I love that Patience is fat and looks fat and her body moves the way a fat body does, like my breath caught when she was drawn laying on her back with her boobs spreading out towards her armpits, and I loved it.
Descriptions call it "erotic" but only because the sex scenes are illustrated; there's nothing racier here than a standard steamy historical romance. ...more

(I'm currently reserving a 5 star "I loved it!!" review, but there's a possibility I might change it after reading more Bridgerton.)

I finally broke down and bought the digital versions for my tablet, and wow is it a nice reading experience, especially with the magazine issue, so I could zoom in on the text.
I really enjoyed the magazine issue, and I would love to read all the roleplay interview transcripts between the Gillen and the other authors.

I typically choose books based on recommendations from people I admire/trust, cute covers, and having read previous books by an author.
So let me tell you how surprised I was when this fun rom-com OPENS with the DEATH OF THE MAIN CHARACTER'S FIANCE. This is NOT AT ALL what I thought I was getting myself in for! It was still a really lovely read, and I greatly admire Lydia's strength of will to not spend ALL.HER.TIME. in the dream world where her fiance didn't die. (Me telling my husband about this book: Me: She takes a pill and goes to an alternate world where he's still alive. Him: WELL, THAT'S NO GOOD.)
If you're interested in reading a book about grief and healing with a bit of romance thrown in, this is a great option! Once I got past the shock of the fiance's death, I got very sucked into the story and stayed up too late reading it. The writing is wonderful, and I enjoyed the characters and the way they love and support Lydia. But perhaps avoid it if you were looking for something light and fluffy....more
