Some people are just meant to tell stories and Taylor Jenkins Reid is certainly one of them. This was a refreshing and heartbreaking read as we follow a couple falling in love for the first time to falling out of love. This book is so good it hurts. Taylor Jenkins Reid did it again! She has become my favorite author of all time. This book was about 80 pages and still, I felt so much, I almost cried several times. THIS WAS A SHORT STORY, I often don't really even care for short stories but TJR's writing and her storytelling *chef's kiss*, if you've not read anything by her GO FIX THAT RIGHT NOW!!!
The Plot
“My heart goes out to you, David. Even though I do not know you…"
The story begins when Carrie writes a letter to a stranger called David because she suspects that her husband has been cheating on her with his wife. She has found letters from David's wife to her husband that reveals painfully devastating details of their clandestine meetings and their affair. In such a painful situation, both Carrie and David find comfort in writing letters to each other, discussing the situation as they are both in the same state of mind.
The Writing
“It is funny the crazy things our brains make up to save us from the truth.”
There's something so refreshing, reading books written in alternative formats. This entire story is written in the form of letters exchanged between two strangers. Taylor Jenkin's Reid's writing is marvelous, her writing is one of the major things that make me fall in love with her books.
The Characters
“Do you ever feel like your life got away from you somehow?”
TJR's ability to write characters of hers that feel so real is absolutely mind-blowing to me. I love Carrie and David, they are so precious<3 Also Carrie listens to Daisy Jones so obviously she's incredible<33 That asshole Ken can die!! I have mixed feelings about Janet (David's wife) but in the end, I kind of liked her idk¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Final Thoughts
“You gave me hope and perspective and confidence.”

“Don't ignore half of me so you can fit me into a box. Don't do that.”
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo isn’t just a book, it’s an experience. So I’m already in pain right now so what better way to make yourself suffer than to write a review where you remember everything of this heartbreaking yet beautiful book. There it is, Taylor Jenkins Reid has done it again showing me that five stars aren’t fucking enough for her books. I’m not sure whether I finished this book or this book finished me.
Now let’s talk about the impeccable plot, shall we?
“Never let anyone make you feel ordinary.”
The book is about Evelyn Hugo, an aging Hollywood icon known for her scandalous affairs and her glamorous life. And now she has finally decided to tell the truth of her life and address the rumors when she suddenly appoints Monique Grant to write her biography.
Monique is a small writer but this opportunity of a lifetime came knocking at her door which can help jumpstart her career by a great fold.
As Monique listens to Evelyn narrate her tragic, beautiful, scandalous life all the way from the beginning when she came to Los Angeles in the 1950s, she feels a deeper connection with the star but as Evelyn’s story comes to the conclusion, it becomes clearer that Monique’s life intersects with Evelyn in a tragic way.
Now the characters in this book, the brutally flawed, broken, happy, and sad characters that made this book so iconic and depressing that I can’t seem to be able to forget about them.
From the start we know that everyone is going to die as now that everyone is dead, Evelyn is finally telling her story but every single time a person died, I was dumbfounded and felt like a part of my heart had been stripped away because I had already connected with the characters so much that I didn’t want to part ways.
"They are just husbands. I am Evelyn Hugo. And anyway, I think once people know the truth, they will be much more interested in my wife.”
This book is about Evelyn Hugo and Taylor Jenkins Reid wants you to know that because Evelyn is not a character who can be pushed to the sidelines, wherever she stands she makes her mark thus making herself the most iconic bitch who won’t hesitate in taking whatever she wants. I just love Evelyn a lot. You can’t hate Evelyn, you just can’t even if you wanted to. The way she unconditionally loved Celia and would do anything for her was breathtakingly beautiful
“I spent half my time loving her and the other half hiding how much I loved her.”
Celia St. James was the love of Evelyn’s life. Celia is a complex character even though I truly understand the reasons behind the way she acted as she did, I couldn’t help but be frustrated with her decisions. But real people are flawed and make mistakes which only makes Celia feel like a real person, her pain, her suffering, her love all felt deep and meaningful.
“Harry was my greatest friend. He invented me. He was the person who loved me the most unconditionally. The person I loved the most purely, I think. Other than my daughter. But no, he was not the love of my life.“
Harry Cameron is one of the characters in this book that you just can’t help but fall in love with. He’s too precious to me and his friendship with Evelyn was one of the greatest things that happened. I truly adored his character and personality, the way he cares about Evelyn, and the people he loves. Harry and Evelyn are platonic soulmates their friendship made me beyond happy and broke me at the same time.
Some of the husbands in this book were assholes and I wanted to kill them. The husbands I hated the most were Don Adler, Mick Riva, and Max Girard, others were more or less fine. I don’t have much to say about them other than they are assholes and do not deserve to live.
“Sometimes reality comes crashing down on you. Other times reality simply waits, patiently, for you to run out of the energy it takes to deny it.”
The writing in this book was absolutely gorgeous. I marvel at how Taylor Jenkins Reid makes her characters feel so real, flawed, broken yet lovable and amazing. I adore her writing, it’s quite atmospheric.
“It’s always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly.”
By the end of this book, I felt broken, lost, and empty. It brought out every single emotion in me. I felt a surge of separation as I finished this book. The plot twist at the end yet again destroyed me, I was not ready for the pain this book brought me. I’m in awe of this book. It truly is a masterpiece. From the highly addicting tone of this book to the everlasting impact it holds on you, this book is one to be remembered through the ages.
_____________________ Thank you Taylor Jenkins Reid for breaking me in the most heartwrenching and beautiful way possible. My heart is in pain, the end pages of my copy of this book are wet due to the searing pain this caused me, My heart is so heavy that I can't even think of anything else.

Holy shit this was amazing!! This was a hopelessly romantic 'enemies to lovers'(Well it was more of an annoyance to lovers) story, that was such a joyous read to be honest. Of course I loved the main characters Alex and Henry. I also loved seeing Alex's relationship with his sister. This is just one of those story's which will make you laugh, because it's hilarious and also make you cry at times. I almost cried multiple times. The fact that Alex and Henry started ending their emails with quotes from letters by important figures that were all about missing and loving each other which later on connected to the fact that they made their own history about their love, got me teary eyed. So yeah overall such a great read and totally worth the hype!!! ...more

I was obsessing over a rock band earlier today and suddenly I thought...You know this is the perfect time to reread Daisy Jones & The Six. And I was right, the timing was indeed perfection. I loved this book, even more, the second time if that's even possible. Just fucking iconic and heartbreaking all at once.
“Men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people.”
Daisy Jones & The Six is a masterpiece. Giving this five stars feels like a disgrace to it as it's so much more than some mere stars. Five stars aren't enough for this...Five stars aren't fucking enough. I will forever be broken *cries*

TW: Drug/alcohol abuse, Abortion, Self- harm
This is the best book I've ever read in my life. I liked it from the beginning but I thought it was good maybe a four-star read but about 100 pages in and everything just clicked into place and I thought wow, ok so this is not going to be anything less than a 5 star read for me.
The Beginning
“The truth often lies, unclaimed, in the middle."
—Author’s note
The book starts with an Author's note which basically states that the truth lies in between the lines. So we don't exactly know what is the actual truth and we'll never know as the characters in this book reflect on the events that happened forty years ago while being high so obviously they won't remember what exactly happened and as a result, all characters remember certain events differently. I think this poses a great opportunity for us readers as it's up to us to believe what is true. And because of this, every person who reads this book will have a different experience with it and interpret things differently. And that's just one of the things that makes this book absolutely marvelous, and I'm just getting started...
The Plot
“Confidence is being okay being bad, not being okay being good.”
Everybody knows who Daisy Jones & The Six is, but they don't know why the band decided to break up at the peak of their success until now as they come together after 40 years, to tell the truth...
This book follows Daisy Jones and the band The Six. Daisy Jones, grew up on the sunset strip, everyone knows her. She is feeling lost, she doesn't seem to be able to belong anywhere and her parents don't care about her. She goes to bars, loves getting high and drunk but her true love is Rock 'n Roll. She has an incredible voice but all people seem to care about is her looks and she wants them to care about her songs and what she has to say. Another band is rising at the same time called The Six led by Billy Dunne. But as they are leaving for their first tour, his girlfriend Camila tells Billy she's pregnant. Hearing that Billy spirals, struggling with the idea of balancing fatherhood and fame lead him to do some shady things on tour.
Daisy Jones and The Six cross paths as their producer realizes that them being on the same album will be legendary and the key to their success and fame. And from there the story begins...
The Writing
“We love broken, beautiful people. And it doesn't get much more obviously broken and more classically beautiful than Daisy Jones.”
I loved every aspect of this book and the main reason why I loved this so much was all because of Taylor Jenkins Reid's spectacular writing. The ability of the author to make the characters seem so real is truly something to be applauded for. I refuse to believe that this band is fictional and we can't listen to their songs because this book played in my head as if I were listening to a real documentary. The writing was utterly beautiful and too masterful to be expressed in words.
The Characters(This Entire section contains spoilers)
Daisy
“I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else's muse. I am not a muse. I am the somebody. End of fucking story.”
Daisy Jones is one of my fictional role models and someone I aspire to be. She is one of the most iconic characters that I've ever read about. She does whatever she wants and doesn't do it for getting men's attention. But Daisy Jones is broken and lonely and Taylor Jenkins Reid wants you to know that she has made a lot of terrible choices (like marrying Niccolo, that bitch). She has an incredible voice and when she gets recognition for her voice, she feels so happy, which makes me feel so happy because I'm so attached to her. She realizes that the drugs are killing her and she doesn't want it but she's addicted to it. When she goes into rehab and gets sober, her life becomes golden.
Billy
“Passion is...it's fire. And fire is great, man. But we're made of water. Water is how we keep living. Water is what we need to survive.”
From the beginning, I thought that why does Billy lie so much and why is he so annoying but when later on its revealed that Julia is the author of this book (Which Oh My God I didn't see that twist coming) it made perfect sense because of course, he'll make it seem that he is less of a terrible person than he was and his relationship with Camila was more faithful because he's telling this story to his daughter. But that doesn't exclude the fact that he cheated on his own wife when she was pregnant. And one thing I don't tolerate is cheating. And he also told all of his bandmates that this is a democracy when realistically he was doing all the work and didn't want other's input. I did like that it was shown just how difficult it is to overcome addiction even after rehab and how he's struggling to die down his urge of drinking.
Karen
“That’s the glory of being a man. An ugly face isn’t the end of you.”
Oh, Karen my feminist Queen<3 Some of the best quotes in this book were mostly all said by Karen. She was always degraded by men and called crazy for not wanting kids and wanting to have a family. Even in The Six, she was not given much value for her keyboard skills but she said this line that Daisy was the first person to object to Billy's motives and that made her feel like she could also get her way here because of her. And she did.
When Karen was going through abortion and she brought Camila there and instead of leaving Karen there she stayed and held her hand and said this -
“A part of me wishes you wanted kids because my kids make me so happy. But...I think in order to be happy like I’m happy, you need different things. And I want you to have whatever those things are.”
I lost it, Camila is such a wonderful person. I cried so much at that.
Graham
"Women will crush you, you know? I suppose everybody hurts everybody, but women always seem to get back up, you ever notice that? Women are always still standing.”
I didn't really like Graham that much, he felt like a very neutral character. I did like the part where Billy rejected his song, but later on, when he sold it to another band, it was a big hit.
But let's talk about him and Karen. I actively disliked the part where he told Karen was crazy for not wanting a child. And when she told him, she was not pregnant anymore he acted like she deprived him of something and looked at her like as though saying 'How could you do this to me?' Women can do whatever they want with their body
Eddie and Warren
"Music can dig, you know? It can take a shovel to your chest and just start digging until it hits something"
Don't have much to say about them but Eddie was annoying but I got where he was coming from as Billy was constantly cutting off his lines.
I feel bad for Warren, he seems to be the only sane person in the book (him and Pete). I always imagined him being around others who were mad at each other and he must've thought that "What the hell is going on exactly?"...more
