What's best about this book are all of the clever puns and wordplay that occur throughout it, and it would be interesting to see how many my students could pick up on....more
I'm not quite sure what to think of this story, which is a more old-westernized take on the original Princess and the Pea. While the pictures and the story itself are humorous, I don't know what it would be teaching my children; the very idea that a "true" cowboy can be determined by his sensitivity to what's under his saddle, and that this makes him marriage material, borders on the ridiculous. The fact, however, that many may pretend to be something they're not is a lesson that is important to learn. ...more
