While I went in expecting a balance of romance and action, the story leaned heavily toward the action-yet the action itself didn't pick up until around the 60% mark. The first half felt slow and uneventful, which made it difficult to stay engaged. I kept waiting for something substantial to happen, but it took too long to get there.
One thing I did enjoy was the alchemy. I loved reading about him honing his skills. That and Raine's journey away from his father's control and learning to live independently was the only redeeming part of the first half for me, but even that didn't fully make up for the sluggish pacing.
The second half of the book was much stronger, with the action finally taking off and the story becoming more engaging. I found myself getting into the plot at this point, but by then, was hard to overlook the earlier issues.
In the end, while I appreciated the second half and the improvement in the story, I couldn't ignore the fact that the first 60% felt like a chore to get through.

“Honestly, it’d make me feel better. Calmer. I…I have this urge like I have to take care of you, and the idea of not having a nest is, I don’t know. Scary.
This book was perfect for me coz I just read Daughter of Smoke & Bone and was waiting for the second book to be delivered so I was looking for something sweat and swoony to pass the time.
Can we just agree that nesting is so freaking cute? I really loved the heat the nesting and Levy taking care of Alonso, it was really swoony.
I don't really know how I feel about Alonso he was kinda tough to love but I did really loved Levy that man is just so amazing....more

I really loved the beginning and the way Julien and Kier met but there were so many shit happening in this book that didn't make sense like how did Rossi know Randall is Keir’s Alpha, when there is no record of Keir and Rossi wasn’t even told where he came from? I also got a bit bored since there’s a lot of political stuff going on and the romance is overshadowed. Also I hated all the angst surrounding the couple. They couldn't get a breather and almost everyone wanted to kill the omega. I couldn't go past the whole an omega is sacred but somehow they are openly despised....more

"Vieno is my heart’s mate, and Enar is my childhood’s mate, my best friend, but you…you earned my love with your character. It’s impossible not to love you, since your heart is so big. Our foursome wouldn’t function without you.”
“We are four, and we are one, alpha, beta, beta, and omega. Four hearts, one soul. Four bodies, one mind. What we bind together, no man will ever break apart. I am the alpha, and I claim these men for life!”

God complicated doesn't even begin to cover this foursome"s relationship. I loved seeing Enar open up to Palani. I kinda didn't like how Lidon got so jealous whenever Palani and Vieno got intimate since they were all supposed to be mates. It will be interesting to see how the bond between Lidon and Palani is going to develop. This book was spicy as hell but I loved that it had such a captivating plot line. I've already started the second book in the series coz that's just how good it is...more

Thank God am done with this book. This throuple was my least favourite. All the talking bored me to death. I also feel like they forgot about Yitro so much and they tried to explain it by saying Fallon needed more attention but I didn't buy it. Their relationship was mostly about Duer and Fallon. I hated the way Duer only focused on Fallon and forgot about Yitro.
I am sorry to say this but I did not care for Rhene's son. I haven't since they decided Yitro and Rhene would be the legal parents. Only babies I cared for were Riordan, Wilmer and Jermon's hatchlings. The whole Erwan didn't want to be a king thing bothered me so much. I know he felt like it was not his destiny but I wanted him to be king so bad.
“My mate is Rhene Hightower, pack alpha of the Hightower pack and brother-in-law to Lidon Hayes, the True Alpha of his generation. And I?” He took a deep breath. “I am the white dragon.” He shifted, more fluidly than he’d ever done, and stood before them in all his glory. Fuck Cladhaire. Fuck Baoth. Hell, fuck them all. He was the white dragon.
Chills Literal Chills
Only reason I gave this 3.5 stars is for the overarching plot. I can't wait for Adar, Oliver and Delton's book. March Can't come soon enough....more

I Loved this book so much. I loved finding out more about the dragons and their powers. I also loved how they dealt with wilmer's Amnesia and his injuries. I just love this throuple so much more than I thought I would. There were so many jaw dropping moments in this book. There were so many twists and turns, and I loved how the suspense thickened without feeling like it was too much.
“One day, he’ll stand up against his father and make right what was wrong. When the True Alpha rises, so will your son, and he will bring justice and honor and peace, but it will come at a price.”
“We have the white dragon and the True Alpha by our side, not to mention honor and the blessings of the earth and moon,” Rhene said calmly. “That’s all the army we need.”
After reading Kati's review I don't think am gonna read the last two books in this series until the sixth book is released. I am more interested in Adar, Oliver and Delton anyway.
“Same,” Rhene said. “Those two guys deserve all the happiness. Adar has had to wait for a long time, watching his pack mates all get mated. I so want him to find his happily ever after.”...more
