The characters were quirky and funny, and I especially liked Boots, who could climb anything. The pacing was good, and I loved some of the imagery from the storms to the trash to the mountainous caves in the end. I also found the relationship between the children and the adults in the book fascinating. A fun read!

I loved bold Ruby, the protagonist, and the tension between her and her timid love interest Guy. And her mind reading and predilection for poison were quite tantalizing. I also appreciated the feminist slant and voice. I LOVED this book and have been recommending it to everyone I know. ...more
