“You can’t see the stars in New York,” Dante said. “So I brought the stars to you.”
“Not could, mia cara,” I said, my voice low. My reflection stared back at me, taut with exhaustion and self-loathing. I hadn’t slept properly in a week, and my appearance suffered for it. “I am desperate.”
“For ever making you feel unwanted when you’re the only person I’ve ever loved.”
“Yes. One that reminds me very much of you. Beautiful, rare, and difficult as hell to find…but worth every minute it took to get there.”
A part of me would always find my way to her. She was my North Star, the brightest jewel in my sky.
