LOVED! Keira Andrews wowed me again with this one!
It's been so long since I've had a book that I couldn't put down that I actually forgot how it felt. That feeling of I need to keep reading just doesn't happen for me that often anymore, and so I (unwisely) started this book at about 11 pm last night. At 4 am this morning, I was kicking myself, but I just couldn't put it down!
Certain parts of this book were exactly my taste and certain parts were not my usual fare, however they came together to make a book that was 100% compulsively readable.
I was nervous when I started this one. I wasn't expecting the story to be so suspense-y and so anxiety-inducing. Blame me for not reading the blurb (I have a tendency to do that), but any books involving children in danger, especially children around the same age as my own, is usually a no-go for me. I'm almost glad I didn't know more going into it because I'm not sure I would have taken a chance on this one otherwise.
Aside from the danger and the scary parts, the romance was 1000000% my thing. I have a big weakness for an age-gap romance, and if you combine that with a first time gay experience.... WHEW, you've got me hooked!! Parts reminded me a little of A Second Harvest, but only very superficially.
I absolutely was in love with the romance in this story. The intensity picks up quickly, but the emotion was just all there for me. I got choked up from the beginning from the backstory between Ben and his ex, and Jason being a single dad... my emotions just took a jump to the forefront.
There aren't a ton of sex scenes, but they were sooooo worth the wait. Just my taste, just my thing, but a tiny bit of kink to make it that much juicier (wink, wink). Keira Andrews just gets me!
And that epilogue! GAH!! It will make you believe in happy endings and love again. I finished the book with happy tears and a mushy heart and that blissful feeling of when a story hits all the right spots.
I think I'll go take a nap now...

This isn't a typical romance, but Keira Andrews doesn't do typical; she has a wide range and writes with equal ease about the gay Amish as she does about the zombie apocalypse.
Road to the Sun is part love story, part suspense/thriller, part sexual discovery.
What begins as a tale of two men—Ben, a lonely 41-year-old ranger, and Jason, a timid 25-year-old single father, meeting and tentatively forming a friendship—turns into a scary, heart-pounding adventure when Jason's 8-year-old daughter Maggie is abducted by a killer hiding in the wilderness.
That sounds très dramatique, but the plot arc is incredibly well done. Andrews shows us a father's desperate grief and the overwhelming guilt Ben feels over leading Jason and Maggie on a hike so far away from the campgrounds. We are not told how the characters feel; we experience it with them.
I was worried each man would blame the other, but that didn't happen. They frantically search for Maggie and then deal with the aftermath in the only way they know how.
While Ben forms a strong attachment to Jason and really believes they could have a future, Jason is terrified. Jason is all about the routine. He doesn't like change. Maggie has always been his whole world. Jason isn't Jason, a sexual being, a man with his own interests who pursues romance; Jason is Maggie's dad. Period.
Maggie is an adorable, precocious little girl who read a little old for her age. I have a lot of experience with kids, and Maggie talked and acted more like a 10 or 11 year old than an 8 year old, but I'm willing to give that a pass since much was made of her intelligence and fascination with nature.
Even though Jason and Ben don't know each other well, the connection between them—sexual and otherwise—was palpable. I would usually roll my eyes at two people falling in love after spending just a few days together, but I think tragedy can bring people closer and allow them to feel emotions they'd typically bury.
Road to the Sun is lovely in so many ways; the suspense doesn't take over the romance, and the few steamy scenes are tender and passionate.
The epilogue delivers an amazing HEA. I'm not kidding. A-MAZE-ING, one of the best HEAs ever.

This story was yet another shining example of just how good Keira Andrews is at what she does. I mean, at this point, no one is sitting around questioning if the woman can write. It’s simply a fact. It doesn’t even matter what topics or genres Andrews is tackling; she approaches everything with a deft hand, creating one gripping narrative after another, always featuring characters that carry emotional depth and feel tangible to the reader.
Whoops, I got lost fangirling there for a minute. #sorrynotsorry
But I digress…
The synopsis sums this one up perfectly. I loved the suspenseful stuff in the middle - it kept the story exciting and created great opportunities for the MCs (Jason and Ben) to experience some realistic emotional upheaval, yet it never overpowered the characters themselves or their developing relationship, which I appreciated.
I loved the fusion of themes Andrews’ created here; this story truly displayed a perfect blend of suspense thriller and family drama, and was certainly a sweet and passionate love story which featured some authentic moments of sexual discovery for MC Jason. I enjoy all these elements separately, but mix them together with Andrews’ expert hand and you’re guaranteed a stimulating read.
I honestly have no idea why it took me so long to read this book, but I’m now finally caught up and clearly more than satisfied with my reading experience.

I have read multiple books written by Keira Andrews, and so far I have loved every one of them. Though this book isn't my favorite by this author, I did really enjoy it.
Jason is a 25 year old single father, trying to raise his 8 year old daughter as best as he can. Maggie was born, after a curious and awkward stumble with his best friend, when Jason was 17 years old. Maggie's mother died in a terrible accident, when Maggie was only a few months old. Instead of being supportive, Jason's parents wanted to take Maggie from him and raise them as their own....even going as far as taking him to court.
Jason however, wanted to be Maggie's father and raise her himself, so he took his daughter and left. It hasn't been easy, doing everything on his own, trying to make enough money so he could offer his daughter a good life, but he did it. Jason has never had the time or interest to start a relationship with someone. His daughter always comes first and for Jason this means putting all his own needs aside....
Now, father and daughter are camping in a nature park in Montana and his world is about to be rocked in two different ways. One comes in the form of a sexy park ranger....the other in the form of criminal on the run.
Ben is a 41 year old park ranger, who has recently had his dreams shattered. After spending almost 2 decades with the same man, his boyfriend has left him to marry a movie-star and adopt a baby, destroying all Ben's hopes and dreams in the process.
When working as a tour-guide one day, he meets Jason and Maggie. Ben and Maggie immediately have a click, bonding over nature. With Jason though, he feels lust at first sight, even though he isn't quite sure about Jason's sexuality. He intends to find out though...real soon. The two of them strike up a tentative friendship and Ben plans to try and take things a bit further...soon.
But all the plans Ben has made in his head, of approaching Jason this way, fall apart, when a criminal on the run kidnaps Maggie while they are hiking. What follows is an emotional search, while Jason does his best not to fall apart.
When Maggie is found and safe in the hospital, Jason has his emotional break-down, which leads to comfort and much much more. Now this book isn't filled with steamy scenes and it takes some time for the two of them to come together, but what was there, was very HOT
"I like it messy. I want to roll you over and fuck you, make it good for you, make you come. Then I want to jerk off on you and see my cum on your skin".
But where will they go from here. Jason has Maggie to think of first, and Ben has a job he loves halfway across the country.....
This was a very nice read and I love stories where there is an age-gap between the MC's. The angst centers mostly aroud the kidnapping and Jason's fear of not being a good father.
It was quite heavy on the insta-love. These men only know each other a week and already feel, as if they are in love and can't live without each other. It also has a very satisfying epilogue, which will leave a huge smile on your face.

Second chances at life. At achieving your dreams. Of finding love and family. Keira Andrews has done it again. I truly enjoyed this May/September romance.
At 25, Jason Kellerman is too young to have an 8 year old daughter (everyone says so). He's also proof that determination and dedication can really go a long way in life. Jason comes from a wealthy family and should have had a successful future. But youthful curiosity with his best friend Amy resulted in Maggie being born when Jason was 17. That event changed the course of Jason's life in ways he could never have predicted. But Maggie is his world and I loved seeing him prove everyone wrong. Maggie is smart, outgoing and pretty much a force of nature. As much as I often don't care for kids in my books, I liked Maggie.
Ben Hettler is 41 and stuck in a part of his life he no longer wants. He loves being a park ranger, but he wants so much more out of life. And not having his cheating ex, who is also now his boss, flaunt his new husband and baby is at the top of the list. Ben wants a family of his own, but sees few prospects in the middle of nowhere Montana. Ben doesn't normally go for younger guys, but Jason is older than his years would suggest. And he's a really good father.
What I really loved about Road to the Sun was just how shy Jason was. He's never allowed himself to even contemplate being with another person. But with Ben, he can't seem to avoid thoughts of "what if"? He's never explored his sexuality -- he wouldn't even let himself think about it, at all. I hated his family for doing that to him. For making him feel like he wasn't allowed to have anything for himself. But once he gave himself permission to explore, he and Ben were all kinds of sexy.
And I also loved just how nurturing Ben was. He treated Jason like an equal and he was amazing with Maggie, never dismissing her or talking down to her. Ben could have been like everyone else and tried to tell Jason how to raise his daughter. Instead, Ben saw that Jason has done a truly amazing job on his own.
Their attraction to one another was a low hum for the first part of the book. Jason was finally considering something for himself when tragedy struck and Maggie was taken. And I don't even want to imagine what that would be like for a parent.
You learn what a person is really made of when awful things happen and Ben and Jason became a team. And, though Jason does some amazingly stupid things, he was a parent in a desperate situation, so I understood.
And a bond that started forming before tragedy struck, became stronger after it's resolution. It still took Jason a little while to figure out that he is allowed to reach for happiness, and he did run away before he figure out that he is really allowed to have something for himself. In fact, Maggie is the one that finally gets through to him (Go Maggie!) And it takes Ben a little while to figure out he doesn't have to stay in his rut, either. Once they get there, though? Their HEA really was truly beautiful.

I am quickly becoming a romantic suspense fan and this one was exactly what I needed. And it had such a cute romance that I was just obsessed. Jason is 25 and the single dad of an 8 year old girl. He works so hard to give his daughter the life she deserves, and they finally have enough money to go camping in the mountains, which his daughter has always wanted to do. They meet Ben, who's a park ranger, and Ben and Jason are immediately attracted to each other, but neither one of them wants to make a move. Ben offers to take them on various hikes, but one takes a turn for the worse when Jason's daughter is kidnapped by a killer on the run. This book was so fast-paced and I could not put it down! I loved how slow and sweet the romance between Jason and Ben was. Jason was adorable with how dedicated he was to his daughter and how he would literally sacrifice everything for her. He was so hard on himself and I just wanted him to put himself first when it came to his love life. I had no idea how they were going to get Jason's daughter back or how they were going to make their relationship work. I was hooked until the end and would definitely recommend picking this book up!

I really liked this father daughter story. Even with the drama it still turned out to be a sweet read.
Jason is 25 and the young father of 8 year old Maggie. Jason being the good dad he is has taken his daughter on a camping trip in the mountains of Montana. Maggie loves everything nature and is very knowledgeable in this area. While doing a planned trail they meet Ranger Ben. He's very sweet and patient with Maggie answering any and all her questions. Jason takes notice of not only how nice he's being to his daughter but also to his looks. He brushes it off as him just admiring another mans physique because he could never manage to have that kind of body. But soon Jason comes to realize that the reason he gets nervous and fumbles his words and gets flutters in his stomach around Ben is because he's attracted to him. Jason is more accepting of this new found attraction then most would be. I'm glad there wasn't a lot of drama surrounding his epiphany. He accepted it and moved on.
Ben is 41 and has been just going through the motions of life since the break up with his ex, Brad. It's still pretty awkward between him and his ex especially since Brad is Ben's boss. Things between the men didn't end well and there is still some hurt and anger there on Ben's end. He hasn't really moved on. He's not in love with Brad anymore, he's just stuck in the hurt and anger. But it all changes when he meets the young father Jason and his sweet girl Maggie. He joins them a lot on there adventures and he is enjoying spending time with them. He's attracted to Jason and is hoping something will happen between them. But all that comes to a pause when while on one of their trails Maggie is kidnapped by a wanted killer.
Jason is beside himself with guilt and fear. He refuses to give up on tracking down Maggie. From here on it's pretty tense with the search and rescue. I liked how this was handled and was glued to the pages as it played out.
This isn't the only drama. There is some with Jason's parents as well. Then a little bit with him and Ben.
Although I felt the chemistry between him and Ben, I didn't really get to enjoy them together since there was so little of them being a couple and being together. I wish there was more of them on page and more development in their relationship because it came together quite quickly for me. I missed the build up. Then they were together and the book was over. It wasn't enough for me.
The book was still really enjoyable and really loved the relationship between father and daughter.
If your looking for something that is sweet with a bit drama give this one a go.

I really liked this father daughter story. Even with the drama it still turned out to be a sweet read.
Jason is 25 and the young father of 8 year old Maggie. Jason being the good dad he is has taken his daughter on a camping trip in the mountains of Montana. Maggie loves everything nature and is very knowledgeable in this area. While doing a planned trail they meet Ranger Ben. He's very sweet and patient with Maggie answering any and all her questions. Jason takes notice of not only how nice he's being to his daughter but also to his looks. He brushes it off as him just admiring another mans physique because he could never manage to have that kind of body. But soon Jason comes to realize that the reason he gets nervous and fumbles his words and gets flutters in his stomach around Ben is because he's attracted to him. Jason is more accepting of this new found attraction then most would be. I'm glad there wasn't a lot of drama surrounding his epiphany. He accepted it and moved on.

I waited a long time to read this because of the mixed reviews, but I should never doubt Keira Andrews. I loved Jason and Ben.
41yo Ben was so perfect, gorgeous, loving children, sweet, protective. He always wanted a husband and children, but his partner of 20 years was never ready. Until he was ready with his new lover. God. I hated Brad.
25yo Jason. It’s been just him and Maggie forever, and he never dated or even looked at anyone, so he has no idea he is gay until he meets Ben. And really notices Ben. But he feels guilty. He should be focusing on Maggie.
8yo Maggie was adorable but often read too old for her age, more like a preteen.
The pacing was a bit off. I think more development before the kidnapping would have been better? The kidnapping part and man chase had me hooked, not wanting to put the book down. But the aftermath and relationship development felt rushed. Still, I loved Jason and Ben together. So sweet and yet so scorching hot.
The epilogue and picture perfect little family made my heart so happy. Their hard earned happiness was perfect. Except for all that forgiveness. Brad and Jason’s parents didn’t deserve them.

This low rating pains me because Keira Andrews but this didn't work at all for me.
At first it was all about Jason and Maggie, then it was all about the mystery, then it was Jason and his parents, then Jason and his brother, then Jason and Maggie again. The MCs didn't get a lot of page time together. Actually, after the mystery/suspense got resolved Sorry, the romance felt too little and forced. Also, Maggie didn't sound like a 8 year old to me, but older.
So, 2.5 rounded up for the lovely epilogue.

People thought he can’t handle the situation with her, even his own parents (actually they wanted to take her from him and raise her as his sister, WTH!). but he somehow showed they were wrong and in fact he is a fantastic father even with wrong decisions. He was a little overwhelmed with everything and that was my big problem with him, besides his insecurity.
Ben is a forty-one-year-old ranger. The ranger of the park that Jason and Maggie have gone for vacation. They met each other there and Ben became interested in Jason. Unlike Jason, Ben knows he is gay. After spending two decades of his life with his ex, their relationship ended because of his ex’s affair.
Jason doesn’t know there is a killer in the park. For just thirty seconds Maggie was out of his sight and then… So I think you can imagine what happens next! Poor Maggie!
"He desperately wanted to retreat into Ben’s arms so he could forget, only for a minute. Waiting in the dark, he was utterly powerless, and he wanted to shut off his mind and connect with Ben—warm, breathing, soothing. He yearned to feel anything but soul-shattering terror."
The story is started off great but after some reading I got bored and distracted but at some point, I enjoyed it too. For the characters I loved Maggie. She was so smart and brave for her age. It’s told in multiple POV, 3rd person. it’s a standalone story. Hope you like it more than me!

This one was pretty good. It didn't wow me and it wasn't my favorite Keira Andrews but I liked it.
Nothing to really complain about. Other than maybe the low steam.
Likable characters. Decent plot. Low angst.

A hunky park ranger, a lonely young father and a spitfire of a tweener. What's not to love? We've got a slow burn, some intense peril, explosive sex after pent-up feelings are expressed and a touch of relationship angst. Win!
And, for the record, this epilogue goes down in the Epilogue Hall of Fame™. It was brilliant and deserves the Andy Dwyer roses of joy.
If the blurb doesn't interest you, I highly recommend you pick up The Road to the Sun anyway for the epilogue alone. Fantastic, warm/fuzzy ending!

There were many things I liked about this and some things that kinda rubbed me a bit off but overall I enjoyed this romantic suspense.
Like the blurb says, Jason is a single dad on vacation in Montana for his nature loving daughter, Maggie. There, they meet up with friendly charismatic ranger Ben, and sparks fly. When a killer on the run takes Maggie hostage, Jason and Ben are forced into a harrowing situation that obviously will bond them forever.
For me, I personally wasn’t quite as prepared for Jason’s sudden, seemingly out of nowhere revelation about his sexuality and it threw me off. However, awaken it does, as Jason’s charmed by the trustworthy Ben who shows him and Maggie around the national park. Once the life and death terrifying situation is resolved, Jason and Ben ‘s literal coming together was way too lightening quick for my tastes despite my like in all things new to MM smex. The potential for further exploring that at a greatly different pace was missed imo.
Note that these are personal grievances. Despite the above, I did enjoy the story but I didn’t love it, and by the looks of things from the majority of readers, I’m definitely the odd man out. Regardless, I still liked how the romance unfolded. The suspense had me on edge, and I loved Ben who’s a total dreamboat. Both he and Jason have had it rough regarding their pasts, and both are in a deep rut of stagnation, indecision, and fear. Thankfully, they realize their stupidity and stubbornness and take a chance on happiness with each other, leaving me very satisfied with that sweet sweet ending!

Wow, I mean, I'm so blindsided by how much I did not like this. The writing was smooth and easy to read, yes, but I didn't realize this was a 'daughter is kidnapped in the wilderness' plot (because I saw age gap and stopped reading the summary) and while it could've gone well.. I didn't like it. It happens early on and thankfully resolves itself without being dragged out too much, much like the younger hero's confusion about his sexual preference, but still. Things were very insta, very intense, very OTT, and yet the connection was tepid and I was totally unmoved. I didn't like the main characters until almost right at the very end, I didn't like how the romance went, I didn't like the kid, I just.. didn't. Like. It.
It had a sweet ending, and with a writing style that I liked, which will have me reading the author again (and good thing, too, as that pirate one is already on my kindle because I always get ahead of myself), but this was overwhelmingly not a win for me. My lack of hate is keeping this from being a one star but it's a close call.

While I really liked this, I didn't love it.
I was mostly missing some more relationship development since there was almost none. I felt like Ben and Jason didn't have enough page time together for me to fully believe in their romance.
I still liked the premise of the story and I loved the bonding during a traumatic experience.
I could have done without the dinner drama at the parent's house. It didn't really add anything to the story for me. I kept thinking that if the whole side plot about Jason's parents was left out, there would have been more page time for some Ben and Jason loving.
Overall this was an action packed story with a nice May-December romance. Too bad it was so filled with action/story/plot that the romance took a bit of a backseat.

I loved this one. I haven't read that many romantic suspense books in mm, but this one was a great blend of romance and plot. The romance between Ben and Jason had a nice slowish build and nice UST that kept me reading. There was angst, but the book is not overwhelmingly dark. Hit every sweet spot for me. Recommended.

**3.5 stars** What a sweet romance full of nice feelings !!
Jason raises his 8-year-old girl, Maggie, on his own and decides to take her camping in Montana. There, he meets a sexy ranger, Ben, and for the first time, he experiences some attraction towards somebody. But these sweet vacations are brutally interrupted when a murderer in escape abducts Maggie.
It took me some times to get invested in this story, but the last third of the book ? That was brilliant and I may have shed some tears during the epilogue.
But I’m greedy and I wish I could have had more time between Ben and Jason.

Well hell!!! Keira Andrews is one of my favorite authors. I've loved so many of her books. Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me.

Oh my god, my head is spinning. I can't believe I actually finished this story. Credit goes to Keira's writing. It truly is excellent. Even though this particular story didn't work for me, I've read many of her other books and loved them. I also see that all of my GR friends enjoyed this one. So, it's easy to say that "it's me" not the book, and certainly not the author who has proven herself time and time again.

I used to love Keira Andrews' books -- but I guess my reading preference and taste has changed over the years. So I think it's time for me to part with Keira Andrews. Her writing just doesn't click with me anymore.
First of all, the story wasn't really what I expected. I thought the whole thing with would be kept until near the end, so it would give appropriate time for Jason and Ben to connect. Well, that I didn't get. So yes, there was action with the and later on they were separated because ... but that meant, personally, I thought there wasn't enough time for the relationship to be developed.
I also didn't like the whole repetitive appreciation towards one's physique from both men. To me physical attraction can only last so far... and too much will bore me to death. That is another problem with this book, because I thought Andrews' writing was very formulaic. From the attraction to the physical intercourse. It wasn't inspiring. Oh and I totally despise the whole

I wanted to love this story so bad but sadly it didn't do it for me.
The story was too insta love for my liking, I understand some strong feelings specially given the circumstances Jason and Ben were in but still, Ben changed his whole life after less than a week with Jason.
My other issue is Maggie's character, she didn't read as an 8 year old, if you take away the little mentions of pouts she totally reads as much older child so that threw me off a bit.
BUT I have to admit that the epilogue was beautiful, I would have liked to see a bit more relationship development but still, I was really happy with the epilogue.

This book was wonderful. Pure Keira Andrews, which means it felt like a breath of fresh air. Which is weird to say when one of the main MC's daughter is kidnapped, but it was, because of the romance between Jason and Ben.
They had a rough patch in the middle/near the end, but they figure it out. I'm glad they didn't completely just dive into a relationship after knowing each other one week and after what Jason and Maggie went through, what they all went through. It felt natural that Jason needed time to figure everything out, even if it wasn't completely right to run away from Ben at the same time.
But Jason wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind after almost losing his daughter - and actually believing her dead for a time - to be quite ready for a relationship with Ben. And there was something else Jason didn't know he needed, which was to make up with his family, especially his parents who tried to take Maggie from him and cut him out of their lives. Although Jason wasn't completely innocent either in that whole scenario.
But once Jason and Ben do get together, Jason is in a much better place, and he agrees to get help - because he went through an ordeal as well - and Maggie herself is getting help.
I loved Maggie, Jason's daughter. She was adorable, but she wasn't the "perfect little angel" kid character either. I mean, she was awesome, but she had her tantrums and annoying "kid moments" that made her a little more real than we sometimes see in romance stories where one character has a kid before they meet their love interest and they become a family.
The added storyline of this killer on the run who takes Maggie would have felt unnecessary if it hadn't been handled right, but this was a factor in getting all the characters, but of course especially the two MC's, to experience character growth.
I mean, without it, would Ben and Jason even gotten together in that week Jason and Maggie where on vacation? Maybe. But with how freaked out Jason got after their first time together, maybe not. I feel like they would have eventually kissed or even had sex, maybe, but they wouldn't have bonded enough, I think, for them to want to see each other even after Jason and Maggie left. These two were already very attracted to each other, but what happens to Maggie and the subsequent trauma they both shared (and Maggie) probably pushed them together sooner than they would have without it. Not that its a great thing that happened, but they were only there a little over a week, so something had to happen to bring these two closer together quicker than without an event like that.
I was so happy with how this turned out, and how this ended. Yes, I had seen that the epilogue is wonderful and it really is. It's so freakin' adorable and fluffy and it will melt your heart.

These two were already very attracted to each other, but what happens to Maggie and the subsequent trauma they both shared (and Maggie) probably pushed them together sooner than they would have without it. Not that its a great thing that happened, but they were only there a little over a week, so something had to happen to bring these two closer together quicker than without an event like that.
I was so happy with how this turned out, and how this ended. Yes, I had seen that the epilogue is wonderful and it really is. It's so freakin' adorable and fluffy and it will melt your heart.
Loved this book, should definitely be given a shot :D

'Road to the Sun' tries to be many things simultaneously: An age gap romance, a thriller, a psychological story about PTSD and a rainbow family book.
To me, it all felt a bit too much. The PTSD was treated rather halfheartedly ('oh, and she saw a therapist for many years...') and the romance felt pretty rushed (like 'I buy a plane ticket and travel across the country for him, although I barely know him for more than a few days').
The grandparents were a whole new level of awkwardness too.
Throw in a guy who loves cum play (which means -> don't read this right before breakfast) and you'll have a true m/m adventure, in every sense of the word ;-)

Road to the Sun by Keira Andrews is the story of Jason a 25-year-old single father, his eight-year-old daughter Maggie, and Ben a 41-year-old ranger. I was nervous about this book because the suspense is not my usual schtick, but I can't resist a KA book- she consistently delivers. RttS was no different.
In this book, Maggie was kidnapped while they're out hiking and a frantic search to find her ensues. Typically suspense plots bore me. I often find more telling than showing but that's far from the case here. I found myself invested and felt their fear, desperation, and anguish. Maybe because I'm a parent of two girls? I don't know, but I couldn't flip through the pages fast enough to find Maggie with them. The mystery aspect was superbly done, in my opinion.
As for the romance- Keira Andrews knocked it out like always. We have age-gap and a delicious slow burn. It does take some time for Ben and Jason to get together but:
1. It makes complete sense with the story.
and
2. The wait is welllll worth it! ;)
It was a bit on the insta-lovish side, but I didn't mind at all. And the epilogue- one of the best I've read.
Highly recommend it.

Enjoyable, dual POV, May/December romance with some suspense and a sweet HEA.

Some parts I love and some parts not so much. Loved the Montana location (used go to Whitefish and glacier national park most summers as a kid) didn’t love the pacing.
The pacing of the relationship between Ben and Jason was weird.. yes the traumatic experience brought them together but idk it didn’t feel as organic as other books I’ve read from this author has been.
Maggie was great especially for an 8 year old kid she was portrayed well and wasn’t annoying (thank god haha)
The kidnapping was good… haha that doesn’t sound like a good statement, but I thought for how it was put together it was well done.
I wish I knew how many years in the future the epilogue was.. I am guessing around 2-3 but not clear haha
Overall good read but I wanted something more.
Ps the audio is on Scribd and Greg Boudreaux is the narrator soo that was a win!

His 20 yr. relationship ended and he's lost hope of ever having his own family. Jason and Maggie are excited to camp, hike, and have fun while learning. They meet Ben who leads the hiking, and have a great time. They go rafting and onto different trails. Maggie loves all of it, and Jason is mostly afraid of his own shadow. As their vacation progresses, Jason is sorting out his feelings for Ben. He's never dated or had sex since the one time with his best friend, that gave him Maggie. Jason is devoted to his daughter, and thrives on being a good dad, because everyone in his past didn't think he could do it. Ben drives them to the "Road to the Sun" lookout, and it's breathtaking. Jason, an artist also does lots of sketches of their time. Ben flirts with Jason, and he's discovering his new found emotions and is very attracted to Ben.
They hike to a different less traveled trail in the rain, where Maggie runs ahead and screams. Jason and Ben catch up to find the fugitive with a gun to her head. Yikes !
This story at first is fun, and lovely, and later is filled with fear and action. During the chase and search the men become closer. They depend on each other, and Jason's deep feelings of failure overwhelm him. The ordeal is intense, but Maggie is a super smart girl. Once the Feds join the search much more is happening. We see raw emotion, deep thoughts, and unending faith.
I was disappointed in the sex scene, as some others were. With his daughter in the hospital, and no lead up, build up, like a BJ, or frotting, they have sex and Jason was okay with that, then, immaturely ran away from Ben. It seemed too fast for me. I did love the age difference.
We do get a HEA, and a marvelous epilogue. So even if I wasn't happy with Jason's first time, this story captures your heart, and be prepared to shed a few tears, and smile with joy !

Keira Andrews’ easy storytelling style is on full display here. Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop and I devoured this story in two sittings.
At 25, Jason’s life revolves around raising his 8 year old daughter Maggie. He walked away from a privileged life and is working in a factory with no life outside of work and his daughter. He is determined to be the best father he can be and give his child the world which, at the moment, is a camping trip to Montana.
Ben loves his job as a Park Ranger. At 41 he is two years out of being dumped by his lover of twenty years, who also happens to be his boss so Ben can’t help seeing how the man is now living out all the dreams Ben spent two decades imagining would be theirs. Ben is stuck in a rut he can’t seem to pull himself out of until he meets Jason and Maggie Kellerman.
Jason is the first person Ben has had an attraction to since things ended with Brad and he can’t help flirting with the young father. Jason is surprised at his obvious attraction to Ben and it sheds new light on all the times he brushed off “appreciating” other men. He’s never had the time for anyone other than his daughter, always thought he wasn’t allowed to have anything, but Ben is making him want friendship and maybe more.
Their attraction simmers for a few days, but things flare quickly when Maggie is abducted by a killer and they both risk their lives to find her. When the immediate danger ends and they give in to their overwhelming emotions and their attraction to each other, things seem to be moving in just the right direction until Jason panics. Surviving the ordeal is just the start and Ben is only one of the surprises Jason needs to process as his orderly life has spiraled out of control in the span of one week. The fallout results in an emotional explosion and Jason runs, but neither man can stop thinking of the other.
The story starts off with an intense scene and then runs the gamut of sweetness, angst, suspense and drama. With the abduction dealt with in the first part of the book, there is plenty of time to deal with the repercussions. The first part of the book also sets up the easy relationship between Ben and Jason, who is particularly thrown by it all having really never had a relationship with anyone. Jason’s plight as a parent was totally relatable. His devotion to Maggie at the expense of any semblance of a life for himself was understandable and admirable, but he did have a heavy chip on his shoulder that caused him to become isolated and defensive when it comes to allowing anyone to help, even though help and companionship is what he so desperately needs.
Although there is a lot of focus on Jason, Ben is also stuck, not able to move forward and not completely dealing with his past. Ben is sweet and caring and just an all-around good guy. Seeing him have to make nice with his ex and the man he cheated with was gutwrenching. It made the impact Jason had on him even that much sweeter. It also turns out that Ben likes it dirty in bed and though there aren’t many sex scenes in the story, the few we get are fun and hot.
Children in books are always hit or miss for me, but Maggie was delightful. She did come off older than her 8 years, but it’s also made clear that she is highly intelligent and enthusiastic, so I was able to let that pass. She doesn’t hesitate to make her opinions known and I even enjoyed the few times we got her POV.
Most of the story is spent with just the two men and Maggie, but there are some good secondary characters; the kind you love to hate but then surprise you. After all, near death experiences don’t just affect those immediately involved.
The story has a bit of everything. There is plenty of angst and drama, but more than enough lighter moments to keep the story from getting dragged down.
