I..... am so sad and empty and i can't imagine how Iris is feeling after ALL of that. I just wanna curl up on the floor and cry for her :(( I loved the layers of depth that all of the characters had. They all had unique personalities that were so lovable. INCLUDING Iris and Roman. I loved the entire story, from start to finish and I can't wait for the second installment!! Ross' writing style had me in a chokehold since the first page. ...more
I have finally come around to rating this book, I finished reading this book over a week ago and have been putting it off for a while. BUT IM HERE NOWI have finally come around to rating this book, I finished reading this book over a week ago and have been putting it off for a while. BUT IM HERE NOW!! The book, for me at least, was really good.
(I am not good AT ALL at being strict with my ratings so I only have 2 modes (maybe 3) 1 star and 5 stars. A book can ~rarely~ land in an in-between realm but usually I really love or absolutely hate a book.) That being said, always take reviews with a grain of salt, just because I love it doesn't mean you will. ANYWAYS, Jameson and Avery in this book were absolutely what I hoped for. I don't know if I've formally said this but I am on team Jameson. Love the way we can see the way his mind works, or rather how Avery understands his mind. This is what keeps me from being on Team Grayson. 'But Emily, Grayson's always brooding in a suit!!' THATS GREAT, but instead of giving him a mysterious-ish persona I think being able to see how he can be genuine would've been beneficial. Does that make sense? No? Well pretend it does ...more

Overall, the book was twisty and turns, EXACTLY how I wanted it to be. The puzzles were giving and the plot made me believe that it would go one way when it ended up taking a completely different path. Good read, I finished the book in about a day and a half.
!!SPOILERS!!
Gonna need a meal to read this one, I came prepared Ok, the book literally starts with a BANG (the fireworks), and it honestly sets the tone for the whole book. The entirety of the book is about her running from feelings with Jameson and Grayson running from Avery. It's honestly kinda funny, buuuut it does make me question what people see in Grayson. No offense his entire personality is brooding in a suit (lol, don't hurt me) BUT it coulda worked if Grayson had actually moved on from Emily. ALSO, I live for book drama and I REALLY wanted more of a love triangle feel to this series and I didn't get any :(( Ever since the first book, it was clear (at least for me) that Jameson was her ride-or-die. He is always there for her, even if he does need to cool down for a little bit, he always comes back and puts her first. (like he can break every bone in my body fr fr) I love the 'On Spake' thing that Grayson and Jameson do AND the taeb nwod (beatdown) that can be done in retaliation is amazing. I might need to write down some notes so I can use this later on with my siblings. Grayson is so cold and calculating, which is honestly great character-wise BUT I would've loved more of him in the book. There was a lot of Avery and Jameson interactions but I was hoping for more Avery/Grayson interactions, maybe that was me being hopeful about a love triangle *womp womp* Even the Grayson kiss on camera was like "OOOOO, tension between Gray and Jamie later??" Then having my dreams ripped away from me. THE HOT TUB SCENE WITH JAMIE THOUGH WAS GIVING FR!! So far I love all of the characters but Xander is my favorite, he's like Golden retriever energy fr. He is a legend, an icon, he is simply HIM. He was so underappreciated in this book and I hated how he was almost treated as an afterthought by Avery and Jameson, but t'is the life of a third wheel. ACTUALLY THATS CRAZY because he chose his team (Bex and Thea) who are also a sorta couple, I think Xander must like being a third wheel ...more

This book was so good and there were moments that I had to stop and say, "I hope I didn't just read what I thought I read." I loved this book so much, hype was definitely warranted, and I love the fandom, the memes I found on Pinterest are amazingly hilarious and accurate. Made the mistake of not buying the second one at the same time, so now I have to wait until I have money to buy it. *melts like the wicked witch* Unfortunately I have to move on to the other book I bought without finishing this duology, but good news it's Cruel Prince by Holly Black so that's a plus, I've heard good things about that one.

My expectations (on a scale of 15) were at a 13 when I read the blurb, then went down to a 9 when I read the reviews, then I started and finished the book and the puzzles (at least for me) were really good and didn't disappoint, of course I still expected more at a certain point (will talk about that in a second) but otherwise, loved the book.
!!SPOILERS!!
OKAY let's get into it, the book was really good and didn't disappoint. I expected more puzzles when they all believed that they had solved it. It made me think 'ALL OF THAT BS JUST FOR HAWTHORNE TO SAY, "HAHAHA, YOU GOT LUCKY FOR BEING BORN ON 10/18 LOL, SORRY." then I was pleasantly surprised because if it had ended there, let's just say my rating would've lost 2 stars ...more

The emotional rollercoaster that myThis is an amazingly written sequel to Legendborn! I love this series so much and I can't wait for the third book. The emotional rollercoaster that my heart and brain went on when I read this is so amazinggg! I love that this book is similar to others I love (for example Hunger Games and Divergent)
!!SPOILERS!!!
The book is similar to other but stays unique to the Arthurian legend it is showing. I say similar to Hunger Games because of the hunt that the Mage Guard goes on for Nick and how they plan to kill him instead of rescue him from his father and his Kingsmage. I also see similarities between Divergent and this series because they hold Bree captive and plan to test on her just as they did to Tris in (I believe) the second book in the Divergent series. I love both series as well as Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Lore (standalone Novel), The Darkest Mind series and THIS book is up there with these greats in my opinion.
THE TENSION BETWEEN SEL AND BREE IS AHHHHHHH!!! I know that her heart is conflicted because of Nick and Sel BUT I am a sucker for tall, dark, and handsome ESPECIALLY if he has a-hole qualities (toxic I know hehe) AND THE KISS THEY SHARE IS UGHHHHH. But this raises a few questions for me, does Sel feel this way about her because Nick feels it? Probably not, but I still think this is a valid question. ALSO, can Nick feel that Sel feels this strongly for Bree??? He never brought it up so I don't think so but (again) it was worth asking.
ALSO WILLIAM AND LARK IS SO ADORABLEEEE. PLEASE don't let any harm befall William I AM BEGGING, he's like Bree's big brother and he has so much pain that he still hasn't dealt with like The Agony :( Alice also better wake upppppp form her coma because COME ON, Bree would feel so bad if she doesn't wake up and it would feel so incomplete without her :(( This book was so good I devoured the whole book in 2 days and my mom said it wasn't possible HAHAHA edit: I FORGOT TO ADD that I HATE Tor, she may think that she has her reasons all figured out, but they're the wrong reasons. I am so glad that Sarah finally brought the Morgaines in to intervene and that it hurt Tor. ( I swear I am not always this cruel...more

LET ME JUST TELL YOU GUYS, this entire book had me on the edge of my seat. I was always incredibly eager to find out what twists or puzzle pieces the next page held. Never was I once bored with this book. The descriptions were so well written without going overboard and losing me in the amount of detail. I will LOVE this for the rest of my life. I would definitely watch a movie adaptation. !!!This is all my opinion, I am not responsible if you hate this masterpiece!!! ...more
