Carriere takes the reader on the beginning of a journey where we follow different characters and their point of views. Roeg, one of the characters to follow, is someone with secrets that he only begins to uncover in this book. Sephonei is the other, and we get to see another side to the story. At this point, the connection is limited. The way the book is written keeps the reader on their toes, especially with the two points of view. I love we can see the beginnings of each of these characters, and I am hopeful to see where (and if) these individuals will meet up. The story pulled me in with the emotional writing that represents Roeg and the determination of Sephonei. I want to see where they go, where the story will take them. Discovery of oneself and what we can accomplish in the face of adversity, especially when young, is a milestone. I want to read the other books in this series. I would recommend this wonderful book to anyone....more

Wow! What an emotional Rollercoaster! This story about a dad and his autistic son brought tears to my eyes. It is incredible the connection that Tommy ends up having with the chimps in Center's story. As a mother, I can completely relate with Chris's determination to do everything possible for one's child. Add to the mix the fact that he is divorced and at odds with Cheryl, Tommy's mother, and you have conflict of a different sort. It is difficult to maintain any sort balance when one is divorced and with children, but Tommy was a special case. I'm happy with how the book turned out. I loved the way Center portrayed emotions through his words, showing us a life through the father's lens, which as a varied read I can appreciate. It's a wonderful story full of heart, love, and togetherness. I would recommend this book to anyone!...more
I have always thought the world underwater was a majestic and mystical environment. Having grown up in an area where the ocean wasThe Power of Healing
I have always thought the world underwater was a majestic and mystical environment. Having grown up in an area where the ocean was only a thirty-minute drive, I was always interested in what went on under the water’s surface. Reading this book, I could feel the appreciation Merrill had for those teachers of the sea. She describes, through her words, the life lessons these creatures helped her learn. I am even a bit envious of the fact that she was able to live in such close contact with them when she was younger. Dolphins are highly intelligent and even posses individual personalities much like people do. Merrill’s connection to these animals is something that, as a human being, I strive to have in my own life, but with my family and friends. I came to understand, through her words, that sometimes we just need to sit back and observe, find joy and that the ability to communicate with words is a gift. I loved this book so much; I would recommend it to others....more

Full of life lessons impressed upon her by an older generation, Adams’ short stories in this book are quite the treat! In “Simple Arithmetic”, the reader can learn that sometimes just a simple phrase can change another person’s outlook in life. The anecdotes written in Adams’ stories sometimes made me laugh as I read them because I can clearly see and hear the older generation I grew up with in the words. I find it interesting to read, through story-telling, the early life of an author. This is something that is not really seen unless the writing was there for that specific reason. I can appreciate Adams’ want to learn many different things, most of them from her grandfather as that reminds me of my own grandmother and the many things I learned from her during our time together. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone!...more

Poetry can be interpreted in a variety of ways. To me, a good portion of these poems can be attributed to a representation of life and the many twists and turns it can take. Many of them even have the same “characters” such as Luna and Aura that lead some of the dialogues. The collection begins with birth, and I find it very interesting that Singh decided to represent the beginning with a comparison very well suited to a start of something. In the poem “Luna’s Fall” the parallel to a parent’s death hit very close to home with me as I lost my father in 2020, but also how her “young are now slaves/and are ruled by the clock” is another real-life comparison that some of us readers can certainly understand. I love the story-like way Singh has written the poems in. With the characters and dialogue, I do not feel as if I am reading poems, but more short stories where each has their central idea. This is something that is not seen often, and I feel comfortable with recommending this book to anyone, even those who are not avid poetry readers. Loved it!...more
What a read! I have not read this type of story in a long time, especially when referencing religion as in this book. Written in the fCreative Outlook
What a read! I have not read this type of story in a long time, especially when referencing religion as in this book. Written in the first person, Crisp takes us on a wild journey with Sam, our main character. Along with her, we discover what she really is, and we grow alongside her as she learns what she can do, also the other characters are well written as well. Sam was a foster child and eventually ended up in a location where secrets are the name of the game. Some of the other characters end up being really close to her, and I could feel her emotions (even though she does not want them) through the writing. It is fast with a lot of mystery thrown in to keep the reader wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I can appreciate the creativity Crisp is using for this series. I would recommend this book to all, and I cannot wait for the others!...more

Nadeem’s Journey by Sherine Anniruth is a remarkable read that surprised me and made me feel a range of emotions. Nadeem was truly a remarkable young man, and it is not just because it is his mother telling the story. Even at a young age, he was really smart, dependable, a grown little man in a lot of ways. I love the fact that there are pictures of Nadeem as this helps cement a sense of reality. The photos tell the reader that he was a loving boy who eventually became a loving man whose life was cut short. Anniruth is transparent about the medical problems Nadeem had and this helped me connect to Nadeem and what he was going through. The family ends up moving to Australia where Anniruth was able to get a job as a nurse. She mentions this transition as being “overwhelming” and this really resonated with me because I am the daughter of immigrant parents who have also mentioned this as a somewhat nerve-wracking experience. But Nadeem had been different and enjoyed the transition. A few years later, Nadeem would be the first to graduate and become a role model to his younger siblings. At the age of 25, Nadeem passes away from cancer. Sherine Anniruth has written a transparent, emotional, and courageous story about the loss of her son. Seeing his graduation picture brought tears to my eyes because he had his whole life ahead of him. There are many pictures of Nadeem’s time in different places when the cancer hit. Looking at the pictures you can see the love and support they his family had for one another. This story brings a range of emotions out of the reader, you will cry, you will laugh, and you will also feel sympathy. From the moment you read this book you love Nadeem. He was an amazing person and had a supportive and loving family. Anniruth gives the reader insight into the struggles of those suffering from cancer and shows the reader not to take anything for granted. I would certainly recommend this book to all. ...more

A little fun, a little flirty, and a whole lot steamy. Carly is a very relatable character and I truly enjoyed being immersed and learning about her. From her love of all things geeky to the love she has for her father, I fell in love with the way the author wrote her. A modern-day woman with a big heart. Nick is also not the typical vampire we've all come to expect. Yes, he's hot, and yes, he's sexy, but there is more to him; a humanity that many vampires sometimes get back, but almost never start off with. I was genuinely intrigued by the author's description of Nick through Carly's eyes, and even more delighted with the novella through Nick's point of view! I wish the author had incorporated more of Nick during the story, but I would certainly recommend this lovely piece of romance to those who want a feel good story about two people destined to each other. Absolutely loved it!...more

The foreword gives a brief description of what the rest of the book is about while stating that it is not the story of Frank Abagnale, but of the stories of multiple who came together, putting the pieces they had in one compilation. Considering that this is based on real events and people, it is quite the interesting read. THERE ARE facts from a flight attendant who met Abagnale before he began his fake life, his booking agent, and Logan, the credited author, who had done extensive research. I was capitIVated by the sheer amount of information! I also appreciated the fact that they had pictures, which I was not expecting, so I was able to put faces to names. The way Logan takes the reader from the sixties and forward, will appeal to anyone who likes things to have order, going from A to B. The fact that they were able to work together on this puzzle can be seen on the pages of this book as well as the dedication to telling the story. I would recommend this book. Worth the read! ...more

In Hui Beop's writing, I found myself wanting to improve overall. She describes simple things that can be changed over time that will harmonize our body and how it functions. She goes into detail, comparing each organ with a situation that makes it easy to understand, and how these changes can help us. She even goes so far as to define what the organs do and how each has a pivotal role in our health. I loved the fact that she gives bulleted points for the categories as I am the type of person that appreciates that sort of writing when it comes to a book such as this ONE. I would recommend this book to others if they, too, are looking to improve even if just a little. I really enjoyed reading it and am happy I was able to learn much from it!...more

In the first anSeven Principles for Super-Effective Leadership by George Vasilca starts in such at the base of oneself and then, builds on that base. In the first and second principles the author explains the difference between character and personality. The base is the character inside: The inner self. He uses Jesus as the main example of what makes a great leader. He uses his words to define how, why, and what Jesus did to accomplish hall that he did not just with patience, humility, courage but firmness as well. Another level, another brick laid. He uses verses from the Bible to give credence to his words to show this method works. Jesus led in such a way that it left historical footprints that are still followed today.
In Principles three and four, he explicitly explains a leader should be an expert in their profession and defines what leadership is. Vasilca includes research done by others who have identified the different types of leadership as well as the vast array of social powers they may have used. A servant leader will want to serve first and foremost, and their aspirations are what drive them to continue the climb. A leader will be able to create or encourage human relationships with their peers and between their peers. Again, quoting from the Bible and using researched facts which Vasilca uses in an intelligent manner to bring the viewfinder to a main point: Mutual Advantage, where each party mutually benefits from the relationship that has come forth.
The other principles continue to teach the reader the value of how to serve others while being in this role, how to listen and speak with passion. The author also demonstrates effective cooperation and the need for renewal of oneself. Overall, Vasilca outlines the path of a leader in a highly effective way, using research, examples from the Bible to highlight main points, and even how these things may be achieved. Adding thought provoking questions at the end of each segment was a good way for readers to have discussions and reflect. I would certainly recommend this to everyone....more

Soule takes great care in providing examples to backup this advice and even have keynotes of discussion. The main point across all the chapters is to value the customer as a person, but also to observe what type of customer they are. The author makes several valid points on how to help the businesses while still maintaining the values the employee has decided to choose for themselves.
This is a great book to read if the reader is wanting to familiarize themselves, or get a refresher, with the ever-changing ways one can give great customer service. Ehat I liked the most is that the writing is clear and it reads fast. I would recommend this book....more

When they meet, they find they are drawn to each other, but Aoi has difficulty letting herself be at ease. Why? What could possibly be the issue?
Christian, meanwhile, believes in fate and that Aoi is the one. Circumstances happen and they wake up in each other's bodies. As they go about each other's daily lives, they learn about each other and themselves. This helps them in ways they didn't think could be possible, especially Aoi.
The author does a good job of keeping the issues with Aoi a mystery until a few chapters in, and describes Christian's faith in letting fate determine the outcome with care. Regarding the author's writing style, I found some grammatical and point of view errors. He also switches between past and present and this made the read a bit difficult. All in all, I liked the story but there were some aspects that I did not enjoy about the reading....more
