were unique or memorable or even slightly relatable.

Emmy never stood up for herself and was a baby. And Ben was a pig. I hated how he never stood up for her or chose her over anyone else.

I especially hated how easily Emmy agreed to be with him, got together with him, etc. After all the drama and shit he put her through!

I just finished this book and hmmm. I love Kendall Ryan, and I realized this is one of older writings so maybe that's why I wasn't like "OMG AMAZING"

Her writing is impeccable. It was Emmy and Ben that kinda annoyed me.

Emmy, gosh girl grow a backbone!! Most of the book she literally had me like ...

She was so nieve at times, and literally gave into Ben's EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. He could do no wrong in her eyes. He messes up, "Oh no it wasn't his fault, he was drunk" Like come on, I wanted her to stand up for herself just a little bit!

The Ben, sexy model Ben, he too was another pushover in a way. He would be authoritative with Emmy, but the second Fiona said one word to him it was her way and no one else's. I mean come on he's 23 and didn't even order his own dinner, Fiona did.

That relationship was a whole other story, that was almost creepy.

Lately, I didn't know this ended in a cliffhanger-ish!

I’m still confused on how I felt about this book. I liked it when they were together, their chemistry was sizzling. But individually, I don’t like them. Ben seemed too careless at times and too caring at others, dude can’t make his mind up. And Emmy annoyed me a lot. She jumped to the worst conclusion and refused to talk it out. The story was mediocre. It was an okay read, I guess.

This was a big disappointment for me there was very little to draw me into the story. The two lead characters Ben and Emmy just didn't seem very sincere with one another, in particular Ben. Emmy is a small town girl not particularly innocent but she is unworldly. She's landed a job as an assistant to Fiona the boss of status models. Fiona represents mostly male models, one who seems to be her favourite is Ben. Fiona is a class A b**ch! Emmy seems to cope with Fiona far better than her numerous predecessors.

Fiona takes Emmy with her to France for three months to oversee Ben's assignments, Emmy is attracted to Ben but she feels as though she is punching above her weight with him he's way out of her league. But Ben seems intrigued with the cute little girl from Tennessee. They begin by sexting one another at night that soon progresses to more a lot more. But there is a big stumbling block for Emmy. What is Ben and Fiona's relationship, is it just professional or is there more to it.

Right from the get go I couldn't help thinking that Ben was using Emmy as a distraction while they were in France for three months, his relationship with Fiona was obviously more than he was telling Emmy. In fact when push came to shove he picked Fiona over Emmy almost every time there was a problem. As for Emmy she knew in her mind what was happening she didn't trust Ben but went there anyway. There's an awful lot of sex in this book as well, Ben's dirty talk didn't work for me it felt very forced. The scene that occurs later in the book was a WTF moment as it just didn't gel with Emmy's character. I was really surprised by the prologue as it totally gives the story away, I didn't get why the author did that. As to the rest of the plot, there were so many farfetched elements that made this a very disappointing read.

***I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review***

Going into this book, I was hoping the Prologue hadn't already given too much of the story away. But Ben and Emmy turned out to be better than I expected. Especially Ben (or Bennn)! His dirty talking definitely added some spice to the book. His attraction to Emmy may have come off as predictable, but reading from his POV made the story that much more interesting.

Emmy was a relatable character. I'll never be the fashion queen and will never model clothing. She stuck by who she was and her roots.

Fiona as the villain, I hated Fiona. HATED her. She was predictable in her actions as most jealous females are, but what she ends up doing to Ben and HIS excuses for it happening, I don't think that Emmy should ever forgive her. Of course, Fiona is who she is and I'm sure no one would believe her to be capable of such wrong.

The sex in this book wasn't over the top either. There is the interesting M/F/M threesome that occurs and it definitely had it's place in the story and the relationship between Ben and Emmy.

There was a lot I liked about this book. There were a lot of hot and sexy moments, a lot of sweet moments, and a lot of Fiona-crazy moments. I'm ready for the next book to come out. Not everything was answered in this book, but I also didn't find the ending to be one of those "throwing my e-reader against the wall" moments.

To say that this book is as addictive as crack is an understatement. Did I ever think I'd find a novel that had fashion models interesting? No. Did I think I could hate a fictional villain more than Otto Sanchez (from Carolyn Crane's The Disillusionists trilogy)? Nope. Did I think that I'd end up liking a naive, out-of-place heroine? Not even a little bit. But somehow, I did. From the sexalicious Ben, to the fun and flirty Braydon to the backstabbing bitch Finoa, I fell in love hard with this book. This is the first book I've read by Kendall Ryan, and it certainly won't be the last.

Emmy is a recent college graduate from a modest Tennessee background. She in unpretentious, smart and sweet to a fault. She just wants to do a good job for her boss, Fiona, and live her life. Although Fiona is a rude, disrespectful, demanding, petty, condescending bitch, Emmy is fairly happy with her job. One day, male model extraordinaire Ben Shaw comes into the office. Emmy thinks he's gorgeous, but doesn't think she has any business with a model. She also noticed the way that Fiona takes center stage when Ben is around. Soon, Emmy is invited to accompany Fiona to Paris for Fashion Week as her personal assistant.

Emmy enters a foreign world filled with underfed models and smacking of pretense. After e-mailing Ben about a job, Emmy and he begin a flirty e-mail conversation. This turns in to texting, and then into actual dates. Emmy's and Ben's love story begins, but it's chock full of obstacles and craters. There are two major obstacles in this romance: One being the morally bankrupt and selfish Fiona. The other being Emmy's complete lack of self-esteem. Fiona and Ben have a history, even though she is 16 years his senior. Ben doesn't seem to want any romantic relationship with Fiona, but feels like her owes her his loyalty for all of the hard work she has done for his career. I understood this plot point in the beginning, but Fiona became increasingly unlikeable and crossed the line one too many times for me to have anything nice to say about her. Read the book - you'll understand.

Emmy, however, grew tiresome in some regards. I didn't see her as a strong person. In a way, she is a strong character. She is able to put her foot down when she sees no other option. However, she lacks self confidence. In the beginning, I understood her inferior feelings. Hello - she's a normal girl hanging out with models. By the end, it got old. She received a lot of attention from several people, and there was no reason for her to doubt herself. If she said how hot, gorgeous or beautiful Ben was one more time, I swear I would have jumped into the pages of this book and strangled her. She was also way too naive. Emmy figured out early on what kind of person Fiona was. When Ben made several bad choices regarding Fiona, Emmy just kind of let it slide. I won't give it all away, but when your "boyfriend" is shoving you in the bathroom to hide you from your boss so he boss doesn't know you spent the night, you need to think about kicking said "boyfriend's" ass.

I liked Ben a lot. I thought he was sweet and sexy and real. I love dark and damaged heroes, and Ben fit the bill. He has a dark past, but it wasn't uncovered in this book. We learn bits and pieces of Ben's life, but not the whole picture. Unfortunately, Ben made bad choice after bad choice. Emmy needed to literally shake some sense into this man. Although I believe he really loves Emmy, he continually put her in second place in his life, and this is a really unattractive quality in a male lead. I know there is more to this story, but after this first book, I think Emmy needs to make him suffer a bit.

Oh, but the sexiness in this book was off the charts! The sex scenes were hot and detailed. Ben is a stud and I can see why Emmy is infatuated with him. Braydon was a nice addition to this series, although I wonder how he'll play out in the future with Emmy's best friends, Ellie. Even though there were parts of this book I didn't love, I can honestly say that I could not put this book down to save my soul. The writing grabbed my attention from the very first page and held me captive until the end. Kendall Ryan did a fantastic job writing this book, and I can't wait to read the next installment, due in March 2014.

**ARC courtesy of Atria Books, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review**

Well Kendall Ryan did it again....this is another one to add to my favorites shelf. I was a little nervous because after reading the prologue I was hooked but it also uncovered something I don't normally like to read about in books, but rest assured it is all explained by the end and I could except the explanation. I thought this was a great book!! As in typical Kendall Ryan fashion it was fairly fast paced and pretty steamy ;) I will say there were definitely different aspects to this book that we don't see in her other books. One being she created a character that I completely HATED right from the start and I still didn't like her at the end of the book. You will know exactly who I am talking about once you read this book. This book kept me intrigued all the way through and I had a really hard time putting it down. I am looking forward to see where this series goes and how everything turns out.

As for the characters....Emmy and Ben. I really liked Emmy, she was a sweet southern bell just trying to make it in the big city of New York doing something she loved....fashion!!!! After college she was hired on as a personal assistant to the Owner of Status Model Agency. This part of the book kind of reminded me of the movie The Devil wears Prada. Because her boss Fiona was just cruel and evil. Emmy was definitely a strong person to put up with her crap. At times the author did make Emmy look weak and very easily bendable but in the end she really showed that Emmy could stand on her own 2 feet and stand up for herself. As for Ben....I really have mixed feelings for him. Yes he was swoon worthy but he also lacked some sincerity in my opinion. There were times I had a hard time believing things he was telling Emmy. But by the end I truly did believe his feelings for Emmy and that he was wiling to do anything to make things right and to make things work with them. I have to say there were 2 instances that I really wish would've been handled better by Ben. I can't explain what I mean because it will give to much away, just know that he had a couple lapses in good judgement calls. I will say that I really liked Emmy and Ben together. Ben just needs to grow a pair of balls when it came to another character. I was glad to see that he sort of learned his lesson by the end. I am really hoping in the other books he makes things final with the other person.

As for side characters....I loved Ellie...she was a great friend and supporter to Emmy. I also loved how she told you how it was, she really didn't hold anything back :) Braydon was also a really great character. I love that he turned into a great friend for Emmy, someone she could trust in such a non trusting business. There is a part where Ellie and Braydon kind of connect and I am dying to see if it turns into more as the books go on :) I am not going to mention the character that I hated in this book, you will know as soon as she enters the picture.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, especially if you are a Kendall Ryan fan. To me she outdid herself with this book and storyline. I will give a heads up that this book has a To Be Continued ending. Emmy and Ben end in a good place but she left enough unanswered questions and unresolved issues out there that you know there is more to the story. This ending will not torture you ( In my opinion ) so I don't believe it is one that you would need to wait for the next book to come out.
