When I stumbled into a mafia-run club seeking a job, I was looking for protection.

Little did I know I’d need protection from him.

Conor O’ Callahan was exactly the kind of danger I was trying to avoid. He was gorgeous as sin with an accent hotter than Hades, but that’s where the charm ended. He was also cynical, cold, and downright cranky.

So, you could imagine my surprise when he gave me a proposition. Marry him or lose my life.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’ve learned to do what’s necessary to survive in this world, and that includes marrying a mobster. Regardless of what he might say, it’s only temporary.

It’s not like I’m going to fall for him.

Because that would be stupid, right?

3 Stars

I am a huge fan of this series and have given four of the six books 5-star ratings, so keep that in mind when reading this review. In fact, my overly high expectations for this series might play into my less than 4/5 star rating here.

But anyway. As I was saying.

Huge fan of the series.

Books two and three especially rocked my casbah. If you want to read my reviews for those (both of which are leaps and bounds better than this review), you can check those out HERE (for book two) and HERE (for book three). I would encourage you to read those if you want to see what a more active and halfway decent reviewer I used to be...and not the lazy slug I am today.

But I digress.

This book and Conor as a character just didn't do it for me the way other characters in the series have. He just didn't feel as badass to me. I think that might have been the basis for why I just didn't love the book more overall. I mean, shit, the forced marriage/marriage of convenience shtick is usually catnip to my inner feline, so who knows what happened here.

All that said, despite not adoring this one, I still enjoyed it well enough and look forward to more from this author.

Fecking Hell!! I LOVED it!! I devoured this book in one sitting. I love these BU BadAssses so damn much!🖤

It was a fantastic way to end one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE series, but I’m greedy and want more!!

The trope, the characters, the action! It all worked for me in a big way. In typically BU fashion, Conor not only wins his lass...he stole a piece of my heart!

Here’s what I loved:
Each of my loves make an appearance. It so much fun to get a glimpse of the characters you know and love in subsequent books in a series. Reaper and Rory will forever be my loves!
Conor is such a sweetie. He embodies everything I love about and A. Zavarelli male lead. Brave, tenacious, and fearless. There are also subtle little surprises about his character that make him unique and totally lovable.
Cute kids are my jam. That’s all I gotta say about that.
As I stated above. The action, mystery, and drama all work for me in a major way. Although, this is a short one, it packs a big punch.

Highly recommended! This one goes live on December 27th in #KindleUnlimited, GRABBY HANDS!!

'CONOR' is the final story in A. Zavarelli’s ‘Boston Underworld' series. This is Conor and Ivy’s story, spoken in dual POV’s

Ivy is on the run from the Loco gang, trying to keep her head above water, barely surviving, living on the streets, sleeping behind dumpsters, eating near to nothing.
Stumbling into Crows territory she begs him for a job as one of his dancers, she’s a dead man walking, her time is coming near, Crow entrusts her to Conor with the intent that he get any information out of her that he can, he knows she is witness to something she should've seen.

When you're between a rock and a hard place, it's always wise to choose the lesser of two evils. In my case that's the Irish fucking mob.

The last thing Conor wants to do is babysit, but this is a big deal for him, add to the equation that's he's the youngest within the crew it’s time to step up. His whole life revolves around his mafia brothers. He lives amongst violence and chaos, relationships have never been a top priority for him.

What he didn’t factor though is his immediate reaction towards her whenever she’s close.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Crow asked this one thing of me. The only thing he's ever asked of me to do in confidence. It's my chance to prove myself, show my loyalty. And if I don't do it. I'm fucked. If it isn't me that kills her, somebody else will.

What he uncovers and what she tells him is a whole new game changer. Times running out though and he does something drastic that could save her or get them both killed. A man of honour, where his integrity and loyalty could come under question but it’s a risk he’s willing to take.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I read this in one sitting, devoured it, inhaled it, loved it!! Not once did I put it down. This had the perfect blend of everything, romance, drama, violence exactly what this type of genre stands for and Ashleigh delivered this like only she knows how.
Now that this series has finished I'm excited to see what the author brings us next, if this is anything to go by I know it's going to be something outstanding.

Title: ➳ ❤- Conor
Series ➳ Boston Underworld 6#
Author: ➳ A. Zavarelli
Publication: December 26, 2018

💖💖💖💖💖

ღ Ivy ♥️ Conor Story

----------- Happy Reading -----------

➳She climbed out of the dark hole after being held hostage by psychopath

➳He might be one of youngest of the Irish syndicate rookie, we have read so far in this series- but don’t let that fool you, he being trained to be “Reaper’s” apprentice

➳I am not sure if it’s good or bad that she is trying hide out in Irish mafia strip club, thinking that’s the last place the ‘Locos” will find her… it might be the last place the ‘Locos” might look, but that don’t mean she’ll be safe with him, or is sheit?

➳His boss likes to test him every so often….., The last thing he wants is to be is freakin babysitter for possible junkie after all the years he been in crew & all he been through

💋I just L💕ve it when author bring back past characters, it give you the chance to catch up with the old crew & their wife’s too

♥️️♥️Highly recommended! This is amazing addition to the series.

--------------------------------Enjoy ------------------------

I loved the romantic, suspense, loyalty, & twisted of storyline.

📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion

Why do most series peak with the second and/or third book and then get worse?

PLOT

After a fight with the Irish mafia and another gang, Ivy (h) is the only witness alive. She goes to work at Slainte and Crow tells Conor (H) to find out what she knows and if necessary to get rid of her. When Conor finds out that Ivy has a four year old son, he tells her that they have to get married, because the Irish mafia has this code that their wives are untouchable.

WAS THIS BOOK REALLY NECESSARY

A romance can be as bad as Ivy and Conor was, if there is a cute kid in the story I will automatically give one more star just for the kid. The 1.75 stars are for Archer and Archer only. The cutest kid!!!

Archer giggles. “Why don’t you have Oreo too, mama?”
He likes the idea of us together. The three of us unified in our ice cream flavors.

he is so adorable!!! I'm in loooove! <3

The rest was .... not good. I knew when I read this quote right at the beginning that this book and me weren't get along.

He probably fucks like a Viking, tossing women aside when he’s done impregnating them with sons for his clan.

uhhhh, what? I can accept the fucks like Viking part, but tossing them aside when he is done impregnating them with SONS FOR HIS CLAN? really?? that's the best analogy you can come up with? uhm. okay. alright. hmmm. let's move on.

Conor paces the length of the room, his spine rigid. “What, do ye think ye’re too good for me, is that it? Like I fecking want to marry you? A skinny ass crack addict.”
“I’m not a fucking addict!” I shout. “I’m just hungry!”

&

“But just so ye know, if the opposite is true, it’s going to be finished here and now. No wife of mine will be on drugs. I don’t care if I have to chain ye to the bed and—”
“I’m not a fucking addict,” I snap. “What is with you and that word? You toss it around more often than you breathe. Haven’t you ever heard not to judge a book by the cover?”

Conor had this weird thinking that Ivy is taking drugs, because what? She is skinny? Yo, sweetie stop projecting. How many times does she have to tell you that she is in fact NOT. AN. ADDICT.

The biggest surprise is that Conor's characters made a 180 turn. In all the previous characters he was this soft rookie new in the mafia with an easy smile and in this book he was just an asshole, dark and broody. It was so confusing. If I remember correctly, in Reaper he couldn't even really stand the sight of some of the torture methods Ronan used and puked all over the place and in this book the first day when he came into the mafia, he could cut off the fingers of the guy like he does that every day? Okay, it was the guy who murdered his little brother and I understand the adrenaline of wanting inflicting pain on that guy, but still... that was such a character change.

Then Conor reading Ivy's diary and only reading a couple of pages at the beginning when she wrote down that she hated him and then jumping to conclusions, being a complete dick to her the weeks after, the reason why Ivy wanted to leave and ran into danger. I mean if you go snooping through her diary, at least do it correctly and read until the end and not things out of context.

The only redeeming quality for Conor when he is not a fucking dumbass is that he is great with Archer. The Conor and Archer's scenes were great. I don't have any strong feelings towards Ivy, because like so many other characters in this series she doesn't have a personality, was raped by some evil people and only tries to survive somehow. I love the Ivy and Archer's scenes. That's it.

HONORABLE MENTION

Ronan & Sasha:

The man was practically a robot when I met him, but his wife Sasha humanized him in ways I never thought possible. When I see them together, there is no denying the pure love in his eyes. They would die for each other. They will fight for each other. It’s the kind of love that starts wars, and I’ve always been a little envious of that.

Aaand that's on being the best couple in the whole series. Period. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Goodbye <3

This entire series has been A+

The last book in thee Boston underworld series and another great story. This one is about Conor, the youngest guy in the Irish crime syndicate. Conor is given a job by Crow in confidence and doesn’t want to let him down. The job involves Ivy, a new girl that has been hired at the strip club.

The rumor is that Ivy was the girlfriend of a gang banger they recently murdered and she was in the house and witnessed the act. Conor’s job is to get close, find out the truth and “deal” with her if she was a witness. Conor finds her story is more complicated than originally thought and his attraction to her gets in the way as well.

The things I like about this series which also occurs in this book. Is that the men get so protective of their women. They show their love in so many ways before they even figure out they are in love. They get so hot and bothered about the girls, that you can’t help but wish you had someone that felt like that about you. They also treat the women very well.

I really liked this. After the last two books of the series I wasn't sure how I would feel about this one. But I really enjoyed it. I connected with both of the characters and enjoyed that there wasn't too much of Ivy and Conor dancing around each other. Because at the end of the day, I don't want to read about characters playing games with each other and have to wait another 100 pages until the inevitable happens. I liked Ivy's character, and I especially liked the focus the author made about her being a mother willing to do anything for her child. I liked Conor, but if anything it would have been nice to get to know more about his character other than his entrance into the mob.
One thing I liked about this book was that there wasn't just one villain or one plot. It's nice to have the authors shake things up a bit. I thought the romance between the couple was good and believable. But, it would have been nice to have a little more moments of connection in this couples book where sex or archer weren't present. Also, there needed to be more depth in the characters because Ivy is more than just a mom and Conor is more than just a guy in the Irish mob. The reason this is still a 4 star review? I really enjoyed it, It didn't have constant angst, I liked the characters, and I connected with this read. Overall, I would recommend because yes, this book has some things it needs to improve on, but it's a great read that is written in a way that gives you an escape from the world. And, isn't that why most people read? 4.25 star rating.

Another Boston Underworld book...
I can't really get enough of the Irish mobsta hunks, now can I? *smirks*

Going in...

Awww, damn, this was more on a sweet-ish side of things LOL but I still liked it.

Conor's story starts at his young age when he's found on an Boston Underworld's territory preying on his little brother's killer seeling for revenge. Crow, Ronan, Rory made him a deal in exchange for his acting revenge. But that deal ended up in re-enforcing Conor into their ranks, making him a valuable asset for the Irish mob.

Conor is efficient and is prone to act in the violent, mutilating torment of his enemies without a blink of an eye, he's that hardened and empty BUT when he spots a slim blonde shadow of a small woman Ivy sitting in their club asking for a dancer's job, he's instantaniously intrigued and whiplashed with the unknown emotion which he's fighting off.

BUT when he's tasked to "prepare" her for the job and "take care" of her later, since she's been recognized as being a part of the gang Locos, Conor is deterimined to find out all the information that she might know and give about the said gang.

But what he finds out changes the prospects and the perception he had of her...he changes his mind and decides to act on impulse and gut by providing protection for her. And the only way to secure the wide range of it under the watchful eye of his brothers is to make her his.

He offers her a marriage of convinience and protection of the Irish mob.

But soon, the lines get blurred, the feelings get in the way and the miscommunication and the lack of it only makes it worse and endangers her life, while Conor tries to make it in time to make things right and let her know the truth - that his feelings are real and that she's his no matter the circumstances.

Like I've said before, it's a bit sweeter and light as a difference to what I am used to reading from Ashleigh Zavarelli, but I still found treats for myself, in the way of the Irish *wink, wink*
And the re-visiting Crow and the rest of the mobsta hunks only brought more pleasurable moments while reading.

Conor was one of those books that you don’t even register how fast you’re devouring it because you’re enjoying the ride. The plot was interesting. Conor and Ivy hooked me from the beginning. They’ve got that insta attraction that neither is willing to admit to and the circumstances line up so that they’re placed in a precarious position with an interesting solution. The writing solid. The pace was a little fast but fitting for the page space. In other words, I would’ve preferred a longer book so the pacing could’ve been slower.

I liked the use of secondary characters to create conflict and move the story forward. It was nice to catch up with the old crew and their ladies too. All in all, a great addition to the series.

Conner By A. Zavarelli.
GENRE: Mafia Romance
NARRATION: Dual POV
BOOK DETAILS: Novella in the Boston Underworld Series
AUDIO AVAILABLE? Not yet
PUBLICATION/ RELEASE DATE: December 28th 2018

THE STORY

Conor O'Callaghan is the youngest rookie of the Irish mafia, he is a bit of a loner but doesn't mind so much as he dedicates his time to his brothers in the mob.

Ivy is on the run from the Lenox Hill Gang-Locos salvo. She witnessed something she should not have and is now a threat to the Irish but seeks safety at Slaint'e strip club hoping they will spare her life.

When you're between a rock and a hard place, it's always wise to choose the lesser of two evils. In my case that's the Irish fucking mob.

Crow the Mafia leader orders Connor to keep an eye on Ivy to find out what she knows and deal with her if necessary.

Crow asked this one thing of me. The only thing he's ever asked of me to do in confidence. It's my chance to prove myself, show my loyalty. And if I don't do it. I'm fucked. If it isn't me that kills her, somebody else will.

When Connor finds out Ivy's heartbreaking back story he risks everything to protect her offering her a life where she no longer needs to run or hide but it could cost him his life and Ivy her freedom.

description

MY THOUGHTS:
Connor and Ivy's story is the final story in A. Zavarelli’s ‘Boston Underworld' series, being a novella it is a quick read but full of everything you'd expect from Ashleigh's writing talents.

Conner is broody and possessive, but full of honor. Ivy is vulnerable but so strong. I admired her determined to make it work with Connor despite her struggles with his involvement in the Mafia and what that means for her life. .

He’s mafia. A killer. I couldn’t pick a worse guy for me out of a lineup. But I can’t deny that the longer I’m around him, the more he draws me into his orbit. It’s an impossible want. The moon might as well be chasing the sun.

A.Zavarelli is such a great story teller. I devoured this book in one day. It's fast paced, full of angst and drama and of course those deliciously dangerous Irish mob men of hers that I can't simply get enough of. I am actually so sad that this series is finished now.

MY RATINGS: (All ratings are out of 5)
HERO RATING: 5
HEROINE RATING: 5
BLUSH RATING: 3

"If we're going to do this, we're not going to phone it in."
It was great catching up with the Boston Underworld guys. And Ms. Zavarelli's writing was as readable as ever - there just wasn't enough of it.

I felt the story arc and the characters' problems were too involved to be resolved within a novella. With the shorter word count, everything came across as superficial and obvious. It's too bad the author didn't write this as a full-length novel because it could have been fabulous.

Also there were quite a few instances of a careless changing/shifting of details that pulled me out of the story.

But having said that, I devoured these pages, so take my whining with a grain of salt. If you're a fan of this series - like me - this is a must read!

While I enjoyed this book it’s not my favourite of the series.

Ivy is desperate. She’s hiding from the Locos, living on the street and so thin she looks like a drug addict. Life couldn’t get much worse and Ivy couldn’t be more desperate.
She hangs out at Sláinte because it’s the only place she feels safe.

Conor is given the job of keeping an eye on her. It’s his chance to finally prove himself. And nothing is more important to Conor than the brotherhood.

But there’s something about Ivy that calls to him. Realising that he won’t be able to kill her the only other option he can see is marriage.

This was a good gritty read. My only real problem was it just felt like something missing between Conor and Ivy.

Audiobook: Narrator – Tracy Marks

Ms. Marks is definitely the voice of this series and I can’t imagine listening to it with any other narrator. She does such a superb job of bringing these characters to life, showcasing a depth of emotion that is unparalleled to other audios I’ve listened to. I never struggle with her male/female voices and she has their accents down perfectly, at least for the Texan who, honestly, wouldn’t know a true Boston/Irish accent if it bit her on the nose. But nevertheless, I’m accepting it as 100% legit and you can’t change my mind.

I hate that this is the last of the series, or at least it appears to be. I’ve loved every book and this one rocketed my love for it into the stratosphere.

I love a story where the heroine is the underdog, sweet and in trouble with no help in sight. And that’s exactly what I got with Ivy. She’s in desperate need of a job, and in her attempts to get one she has put herself on the Irish Mob’s radar. Enter Connor.

description

Connor was pulled into the Irish mafia when he went in search for revenge against his brother’s killer. Since that time he’s continued to prove himself to them, although it’s really only in his own mind. When he’s tasked with finding out what Ivy’s story is he resents not only the job, but her. His misconceptions about her lead to a fiery meeting as well as additional moments which has him treating her pretty shabbily. But as in the very best of stories, once he realizes her true circumstances, he allows his alpha light to shine.

I loved that Connor was so protective and possessive of Ivy. Even when he was fighting his own feelings towards her, he couldn’t stop himself from protecting her. Ivy was sweet and caring, and she grabbed Connor’s heart from pretty much the beginning. This couple have a lot to overcome, both in their relationship as well as from outside sources. But through it all there was never a doubt that they were meant for each other and their chemistry was electric.

description

This is a fast read/listen and I gobbled it down as quickly as possible. The steam is scorching and the characters were well developed with backgrounds that captured my heart and had me rooting for them as not only individuals but as a couple. Secondary characters help to move the story along and there is some pretty graphic violence that resulted in more graphic violence. I was completely cheering on the latter violence.

Damn! I tried to like this book more than 2 stars. But I end up only with 2 stars.

I like Miss Zavarelli's works in the past. When I picked up Conor, I hesistate actually. The lenght of the audiobook is only 5 hours. So I am pessimictic with the plot. And I am right!

The plot is so weak, the characters does not develop very well, the climax is recyled and resolved too quickly. The sex is cold and forced. Miss Zavarelli fails to bring a bang to the story/ plot.

Big nah for me.

I’m going to keep it short here as I have the Devil and the Dancer to get back to.

I love this series a lot. All of the books in this series have been grand with the right mixture in suspense, romance and the ease that the author brings to us with her stories. I was so intrigued by Conor and maybe my expectations were just too high, but it went from instalust on sight, to instlove a day later. Although Conor tried to convince everyone including himself that he hated her.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem with instalove but he goes from maybe having to kill her to getting married, yes he did it to save her so who am I to argue? Otherwise there would be no story.

I recommend this series and book and even if it didn’t quite work out for me, I still really enjoyed it.

Bonus there is n/w drama.

***3,75 "I'm going to take care of you!!!" stars***

I had no clue at all that there will be a sixth book in the series and when i realized it, i was so happy, because i love this series very much and i liked this book also, but i can say that i had some minor issues with how unrealistic the things were moving....

Well, in here was Connor's turn, the Veniamin of the Irish bunch...
A young man who was trying to prove all the time that he was deserving to be a part of the Irish Syndicate!!!!
Here, we saw how Connor got in the Syndicate and now, it's his turn to prove his worth to Crow with this new task that he has to deal!!! The new dancer, Ivy!!!!
But almost immediately, Ivy is turning out a great challenge for Connor and his heart...
So, will he manage to prove himself in the Syndicate or will he lose everything because of a woman???

"She doesn't get that she's ruined me. That she's probably going to get me killed."

Well, i liked Connor... I liked his honesty and his sense of honor... I liked his kindness...
I also liked Ivy... Ivy with the hard past and the big secret that she is trying to hide from those whom are after her...
Connor is coming unexpectendly in her life, but he gave her a chance to hope, even though she was refusing to accept it...
They were good for each other, i believe!!!!

"There is a softness in his eyes I've never seen before, and it scares me. It scares me because it makes me feel like I can trust him and that's the worst possible mistake I could ever make."

Now, the things that made me rolling my eyes was the fast unrealistic pace between Connor and Ivy's relationship... Everything happened so damn fast and it was hard to accept it in a way...
I think that if the author made the two days, a month would be more acceptable!!!
The other thing that I'm not so sure about is that after the abuse that Ivy went through, she was very willing participant and it was a little bit.. strange!!!!
Overall, i enjoyed and this book in the series, even though i couldn't characterized it as my best of them!!!

"She's mine, and she always has been. I just didn't know it until now."

GAHH!! Christmas came early folks! When A. Zavarelli has a new story I immediately drop everything to devour it. I was very excited about Conor's book as I couldn't wait to dive back into her amazing Boston Underworld series. I truly loved this story as it was not only dark, sexy and edgy but also emotionally compelling. I loved Conor and Ivy. Their connection was very intense and the push and play between them was absolutely delicious!

Forced to hide out at Slainté, the club run by the Irish mob, The Syndicate, Ivy is running from a dangerous past and an even bigger secret. But she has no idea what to expect when she is put in the crosshairs of Conor O'Callahan. He is dangerous and deadly but with an intense attraction between them and an even deadlier enemy after her, she is shocked at his demand: Marry him for protection or die at at the Irish mob's hands. But when lines get blurred and their fiery chemistry combusts, will Conor be able to protect Ivy before it is too late?

GAH!! I loved this story SOOOOO much. It was dark and intense but so emotional and sexy. Conor was so compelling. His painful past and the reasons why he joined The Syndicate were heartbreaking. My heart broke for him. Ivy, likewise, was one of my favorite heroines this author has written as like Conor, she was strong and protective over the ones she loved. They were a perfect match for one another. Conor was one of my favorite books in this series! I hope this series never ends! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

3.5 stars

Conor is book 6 in the Boston Underworld series. I loved Conor, he was possessive and protective of Ivy from the beginning and I thought it was cute how he tried to fight it. Ivy has had a rough time and unfortunately finds herself in a tough situation but I loved how she made her choice and tried to work with it especially for Archer. While nothing is easy for either of them I loved how it turned out in the end.

Any time Zavarelli announces an upcoming release, I am over the moon! when it's this series..

Main Characters

I didn’t think this series could get better, however, Conor proved me wrong. I loved the way his mind works. I love his dedication and devotion to protecting every essence of Ivy.

He is the ultimate alpha perfection!

As a heroine, Ivy’s strength and determination to making sure she overcomes the fucked up cards life has handed to her will just about make her everything.

This was bittersweet. I will most definitely be rereading the BU series many many times...

Lately I've been in a book funk I guess.. I find little annoying things in everything.

I enjoyed this one, I loved this entire series! This one was so much fun even though some things annoyed me a bit.

Ivy is a very sweet and very strong woman who has had a hard time without asking for it. Before you go of I know not everyone is asking for it..
Conor is a hard alpha in the beginning it was hard to like em but that turned around pretty quickly!

I love arranged marriages and forced weddings. I know in real life I wouldn't but now it's so exciting to read about it!

Their journey wasn't one without heartache but it was actually pretty low on the drama. Wich was a bit strange for a mafia read. But sometimes it's fun also! But maybe I'm just used to a lot.

4,5 stelline

Mi è piaciuta molto la leggenda legata all'anello
