I had to DNF this one. The prologue was interesting, and I was curious to see how this plot would move as a novella, but even as a novella, I stopped I had to DNF this one. The prologue was interesting, and I was curious to see how this plot would move as a novella, but even as a novella, I stopped because the FMC was, for me, a problem. She stomped her foot like a child when she was upset with the MMC, head butt or slap, or yell at and sneer at the MMC....the MMC whos a demon from a hellscape realm. It made zero sense. Like her 2nd time in life seeing a hellbound figure, and that's how you respond. Even though the FMC was annoying in a "she's a brat and a menace" way, I know some people enjoy those types of FMCs. My biggest reason for stopping is the world building. It felt choppy and chaotic but not in a fun narrative way, just in an inconclusive way. The way the MMC, aka Boogeyman, carried himself was a disappointment as well. Like, dude, you are a demon from maybe hell. Why are you acting like this and accepting this ...more

This slow burn recency romance won't bend any rules. Its a sweet easy follow. The constant references to Mansford Park and Emma were a bit much but no problem. The major conflict lasted the entire book with the sweet courting we love to see towards the end. All in all it was a lovely way to pass the afternoon with well written characters and low spice/heat....more

Good in-between. I wasn't looking for dark dark but needed a contemporary that wasn't sweet or rom-comy. This book popped up as a breeding rec and I'm glad I took a gander. First, the breeding and obsession tropes are well balanced in the story. Neither really feel like check boxes or like over the top just feel tropey but I do wish for more scenes in general. It feels tamer than what I thought I was going to get. This truly is a good stand in if you want a contemporary with a little edge. I wish the Duke was badder, darker but it's ok and the story had great twists and turns. We see the FMC pregnant throughout the story and the watching the MMCs progression from hedonism to obsessed husband was sweet. ...more
Good ending to the series if not a little lacking. The MMC is good. Not as fascinating as Saint or reckless as Gabe but stilAlright, alright, alright
Good ending to the series if not a little lacking. The MMC is good. Not as fascinating as Saint or reckless as Gabe but still satisfying. I also like that no matter the test to her faith the FMC does stick to her guns and that helps give her dimensions and layers. The biggest drawback to the story is how long it takes to set up the romance. We tumble along until 54% and then finally. Except the characters are still separated and not together enough on page until closer to 70% of the story. We spend too much time as readers with them in separate areas, in their thoughts and not working or speaking together or sharing scene. It made their romance feel more meh than fiery. This didn't really feel like a bully romance, moreso the bully mentally bullying himself due to his trauma. And his trauma was extreme so it makes sense. I was ok with the separate journey because I found him fascinating and her trauma was easily guessed but still unrolled in drolls. Again fascinating ending but wished the romance packed more of a punch...more

Or something completely different from the regular and norm. I love Nenia Campbell's work but I consider her a wild card player on the field. I'm never quite sure what I will get. I know it'll be good but I never know what emotional journey I'm going to take along the way. Well...boy was this a treat. First off this should be savored like chocolatier made morsels and fine wine. It's a slow stroll not something to be rushed through. Each story or poem is so different. As always the writing is lyrical, emotive, and engaging. Words jumping off the pages. Brief moments captured as space fairy tales play out....more

I appreciate this story being labeled as women's lit because even though we see Avi fall in love and move on from her married cheating scoundrel ex, she gets star billing here. We begin our tale with the oblivious and in love Avi and watch as the truth comes out...she's the other woman, homewrecker, Mistress and she found out when her ex shows up to the company with his family after ghosting her. We tumble through Avi's serious glow up and all parties involved do get positive Karma while cheater mcCheaterFace gets his just desserts. ...more

My biggest reason for reading Book #3 is my curiosity over Zeke's condition. It was nice seeing a disorder like that represented in a romance book, and Elle Sparrow did a brilliant job of walking the different variations of Zeke. Thalia was mostly a hit and very little a miss. When reading the blurb, I was intrigued to see how they would maneuver a true disciple, not wanting to leave and I must say that I was disappointed in the hard turn the story took to accommodate this point. Don't fret its aligned to what we know about cults, and the couple get their HEA, but it also help like an easy shake to get the outcome they wanted. The book also felt too long but not at the same time. Too much of the story will happen, and then we would get scenes of calling a sibling or friend to discuss it all over again. This slowed down the pacing. Even though the senses and impact play aren't my bag, it was well done as always. I just skipped over pieces. ...more

The author stated this book was my palate cleanser in between the dark romance books. And it feels that way but in a good way. The story is sweet filled with dubious men. Gem quickly let go of her reservations and we watched our dude get the girl. I love how instantly these MMCs are into breeding. If you need a little break from bad bad Villains but want an edge. Give this a try...more

Ricky AK is definitely heartless and a Gangsta. Ms. Latrice has a gift for flow and words. The way she builds up characters is bomb. Loved Ricky AK he was unhinged from go and I love that frantic energy. The only reason this is a 4 over a 5 is because the story involves 3 sets of couples. We start string with Ricky and Dray but it starts to morph into side romances with Bia and even MG. Honestly, those weren't the tropes or arcs I wanted. I just cared about Ricky. That's a personal preference but the story was exciting, raunchy and hot. ...more
