Protectors promise is the story of cami/Deja Fox and her burly bodyguard, Smith. We were briefly introduced to this duo in omegas obsession and I’ve been anticipating their story ever since.
I absolutely loved this story and although it takes place in the same world as OO, and we do get some amazing character crossovers, it stands entirely in its own.
Cami finds herself emotionally and physically exhausted and with some events in her past haunting her and others making her daily life difficult she finds herself relying on her new bodyguard, Smith.
Smith takes this job with a lot of hesitancy. He hasn’t had good experiences in recent times with omegas and he has definitely closed himself off due to those things.
However, when these two come together it’s absolutely beautiful. They have such a realistic dynamic. Smith stands up for Cami in ways you would want your partner to do In real life. He’s protective, sweet, and his mouth should absolutely be illegal. Cami is sweet, spontaneous, and isn’t afraid to break down Smiths walls.
When these two come together, especially after all the sexy tension, it’s like fireworks and that passion never stops. From beginning to end I loved this story. It was emotional, sweet, and absolutely dirty.
I can’t wait to see who’s story is next, but I’m hoping Kelsey because that’s dynamic seems like it’s going to be spicy hot. If you are a fan of Sarah and any of the heat haven books , you’ll definitely want to devour this one.
Be ready to bite the heads off gummies while you dive into this tense and emotional world. You won’t be disappointed. Kudos Sarah! ...more

It goes without saying that just because I did not like it doesn't mean others wont enjoy it, but I STRUGGLED.
I LOVE dark romances and am slowly adding them to my reviews in good reads. I have read some amazing dark bully love that deals with Non-con, dub-con, and pretty much everything you can think of and this book was still too much for me.
I love Omega/Alpha dynamics and am aware that within this subgenre there is a lot of usually intensely written books. I dont need a sweetverse to enjoy alpha/omega dynamics, but I need some redeemable things and this book just lacks in that too much for me.
In terms of writing, the author excelled. This is a well written book with amazing world description and POV you can get into.
What killed this book for me is what I stated above. Usually within a dark romance we find something appealing about our characters, or at least effort to fix the bad things they have done. In the very least, you can usually tell as screwed up as the characters can be that there is actual affection. This book has none of those things. Based on this book alone (this is a series), there is nothing redeemable or likeable about our main Alpha. I thought at one point there was going to be and got very excited...then the author makes the Alpha cheat with his Alpha lover/spouse...like what?? I feel lost after this book.
There were enough triggers and dark aspects to this book that I don't think the cheating was necessary. If the author wanted to write a character everyone would stay hating then she could have kept with the current dialogue..it was already going to be a struggle for him to find redemption I dont think we needed to add to it.
I will give this author another try at some point, but not with this book or series. It seems based on reviews the situation never improves and I cant handle that. I am someone who needs an HEA in their romances.
If you like well written books and characters who may not find redemption paired with steam and struggles this book is for you, but if you are like me and need some good hidden in the dark I would read with caution....more
