This was so cute! I think this might be my favorite book in the Once Upon a Wedding series. I loved Rani and Param and I loved the family aspect of this book too! Dance of Stars and Ashes is a great follow-up to Heart of Night and Fire! I remember leaving the first book reeling from the revelation of a certain character's true identity, so I was super excited to pick this book up to see how Zarya deals with the aftermath. While the pacing of this overall plot is still slower-paced compared to other epic fantasies, there was more action in this sequel. The demon attacks in particular were written super viscerally and it definitely added to the magic of this fantasy world inspired by Indian mythology.
The slowburn between Zarya and you-know-who was also so good! I loved the tension and push-and-pull between them. I do wish the moment in which their enemies to lover dynamic sifted wasn't as sudden, but I still really enjoyed their relationship.
Overall, I'd give this book 4.25 stars! I'm excited to see where the series takes us next.

WOW. I'm having a hard time formulating my thoughts mainly because this book was FANTASTIC but also because I'm struggling trying to type this out with my vision obstructed by my tears. I sobbed so hard reading this book. A Drop of Venom is such a powerful commentary of the stigma of sexual violence and gender roles in South Asian communities, as well as sisterhood, resilience, and vengeance. While I am familiar with the origin story of Medusa, it was so cool to see this infamous character in Greek mythology be intertwined with Indian mythology as well. I loved following Manisha and Pratyush, and seeing how their individual journeys and timelines intertwined throughout the couple months that they know each other. The romance between them is definitely not a main focus of the story, but the story is still romantic.
Additionally, for a writer that has only published contemporary novels, Sajni Patel's storytelling in a fantasy setting is so well done! I was fully immersed in this world and following the characters and mythology closely. It was very easy to read and digest, and I can't wait for Eshani's story next!
I do want to share the CWs of this book because it is very heavy and dark at times. Even though it's YA, I'd still recommend it for upper YA readers for the following reasons: sexual assault and rape (on-page and off-page), mutilation, sexism, physical abuse, domestic violence, death, gore.

The Heir is the second book in the Biotech Billionaires series and follows our tow main characters, Henry, the newly appointed CEO to his family's company, and Selena, the PR Manager hired to clean his image of his past transgressions. I enjoyed watching the two grow closer as they attended various events, galas, meetings, etc. From the minimal scenes we got of Henry in the previous book, The Spare, it was nice to see the true side of him. Selena's past was also super interesting to follow along as a working class woman thrust into the world of New York's elite.
Overall, I enjoyed the novel, though I wish that there was a little bit more liveliness to the plot and writing style. This series is more on the somber side of romance, so readers who are more into serious romances will definitely enjoy this book.

After seeing so much buzz for Cross the Line, a new diverse F1 romance, I am very grateful to have received an ARC from the author! I'm very excited for the novel to be published next May because it really is as fantastic as everyone is saying. I've only read a few F1 romances, but even more sports romances, and I truly think that Cross the Line has brought something refreshing to the genre. I really admired reading about such thoughtful South Asian representation even from a non-South Asian author, the perspective of being a man and woman of color in a white-dominated industry, and two characters who are so mature and clear in their communication and desire for each other.
I think in a lot of sports romances, we see so many "alpha male" main characters and so much added misogyny, but Dev really subverted so many of those characteristics by simply being respectful towards Willow (and his peers, friends, and family) and her concerns about taking their relationship public. Also what the actual f--the number of times I cried reading Dev call Willow jaanu are you kidding me ...more

Before Landon and Indira were a star hockey player and lawyer, they were best friends in middle and high school when they played on the same youth hockey team. Their lawyer x client relationship quickly turns into a forbidden friends with benefits relationship, with the two barreling down the path of love.
Overall, I enjoyed Landon and Indira's relationship! You could clearly see how obsessed Landon was with Indira and how he truly couldn't get enough of her. Their scenes together definitely had me melting. I also loved how Indira stood her ground about the terms of their relationship and demanded respect from Landon, especially with her trauma from the sexual assault and abuse she endured in her previous relationship.
I will admit that some of the humor in the book felt outdated. The constant sexual jokes in both Landon and Indira's POVs felt crass and immature for grown adults. The locker room talk in the beginning of the novel was also uncomfortable to read. I understand that Landon is a playboy star hockey player and therefore a little douche-y (granted, he does go through a TON of character development in this book), but the continuous perverted jokes still made me cringe while reading. I hope the upcoming novels following Landon's teammates do not continue this kind of humor because it will be hard to root for them in their own books. I'd knock off a star for my rating just for this, but the book was enjoyable otherwise!
