But I am torn on this one - maybe because I wouldn't consider it a romance-y type book. I really enjoyed the character development and reading about their stories. But, Jasper's story was heart-wrenching. While it took me a hot minute to get through this book, I actually did like it. The other is Vivi, a Vietnamese- American from California that goes to Vietnam to find the reason her mother left so many years ago. These two young ladies find each other and discover Saigon through each others eyes. They do find a romantic connection with each other, but this was not a book that was big on romance. It was very sweet. As a Vietnamese- American who has only lived in the states and has only been to Vietnam once, I could see the city I saw in the story I was reading. The reference to the city and the market were perfect and had me right back there again! Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for a e-arc of this title. ...more

Not the best book I've ready, but certainly not the worst. I thought the book started off interesting, but then just thought it was a little too slow of a read for my liking. There was so much going on in this book, but it still didn't really hold my attention. Again, it was an okay read. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital arc of this title. ...more

SLenny Marks Gets Away with Murder was an absolute delight to read. Lenny is a character similar to Ove or Eleanor Oliphant, but with her own quirks. She is a teacher that grew up in a foster home, she enjoys Scrabble, and watching Friends. When she tries to make friends with co-workers, she finds that not all of them are as friendly as she thought they would be. Lenny has a past that begins to intrude in her current life, and she finds out that what she remembers might not be completely accurate. Kerryn Mayne did a great job letting the reader get to know Lenny. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital arc of this title. ...more

This book was well written and I thought it read like it was written by one author and not 2 authors sharing information and chapters over a Google drive. It was hard to tell who wrote what. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed reading their stories. The story was intriguing and had me doing a deep dive on the earthquake in San Francisco and traditional Chinese headdresses. However, there were times I thought the story was a tad slow and the ending fell a little flat for me. But I am looking forward to reading other books by both of these authors. ...more

The writing style was a little quirky, and took me a while to enjoy, but I eventually did. The characters were fun and interesting. There were times I wasn't sure where the story was going, but I kept rooting for Margo. Her story of being a single mom and thinking OnlyFans was her only option, opened my eyes to what single mothers may go through. While the book might not be for everyone, I enjoyed it.
