I am Heather McCollum, writer of 16th and 17th century Scottish romance full of adventure and intrigue, sprinkled with humor, history, and spice. Brawny Highlanders and feisty heroines are my favorite characters!

I am also a mom of three kids, dog-mom of one rescued geriatric golden retriever, and wife of one 6 foot 4 inch Highlander. When I’m not trying to help my kids make it through the day, baking things I see on The Great British Baking Show, or writing, I’m usually educating women on ovarian cancer (I’m a nine-year survivor).

I love kilted heroes, chai lattes, and eating buttered air-popped popcorn for dinner on Friday nights (my dog loves this one too).

I read these for the narrator and mediocre plot, helps me sleep

These don’t require much brain power or investment. Basically, a big strong Scotsman, teeny tiny blond woman with lots of big strong brothers for future books and a small contrived reason they can’t be together easily overcome in the end. Steamy sex and Scottish accents, nicely read by Tim Campbell. I’m a fan of this narrator but not really this author.
This is a great book if you don’t have the ability or desire to concentrate too much on plot 😆. To be fair, the author wants us to think there are several intrigues in this but mostly she just focuses on bulging biceps and the mutual horniness and pining of the MCs. Because my reading slump and brain fog are kicking my butt, I thank this book for being so very mediocre. 🙏🏻

I enjoyed it, but not enough to give it a higher rating. It had all the right elements to make a strong historical romance and it did pull it off, but I did take frequent breaks during reading which tells me that it didn't manage to capture my attention and make me feel much or care for the characters.

That being said, I would recommend it. It was a well written book, but it just wasn't great for me.
I will probably try the next book in the series when it's released. Adam's brothers seemed nice and Beck had all the personality.

My Review

This one definitely hit the spot for me and I liked it a lot.
I’m partial to some Scottish historical romance and though this was a new author for me I clicked with this straight away.
The easy writing style drew me in investing me in the unfolding narrative and though this was not an overly complicated or angsty story it struck just the right balance for me.

The story is set in 1545 in highland Scotland, The decimated clan of Macquarie is trying to rebuild and repopulate there abandoned isle.
Under a curse, this century past all that is left of this once proud clan is Chief and oldest brother Adam and his five younger brothers and also a superstitious family friend Rabbie, What they need now are wives.

Enter Lark Montgomerie she is attending the Beltane festival with her family where her father has plans to marry her off as he wants her out of his house.
When Lark and Adam meet she sees In him her salvation and a chance to travel away from her past.
Thinking him the better option than her other two unwanted suitors Lark chooses him instead.

So this was a really great read it was very well written had enough intrigue and suspense to keep things interesting but not too much to turn me away.
I liked both Lark and Adam and also all the brothers.
I believe each sibling is going to get there own individual story and based on my experience with this I would definitely read them.

I liked the simplistic approach here how our newlyweds fell for each other gradually both learning trust and gaining their happiness gradually and together.

This had a bit of everything there were secrets some mystery, drama and also danger added to the mix.
This wasn’t majorly explicit but it certainly had enough sexy-times to satisfy me and the bond itself felt real and authentic and most importantly genuine.
I believed in there growing connection and eventual feelings and was rooting for them 110%.
I especially liked the fact that the sex here didn’t feel prosy or contrived, It’s a mega turn-off for me and one of my top pet-hates in historical fiction.

Overall this was a good one and I enjoyed myself a lot.
I would recommend this if your partial to Scottish historical romance like me and this is definitely one of the better ones around.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of A Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal.

3 stars.

➕ What I liked :

Scottish hero/highlander.

Scottish setting.

OK romantic build-up.

OK chemistry.

Some sweet moments.

➖ What I disliked:

Anachronistic.
(The book/story is set in the mid-16th century….. but the story/characters have more of a 18th century vibe to it.)

The romance/romantic build-up and chemistry was OK...but needed a little more depth and focus on the actual romance/romantic build-up.

Dragged in some parts and was a little jumbled.

The plot-holes.
(Some things were not explained well or/and explained enough)

Sensitive and serious issues were more or less glossed over.
(Sexual assault/Sexual abuse etc.)

A little too much miscommunication/misunderstanding.

The heroine was somewhat annoying in some parts of the story.
(A little too naive among other things)

The ending is kind of abrupt and leaves a little too many unanswered questions… even if the book/story is part of a series.

There needed to be more depth to the main characters and more character development.

Series: The Brothers of Wolf Isle #1
Publication Date: 10/19/20
Number of Pages: 199

What do you get when you mix pirates, betrayal, deep secrets, and a curse together with family loyalty and love? The answer, of course, is an outstanding story. I loved getting to meet Adam Macquarie and Lark Montgomerie along with all of the brothers who will have their stories in the upcoming books – Beckett (Beck), Eagan, Callum, and his twin, Drostan.

The Macquarie’s, who live on Ulva (Wolf) Island, were cursed over a hundred years ago. Wilyam Macquarie had courted – and impregnated – a young woman from the island, and then he married another in order to form a better political alliance. The young woman then hanged herself, and her distraught mother put a curse on the Macquarie’s. Their island is now uninhabited and there are only five Macquarie’s left in the world. To break the curse, the Macquaries must learn what love is – and they must stop producing bastards. The five remaining Macquaries are determined to save their clan, break the curse, and reclaim their island. That determination has brought Adam (the clan chief) and his brother Beck to the Beltane festival to find wives for themselves.

Yes, Adam wants to save his clan and break the curse, but his real reason behind wanting to do that is because he wants a home. A real home. He and his brothers have had a house while living with the Maclean clan on the Isle of Mull, but it isn’t a real home. Not a place filled with love and belonging. He wants that for himself and his brothers – and in order to get it, they have to break the curse.

Lark Montgomerie has been told that she MUST choose a husband at this festival. Her family will not be taking her back home with them. She can choose – sort of – but she has no dowry and Roylin Montgomerie will sell her to the highest bidder if she doesn’t choose. When two vile creatures are the only two in contention for her hand, she begs a handsome Highlander she’s only just met to wed her. Amazingly, he agrees and they are wed on the spot.

Both Lark and Adam are keeping secrets – secrets that can break them apart. Not a very auspicious beginning for a lifelong relationship. During their perilous journey back to Wolf Island, Adam learns just how resourceful, brave, and skilled Lark really is – and admiration begins to grow. What will happen when they get to Wolf Island and all of Adam's secrets are revealed? Will she just leave him? Then, what will happen when Lark’s deepest, darkest secrets are revealed?

There are those who do not wish to see the Macquarie clan reclaim their island nor break the curse. Dark forces gather about them and only the strong bond between Adam and Lark, his brothers, and the Maclean’s can save the day. Between kidnappings, curses, pirates, and betrayals, their road to their HEA won’t be an easy one.

I absolutely loved both Adam and Lark. They are such good people – dedicated, strong, caring – and they definitely deserve their HEA. I was left wondering about Lark’s sisters though. It seems they were left in what could be a very unhappy situation, so I wonder if we’ll just never hear from them again, if they will eventually find their way to Wolf Island, or if maybe they’ll also get their own stories. I can hardly wait for future books to find out. Up next is Beck’s story and it sounds like a great one as well.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chief Adam Macquarie is out to fulfill a promise to his late father but to do so he needs a wife. He and his brothers attend a Beltane festival where, to his surprise, a lass begs Adam to marry her. Though he hates dishonesty, Adam agrees to the marriage without telling his new bride about the nearly unpopulated, supposedly cursed, state of his home. He must marry and begin reestablishing his people and he knows a new wife won’t be happy to learn the truth.

Lark Montgomerie is delighted to escape her father’s drunkenness and his determination to marry her off to anyone at all. Her new husband seems kind and honorable and her situation can’t possibly get worse than it currently is. She’s excited to begin a new life on a remote Scottish island and determined to make the best of things, but her resolve falters a bit when she arrives at her new home to find a long list of issues to contend with.

I just love a good Highlander romance and this series is off to a lovely start. Adam was just what I like in a hero: the classic strong, silent type, but also very protective and loyal, plus he wound up being very sweet with Lark. I loved that even though these two both kept secrets from each other, they still kept their faith in each other, communicated, and ultimately worked together to build trust and solve the problems plaguing the clan. The growth and acceptance were great to read and I loved how Adam defended Lark even to his own family. My only complaint was the rather abrupt ending to the last action scene, but this also lessened my anxiety so I’m fine with it. I enjoyed the sibling relationships here and the obvious respect all the brothers had for Adam. I think this story laid an excellent foundation for those to come and I’m looking forward to the other brothers’ stories.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked the book. Both of the characters were likable. I liked the idea of building a clan from the scratch. Will continue the series. Off to a good start then.

"I do not know what type of husbands ye have met before, and I have never been one, but pawing and rucking are not something I would unless ye ask, wife or not."

This was such a romantic book. Well, not really like deeply romantic but the two main character's love are just so sweet.
This first half of the book was honestly so boring.
It only get like fast and enjoyable in the second half.

I was more interested in knowing more about the curse and the main character's secrets rather than the love story.
The climatic part of the book felt like it keep turning circles and circles waiting for it to be solve.
I wish there was more humour to it though.
But I love the ending.
It was beautiful!

I wonder which brother's stories we are getting to next!

My missions has always been to find a home. What I did not know was that home is not a place. Home is a feeling, Lark. Home is.. ye."

This book started with really great potential: saving a woman who is being sold off into marriage in the town square by marrying her, secrets, a mysterious island! I was pretty excited about what was coming to me when these guys finally got to the island.

But the island was really confusing and I was not excited about reading a book about a curse. Idk. I was expecting it to be more rom commy vs super serious with witches and people dying and all that. It’s hard to feel Lark and Adam falling in love with all this extra drama surrounding them.

I’ve adored every journey to the Highlands author Heather McCollum has taken me on and The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal is no exception. Secrets and curses have no chance against two such endearing protagonists as Lark and Adam.

Lark Montgomerie is in a desperate situation at the beginning of the story. Her drunken, abusive father is determined to sell her into marriage and she has to be wed by sundown. Rather than the fools her father has promised her to, Lark takes a chance and marries handsome stranger Adam Macquarie. Adam has his own reasons for needing a bride and Lark’s spirit, beauty, and plain-speaking appeal to him right from the start. The two are strangers, but it’s clear they’re well matched from the start. I loved the sparks between them and the simmering sexual tension.

Lark and Adam make a great match from the start. They’re both hardworking, focused, and have good hearts, but each has secrets they need to reveal in order for love to be able to grow between them. My heart broke for Lark more than once, but at every turn Adam was steadfast and honorable, which I just loved. More than anything, Lark wants to build a life based on trust with her new husband. That’s easier said than done when she arrives at her home on Wolf Isle and discovers she has married into a cursed family. The Macquarie clan was cursed over a century ago and they’re close to dying out. I won’t spoil the state of Wolf Isle, but suffice it to say Lark and Adam have their work cut out for them if they want to make their clan strong again. I enjoyed learning about the curse and watching the Macquaries figure out what it would take to break it.

Hidden dangers, possible witches, and political plots weave through The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal and help make it an addictive read. I thoroughly enjoyed each twist and turn this story took. And if you’re a fan of Ms. McCollum’s, you’ll be delighted to learn that some of your favorite faces from the Highland Isles series play strong supporting roles in this tale. I couldn’t be happier to revisit the Isle of Mull and I hope to see more of it in future Brothers of Wolf Isle books. It would also be remiss of me to talk about this story and not mention Adam’s brothers. The four younger Macquaries charmed the heck out of me and once Lark arrives on Wolf Isle there are some nods to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that made me smile.

I sincerely enjoyed The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal from beginning to end. It’s romantic, action-packed, and a true delight. I cannot wait to see what Ms. McCollum has in store for the rest of the Macquarie men!

This gets a star from me for the honourable Highlander guy plus marriage of convenience. But that’s it.

The rest was all pretty meh…
▪️ the mid-16th century setting was giving more late-18th century-ish? (emphasis on the ish). There was nary a bonnet to be seen, let alone a French hood, and where all the puffed sleeves?
▪️ our heroine was Mary Sue-ing it up a bit too much for me
▪️ was that a mystery subplot?
▪️ I don’t think this couple was particularly compatible. They were too similar; both giving stern eldest sibling with a dash of withholding information
▪️ there was remarkably little on-page falling in love. I guess we were more focused on that mystery plot…
▪️ and the thing I disliked most was how the expository dialogue was… definitely expositing 🫠 We were putting important story beats in the mouths of characters a bit too ham-fistedly for me

Also didn’t help that the audiobook narrator read the FMC like the guy who plays Pippin in LOTR 🙈

Also also, I don’t know anything about Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. But other reviews mentioned this book was a retelling of that… and this is the second much-beloved book compared to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that I didn’t enjoy. So it’s probably just a me-thing.

The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal by Heather McCollum
Brothers of Wolf’s Isle #1

What if:
* You begin to read a book
* Identify with the female lead and
* Can’t put the book down?

Well…you keep reading…

Of course, 😊 Why put down a book in which you can identify with the heroine so…you keep reading…

What a great way to begin a new series by a great author!

I know there are brothers of the first Macquarie tribe in the wings waiting to find their brides…though they may need to steal them as they did in 7 brides for 7 brothers (the movie) BUT…perhaps these brothers will not need to kidnap women to further their goals?

Anyway…Adam and his brothers need wives.
He is intrigued by…a shoe
She is intrigued by…his returning of her shoe…by his brother
And thus, the story begins

I loved the story with pirates, good and bad guys, maybe-witches, and other things and believe you will, too

There is so much more to this story that…I am not willing to divulge

Did I enjoy this story Yes
Would I read more in the series? Definitelly!

Thank you to NetGalley and Engtangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I have to be in the mood for a historical romance. So when I read one that I enjoy, I end up devouring it and reading the whole series. This statement is 100% true for this book and I cannot wait to read about the other brothers love adventures.

Lark finds herself in a horrible situation. Marry one of the two uncouth males arguing for her hand or be sold to the highest bidder by her father. Lucky for her, while hiding from her suitors, Adam locates her lost shoe and directs them onto a different path.

That one encounter leads to Lark selecting, and somewhat asking, Adam as her husband. After they are wed and on their way to his Isle, Adam is vague when it comes to answering questions. Once they make landfall, Lark sees why. While navigating their new relationship as two strangers, they learn that both have secrets. Will these secrets cause harm, or will they allow the couple to grow stronger together?

It's okay.
It reminded me a bit of the old film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Book can be read as a standalone but there is a story thread running through the series, which I assume will be the other four brothers finding their love interest to break the curse that is on the Isle.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Both have secrets which are revealed slowly.
HEA.

Will they find in themselves to let go of the past to trust one another ...

My second read by the author, and an other one with a large group of siblings, all very noisy and adding fun to the story.
Lark and Adam first encounter sets the pace of their relationship, they gauge one another and do not trust the other, but something sparks between them, it ignites longing for the other.
Lark is in desperate need of a knight with or without shining armor, else she would be sold to the highest bidder. Why she jumps desperately to the lest repellent option, the laird looking for a bride, well she thought he was.
Adam made an oath, but making it come to fruition is not an easy feat with four brawling brothers,a deserted island and a curse looming over their head and threatening their future.
So a wife for himself was not an immediate prospect. But he can’t leave this fiery lass to such a gruesome fate.

Now they have found their way to one another, despite their vows and chemistry, they struggle to trust the other, each keeping things to themselves until there is no coming back. But when secrets are revealed, and confidence shattered, can they rebuilt from the ashes of their star-crossed union.
Both are trapped, his pledge blinds him of the true value of his marriage when her shame keeps her from believing in her own worthiness.
They are two fools who will need more than a good shake to understand where home is.

He can break a bed but can he break a curse?! I loved the vibes of this book so much! From eerie island, derelict castle, possibly haunted ghost town of a village, and the looming omnipresent dark cloud of a love curse, to the warm close kinship of the brothers and the “I’m definitely not in love with you” while falling for your marriage of convenience spouse. I don’t know what it is about secrets in a romance but I tend to eat them up and this was no exception! I also wasn’t expecting that much of a heart squeeze at the end?? It was everything.

After a death bed promise to his father to break the curse laid on the Macquauries and rebuild their clan on their hereditary land of Wolf Island, Adam Macquarie, the eldest of the five Macquarie brothers and the chief of the Macquarie clan journeyed to the Beltane Festival at Glencoe intending to find his brother Beckett “Beck” a wife. While there he learns that Roylin Montgomerie is looking to marry off his daughter Lark, but what really captures Adam’s attention is the fact that Roylin has fathered five girls. The clan desperately needs women and marriage to a lass from a family that is predominately female would be a boon. But when he meets Lark, he is not sure he wants her to marry his brother. Too bad he isn’t looking for a wife himself.

Lark Montgomerie’s father has made it clear; she will wed tonight at the festival; she can choose from the suitors or he will choose for her. She is hiding from two of her more persistent and disgusting suitors when Adam finds her. He deflects the suitors and helps her escape them. Later he brings his brother Beck to meet her, but it is obvious that they are not well suited. He knows she will be forced to wed later and plans to help her escape, but when the time comes to save her, she announces that he is her choice for a husband. Surprised, but oddly intrigued, Adam marries her. When they leave the festival, he plans to tell her of the curse and offer to get an annulment, but the time never seems right to tell her. And for her part, Lark also has secrets that need to be shared, but she too shies away from revealing the truth.

This was a well written, fast paced, fun story with wonderful characters, secrets, curses, pirates, witches, a feisty heroine, a wonderful hero, great secondary characters, cameos from previous characters, steamyish love scenes, betrayal and lies that all come to a head and give Lark and Adam a well deserved HEA. As the first book in a new series, I highly recommend it and can’t wait for Beck and the other brother’s stories!

From the get go, danger, trouble, and big problems to solve seem to follow and bind this main couple. Fortunately for them, their steely determination to do whatever it takes to secure a new beginning helps them figure out what must be done. Even during the times when just winging it and hoping for the best was all they could really do.

Sure, Adam, the hero, accidentally on purpose didn’t fully reveal all the details regarding what Lark, the heroine, was marrying into. However, she was in such dire straits to begin with, he was certainly still her best life line.

This alpha protective, good guy, laird of his clan hero and sassy, beautiful, hard working, doesn’t back down when the going gets tough heroine were a great combination together. I stayed fully invested in their story from the beginning until the conclusion. I was surprised by a couple twists and turns that laid hidden until nearly the end, causing quite a stir and even a perilous situation. One had some disturbing trigger content.

I’m already looking forward to Beck, a younger brother, meeting his perfect match in the next book of this series. There is obviously a verra good chance more books will come featuring this entire band of brothers as they rebuild their clan. Since I enjoy this author, I hope to read them all.

Title: The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal, Series: The Brothers of Wolfe Isle (Book 1), Author: Heather McCollum, Pages: 150, pub date: 10/19/20, stand-alone but part of a series, sassy, capable, caring, hard working heroine, virgin heroine, brief flashback/reference to disturbing past sexual assault attempts, secrets others already knew, some bloody fight violence, only a few very graphic smex scenes.

I loved, loved, LOVED this story!! Any Heather McCollum books are a "must read" for me because this author never disappoints me with her stories and imagination. I love being taken away to Scotland and immersing myself in a book such as this one.

Being the first book of this brand new series, we meet all 5 brothers of Wolf Isle and I for one, am very much looking forward to reading each brother's story!! This one is Adam's story, he's the clan chief of the cursed Wolf Isle and will do everything needed to rebuild his clan and his home. He and his brothers need to marry and an unexpected opportunity opens up to him when he meets Lark at a Beltane Festival. Secrets abound and danger lurks while emotions struggle!

I adored Adam's character, as well as Lark's, each are such strong and honourable but trust is an issue they must work on. Secrets have to be told before they can completely give their hearts. I also loved the banter between the brothers....having been raised as the only girl with 4 brothers, I can relate! lol

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Lark Montgomerie has been told that she must marry at the Beltane festival & after Chief Adam Macquarie saves her from two suitors she almost begs him to marry her but both of them have secrets which threaten their relationship. Adam is the eldest of five brothers & they are desperate to revive their clan on Wolf Island but they are fighting a curse made over a hundred years ago.
This is the start of a new series, it was a very well written book with strong characters who had plenty of depth. Throw in pirates, intrigue, a curse, a family of five brawny highlanders, a feisty heroine plus secrets & misunderstandings & you have an entertaining, page turning, enthralling read. I devoured the book in two sittings. I loved both Adam & Lark who were attracted to each other from their first meeting when she was up a tree, they were perfect for each other, I loved how their relationship developed. I look forward to each of the brothers having their story & the willow tree gradually coming back to life
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The reviews that say this has a feel of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are underplaying how much this riffs off that movie (which riffs of the story of the sabine women). It's very much in line with the movie, with a few side trips, a curse and some actual sex, but still no surprises or twists that make it a really unique retelling. I did find the way Adam shows Millie err, Lark that he loves her very romantic. That said, the basic story is well written and in the reimagined setting it was a fun read. The brothers are brothers and act like it which is fun. I was a bit frustrated with the lack of curiosity and suspicion from Adam that was warranted based on many unusual things going on and people acting out and clearly trying to sabotage his efforts.

Either way, I liked the story and am curious to see how the next brother finds his bride.

This was an unexpected joy. See what I did there? This started a bit slow but the secrets and twists had me turning pages and thoroughly enjoying Lark and Adam. I'm curious to see if Lark's sisters will come to the island.

Love those highlanders

Good story about a deserted island with a curse and men in need of wives. They met at a fair and ended up getting married. Her dad was pretty much selling her off but then Adam proved to be an honorable man. Except he lied about his clan. There were no men or women or children or anything on the island but the brothers were determined to find brides and bring it back to life. I can't wait for the other stories!

An engrossing read with dynamic characters, The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal is a wonderful historical romance that follows Lark and Adam as they find love and learn the true meaning of home and family. When Lark’s father tries to marry her off to the highest bidder, Lark takes matters into her own hands and asks Adam to marry her. Desperate to get away from her drunk father, she sees a future with the strong, serious clan leader.

Adam is drawn to the beautiful Lark and is sickened by the thought of her married to another man. So when she begs him to marry her, he quickly agrees. He should have told her the truth about Wolf Isle, but how do you tell your wife about a long-time curse?

The marriage between Lark and Adam is unconventional, and both have secrets that they are afraid to reveal for fear of rejection. Adam doesn’t tell Lark the truth about Wolf Isle until they arrive there, and Lark withholds information about her parents and past abuses. They both have so much to hide, but they also have so much to gain. They just have to learn to trust each other. They are strong and independent, but both are also vulnerable. I loved watching Lark and Adam grow closer and learn more about each other. They have a lot of chemistry, and they complement each other well.

Other characters in the story are interesting as well, and I’m hoping they will be further developed in future books. We are introduced to Adam’s brothers, Lark’s sisters, and many of Adam’s friends and allies. They are dynamic and interesting characters who influence Lark and Adam’s budding relationship. Adam’s brothers are so different, and yet they are united in their loyalty to each other and their quest to bring Wolf Isle back to it’s former, pre-curse glory. I can’t wait to read each of their stories!

This is a wonderful story for readers who enjoy historical romance with great characters, some action, a bit of the supernatural, and an epic romance! Thanks so much to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

The queen of Highlander romance is back with a new series.

Both Adam Macquarie and Lark Montgomerie have marriage on their minds. Adam, to save his clan and Lark to prevent a true disaster from happening i.e, choosing one of the two fools her father has chosen for her.

The two meet at a festival and after two meetings, Lark chooses Adam over her other two suitors. Though Adam has not lied to her, he has hidden the reality of his situation. Meanwhile, Lark thinks she is walking into a small clan looking to rebuild houses and farms. Unfortunately, that is far from the actual reality.

The plot reminded me of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, but this story also includes ancient curses, dark secrets, and an unsuspecting villain lurking in plain sight making it fun, intriguing and absolutely entertaining. The budding love between Adam and Lark was sweet, though I would have liked to read a few more interactions between them. Maybe I am just asking for a much longer book cause I loved this one a lot.

Apart from the leads, it was nice to see glimpses of characters from her previous series, Highland Isles, and I loved all of Adam’s brothers and am curious to read their happily ever afters too.

I adore highlander romances and I love Heather McCollum writing them even more. She is able to get the right essence of a historical highlander romance and this book like all her other books is brilliant. The flow of the story, the character development, the mystery, and the sensual sizzling chemistry between the leads all blend well to create a sweet and sensual romance.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A clan of five brothers need to find wives to repopulate their clan on a cursed island… Ok -I’m in for that journey!!!

The eldest and clan chief, Adam Macquarie finds himself married after a surprise encounter and an even more surprising proposal from a lovely lass in need of a marriage of convenience at a Belltine festival.

Adam and Lark’s marriage of convenience doesn’t end up too convenient when Lark discovers Adam’s commissions about his cured island and then secrets from her past complicate their union further!

This was delightful read! I was drawn into the plight of the Macquarie clan from the beginning and the romance and attraction between Lark and Adam kept me turning the pages! The easy flow of the narrative was engrossing and kept my attention rapt.

This book had everything I was in to mood for; highlanders, marriage of connivence, fun plot twist and great characters, What a great start to a new series, I will definintely be on board for the next instalment of the Brothers of Wolf Island series!

The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal by Heather McCollum is scheduled to release October 19th, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing and NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Adam and Lark find each other in a kind of bizarre set of circumstances that lead Lark asking for Adam to marry her... Which was good because he was about to throw her into a sack to rescue her from being forced to marry someone else..
Adams clan has been cursed, so he and his brothers are trying to find wifes to help bring the clan back. Lark doesn't want to be forced to marry but her father isn't giving her a choice.. This had some very sweet moments that just made me smile to myself...
While it had some sweet momenst, it also had dark secrets, a curse, and some very good steamy times...
I was hooked from the beginning, and this is definitely a book I could see myself reading again and again.
I knew I made a good choice requesting this when as soon as I finished I went to see when the next one will be coming out!
I definitely want to check out this authors backlist, and Ill be buying a finished copy of this book when it comes out..

Sexy Highlanders, Action, Romance, Intrigue, what else do you need in a book? This is a page turner that I would recommend based on the author because she writes great books! This is a great start to a series and I can only imagine what the next one will bring!

Adam of Wolf Isle is not anticipating coming home with a bride! He thought he was helping his brother pick out one, but instead he gains one.

Lark is desperate to leave her father’s home, but not her siblings. She chooses Adam, but she has no clue what awaits her on this Mystery Isle!

No Spoilers here, but this is one book you need to read because the mysterious things are about to happen for this young wedded couple!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions!
