One of the things that I really loved about this is that the characters resolve all their conflicts by talking about the issues very quickly and maturely. It's perhaps unbelievable that 18 year olds would have such a good handle on communication skills, but I think it's probably really helpful to model the kinds of conflict resolution conversations that adults have. I think the characters and their relationships are really believable, and the scene in which Josie breaks up with her first boyfriend is poignant and completely true to that experience. While she is never labeled as such, I think readers who lie on the autism spectrum will be able to identify with Josie and her experiences navigating life, and I appreciate that the heroine here isn't perfect or even particularly likeable all the time. ...more
