The neutral o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased o There were five different POVs, which made the story hard to follow sometimes o The side plot about the woman Agone and Seren had both... dated? in the past was a little confusing. I wonder if it's going anywhere, or was just there for the original tension
The bad - Eden kept forgiving (or forgetting) Seren hurting her. He cut her deeply time and time again, but somehow her feelings were overridden by lust every time - Seren and Agone kind of failed at protecting her multiple times, which pretty bad for two beings whose sole purpose is to protect her. But they never really apologized for being lousy at their jobs - This book ends on a heavy cliffhanger
It's an exciting start to a new series. I like the tension, and the different strong characters. I do hope Eden doesn't forgive Seren easily, especially now that Agone is on shaky ground. She should let Seren feel her anger. I think I would recommend this book, but only after the sequels are out. This cliffhanger is no joke....more

I liked their banter, their trust and their friendship a lot. They clearly loved each other + Amber taking care of her alien friends instead of selling them out to the government
The neutral o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased o There were a lot of 'cameos' of characters from different series. I haven't read anything by this author before and failed to realize that. I probably missed a lot of the plot because of that
The bad - Many things happened because they 'had to', like leaving Earth or the men leaving Amber behind a few times. Nobody ever tried to do anything about this, everyone always just went right along with everything - Never, not once, have Bain and Dihl offered to run away with Amber and live their lives their own way. It was pretty clear Amber was not very content with the circumstances, but nobody tried to fix anything for her. It also suddenly wasn't an option anymore for them to live on the same planet as Amber's alien friends. She basically had nothing except her mates - (view spoiler)[Earth was threatened by like a gazillion spaceships at some point, and the good guys were severely outnumbered. Then the bad guys just left. I had no idea why and nobody seemed to even care? (hide spoiler)] - Everyone seemed to break the rules that Dihl broke with Amber all the time, but they still got reprimanded for that - Everytime something didn't go Amber's way, she made severe threats. She went as far as to say I hate you to both of her mates, and later threatened to have their bond severed when she didn't get what she wanted right then and there. These are signs of severe abusive and manipulative behavior and not cute at all
Amber was not a good person. She tried to be, and she was nice to those aliens, but the way she treated her mates was really awful and raised a lot of red flags. Yeah, her mates were clueless, but they tried their best for her. Unfortuantely, I wouldn't recommend this book and won't be continuing reading the next installments in the series....more
