nteresting diary of how working the Abramelin working over a period of several months altered and changed the life of the author. The working was done over a nine month period and the author like most of us had to interact with the secular/mundane world.Like most of us we could not just retire from the world and do our working,so modifications had to be made. While doing this working the author noted many changes in his world that affected both him and his family members. Having to do operations and prayer andd meditation along with fasts tended to make one feel somewhat disconnected from reality. The working brings about change and confusion. Dreams are effected as well as the author was flooded with memories and very strange dream that often times invovled religious experience both Pagan and monotheistic. His family member were also visited by dreams and sometimes even nightmares. In the physical world things would begin to knock over, cats would hiss and the family would hear strange sounds both day and night.
What is the purpose of the Abramelin working you might ask? The purpose is conversation and contact with your holy guardian angel. Contact with your angel changes your reality. It brings you enlihgtenment and disorientation. The results are worth it but In will add my own caveat. Such a working should probably be done under some contact of guidance of an actual physical mentor or teacher. The book does not give any in depth ritual steps or incense recipes and on the surface of things it gives you a rather cursory glance.
For me the book opened up several doorways. First off it is reconnecting me to the deep spiritual tradition of Western Mysticism. This includes Sufi, Kabballah and Christian mysticism. There is some deep stuff there that any magical worker should not ignore. There are also references to several awesome books to read for further investigation. I may never do the working in my life time but I did pull out several things that could assist me in developing my spiritual practice. I will most likeley include them in a longer review included on my blog granovitch.blogspot.com. I gave this book 4/5 stars.

The first book that I ever read on someone who actually completed the Abramelin Operation. I will recommend this book highly simply for the fact of the magical property that it possesses. While, it is mainly a journal of Marcus Katz during his 6 month Abramelin operation; I found that my own soul was personally pulled into this work while I read it. Almost like I was partaking of the operation with him. I can't explain it in words as it is hard to explain. This book is legit and possess a certain magical property on its own right.

A very interesting read.
I bought this because I find the words of Marcus Katz to be enlightening. I knew this was a journal of his workings and I was hoping to get a better understanding of what I could do better in my journaling practices.
It was nice to see that the entries weren't flowery or overly wordy descriptions of his experiences. The entries are similar to what I have written, quick notes to document the important impression and actions taken. His approach to the work is practical and his determination to see it through is inspiring.
The Abramelin rituals are beyond my capabilities at this time, so I don't know when or if I will seek out my Angel. I have much to learn about working with angels and even more about rituals.
After The Angel has encouraged me to continue to seek my own path to find my Holy Guardian Angel

The best part of this book is DuQuette's introduction. A fairly boring journal of a magicians attempt at the HGA...I like some of Katzs' work, but there's something a bit off about a Magician publishing a private journal of a very complex and life changing rite.
I wondered while reading if Katzs' plan was always to publish the journal...and it greatly lessened his words and the sincerity of his efforts.

Author Marcus Katz provides a day-by-day account of what it was like to perform the Abramelin Operation, a lengthy, intense magical/spiritual process which results in Knowledge of and Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel. Although I would have appreciated a few more details -- especially about the aftermath of the Operation -- Katz does provide a vivid glimpse into the possibilities of spiritual transformation.
