Not even at a single point, I had the feel of reading a boring account of 'How I succeeded?' but almost every year of Mr. Knight's life since 1962 taught me something. All the qualities ranging from self-confidence, perseverance, never-give-up attitude, you name it!
Two important things I could relate very well with Phil Knight's thoughts are the belief in the culture at work (or as he likes to call it, play) and the notion towards the terms business/businessman.
Work Culture is something that's underrated at most of the workplaces but Phil being adamant and careful about preserving the culture in that era is simply WOW.
Though business is business, be it the clients or the employees, the importance of having a connection is very well shown and believed by Phil, which again is not so common everywhere.
To summarize, as I see it, Phil's strong belief in this quote ended up being the real-time success story called Blue Ribbon a.k.a NIKE.
Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.
P.S: Phil's every night six-mile run is tooooo inspiring! I love to run and thinking about trying something similar!...more
