RUNNING WITH A DANGEROUS CROWD

Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He’s big, he’s strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can’t handle. Of course, that’s because his predatory instincts are no metaphor–he’s a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There’s only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.

Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse–it’s the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she’s not quite as innocent as she’d like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn’t stop stoking Sarah’s animal lust, it’s only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed…

Review posted on Got Fiction?

Set in the Night Watch world, but not a part of the series, Never Cry Wolf delivers! And how.

We met Lucas Simone way back in the Night Watch prequel Immortal Danger , and as the alpha of the L.A. pack, he is more than just a handsome face. In fact, he’s in jail being accused of murder when we first see him. A sexy and beautiful woman comes in and springs him from lock-up claiming he’d been with her all night, and couldn’t have committed the murder. While that is a great bit of luck for Lucas, he’s never met the woman.

Sarah is on the run. She’s got a bounty on her head, and she’s hoping that between saving Lucas from jail and providing some inside intel on another pack, Lucas will take her in and protect her. Lucas has a weak spot for protecting the weak. Sarah knows this and plans on milking it as long as she can. She’s under no illusions that it will be easy, in fact she’s scared out of her mind while she’s bargaining for Lucas’ protection.

Lucas doesn’t buy what Sarah’s selling, not for a second, but there’s just something about her, and he can’t seem to tell her no. He wants her, no doubt, but there’s something more. For those of you who don’t like fated mate plots, don’t worry! That’s not the case here:

”Shifters know their mates.” Not some predestined our-souls-are-meant-as-one bullshit. He didn’t buy that crap.

Even Lucas doesn’t believe it. But still…there’s something more to Sarah. And he will find out what it is. What she does tell him, Sarah tells in bits and pieces. She’s a Charmer. A Charmer usually has an animal that she can talk to-Sarah can communicate with wolves. Something that she doesn’t tell Lucas, is that she can do much more than just talk with them. (won’t spoil it!) And that murder that landed Lucas in jail? That was Sarah’s friend, a Coyote Charmer...and it was a warning to Lucas.

So much more than just rival pack politics is going on in this book. We have power-mad coyote Shifters, Alpha wolves bent on revenge, there’s some magic and voodoo, the FBI is involved in ways no one ever guessed, and we have Sarah’s ex.

Rafe is the rival Alpha wolf who has his own pack, but he wants Lucas’. Well, mostly he just wants to take Lucas down. Sarah was his girl for a short time, and once she realized that he didn’t just accept her for her “charms,” but he wanted to use her gift, Sarah tried to leave him. But Rafe wouldn’t let her go. He found out just how strong her Charms were...

This book is amazing. The alpha Lucas is one of my favorite heroes. He’s the perfect blend of harsh and aggressive Alpha male but doesn’t come off as a big fat jerk. He is protective, and possessive, and so sexy. I would LOVE just one night with that wolf! This book can stand-alone, you do not need to have read Cynthia Eden’s Night Watch series to read this one…but you’ll want to afterwards.
My favorite part of the whole book is right at the end, when Lucas is telling Sarah he can’t love. He’s never known love, and wouldn’t know how to love.

“Love.” He said the word as if her were tasting it. “You’re the first thing I think about when I open my eyes. The last damn thing at night. And when I dream…” He swallowed. “It’s of you. Sarah, is that close to love?”

In Cynthia's own words, Be afraid of the big, bad wolf...

Wow! What a wild, crazy ride of twists and turns, danger and excitement. All wrapped in one sizzling hot romance.

WMT08018

Sarah was steeped in mystery. I kept trying to figure out what her secret was, but she had more than just one so I was constantly searching. She was a multi dimensional character and I was totally consumed with her story. For a human, she was more than capable of keeping up with the bad boy wolf, Lucas.

contact voodoo priest, African voodoo specialist, contact voodoo priest

If Sarah kept me guessing, that was nothing compared to the jumble of emotions I experienced with Lucas. As the alpha wolf, with savagely rough edges and one that lived by the law of the wolf with no consideration for extenuating circumstances, he had me quite anxious a time or two. Of course that just made it all the better when we ran into one of the twists and he reacted in a way I didn’t expect.

This was written in a way that I wasn’t certain what this hero and heroine were going to do, or what exactly their past held. Watching it all unfold in the midst of one extreme situation to the next had me on the edge of my seat. I’m already in love with this world as well as the characters that have been introduced. Lots of potential for high excitement, danger, and romance.

Disclaimer: this is a signed ARC that I won on Operation Auction. I was not asked by the author to reveiw this book.
Confession: I am a Huge Cynthia Eden fan.

I loved this book. Cynthia Eden definitely knows how to write an alpha wolf shifer. From the first page you get a taste of "the big, bad LA wolf". Lucas Simone is one bad wolf. He doesn't run from any challenge, he protects his own and he doesn't wait for the attack--HE attacks first. He even has a slight defect that adds to his charm (a torn ear from a fight he had when he was sixteen years old). We got a taste of Lucas in the author's prevous books but that taste didn't even touch the surface of this alpha wolf. You don't have to wait long to meet the heroine, Sarah King, she is introduced by page 3. She seeks Lucas and his pack out for protection from an evil wolf named Rafe who has placed a 300k bounty on her head. He also has a personal vendetta against Lucas. Sarah comes with a lot of secrets which are revealed a little at a time as the story progress. This books has lots of action and introduces other sexy wolves like Dane (he is as sexy as his name). And then there is Piers who is one shift from becoming a psychotic werewolf. I hope they will get their own story. If you read the author's previous book Immortal Danger, you will be pleasantly surprised to have the characters from that book make an appearance. Their role was not all that significant to the story but it was nice to hear from them again.

If you like your alpha wolf shifter sexy, exuding power, not afraid of anything and totally bad a#@, then give this book a read. You will totally love Lucas. Thanks Cynthia for reminding me why I love wolf shifters.

Favorite alpha wolf quotes: "You want justice, then challenge me. I brought her in, and I'm keeping her in. She's pack and she's mine." " Let's see which of you gets to bleed first tonight".

Sarah King has a bounty on her head and no where to hide. She has come to LA in hopes that the werewolf alpha, known for being ruthless, lives up to his reputation of protecting the weak. Lucas Simone knows that Sarah is keeping secrets from him but he can't fight the attraction or the urge to claim her. When their enemy strikes, Sarah and Lucas will need to trust each other or suffer the deadly consciences.

Sarah has learned of a plot to kill Lucas and take over his pack by a rival alpha. She hopes revealing this information will win protection from Lucas because now that werewolf is out for her. Though Sarah wants Lucas' protection, she doesn't trust him. She has scars from the last time she trusted a wolf and she doesn't plan on making that same painful mistake again. Sarah may have been a victim of brutality but she isn't letting that keep her down. She is looking to Lucas and his pack for help but she still wants to fight the shifters coming after her. She is resilient, intelligent and determined and I admired all that about her. What I didn't care for were all the secrets she kept from Lucas. I felt as if she expected him to risk his life and those of his pack but she was hesitant on giving him all the facts. This turned me off her character a bit.

Lucas witnessed his father's murder at an early age. Since then he's taken control of the most dangerous pack in LA and has earned his brutal reputation yet he still has a soft spot for the defenseless. Not that he considers Sarah as being weak but a woman in need of help. A woman his wolf wants to claim as his mate. Lucas isn't physically the most handsome man but his intense loyalty to his people, willingness to offer protection to those in need and rough edges made him a really good and unexpected hero. The relationship between these two isn't easy, which I think a large part is due to Sarah's habit of withholding information, but its what you'd expect in a shifter relationship: hot sex, dominate alpha, an initial denial of feelings, and a deadly ordeal the couple must get through in order to be together.

Another alpha fueled by revenge is out for Lucas' head and pack as well as Sarah for running to Lucas. What Lucas thought would be a simple removal of a challenger turns into a bloody battle and a betrayal he never saw coming. This part of the story was most interesting to me but things tended to get confusing and unnecessary when demons, different shifters and other paranormal creatures were introduced into the story. With each new character there was a back story to go with them and then it had to be explained how they were connected to Lucas or his pack. They often felt randomly placed and took away from the main story.

Despite its faults, Never Cry Wolf is a good paranormal romance read. Not my favorite work from Cynthia Eden but it managed to hold my interest with a lot of bloody action and a hero who had a grittiness to him I couldn't get enough of. The story was good but it could have been more enjoyable if all the nonessential characters would've been taken out as well as the plots twists that felt put in just to have have something unexpected happen.

Never Cry Wolf is a wonderful book and I think it is my favorite (and I liked them all) of the Night Watch series so far.

This is Lucas' story, who we met in the first book (Eternal Hunter). He is the alpha of the LA wolf pack and a very dangerous man who has fought for his rightful alpha place in life. He also has a weakness for the underdog and when a small woman comes to him for protection he finds her hard to resist.

With a dead body on his doorstep Lucas finds himself on the wrong side of the law when Sarah King gives him an alibi for the murder. Since he has never met her Lucas knows that something is up with her - that she wants something in return. The murdered man was her friend John who had come to Lucas for help yet with Sarah refusing to reveal her deep secrets, Lucas does not trust her.

Sarah is a Charmer and all charmers have a special animal connection, Sarah can communicate with wolves and has a rare talent of communicating with werewolves while they are in their animal form. Her talent is so wanted that another alpha (Rafe), a previous lover, wants her back and also wants Lucas dead for a different personal reason. To achieve both tasks Rafe uses several others in his effort which include coyote shifters, demons and other wolf shifters. Lucas and his pack must fight several battles to save themselves and protect Sarah.

The chemistry between Lucas and Sarah is sizzling and every time we think Lucas and Sarah can trust each other something else about Sarah is revealed which keeps you guessing about what will happen until the end.

Wonderful!!

Okay. That was freakin amazing!!!
Really. Really. Blow-me-away-I-hate-waiting-for-the-next-one amazing.

This series is right up there with Dark Hunters, Demonica, Midnight Breeds..... really great stuff.

My top tier books have humor. Shelley Laurenston's Pack and Pride series, Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire series, KMM's Fever series and Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark. But this sits in that tier under those favorites. So it is definitely top ten.

I loved all the twists and turns. I loved that I couldn't predict what was going to happen and I kept being shocked and awed. The bond between Sarah and Lucus was the best I've read. Roarke (In Death by JD Robb) out romances Lucas. Ethan (Chicagoland Vampires) out assholes him. But I have to say, Lucas and Sarah out 'bond' them.
I kept thinking, "Okay. It's about to slow down. Get boring for a while." Never happened. Never. Don't skim. You will miss something.

And we are set up for sequels for the rest of his pack!!!!! Whoot!!!

Love you, Cynthia Eden!

Not my favorite by her. I didn't like Sarah much, she had way too many secrets, even though she came to help to Lucas. I normally enjoy pack stories but I didn't like it much. Way too much action stuffed in, it seemed like reading an older book by her with character names changed.
We saw Maya and Brody again(the vampire and dragon) and it did seem to setup two stories with other pack members.
The whole story was they don't trust each other(have their own motives), are all over each other, then comes a crisis and then again it goes and goes.

4.5 Stars!

Cynthia Eden never disappoints, weaving a gripping tale of betrayal, revenge, love and trust that will keep you turning the pages for more!

Sarah King is on the run with a large bounty on her head; her only hope is the L.A. alpha wolf, Lucas Simone. When Lucas is imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit Sarah impersonates his lover, giving him an alibi for that night and setting him free. The only thing she asks for in return is his protection. Lucas knows that Sarah isn’t telling him everything, but despite that he can’t leave her to survive on her own. There is an undeniable attraction between them that both intrigues and makes him weary, determined to find out the truth Lucas brings her into the pack after she gives up intel on a rival pack and a murderous plot. The secrets Sarah carries though could end her life and she will not give them up willingly, but when one of them is threatened and must seek the help of a voodoo priestess each must learn to trust each other if they want to escape the danger with their lives and souls intact.

Set in the world of Others from Cynthia’s Night Watch and Midnight trilogies, Never Cry Wolf makes a great standalone. Rival coyote packs, alpha wolves fighting for territory and revenge, heart breaking betrayal, demons, vampire, magic and voodoo, plus an F.B.I. investigation! Never Cry Wolf is full of action and adventure, and you can’t forget the sizzling romance that comes standard in all of Cynthia Eden's novels!

I became totally immersed in this novel right away, finishing it in record time; I never wanted it to end. The story of Lucas and Sarah was full of danger and intrigue with a combustible chemistry between the two that could not be denied. I absolutely loved Lucas. He is dark, sexy, aggressive, protective, smart, possessive and all ALPHA. He had a rough upbringing but despite all of those difficulties, or most likely because of them, he has grown stronger and is the alpha of the L.A. werewolf pack and one of the most recognizable ones as well. Every Other knows that you don’t mess with the L.A. wolves. Sara was an admirable character as well. Having a stark upbringing where she first had to hide who she was and then fighting for survival on the streets, she later joins the F.B.I. but while undercover fell for the alpha wolf Rafael. After seeing the true monster under the handsome mask and realizing that he was only using her for rare abilities, she flees for her life hoping that Lucas can protect her. She is brave, intelligent and very determined. Once she finds Lucas she knows that he is the one for her but has a hard time trusting him with all her secrets. This was one point that I didn’t care for because no matter what Lucas found out about her, he still stuck by her side, so I thought that she should have been upfront with him the whole time. But I guess that would have made the novel a lot shorter, LoL. I liked how the whole story unraveled though and Eden kept me in suspense revealing each piece of the plot masterfully. She also has the wonderful ability to create such intriguing side characters that you become invested in them as well and want more of their story right away. The ending really captured my heart, it was beautifully written and one of my favorite endings ever. An alpha wolf, not knowing what love is, asking if these feelings are it. *sigh* So romantic…
Just another smashing hit from must read paranormal romance author, Cynthia Eden!

I loved this gritty, action packed world. with so many twists and turns I wasn't sure who to trust or believe. Ms. Eden has created a unique niche in the paranormal romance world. With Shifters, Charmers, demons and more. Lucas and Sarah has a potent chemistry but everything else in their seemed hell bent on making sure they never found their happily every after. full of layers and plot twists this is a must read

The day his father was killed was the day the hero lost a large part of his humanity. In order to kill the wolf responsible and reclaim the pack as his own, the hero needed to shut himself off from mercy and other useless emotions. So, when he's charged for a murder he did not commit, it's quite humorous actually. Then he has himself a very interesting visitor. The woman before him is looking for shelter and she seems to think he's the giving kind. She does lie to the police and provides the hero with an alibi but then she decides to hang around. Turns out she needs his help and in return she's willing to offer information regarding an enemy who is now gunning for the hero. He doesn't put much stock in her other than the acknowledgment she is quite beautiful- not until they are attacked. The hero can't believe these shifters are stupid enough to even fathom the notion of fighting one such as he and the hero gladly puts them in their place. But now it seems the heroine was correct in her warnings of an enemy. The hero, against his typical behavior and the opinion of his pack, he claims her as under his protection. But the heroine has many secrets and as they begin to unravel, the hero’s faith in his little charmer is put to the test. The heroine needs the hero. Without him she will surely be dead or worse. She's quit the FBI, she's on the run from her werewolf ex-lover and the fact that she can control wolves makes her a very dangerous woman-especially to the hero and his pack. But what the heroine does have is loyalty and when she's offered protection from the pack, she willingly and happily offers whatever aid she can give in return. She never imagined herself falling for another wolf but the hero is different. Strong, capable but with a vibrate sense of devoted leadership which inspires her to belief in the feelings she's becoming to have for him. But as their path leads them deeper and deeper into danger, she knows that the fight to come will test everything - even the boundaries between life and death.

After a long hiatus I am back. I was excited to read my first book in over 2 months but was rather disappointed with this one. It felt like I was missing something. My only idea as to why would be that I do not recall previous books of this series and perhaps characters and past occurrences are lost on me. Typically, this author is good at providing a dedicated story between two characters with the sometimes-side plot of minor characters to which future books will be written. In this book, I felt like I was supposed to know things about these characters that I did not. As such, I became a bit frustrated. I didn't think this plot was by any means special or imaginative. In fact, the whole thing played out rather haphazardly with seemingly random scenes that didn't really have a great purpose other than putting words on paper. There was chemistry between the characters but it was severely lacking. Over all the best word to describe this book was basic.... Not a great start to 2018 sadly.

There is a reason Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors and it's because there has never been a book she's written that has not been short of amazing!!

The books starts off with Lucas in jail for a murder he did not commit. Sarah comes in claiming to be Lucas' lover and that she was with him on the night of the murder. Although Lucas knows he has never seen this woman before, he is all for getting out of jail.

Sarah is a woman with a lot of secrets. She is on the run from her ex who also happens to be a werewolf. He and his coyote henchman are hunting Sarah. The man Lucas was accused of murdering was Sarah's close friend. He was going to Lucas to try and get protection for them both but the coyotes got to him first. Now Sarah is trying to get Lucas to protect her but she is still deceiving him at every turn.

Lucas is the toughest bad ass alpha wolf around. Lucas will stop at nothing to protect his pack and what he considers his. He agrees to protect Sarah but he knows she is deceiving him. Even though Lucas knows he can't trust Sarah that does not stop him from wanting her.

Never Cry Wolf is full of action and adventure. The chemistry between Lucas and Sarah is explosive. I liked how although Sarah thought she was lying and deceiving Lucas, he was always one step ahead of her and knew what was going on. I have to say that I did not like that Sarah still kept deceiving him even after their relationship developed. He kept giving her a chance and still she deceived him. That is basically the only thing I did not like about the book. I LOVED Lucas! He is the epitome of the big bad alpha. He's a kicks ass and ask questions later kind of guy and would do anything for his pack, except give up the woman he loves.

We also got to see some characters from previous Night Watch books. I am looking forward to reading the story of Lucas' brother Jordan and the wolves in Lucas' pack. I hope they all get books of their own as well.

Never Cry Wolf
4 Stars

Lucas Simone is the powerful alpha of the Los Angeles werewolf pack, but someone views him as a threat and an obstacle to be removed. Sarah King has important information for Lucas and is in desperate need of his help and protection. Nevertheless, Sarah may have bitten off more than she can chew by choosing to side with a man whose beast is very close to the surface…

Series Note: Never Cry Wolf is the final book in Cynthia Eden’s Night Watch series and takes place in a different city and with different characters than books #1-3. Nevertheless, it is a continuation of the prequel Immortal Danger, which I recommend reading as there are numerous references to prior characters and events from that story. I did not read the prequel first and felt that it would have provided a more satisfying reading experience if I had.

Despite one or two intriguing twists, the plot is quite straightforward with Sarah arriving to warn Lucas of a foe from his past with plans on usurping him as Alpha. The action scenes are exciting and romance is intense and steamy.

Lucas is a typical alpha, protective and possessive, but his disturbing past gives him an extra edge in the hero department. Sarah is an appealing although her tendency toward keeping secrets puts a damper on things and there are times when Lucas’s calm acceptance of her lies is inconsistent with his reputation for dealing harshly with threats to the pack.

The secondary characters are very compelling, especially Piers and Caleb. Unfortunately, Eden seems to have taken a break from the series so their stories are on hold at least for now.

All in all, Eden certainly knows how to write a paranormal romance and I would definitely read more in the series if she wrote them.

Sarah King desperately needs help. She needs someone to protect her from hostile shifters and the lucky guy who ends up with the job - Lucas Simone, alpha of the LA pack (we met him in Immortal Danger).

Lucas doesn't really want to get involved but something about Sarah leaves him with little choice. He is known as one of the most dangerous shifters, not only is he a wolf, the most psychotic race, but he became alpha at 16 when he managed to beat the wolf who killed his father 6 years ago. He is defined by his past - he finds it hard to trust anyone but his pack, and he has no desire to get involved with anyone.

Lucas is a terrific hero, I adored him. He's a shifter, dangerous, but can't resist his destined mate. Sarah so didn't deserve him.

Sarah is a woman with a lot of secrets. I hate that she wouldn't tell them to Lucas. Not only do they affect him, but I can't understand that she loved him , and was pretty sure he cared for her as well, but still wasn't willing to admit the truth.

So Sarah was annoying, but I couldn't give the book a lower rating because of Lucas, who was damn near perfect.

I want to read more about Lucas' pack. The way some things were left hanging I do expect to see a sequel to the book.

Rating:

4.5 stars.

Sarah King has more at stake than just someone trying to kill her. She knew things. She can do things no other can do. She can be more than just what she appears to be. Lucas Simone is the one man/beast that can keep her alive. She needs to do more than just create a bond with him. She needs to acquire his trust.

Lucas was something special to watch in action and out of action. The pack he ran was an interesting set of individuals. There were a few directions this series could go from this read. I'm just not sure I am read for the direction diversion.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this one, folks. Despite the initial intriguing set-up and action packed drama, some things bothered me enough (like an itchy sweater you have no choice in wearing if you want to stay warm) that I didn’t absolutely love it like I really thought I would.

I’ve been dying to get another up close and personal look of Lucas Simone, the hero, after meeting him in book 2, I’ll Be Slaying You. His top notch hero manliness and unrequited feelings for the heroine in that book had me hyped up and over the moon thrilled to see him get his own HEA. However, at times in this story line, this alpha top dog werewolf shifter hero looked like a fool who could easily be duped, when we all know that does not fit his image at all. He came across here kind of like the Hulk when he’s in “Smash!” mode, too. Yeah, no reasoning with him when the green of jealousy and anger takes over. In the book I just mentioned, he was more like “Tack” in Kristen Ashley’s Motorcycle Man, the head leader of that MC romantic read.

I liked Sarah King, the heroine, on several levels, but it irritated me she lied by omission on a couple of really important things instead of coming clean to Lucas. She should have put all her cards on the table upfront. I think it would have helped, not hindered the plot if she had done that. It made this strong, sassy character weaker in my eyes. It takes strength and courage to fess up, folks. For a fighter, it made her appear to be a coward.

Anticipation of all the pieces being put together was obviously the intent here. I get that. However, I started to feel things were being slapped into place instead. On top of that, the story line became overly crowded with characters that seemed to crawl out of the woodwork. Instead of wrapping things up, more and more content seemed to be continuously dished out and soon spiraled out of control, which detracted from the original premise of the book. With all the talk about paranormal this and that, I think the author forgot we don’t actually live in that world so a lot of it started just to run together. It became exhausting and difficult to keep reading, folks. I'm thinking this book needs a serious re-edit.

Overall, the best part was Lucas not wanting harm to befall his new leading lady love. Sarah definitely had sass in her struggle to stay one step ahead of her enemies. I wasn’t wild to find out about her former lover situation and to have it flaunted in my face. Neither did Lucas, btw. Her unexpected abilities seemed rather too coincidental, too. But, hey, whatever, again I found myself just wanting all of this to end.

All in all, I guess I simply set my hopes too high for this one, my fellow romance werewolf shifter book loving friends.

Title: Never Cry Wolf, Series: Night Watch (Book 4), Author: Cynthia Eden, Pages: 310, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha hero, feisty/damsel in distress heroine who lies by omission, lots of very graphic shifter violence/fight scenes, very smexy scenes, too many characters/twists and turns thrown in, writing became exhausting to follow.

Of course, that's because his predatory instincts are no metaphor--he's a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There's only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.

Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse--it's the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she's not quite as innocent as she'd like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn't stop stoking Sarah's animal lust, it's only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed...

My Thoughts and Review....

Lucas Simone is big, he's strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can't handle. Of course, that's because he's a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf. There's only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent. Sarah comes to the Alpha wolf Lucas for help. She's a charmer who can talk to wolves. She's on the run from her ex-boyfriend, a wolf shifter named Rafe who hurt her during rough sex.Lucas is in trouble and Sarah comes to his aid when he is arrested giving him an alibi pretending to be his girl.Lucas plays along with her game but there is a price she want him to protect her from Rafe and who ever is trying to kill her.She is just not ordinary girl she come with a very complicated past. Her one secret is she charmer and can talk to wolves and get into there minds. This makes Lucas Alpha pack nervous as hell. The attraction between Sarah and Lucas is somewhat fierce from the get go.He can't keep his hands of her and is falling head over hell and resisting it all the way. This story takes you on one hell of a rider with all the twist and turns and goings on.Lucas learning there is a trade among his pack almost destroys him. And you will see the amount of pain and pleasure on with go through to save the one they love even bargain with the devil. An the sexual scenes in this book are super hot!!!!!This book is a keeper and I am loving this series so far.I have to say that I haven't read them in any special order and I have not gotten lost they all just blend together not like other series if you don't read in sequence it is very confusing.Cynthia has a new fan to follow her on her journey of writing.A Recommend to all a mix of erotica and paranormal all wrapped up in one book!

This story had so many secrets revealed, and twists and turns, where to begin??

Sarah King is seeking the protection of the LA pack Alpha, Lucas Simone and his pack. Bringing with her, a bounty on her head, and a lot of secrets and half truths. Sarah is running from Rafael Santiago, an alpha from a different pack. Sarah has a bit of history with Rafael, one that ended on a bad note, you could say. And Rafe has the misconception that Sarah is his mate, but he is the one who placed the bounty on her head, and Rafe has more of an agenda that just seeking out Sarah, he’s also seeking his own vengeance against Lucas. And Sarah running to Lucas plays right into his scheme. Rafe has lots of players in his quest for revenge on Lucas, some even in unsuspecting places.

Sarah is a “Charmer”, someone who is able to communicate telepathically with animals. Each Charmer has one type of animal that they are able to communicate with, but there is something a bit more special about Sarah’s ability. Sarah has known from a very young age that she was different, and never truly feeling like she belonged, and this is the one thing she wants most. Sarah turns out to be quite the fighter, and willing to give everything for what she wants.

Lucas…. *sigh*, Where do I begin with this sexy beast of a man??? He’s definitely Alpha, he’s dominating, possessive, protective, loyal, honorable, and HAWT!! He’s had his share of bad hands dealt to him, Starting with the murder of his father when he was 10yrs old. His mother took off way before then, and he’s never really had anyone to care about him, except for his brother, that he only found out about when he was 16yrs old.

Lucas and Sarah are attracted to each other instantly, but it’s their journey, and secrets revealed, the building of trust, and willing to give everything, and give up everything for each other that makes their story so awesome. *sob*

Every character in this book had a purpose. From the wolf packs, to the coyotes, and the humans, a vampire, a dragon, a fire wielding demon, and a voodoo priestess, they all had a role, and many of them had secrets revealed, and betrayal in their part. I had a lot of questions while reading this, but by the end, all was revealed. The plotting was tight , and I love how Eden has already set the stage for future books, everything was woven together nicely throughout the story. And Cynthia Eden can write a smexy scene to make your toes curl!! I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Sarah King is well aware that Lucas Simone, pack leader for the L.A. wolves. has a weakness for victims. So when she flees the abusive alpha Raphael Santiago, she heads straight to the L.A. alpha’s front door, or in this case the front of his jail cell. After springing the alpha from his cell, Sarah counts on his weakness to keep her safe from the monster coming for her. Lucas puts trust in pack only, but although he smells deception on the lovely Sarah, he also sees her scars and believes she is afraid for her life. With a massive Shifter war brewing, and Sarah only giving Lucas part of the story, the L.A. pack is in serious jeopardy. Only with the help of some former enemies can Lucas have any chance of surviving his kindness to Sarah.

This was may first trip into Cynthia Edens' world of shifters, and I'm extremely sorry about that. This book was dark and delicious. These were not your cuddly, cute weres, they played for keeps and were hard core to the bone. With death and betrayal as an accepted part of their life, there's not a lot of lightheartedness going on. In this world it truly is survival of the fittest.

This is a dark book with damaged and guarded characters that had me in tears more than once. The emotion in this book was just overpowering at times. None of these characters chose to be cruel or distrusting (at least among the good guys) but life had just beaten and worn them down. It was build walls and defenses or die.....emotionally and physically. How could the reader help but love these people? Sarah knows what she's risking, but Lucas , even though his instincts are screaming to not trust her, still has that kernel of needing to save people, like someone should have saved him. *sigh* And I keep saying people, but these are shifters and they do have an animal at their core. They mate, they fight and do both with a ferocity that will break the reader out in a sweat and reaching for a glass of ice water. Ms. Eden's book was graphic, stark yet still filled with a fragile hope for a future free from violence and injustice.

The trust of the pack should be absolute, if the pack begins to question itself and it's bonds, chaos ensues. I won't give spoilers, but there are a couple of instances where pack loyalty and trust are major issues. Thank goodness there was enough snark and bravado from Sarah and the others to break up some of the darkness. This was just an excellent read and I most definitely want to be part of this world again.

Werewolf alpha Lucas is bad boy to the core, except for a protective streak that make him a sucker for a damsel in distress - especially sexy as heck ones like Sara. Sara knows that Lucas is the only one she can trust to keep her from certain death, but even as Lucas' desire for Sara runs wild, his wolfy senses are telling him that there is more to Sara than she's telling him and that trusting Sara is the last thing Lucas should do if he wants to keep his pack safe.

Overall I liked Never Cry Wolf, but there was something about the way that the story flowed that made it feel long, not boring, just long. It felt like she packed alot into this book. Maybe it was that Sara and Lucas' steamy intimacy comes pretty early on, or that Eden sets up several other potential romances as she fleshes out Lucas' inner circle of wolf righthand men - Piers, Dane, Caleb, and brother Jordan. My only minor nit is that Sara spends a fair amount of time angsting about her secrets - and the secrets just keep coming.

Even though Never Cry Wolf follows Lucas, who was introduced in Immortal Danger (and there is a short cameo by the leads from that story here) and Immortal Danger is set in Eden's Nightwatch/Midnight series' world, since Eden's time is committed to her upcoming fallen angel series, it is supposedly intended to be a standalone. But I am hoping that Eden will at least be revisting Lucas' pack in some short stories somewhere along the way because it would be disappointing if she let all of those promising leading men and their romances fall by the wayside.

There is still hope...

I did not have a lot of hope when I started this book, it was pnr after all, and we all know how that has turned out lately. But to my surprise the book was good and hooked me from the beginning. I was all what? For reels? Yup, I enjoyed a PNR book, and there was that anthology a few weeks back too. Freaky. But then this one was not a cliche ridden mess of true mates, big bad alpha who is really sweet, and hot smexy times after confessing undying love.

SO yes Lucas was a big bad alpha. But he was bad. Seriously, sure he protected peeps but he was not afraid to kill..a lot. Shifters were described as psychopaths about to happen. There was this claustrophobic feeling like they could rip her throat out at any minute. She truly was in a cage with wild animals. He was never that alpha a-hole. He was just dangerous.

And Sarah may have played damsel in distress but she was none. She was lying and had an agenda. She had her own powers.

Of course there was smexy times. He found her hot, she found him scary and hot and they did it. That did not mean they loved each other.

I also liked the explanation for mates. It's just who fits you genetically, that does not mean true love is involved. No destiny shit here.

Yes, I enjoyed the book. There was action, bad people, death and mayhem. And two people fell in lust.

From the moment Lucas and his brother were introduced in Immortal Danger (Night Watch 0.5) I wanted his story and let me tell you, Never Cry Wolf did not disappoint. Definite case of shipping.

I liked Lucas even more and the strong love for his brother is another point for his awesome character. I enjoyed the camaraderie between him and his pack members.

Sarah was harder to like than I’d expected. There was a lot of deception to her even if she did try to do things for the right reason. But I did warm up to her halfway through the book.

Once again, Cynthia Eden did an amazing job plotting a story with mysteries and surprising twists. It was a pretty good story and I wish there were at least 2 more after this one because I would have loved to know how

So many questions. Definitely need more stories to answer them.

For some reason this book just didn't seem as good as others that are set in this world. I think the reason why, for me, was Sarah. You knew she was hiding things from the start, but you didn't realize just how much until you were over half way thru. She seemed sorry for it, but I had a hard time buying it. She says that she was in love with Lucas before she meet him, it was his legend that did it for her. So if that is your feelings and your life is on the line why would you go to this man for help and lie? I just didn't get that part.

Lucas was an interesting character, made more interesting when you learned his past. I also really liked those in his pack. They all are so damaged that you want to protect them.

With the way the fallout of the book it will be interesting to see what comes for the rest of the guys.

'Never Cry Wolf’ by Cynthia Eden

True THUMBS up and a Five out of Five Flames for Heat!

You have your bad boy Alpha, his bad boy sidekicks (who more than steal your heart all on their own) and your heroine who…well, inadvertently stirred the proverbial shit pile!

Shifters, Vampires and Witches…Oh My~

Turns out much isn’t what it seems with angsty, guilt riddled Sara, except for her building desire for Lucas.

But can she trust him with her heart and her life!

Lucas Simone knows what being the loner on the outskirts feels like. So he can empathize with the little minx that turns up out of nowhere. But if nothing else, being that loner has taught him one thing.

Rarely are things ever black and white and his gut tells him Sara is hiding quite a bit.
But the question is…what and why?

Be ready to grab up this can’t put down page turner on June 28th when it’s finally released!

To be perfectly honest, I was bored. I wanted to like this as I'm a big fan of shifter stories, but not one thing about this was intriguing. The heroine lied her way through what I did read AND made stupid decisions. The hero morphs from a somewhat lusty indifference to full-on alpha possession and it didn't feel genuine. At all. I gave up about halfway in. DNF

ETA: also needed a proofreading! Pact and Pack are not interchangeable.
