We are introduc My Thoughts: I had no idea what to expect when I started The Lipstick Laws. It looks like a chick lit book mixed with more chick lit. We are introduced to April Bowers, the main character. April feels invisible and isn't very popular. On top of that, her best friend Hayley; really her only friend, just moved away so April is forced to deal with high school alone again. Next, we are introduced to Britney, who is the complete opposite of April. She's popular, can have anything she wants, including clothes, guys, and popularity.
On the first day of school, April runs into Britney and pretends she is new to the school. April ends up hanging out with Britney quite a bit and becomes part of her clique. She is than introduced to the lipstick laws. They are basically rules, or laws that each girl in Britney's set of friends has to follow. As I read more and more about the laws, I was really turned off. I really did not like Britney!!! She was pure mean girl material! I know we were meant to feel a little bit sorry for her but I just didn't. There is a guy who is new to the school that April also takes a liking too.
Of course April ends up violating one of the rules and there starts the Lipstick Lawbreakers. April finds more girls like her and they form their own sort of group and set their own goal, to take down Britney once and for all and to make her feel the way she made them all feel. Like losers!
Honestly, I think most teenage girls have lived this book. It's happened to us at one point or another. We've wanted to be accepted and to feel popular. We've wanted to be in the spotlight.
I really enjoyed reading The Lipstick Laws. I loved watching April's character develop and I enjoyed watching her grow a backbone and stand up for herself. At times, I did think she was a hypocrite though. I still wanted to see her happy.
I also really liked the relationship with her and her crush. This book had a itsy bitsy speck bit of romance in it but not too much.
Overall: Mean girls meets chick lit in The Lipstick Laws. It was a fun book to read on a cozy night. Witty dialogue with laugh out loud moments!
Cover: Really love the cover! Look at it! The lips can really grab your attention and hold it! If I saw that sitting in a store, I'd definitely grab it!

I just had to see what else Suzanne had in store for us. We are introduced to Alice who is a famous author's daughter. She hides tons of secrets about her mother. Everyone thinks her mother is off working on her latest novel while Alice and the people who live in her building know the truth. The truth is that The Queen Of Romance is having mental problems. Alice goes to her mom's signing in her place and meets a guy named Errol who claims he's cupid. He wants Alice to write his story, the story of him and Psyche. First off, I'll say that I didn't know much about this story going in which is ironic because I'm such a believer in love and all things having to do with love. Alice also meets another guy Tony, aka skateboard guy. She admires him from a far through her window for a few weeks than finally bumps into him. Fate?
We are taken down the long winding road of Alice helping Errol write his story and Alice getting to know Tony. I kind of felt Errol was a jerk at first to Alice making her do what he wanted but I kind of understood since he didn't have much time left and he wanted his story written. I instantly liked Tony. I laughed out loud when he said he liked cereal too during a conversation with Alice.
I enjoyed watching Alice begin to learn how serious her mom's condition is, and how to grow up and be responsible. She was just so young trying to juggle all the problems of a household on her own and that broke my heart.
Selfors knows how to make me laugh, smile, cry for Alice, and have a good time getting to know the characters. I also liked all the other characters throughout the book.
Overall: I really liked Mad Love! It was a sweet wonderful story!
Cover: Love the cover! It's so simple but neat. I love the heart and I love the words inside it.

I liked Fairytale and Sleepless but I didn't love them like I had hoped. I liked them but didn't love love em. Well, Starstruck was a lot different and I felt myself becoming more interested as I read.
We meet Dough who is a teenager who has been dating her best childhood friend Wish. He moved away a few years ago and they have been talking through phone calls, chat messages, and email. He hasn't seen her in a few years besides a few pictures that are cropped at her neck. She has gained weight and is embarrassed about it, especially when she finds out he's moving back to town. And she isn't given much notice! There is also a new guy working at her family's business so they become kind of friends. His name is Christian. Well, Wish shows up and he still sees Dough as her old self. He looks right past the outside and sees her personality. Of course Dough sees how hot Wish has gotten.
This one was very strange, but in a good way. Come to find out, there is something more mysterious about Wish and the way people see him. Has he really changed that much or is there some way to make others think he's better than what he is? Christian was also from California; where Wish had been living so everyone was connected one way or another.
I didn't see the ending of this one coming. I figured there was something up but I didn't actually know what. At first I thought he was a vampire (thats the in thing right?) but that idea soon passed and I didn't know what was up with him.
The only thing I didn't like was how Dough always put herself down. It was always about her weight and I felt really bad for her but I wanted to give her a pep talk and tell her to cheer up. I also liked hearing about her family. And the small interactions with Christian.
This one was surprisingly good and its a quick read, under 300 pages.
Overall: I really liked it. It was a fun little novel.

We are introduced to Addy, who is basically a peasant. She gets picked on by the other girls, she walks with her head down, she wants to just fit in and if she can't just be ignored completely. Addy lives in England in 1915. One day after an incident with another girl her mother threatens to send her away to work and do what "she's supposed to do." But things don't go as planned and she ends up working for an elderly old man. He lost his son years ago and has never been the same sense. While in his house cleaning, she finds a device that is a time machine that takes Addy back in time to her town during the Middle Ages. She thinks this is so great! She can go back in time and live as someone else! She goes back and is mistaken for Lady Mitilda so she plays along thinking its better than whoever she really is. She finds out shes to be the bride of a much older man, ick. And of course she meets Will and falls in love with him instead. And that is basically forbidden because she's already promised to another. Of course there is a lot of other things going on behind the scene and Addy realizes just what she has gotten herself into.
Wildwing was a creative book but it just didn't hold up for me. It was predictable in some parts, I knew what was going to happen before it would happen and that bugged me. I want to be surprised. I don't like seeing things coming.
Overall: I liked Wildwing but didn't love it. It was an okay historical romance. I wish I could have gotten more surprises but overall, I'm happy with the way it ended. I'm glad things went that way. I liked seeing all the dilemmas she got herself in. She wasn't perfect.

She's unique, she's deaf, she's in independent, she's average, not popular, not in a clique, all in her own little world. Until one day she gets into a signing (sign language) fit with her brother and ends up telling Dumb, a local band, she can get them a gig in a month! How in the world can she do this when she can't really even hear the band? Dumb won battle of the bands and she knows they are good but are they good enough, really? She than converts her friend Ed into joining the band. Along comes another girl and a band is form, with Piper as their manager!
Piper leads the band to getting paid gigs, to recording a song, to appearing on a tv show. Piper is dealing with so much emotional turmoil. First she has to deal with her parents spending her college money on her sister's new hearing aids, the new and improved kind. Second, she than has to deal with feelings for a certain boy she's developing feelings for and she just can't get a break.
I'll be honest, I love music books. I loved Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph, I adore books that focus on music. I love learning facts about deceased singers. I did not know Kurt Cobain died so young. I guess I never really thought about it when I was a teen listening to Nirvana.
I loved watching Piper learn to grow up, I loved how her relationship with her family developed. I loved how her brother treated her. I loved how he would even hug her. I loved this book. I loved the way her crush treated her. I loved that he learned things for her and did everything in his power to be around her. I enjoyed this book!
Overall: Really liked it a lot! I need to find more books that focus on music.
Cover: Love it! The colors even flow nicely with the text, girl, etc.
My Thoughts: Hmm. Well, at first I was going to pass on reading The Candidates. I've been more selective lately on books I've been reading. And I was My Thoughts: Hmm. Well, at first I was going to pass on reading The Candidates. I've been more selective lately on books I've been reading. And I was going to put this one on the backburner for a while. I picked it up anyway after a few recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed The Candidates. We are introduced to Dancia who is just your average teenager except she's not! She tries to be invisible but there is more to her than meets the eye. She has a power. She makes things happen without really even trying. Its hard to control. Things just tend to happen when she gets in sticky situations and wants to help people. She helps them without even thinking about it. A reflex. She tries to keep it under wraps but that is easier said than done.
One day, recruiters from Delcroix Academy show up. Delcroix Academy is this super exclusive private school up the road from Danville. She doesn't understand why in the world they would want her. She's so ordinary, poor, nothing special. She decides to take the scholarship and attends. First off, I liked how she made friends even though she told herself she wouldn't get close to anyone. It was fun watching her interact with the girls. Second, I liked the romance aspect of this book. Cam, is totally swoonworthy, older guy, who seems drawn to Dancia. Of course Dancia is a bit worried and cautious, why would a guy like Cam like her? Is there more to his story? Than there is Jack. Sweet Jack. He's a bit of a rebel and troublemaker and also recruited. Dancia finds out he's basically been living on his own, going from place to place, and she befriends him easily. Honestly, I liked Jack much more than Cam and I was silently rooting for him the whole time. His intentions just seemed so much more pure than Cam's. Both of them have their quirks.
I liked the characters, I liked the plot, I liked realizing what their secret talents were. I liked how Cam and Jack both went out of their way to try to explain the truth to Dancia. I liked the book a lot. It was very enjoyable and a neat read.
Dancia also learns there is more to Delcroix Academy than she originally thought. The school is definitely not what she thought it was, is that a good or bad thing?
Overall: I really enjoyed this one! I would have liked to get to know Jack a little bit better but overall, I enjoyed this and can't wait for Book 2: The Watchers.
Cover: I like the cover. I just don't love it.
What I'd Give It: 4/5 Cupcakes

My Thoughts: Prom? Kissing? Betrayal? Friends? Check!!! We are introduced to 3 individual girls who could not be more different if they tried. First, My Thoughts: Prom? Kissing? Betrayal? Friends? Check!!! We are introduced to 3 individual girls who could not be more different if they tried. First, there is Bliss who is popular, queen bee, has the perfect boyfriend (or so she thought) and is the girl who would most likely be prom queen. Next there is Jolene. Jolene seems like a rebel, she gets into trouble, she steps out against the norm. Last there is Meg. Meg is quiet, independent, nerdy, and the girl you'd want to help you with your homework. All 3 girls get thrown together during the night of their prom. None of their proms are what they thought it would be. They are left feeling upset and very dissatisfied. Bliss finds her boyfriend making out with her best friend, Jolene gets stood up, and Meg just wants to have a good time and maybe dance with the guy she's crushing on.
Bliss and Jolene start talking and realize they must do something about all of their problems! Meg basically gets thrown into the mix because she's the ride! Bliss ends up finding her best friends diary and has this notion to leave it in her friend's boyfriends doom room so he can discover she's cheating with Bliss's boyfriend. Jolene just wants to get her father back and make him understand. Meg just wants to learn to be more brave.
I really enjoyed The Anti-Prom! I liked seeing how Jolene's relationship with her guy friend developed. I really liked him! I liked the college boy Meg meets and I liked how Bliss realized she was better off without her cheating lying scum boyfriend.
This book was full of laughs and was made of fun. It was like a mini road trip of fun with these girls! Even though the guys weren't in the story very often I liked the little details into their personalities we do see. I liked seeing the girls become friends even though they were so different. Even though I did enjoy Boys Bears and A Serious Pair Of Hiking Boots a bit more; this author knows how to write a fun story.
Overall: Really enjoyed it! If you haven't read Boys Bears and A Serious Pair Of Hiking Boots be sure to check that one out too while your buying The Anti-Prom!
Cover: The cover is cute! Love how we can't see the faces and the balloons make it even funner!
My Thoughts: Once In A Full Moon was unique but not as great as I hoped it would be. It was also my very first book by Schreiber. We are introduced toMy Thoughts: Once In A Full Moon was unique but not as great as I hoped it would be. It was also my very first book by Schreiber. We are introduced to Celeste who is your average teenage girl. She hangs out with her two best friends, their boyfriends, and her boyfriend Nash. The guys are also all best friends so they make the perfect sixsome. They all seem happy enough at first. Celeste starts researching werewolves for a school paper and she tries to learn everything she can about them. A new guy shows up at school, his name is Brandon and he's from the other other side (the place is set up along the lines of Eastside and Westside). Nobody really likes him because he keeps to himself.
One day while walking home Celeste gets lost near the woods during a snowstorm. She is surrounded by wolves ready to attack. All of a sudden Brandon is there and scares them away but in the process he gets bitten.
Over the course of the next few weeks, strange things start happening to Brandon as Celeste's feelings grow for him. A lot happens and the ending is left open for a sequel.
What can I possibly say about Once In A Full Moon? I wanted to love this book. It was just okay. There were some parts that just felt so immature and should have been plain to see for Celeste and she seemed so naive she didn't notice. One example, is when Mrs. Meadows (the psychic or was she?) was trying to find out about Brandon and Celeste thought she was wanting to help him when it was so obvious that her goal was to expose him. Some of the werewolf symptoms also didn't make sense. To me, werewolves always look like wolves when they change (LOL) and in this one, he just grew a goatee and hair on his body.He didn't really turn into a wolf like I wanted him too.
Once In A Full Moon was just okay but it didn't live up to my expectations.
Overall: It was okay. It was a quick read so at least there was that. If it had been 500ish pages I probably would have just set it down and been done with it. I also finished this one right after Anna And The French Kiss and what could possibly live up to that, right? I think if you like more tween books than teen, you'll enjoy it more than I did.

Summary: “I’ve left some clues for you. If you want them, turn the page. If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”
So begins the latest whirlwind romance from the New York Times bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?
My Thoughts: I was so excited to get this book in the mail! I had seen a few people raving about it on twitter so I knew I just had to read it! Plus it sounded like so much fun! And it was! I adored Dash and Lily's Book Of Dares. First, we are introduced to the main characters Dash and Lily. Both of them have their own family situations and are both staying home for Christmas so Lily decides to leave a red notebook for someone to find with a dare in it. First things first, the place she leaves it in is The Strand. Come on, most of you book lovers know of The Strand. In New York! I've never been there but I'd love to visit the bookstore! Well, that right there got me really excited. She than leaves it by an awesome book and Dash just happens to be browsing that day and finds it. That starts a whirlwind fun challenge game! The things they had to do were so fun and so hilarious! Rubbing Santa's belly, cough cough!
I really enjoyed both Dash and Lily's pages. I loved both of their personalities and just the way both of them thought and felt. I loved how each of them wanted to meet one another face to face but were both hesitate because they were scared they would ruin the fun they were having by not really knowing each other. I haven't read Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist but I did watch the movie. I still think I would have enjoyed Dash and Lily much more. Their friends and relatives were also really funny.
I can't say much more without giving away too many spoilers. This is just one of those books that most people will love and have so much fun and be excited while reading it.
Overall: Loved It! This book was so awesome! I loved the alternating chapters, I loved the characters, I loved their personalities, I loved how they just belonged together. I knew it all along!
Cover: Love It! I think its one of the most colorful beautiful covers I've seen in a while!
