All right! The very first Bob's Burgers comic book, a new series from the creator of the hit TV show, created by Loren Bouchard! Now you can read about the Belcher family (parents Bob and Linda, and their children Tina, Gene and Louise) in brand-new in-canon stories created by the TV show's producers, writers and animators creating all original stories appearing exclusively in this comics series. Each comic includes hilarious installments of: "Louise's Unsolved Mysteries," "Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction," "A Gene Belcher Original Musical," "Letters Written by Linda" and "Bob's Burgers of the Day." Bob's Burgers is an American animated sitcom that airs on Fox television with other hits such as The Simpsons and Family Guy!
It's like the writers of the show got together and said:
"Hey! What should we do with all these rejected ideas?" "We could burn them." "Yeah, we probably should burn them." "Hey! Or we could let someone turn them into a mildly entertaining comic book."
If your a fan of the show, it's likely you will enjoy this comic. The characters are written in such a way that you can hear their signature voices clearly in your head as you read their words on the page. Each comic contains a series of shorts one of which is Tina's hilarious Erotic Friend Fiction. Each Belcher child gets their own segment while, for the time being, Bob and Linda each get an amusing solo page in which Bob brainstorms Burger of the Day ideas while Linda writes ever so helpful advice letters. A must read for fans craving more of one of the funniest animated shows on television.
It's all cool cause the mini stories follow the character's voice and it's pretty accurate but they're not that funny. It clearly doesn't reach the standard that the show got me used to...and I love the show.
I got a trial of Comics Plus through the library where I work, so I read this to test out the interface. Cute, with tone and pacing similar to the show, though I didn't find it as funny. It's a series of little mini-stories rather than a sustained narrative, so there isn't the drive to find out what happens next that powers most of my comics reading experience. So I'm glad I read it, but I don't feel like I have to continue reading the series.
As a fan of the TV show, I jumped at the chance of reading the comic when I saw it available for loan on Comics Plus. The first volume of the comic offers shorts featuring members of the family, starting off with the odd imaginings of Tina Belcher. The format was okay, but it doesn't follow the lengthier stories that made the show great. As such, I didn't enjoy it as well. However, it is enjoyable enough for me to read other volumes.
I'd never even heard of the series, but I received this short comic book from someone (I honestly don't remember who it was, sorry) when it was a gift from Humble Bundle. And it was a very good gift.
I really enjoyed it. Every family member had his/her own 'sketch' and they were fun. I don't know to what degree it's similar to the series, but after reading this I want to check it out. Especially the one with the musical song was great (since I just love musicals) and I really liked the one 'from' each parent as well. They were very short, but very sweet.
Bought these because I love the show. I thought the comic would be one story, but it's really three short stories, with little tidbits in between. Would give it one more star, but the end of the picture day story with Louise was sort of a loose end, I felt. Cute comic, just not what I was expecting.
I love the tv show Bob's Burgers to death, but the stories in this debut issue feel like the writers half-arsed it. That said, I love the Bob's Burgers puns and Linda's suggestions to the women's magazine, which makes me wonder if the jokes are only good if they are contained to a single page?
The Belchers are back and in comic book form. Tina is an adorable wittle horse, Louise hates picture day and Gene is infused into a burger suit. Burger sled!!! Burger sled!!!
Ahahahaaaa, I love this! Cannot wait for more! Featuring the stories of Gene, Tina and Louise, this comic is sure to be enjoyed by anyone who likes Bob's Burgers as a tv show.
Such cute drawings! It doesn't hurt that I've spent hours upon hours upon hours with the show playing the background... so reading a comic is super easy for me. :D
