Feel the heat. Hear the roar.
The fever has begun...

There’s a storm rising. Electricity crackles in the air. For Kira Donovan, it’s that time of year when the need floods her flesh, when almost any man—the bigger and the stronger the better—will do. For Kira, an animal psychic, the heat is a matter of life and death, and this year it has come at just the right time. Tom Knight, a natural-born predator, has arrived at her isolated Idaho farm—for reasons all his own. . . .

At first Kira isn’t interested in Knight’s motives. She only needs him—his body, his hands, his scent. But soon, through a daze of desire and distrust, Kira discovers Knight’s world—the world of a covert operative, one man among dozens of secret agents waging an astonishing global war. Knight’s mission is to bring Kira—kicking and screaming if necessary—into the Agency for Covert Rare Operatives and harness her extraordinary gift. He never expected the powerful emotions she would ignite in him, or the fierce desire to keep her safe from harm. For as darkness gathers around them, Kira is feeling the heat once again, leading them both on a wild ride of delicious thrills . . . and terror beyond imagining.

Sydney Croft is the alter-ego of two published authors who came together to blend their very different writing interests into adventurous tales of erotic paranormal fiction. Together, they developed a world where people with extraordinary abilities, like the power to control storms, could live and work with others like them. The series has been described as "Erotica meets the X-Men," and is unique in its own "erotic super hero romance" niche.

The authors behind Sydney Croft live in different states and communicate almost entirely through email, though they often get together for conferences and book signings.

Boy did I love this one. I'm really enjoying this ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives) series by Sydney Croft-- this one was so good it even brought tears to my eyes.

Kira Donovan's an animal whisperer, or animal psychic. She can talk to and communicate with animals in a way that no human can. In fact, she communicates better with animals than she does with humans. It's a special gift, but one that comes with a host of complications. The chief complication is the mating heat she has to endure for four weeks every year. At that time her sexual needs are so intense, she must mate every four hours or she'll die. It's kind of hard to have a regular life when the need to have sex is so strong, that just about any man will do, even strangers (which often creates problems). And not every man is up to the physical demands. Luckily Tom Knight is about to come into her life...

Tom's an agent for ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives). Tom's agency are the good guys, protecting the world from the evil plans of a rival agengy Itor. ACRO has many operatives with special skills--psychics, ghost hunters, mediums, telepathics, seducers, convincers, etc. Tom's an excedosapien--he can run faster than any normal human, has superior vision, and is also a former military sniper--basically, a super-human. It's Tom's job to convince Kira to agree to join ACRO before Itor gets to her, because Itor has plans to turn her into a WMD (weapon of mass-destruction). And if he can't convince her, he's to kill her, rather than risk Itor getting their hands on her. What starts out as just another job for Tom turns into a powerful need to protect Kira and keep her safe at all costs. Will the strong sexual need they bring out in each other also turn into an emotional connection that neither can turn their backs on?

Whoa, this was a hot, hot one! Things get off to a rip roaring start and never let up! There's lots of erotic sex in this one, as you can imagine (including one encounter where they go at it while driving down the highway--whew!). Kira is so animalistic and predator-like in her need to mate, and Tom is definitely up to the task. I felt sorry for Kira when we learn about her past and all she's had to put up with. She has no chance for a normal life with this mating heat she has to endure every year. She definitely wants a home, husband and children one day, but she can't see any way that's going to happen.

Tom's got problems of his own, mainly the guilt he feels about something he did (that was understandable) when he was in the military. He has almost no friends, no one to share his problems or dreams with, until Kira steps into his lonely life. She gradually wears him down with her love and affection, but he almost blows his chance with Kira in the end because he just can't get past his guilt and feelings of unworthiness.

I love this author's writing style. The stories are so original, and the pace is always fast, with never a dull moment. This one was not as hard to keep up with as the first book in the series, since it didn't have the burden of introducing the whole concept of the series and all the various characters and their special talents. This one was mainly about the romance between Tom and Kira, with continuing subplots about characters from the first book, Creed and Annika, and head of ACRO Dev O'Malley, and his returning lover 'Oz'. This book definitely got me hooked on the series, and I'm eager to read more about this fascinating group of 'special' people who work for ACRO. As a heads-up, this book has lots of hot, erotic sex, including spanking, and one m-m encounter, and some violence.

Holy cow, I liked "Unleashing the Storm", the second book of the ACRO/Storm series by Sydney Croft even better than the first! See my review of "Riding the Storm" (book one, Mar09 review) for the back story, but if you like action, wounded heroes, paranormal woo woo, and smoking sex...you really need to try this series.

Kira's had an affinity with animals since the day she was born. But once she hit sexual maturity, her affinity took a rather startling turn. She goes into heat, just like her animal friends. And if she doesn't have sex, and a whole lot of it, for four weeks...she'll die. When her two assistants at the animal shelter disappear right before her time begins, she's a bit worried. But when she catches sight of the second replacement, she's no longer worried...now she's just horny.

Nobody really likes Ender and he's just fine with that. After all, he doesn't like anybody either! And he's a killer, an assassin, and uses his nasty temperament to keep others at arms length...except for the women he uses and discards like candy. His orders are clear--bring Kira in to ACRO or kill her. And although he thought he knew about her mating heat, her constant presence does something to him and for the first time ever, his mission may take second place.

Woo hoo, these two were a roller coaster ride of dominance battles yet neither was mean or nasty about it. There's even a little bit of riding crop action! The best part of this story for me was the slow unfurling of the connection between Ender and Kira. Their struggles to try and keep their hearts safe from further hurt was touching...and hot at the same time. I also learned a bit more about the mysterious head of ACRO (and their enemy organization) and his love. And the secondary romance from the first book just keeps building in this one! Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler have penned another winner for me and now I'm off to read book three.

This was the second book in the ACRO series and it continued the two secondary stories that began in "Riding the Storm" (ACRO, #1), but had a new main story that had a lot of potential. Ender (Tom Knight) was first introduced as a minor character at the end of "Riding the Storm" and was a real BAD ASS, unliked by most. Throughout most of this book, I didn't like him, either!

The very end was his only likable moment and it was not enough for me. Kira, was a nice girl, but wow! She had a problem. She was an animal whisperer, but really she was part animal and had a 4-week HEAT cycle every spring. (eyebrows up) Tom (Ender) was cruel to her and I just didn't like him.

The two secondary stories also bugged me. In "Riding the Storm" I enjoyed reading about Annika and Creed and how their relationship was building, but here it was all...bad. Just blech! Annika got on my nerves and there was a lot of ambiguity on what was happening in Creed's life that was never answered. Annika was emotionally immature.

The other story was also a continuation of what began in "Riding the Storm" with Devlin "Dev" O'Malley (Director of ACRO), his ghost, and his former lover, Oz (ghost whisperer). This story had more playtime in this book and though I was unsure about it in book #1, I'm now positive that I do not care for m-m sex scenes in my romance books. It's a deal-breaker for This Reader.

There were a few places in the book that I felt I missed something, but it was later explained at the very end. Also, it was apparent that two people wrote this because there were overlapping explanations, often.

There wasn't enough action and I didn't feel the romance(s).

5+ stars – Paranormal Romance/Erotica

WOW! As much as I liked the first book Riding the Storm, the second book in the ACRO series, Unleashing the Storm, is even better…I LOVED it! The “erotica meets X-Men” series centers around ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives) heroes/heroines with paranormal abilities/powers battling it out with bad guys (and having lots of hot sex in the process).

Julie, Auntee, and Daisiemae all have great reviews on this, so check them out.

Unleashing the Storm has an inventive plot, great characters, exceptional writing, exciting action, and lots of erotic sex. Tom “Ender” Knight and Kira’s relationship is steamy, tender, sweet, and heart-wrenching, all at the same time. Their angst and emotional pain brought tears to my eyes more than once. I love Creed and hope that he and Annika can work out their drama and find their HEA together. The male/male romance between the ACRO leader Dev and ghost-medium Oz is a really nice addition to the story, and I hope they get a nice HEA too. I hated for Ender and Kira’s story to end, so I’m hoping that they will at least have some small part in future books in the series.

ACRO is a kick-butt, smoking hot paranormal erotica series! I can’t wait for book 4 Taming the Fire to come out in May and for more books in this awesome series.

Have you ever started a book mid-afternoon, then looked up and it be well past your bedtime that night? That is exactly what happened to me while reading Unleashing the Storm by Sydney Croft. It was so easy to get intrigued by the storyline and caught up in the world of ACRO, I literally lost track of time! It is filled with clever characters, lots of hot sex and an interesting plotline that kept me obsessed with finishing it in one setting. Believe me, any loss of sleep or neglect of housework was well worth the time it took to read this book!

The people of ACRO (Agency for Covert Rare Operatives) is in the business to protect and study people with special abilities. By working with and protecting these people, they also use their special abilities to keep the United States safe. The Itor Corporation is trying to find these special people first, and use them to destroy the United States and all of the freedom that comes with it.

Tom Knight (Ender) has a bad reputation. A loner and a born predator, he is not liked by his peers at ACRO, but he is always reliable to get the job done…regardless of who he has to kill or hurt to do it. When he gets the orders to bring Kira Donovan into the ACRO compound or else, he thinks it will be just another job. When he meets Kira, he is immediately drawn to her. He suddenly finds himself second-guessing his orders and decides to follow his instincts, just to keep her safe and sound. Plagued with secrets and bad memories that haunt him, he tries to keep her at a distance despite what his heart desires.

Kira Donovan can communicate with animals on many levels. As an Animal Psychic and activist, she lives to protect them and to keep them safe. Kira also has a BIG problem. She was born with animal DNA that affects her on many levels. Once a year she is plagued with being in heat. Because of this, her body must have sex every four hours. If it doesn’t get the required amount, she will get weak and die. The overwhelming heat she experiences and some of her actions from it, has caused her to be hurt and rejected by others, so she lives a life of solitude with her animals.

When Tom comes to Kira’s farm with the pretence of working for her, both are immediately attracted to one another. Soon, Kira explains to Tom that she needs him for more than just helping with the animals and fixing fences, in which Tom reluctantly complies. When he sees that Itor has sent someone to kidnap and possibly kill Kira, Tom takes matters into his own hands, and they go on the run.

This story has A LOT of sex in it. But, there is so much more to it. Along with Tom and Kira’s relationship there is a list of intriguing characters and fast paced plotline that keeps the book interesting to say the least. I thought the relationship between Kira and Tom was well thought out. Both have been hurt. Both have secrets, but they learn to rely and take chances with each other, and soon love and friendship begins to grow between them.

I loved Unleashing the Storm! So imagine my surprise and delight when I saw that this was actually the second book in this series. The first book is called Riding the Storm (which I immediately bought after I read this book). I had no problem reading and keeping up with the plotline without reading the first book first. I would also like to point out that the authors (yes there are two) Sydney Croft has a great website that explains the ACRO series in detail as well as what to expect in upcoming books. That website address is: http://www.sydneycroft.com/acro/index... .

There are a few things I want to warn some readers about. There is some M/M interaction, (not by hero) and some strong language and explicit sexual situations, if you are offended by this, this book is not for you.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to reading the entire ACRO series and keeping a special place for them on my keeper shelf.

The chemistry is steaming hot.
The suspense and the danger is non-stop.

Rating: 3.5...i ono, tis a toughie :o)

Once again, Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler have made a fine piece of paranormal romantica.

As with the first book, this installment follows numerous plot threads/ character perspectives. I happen to like the shifts between situations. The potential drawback, however, is that all elements may not be equally enjoyable.

I found this to be the case for a chunk of the "main" storyline featuring Tom "Ender" Knight and Kira Donovan. For some reason I couldn't get into their situation or bring myself to care much about either of them until about halfway through their storyline. I can't completely express why this is, but I will say that the early scenes felt a bit imbalanced with lots of sex and not so much focused plot. The second half picks up considerably, though.

The parts of the book that I really enjoyed throughout involved Annika and Creed, as well as Dev and Oz. They were a blast! Drama drama drama. ^_^ I'm usually not a huge fan of ghost stories (yes, I'm a whimp), but the storylines here were intriguing, mysterious (though perhaps bordering on "confusing" or "random" in one or two places) and enjoyable.

Though the main couple's story arc wraps up in this book, there's a larger arc (as well as the two aforementioned "supporting couple" plots) that stretch across books. So be prepared to read books 1-3 if you want to get the complete story.

It's a well-woven tale about the ACRO organization (real main character here), and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

OMG! I loved it. I couldn't put it down once I got to the good part. This one was so much better than the first installment in the series. I'm not giving the whole 5 stars-rating only because the beginning was a bit lame (Only sex and nothing really going on).

Unleashing the Storm has a much interesting plot, better characters, and exciting action, so be prepared for a great ride with this one. Tom “Ender” Knight and Kira’s relationship is so many things at the same time, you can't help to love them.I loved the two main characters, specially once they started to really care for each other. And seriously, in this book we have so many things going on, I almost even cried once, lol. I loved it. I stayed till 6 in the morning reading it and then at 10 I was up to work lol.

The other stories are amazing as well, it's like you don't even care that the story isn't about the two main characters at times because the others were great as well. I loved Creed and Annika's story and I hope that they can work out their drama and find their HEA together.Annika and Creed are amazing, I just wanna smack Annika hard in the head with something for not realizing how hot and great Creed is. Dev was a much more interesting character in this book, and I liked Oz as well, which is weird because I usually don't like m/m relationships, but I don't know, in this case it just made sense.

My only problem with this book was the beginning. I was bored with it, but it doesn't matter because then it got absolutely amazing! Let me know if someone is reading this series because I'm enjoying it a lot and I would love to discuss about it.

The second book in the ARCO series was as good as the first. Ender was a very likable hero and Kira seemed to be a great partner for him.
September 10, 2015
This is a solid 3.5 Stars

Let me start by saying that I still do love this series, however this book didn't have the same effect on me as the first one.

I couldn't really get into the story between Ender (Tommy!) and Kira. I liked Ender in the first book, I just wasn't that into the "I'm in heat and need sex every four hours" storyline. It took away from their story. Was it just her being in heat and putting out pheromones that got them together?

Kira seemed a bit needy for all her independent talk. Their sex wasn't even always that hot, as it was becoming mechanical due to the "heat" cycle. However, there was the one time with the handcuff chain that sounded pretty interesting :) Ender gives off the impression he's an ass, but you can tell he's a big softie, and in a way Kira's attachment to the animals, and now having them all around his house will be perfect for him. That was actually pretty funny when we get to see also the animals personalities.

The action and drama that we got in the first story seemed to be a bit lacking in this one as well, in my opinion. There wasn't big action for the main characters, whatever we got was from the side stories.

I did love all the side stories in this one! Annika and Creed, are still my favorite. I felt so bad for Annika and what she almost did at the end. In regards to their relationship, my heart broke at their/his final decision, but I really couldn't see him losing his powers! I cannot wait to read more about them! There wasn't even close to enough of their story in this book!

I enjoyed reading about the ACRO operative working "undercover" for Itor. Ryan/Bryan, what was his name? Anyway, he had a moment when he was looking through the eyes of another Itor op guy and he saw Annika. Could it be they're bringing this guy into the storyline? How's that going to tie in?

I enjoyed Dev and Oz's reunion as well. However, after parting ways three years ago in such a bad way, it seemed that they got together rather quickly and without any major talk. Can't give out spoilers, but I'm happy about what Dev got back!! And shocked as the revelation the ghost gives him. Where can the story go from here?

I am excited to read more about this series, and hopefully we'll stop reading about an agent having to recruit someone to join ACRO and actually start reading more about the actual operatives currently working for them, so we get to see the real story unfold!

I like this series, but I am not in love with it. Yes, the stories are hot and I really enjoy the characters and the plot--but what I have an issue with is the same as with most PNR books...they fall madly in love way too quickly. I know it is a series about people with super human strength/powers, so, we are not really dealing with a story line based in our reality, but the falling in love time line is one element I would like to alter because it changes the feel of the book for me.

I thought Ender/Tom and Kira's story was great. Loved the back story that has continued from book 1 about the stormy developing relationship between Creed and Annika. Liking the good vs evil plot between ACRO and Itor. The time line for Tom and Kira was just off for me--seriously, they are in love after less than 2 weeks? That is LUST people!

I will continue the series for sure, because I am interested to see what happens with Dev and his boy toy, as well as his new father figure. Annika and Creed seem to be getting their act together as a couple, so I am looking forward to that as well. I just have to make sure to space these books out so I don't get bored.

The heroine in this story is an unapologetic sexually aggressive woman. She knows her nature and she's okay with it. I like that.

The paranormal bits to this story- of one covert group of ambiguous good guys (ARCO) attempting to get one over the unambiguous bad guys (Itor Corp) in a race to see who can (or more accurately deserves) to control the weather- makes this story even better.

This edition is about ACRO bringing in yet another operative to harness her paranormal gift... before Itor does. The operative chosen to bring her in is hawt, and he thought he was all cold hearted and usey- until he realizes she's something he truly does desire to get to know- so yeah, the H/h pairing worked for me.

This series is definitely romantica- it's romance novel material with potty mouth and frank sexual encounters. I'm okay with that as long as it blends seamlessly. Which it does. It is not, for some reason, a series that engages me completely- like I dont' feel the need to run out and get the next entry as soon as I'm finished with the last. So it's not a 5 star read for me, not even a 4 & 1/2. Yet I like it more than average because I like the idea of ACRO (Agency for Covert Rare Operatives). It just needs a little bit more depth in the over-arching plot.

Also, the fact that the books thus far are not focusing enough on one main H/h, (There are tons of side characters with their own sub-stories playing out in each novel), we never really get to know the characters well enough to fully engage. Perhaps it's just a timing thing- this is afterall, only the second in the series. So 4 out of 5 for me.

On a general note, I like the concept of this series: ACRO, an Agency where people with super-human abilities are gathered to work for the good of the world as opposed to its evil counterpart, ITOR.

This series is very heavy on the sex - bordering on boring - because really, after a while your reading feels as sore as the protagonists of the book. It's entertaining though. I didn't really care for the main couple but I didn't dislike them either. I think there were aspects of Kira's ability that were added during the story as an additional touch, but the story line is simple and since I like animals, I liked the way she could interact with them. Ender was rough but caring, but he was more interesting when he was bantering with Remy or arguing with Dev than when he was with Kira. I think he's sharper edge was smoothed down.

I was more interested in the side stories, especially Dev, his former lover Oz and Dev's past. Maybe it's because ghosts appeal to me, but Dev, Oz and Creed are my favorite characters. I didn't like Annika very much, I can't understand what she has in his mind.

It's a series that I'll read again in the future, but I feel no real urgency to grab the next book.

This was a quick read, an in-one-day read; it was also a sexy, HOT read! I enjoyed that the author(s) started off with a bang and just kept bangin' after. The characters were likable and pretty well developed, but there were some secondary ones discussed that were introduced in ACRO #1 who just jumped in; the original backstory of ACRO needed a bit of page-time as well. Not quite a stand-alone.

The premise of this book (A woman who can talk to animals and lives at an animal sanctuary has an annual animal-like heat during which she has to have semen (yep, that's what I said) every 4 hours during this period or she'll die. She would prefer PMS instead, I think. ACRO agent is sent to convince her to join them or kill her so she won't be taken by nasty competitor ITOR. They have sex together, so much and so often that I kinda lost interest there for a while. They arrive back at ACRO HQ after run-ins with the bad guys, yada yada, and the solitary H/H figure love is not for them - but it is! They just had to admit it.) is pretty silly and not as believable as some other PNR authors. But I came away interested in Dev (who runs ACRO) so I'm sure I'll keep reading this series.

i liked this book, but not nearly as much as Remy and Haley's book. i can't quite put my finger on it, but i think that there was so much push and pull away going on between Ender and Kira, that i'm not convinced it will stay an HEA at the end of the day.

a part of me really like Ender. yea, he was an a$$, a lot, but that's just his make up, that's who he is. but one second he was so cold and distant to Kira, and then all of a sudden, he was like, "yeah, let's try our hand at a relationship," only to again later become cold and distant and push Kira away further. so, again, i guess i'm not convinced that that won't happen later.

and w/ Kira, i felt like she pushed herself on him too much, was too clingy. i get her animalistic nature and all, but when i read that she had been rearranging his furniture and stuff, it just seemed a little too much, a little too crazy.

i don't know...maybe a second read will cause me to think differently.

what i do know, though, is that i LOVE Creed and Annika's story, as well as Dev and Oz. i am really looking forward to the next story and seeing more of the both of those couples as well.

I've read a few of the reviews for this book and was afraid I wouldn't like it but I thought this was almost as good as the first. That being said, I never thought I'd feel so sorry for the guy getting to have sex all the time especially in a book where the author is trying to make the sex hot. Kira is some kind of animal whisperer that goes into heat one a year and MUST have sex every 4 hours for about six weeks or she'll die. Usually she lines up a few guys to help her out but this time all she has is Tom who is able to handle it although his "Tinky Winky" is getting awfully sore. Through all that, they make a connection.

Thrown into the story is Dev and Oz, lovers who are reunited, and the ongoing relationship problems between Creek and Annika.

I have book #3 and am looking forward to reading it. Would recommend the book/series.

This was such a great read. Better than the first one on many levels.

For starters, I liked the hero better. Ender is huge and sexy and runs like the wind... Not a nice guy but bad guys we love!
Kira was kinda "meh" for me, though. To be honest, I found her a bit irritating.

Then there were the sex scenes. Scorching hot. The things you can do with a pair of handcuffs.

The subplots were so captivating, at times I found myself more interested in Dev and Oz or Creed and Annika than in the main characters. I don't know which of the two authors is responsible for those parts but kudos.

The whole ACRO-Itor war, the good fighting the bad ... The plot thickens in this installment and makes you want to read the next book to see what happens. And that's something I'm gonna be doing very very soon.

So in this book we meet the Animal couple, when Ender (Or just Tom) finds his bitch.. (Hmm.. Ok, that would have been funnier if Kira, his mate, was a female dog and not a cat, but whatever, I cant have it all;)

Once again the main couple in the book did absolutly nothing for me, while I couldnt get enough of the side stories.. 2nd book in a row.. What is up with that?

Can I just pleeeease have a book with Dev & Oz and/or Creed and The Swede?

I really want to give this book 2 stars, cause the Aminal couple defo didnt do it for me, but then I think about how much I love Dev, Creed and the Swede, so for them I'll add another.

3 stars..

I thought this book was definitely better than the first of the series, not that the first was bad or anything. I think you just felt more connected to the main couple better in this. I do warn people though that there is a male/male relationship in this series if that isn't your cup of tea. My only complaint is I like the couple Annika and Creed a lot, and felt like I wanted a bit more of them. Otherwise, I thought the book was great.

4.5 rating! I loved this book like the first, but Ender "Tom" got on my nerves a little bit towards the end. This series is following along really well and I love the world that they have created. I also love the intertwined stories with Creed and Annika and Dev and Oz. I need Annika to wisen up and be with Creed already. Grr!

Safe to say I’m in it now. Team ARCO all the way! Kira & Ender’s story was steamy hawwwy, which after two books I’ve come to expect, but theirs also had allllll the feels. Couple of points there this self-confessed paranormal smut lover teared up. I love how ballsy (not a pun...) this series is, the authors holding nothing back in creating a world of super-humans I’ve not read before. Add in the good guys vs bad guys vibe, the under plots within the plots and the fact that the good guys sometimes come off as the bad guys - and I’m hooked. So many characters I want more on, neeeeed more on, so it’s on to book 3!

* This is definitely a case of me kicking myself for not reading these books (five years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️) when I clicked them * #ClassicBookAddictLament

Kira is an animal psychic and somewhat like an animal herself, who is very powerful. Tom “Ender” is the excedosapien sent by ACRO to recruit her or kill her. As seems to be the theme with Croft’s writing, there’s a lot of sex, mostly because Kira has a spring heat where if she doesn’t get sex regularly, she dies. The main characters were ok but it was somewhat hard to follow the evolution of their relationship. At the end of this book, I read the author note. It turns out it is “authors” as Croft is a joint effort between Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler, which is kind of cool. I’ve read some of Ione’s Demonica series but none of Tyler’s other work yet. I read the ebook. 3.5/5

While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I really loved this visit back into the world of ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives). ACRO is an organization very similar to the X-Men. Somewhat military group where people have different special powers. There is even a group of bad supernaturals, ITOR, which ACRO are up against.

We meet our hero, Ender, in the first book. He is former military (like many of the ACRO agents). He also has abilities like a cheetah. He has great speed, among other things. He is also a bit of a loaner. Even his teammates give him a wide berth. He is very good at what he does, just don’t ask him to attend social functions. He is tasked with bringing in Kira willingly or no. If he isn’t able to bring her in, he has to put her down to keep her out of the enemy’s hands.

Kira is an animal whisperer. She has the ability to actually talk to the animals, some species more than others. The smarter the species, the better her ability to talk to them. This ability doesn’t come without complications. Kira comes into “heat” every spring. She not only has to have sex every four hours, she must have unprotected sex to get the man’s seed in her for these or she dies. She is immune to human diseases, but not animal ones (she had to go to a vet for Parvo once) and she is on the pill to prevent pregnancy. She is not a fan of the “heat” cycle. It is quite the hassle and really makes sex little more than a chore for her.

I really enjoyed this book. While this series has even more sex than most paranormal romance novels (I would call this paranormal erotica), it isn’t out of control. There is still character development and a plot. Even with a character that must have sex every four hours, there are several times where the author kept the plot going with “He serviced her” or “After her needs were met…” Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of sex scenes, but there is also plot and when called for, the author put the plot ahead of the sex scenes, which I appreciate.

These two also didn’t have insta-love. It took a while for the relationship to build. They had to work through all their issues, on both sides, before they were able to come together. There are even times where they split because they think things just won’t work (nothing new in the romance world), where Kira spends a little time with our couple from book one, Riding the Storm.

There are also a few side plots going on in this story that were a continuation of Riding the Storm. We learn more about Creed and Annika. You can see them working through a lot of tough issues between them. It is hard because Creed is the only person Annika can have sex with without electrocuting to death, but there are commitment issues. Creed is looking for more that a general lay.

The other great side story is Devlin, the leader of this merry band of supernaturals. He is trying to figure out who the mole is, so he calls in an old friend and lover, Oz. He needs someone that he trusts implicitly to help him figure how these intimate details of the organization are getting out to the enemy.

This is a fun, action-packed story filled with some really fun supernaturals. I would love to have Kira’s powers to talk to animal (minus the requirement of sex every four hours or death part). I think it would be so cool to talk to animals all the time. The one issue I had with this was that she has a hard time talking to birds, but birds are some of the smartest species in the animal kingdom, so I don’t understand why she wouldn’t be able to talk to them.

While there is a lot of sex in this story, I didn’t feel as overwhelmed by it as I was in the first book. In Unleashing the Storm, I felt that the plot always continued to move forward, even with the sex. When the action needed more attention, the authors were great at mentioning that the Kira still had to have her sex, but it was just the mention and then back on to the plot. Then when it made sense to the flow of the story, there was a very well written sex scene without losing the flow of the story.

While this is the second book of the series, I think you could read this one without having read Riding the Storm first. The good guys and bad guys are very well explained. However, if you want to read the entire series, it might not be a bad idea to read in order, more for the side stories than the main story.

Book 2 in the ACRO series follows Kira, a woman who can speak to and understand animals, and Ender, the agent with extreme speed and heightened sense ability. He's the tough guy on a mission to recruit her and even though she's going through her yearly heat and needs sex from him once they meet, neither of them expect the intense connection that forms between them. Theirs is a lovely story of finding your mate under the most unlikely of circumstances. We also get more development between star-crossed lovers Dev and Oz. Even better is the continuing story of Creed and Annika. Here they are in a dark period, as Creed longs for a commitment that Annika fights at every turn. As each sexual encounter draws them closer, though, it's impossible to deny that this relationship that started all about sex has evolved into something resembling love, and that scares them both. They are a beautiful couple that has intensified this whole series for me.

Better than the first. Kira kinda bothered me at first. But then I kinda felt sorry for her, I mean that must be rough. Loved Ender. He was so rough around the edges and didn't really change all that much by the end of the book .Although I so wanted to smack him after.... well if you read it you know what I mean.
Loved the ending! Yep I am a sap. Creed and Annika are killing me. I mean come on! What did he choose? Then can I just say I'm happy that Oz is back! Although I don't know about his new position, cause well I don't know that character all that well yet. What the hell happened to Ryan? I hope that we find out soon cause that was left wide open not to mention the secret about Dev that was thrown out there. Wow.

Another great book in the ACRO series!

it took a bit of getting used to 'Tommy' cause to us readers he was Ender, big male and powerful...and then he gets reduced to Tommy? hm :)

These books seem to hit it off with mega-hot sex, all over the pages and then they settle down and you get the story... there was more effort put into it and I'm glad for that! the ACRO history is developping, we get the meet the 'real bad guy' and hurray for Dev and Oz! I felt a bit rushed in the first 60 pages but after that: fabulous and exciting!

it's a 500+ pages but I really did not notice.... love these books, have already dived in to part 3 and boy it's hot 'n steamy ;) Yay!

This book was great! Really sexy and great characters. The whole mating heat thing was kind of strange, but I got into it by the end of the book. However, it was a helluva lot like this one...

Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione

Larissa- please stop canibalizing your ideas! You are better than that girlfriend! Anyways, this one was a lot of fun but I think I will be taking a break from the series for now.
