I absolutely LOVE this “world” Ms. Reus has created. And I hate that we only get it during the holidays. This is the type of rom-com I adore because it’s cute, fun, steamy, and has an edge of danger and suspense to it. It’s never over the top silly or so dark I feel like I’m suddenly in another story and I appreciate the balance she gives us.

This is filled with characters that had me smiling and antics that made me giggle. The relationship between Aileen and Dante was sweet even as things started steaming up between them. The possessiveness Dante felt as Aileen is stretching her wings got me in my alpha loving feels. I want so much more of not only this couple but of all the hitmen in the neighborhood.

Mack and Anna’s story pulled me in, and holy heck, it kept me hanging on to every single word on the page. This is rich with so much emotion while submerging me into the harsh realities of living in a post apocalyptic world. The world building feels real, the characters are relatable and the chemistry/steam of these two together was unlike anything I’ve read from this author before. It is layered with danger, laced with angst, and filled with warmth and humanity.

With a hero and heroine that both work in dangerous fields, they reconnect as they try to find the bad guy, work out their own issues, and give in to the smexy urgings that have never gone away.
I loved that Carson was protective without ever crossing the line. I was concerned Sienna might end up being too tough for more liking but she was perfect. She knew when she needed help and never did the “too stupid” heroine things. Both were wonderful characters, strong, fierce, loyal and totally likable.
A perfect read for a quick break with plenty of action and lots of steam.

She proves it once more with Jinx and Ali. Ali was such a unique heroine with her background and career, she was perfect for Jinx.
As always, this hero fits into everything I love about the main character. Protective, possessive, jealous when the occasion arises and determined to make and keep her as his own.
”I am a f---ing lying bas--rd, you know that - but I am a bas--rd who is loyal to you. If it means you are protected, I will lie, steal, cheat, or kill in an instant.”
He’s also more than he appears on the surface. Getting to know the real Jinx was a journey only one woman could travel and even then he had a bit of a struggle. I loved every part of him.
This is one scorching thrill ride with twists and turns that kept me engaged each step of the way. If this is what it’s like to get jinxed, then sign me up...I need to be Jinxed!
Getting more from the Trouble for Hire group added moments that had me grinning from ear to ear. And we also meet Jinx’s brother Ramsey. His story is next and I suspect we’re going to have a whole lot of alpha overload with him and his lady. I can’t wait!
This can be read as a standalone although all the Trouble guys are worth checking out.

Lisa wasAnother wonderful read by Ms. Barker with characters that I instantly fell in love with and a storyline that kept me turning the pages!
Lisa was one tough heroine with a heart of gold and a need to take care of those around her. She struggles accepting help from others but when Brick, after two years, has had enough of her stubborn ways, forces his assistance on her she begins to open herself up to not only love but to new, stronger friendships. Watching that change was sweet and I respected the heck out of her as she dealt with all the twists that life had dealt her.
Brick was exactly as I had hoped he would be. He’s protective, possessive, and very much aware of the beauty that he has in his life with Lisa and the kids. Then again, this author always gives me heroes that I crave. Knowing Brick was celibate throughout the years he was waiting on Lisa made me love him all the more.
This was a relatively fast read with the angst and drama arising from outside the relationship between Brick and Lisa. Watching them make what they had with all the children was beautiful even as they fought against the danger that laid outside their door. I can’t get enough of this group of characters created in this world and I’m super excited to see what’s happening next!

Amy hI have never smiled as much as I did while reading Alicia Hunter Pace’s, Face Off: Emile. This is the perfect feel good book with a perfect hero.
Amy has been abandoned with nothing but the clothes on her back, a phone that won’t work, credit and debit cards that are worthless, and $84.38. She’s worried, alone and confused. Emile is just the kind of guy to stop and help a distressed female, especially since the parking space in front of her is available. He’s a rescuer and he sets out to right the wrongs that have been dealt to her.
Amy is definitely broken and struggling to find her way as well as building up resistance against anything that might take away her independence again. Emile knew that he had been searching for his happy ever after but despite a few good women in his life he had yet to find it. He begins to see that in Amy.
I absolutely loved Emile! So many heroes are described as being charming and sweet but Emile is the pure definition of the words. He is French Canadian and speaks with a stilted formal accent that just about pushed me over the edge of never coming out of this book again. He often confused his idioms which just endeared him to me more. However, despite being all of that, at the heart of him is his desire not only for Amy, but to protect her and bring her away from the hurt and mistrust she experienced from her ex.
I was already deeply in love with this hero but when I reached the end and he presented his “grand gesture” I wanted to laugh and cry and throw my arms around him. I’ve never read such an incredibly heart felt declaration.
Ladies, do not dally. Get to one clicking.
ARC provided through NetGalley and gosh dang it I’m so glad I got one!
Dual POV Safe Possible Triggers – some abuse off page that is mentioned Push and pull - some but completely understandable considering what she has gone through

I’ve been impatient to get Yanis’ story and was so excited when I finally had it in my hands. Wow, he was just as incredible as I knew he would be. With protective instincts that totally ring my bell, he was always careful not to overstep with Bree as she was more than capable of protecting herself. However, this has lots of opportunities for him to take care of her which fed even more of my alpha loving heart.
Bree was a tough, independent heroine that was able to take care of herself in pretty much any situation. I worried that she might be too tough for my liking. The kind of tough that would make her feel unapproachable and difficult to relate to. Not so. She had a soft heart that had been injured but she was willing to work to get past her issues. Because Yanis respected her talents, she never had to battle him to have her way. There were no too stupid to live moments for this heroine.
This is a fast paced story filled with so much action, danger and drama. This mystery is interlaced with events from previous books in the series so it might be best to read them first. However, it would not be difficult to follow along if you have not. The plot intricately weaves itself around the past even as it pulls the reader into a new situation that is rife with danger. One by one things were gradually revealed leaving me glued to my Kindle.

Ms. Eastlake does a great job of both male and female voices which is where I usually have a problem. However, she pulls both off with amazing talent as well as adding more depth to a story I had previously read.
Another awesome installment in this series. Filled with action and suspense with plenty of steamy goodness and some romance to round it all out.
I loved Lucy and her desire to help in what she believes to be a case of sexual trafficking. She grew up a bit broken but still taken care of. When Leighton enters her life she is attracted to him but knows it can’t be more than a temporary thing. Unfortunately, she learns some disturbing news and her world as she has always known it implodes.
Leighton is struggling with memories from his time in the Marines. His work has him crossing paths with Lucy and he’s unsure where she stands within her uncle’s organization. There are clues along the way but when he finally meets her and can sense her desire to help a woman in need he realizes that she’s an innocent among the wolves.
This has a few triggers you might want to check out if something bothers you. It’s a fast read with a good look at all the characters we’ve met along the way, although I believe it can be read as a standalone. The steam is intense and the chemistry between the hero and heroine, while not the center of the story, was still believable. However, I would’ve liked to seen them as a couple more. The case they are working on was well developed and I enjoyed watching everything unfold in both that and between Leighton and Lucy.
This ends with a sweet epilogue and a deleted scene that I appreciated having access to as it definitely shows a bit more of Leighton and what he has faced in the past. Overall, while not my favorite of the series, it was still a very good read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

We met Layla in a previous book after she had witnessed her fiancée kill a man. Now she has moved to Redemption Harbor and is trying to settle down. After meeting Xavier they have become friends and while she feels things she normally doesn’t feel for a friend, she’s aware that he doesn’t share those same desires. But after a night out with another man, Xavier confronts her and holy heck, it was spectacular…until she woke up the next morning.
Xavier lives a life that doesn’t allow room for close relationships. Despite that hard and fast rule, he’s drawn to Layla, too much so. He struggles with his feelings until he finds her on a date with another man. It’s all he can take and he makes his move. While it’s the most amazing night of his life, he knows he can’t bring her any further into his life. Not only does his present and past cause potential danger for her, she’s simply too good for him.
There’s a lot of push and pull here, mostly that of Xavier. And I felt it was justified. But even as he’s pushing her away, Layla’s broken past rises up to taunt her with dark memories of not being worthy. When she finds herself in danger, Xavier steps in immediately to protect her. What follows is an action packed, emotionally filled story as they struggle to find a place where they can face each other head on and confront their feelings.
“She was already under his skin and he wanted to be under hers. Because he would take her with him wherever he went. She would live inside him.”
I loved how Xavier was so protective over Layla and wanted only what was best for her despite the fact that meant he would not be in her life. Add in the fact that Layla was strong enough to let him know exactly how she felt about his decisions as well as accepting what he did for a living made for a very enjoyable read.
All of the previous characters from Redemption make an appearance here helping this couple along not only with their special talents but with their friendship. This had a few surprises and no stupid decisions by the heroine, which I appreciated. The steam and chemistry between Layla and Xavier was evident form the very beginning and only accelerated each time they were together.
With a wonderful epilogue that brought us back full circle to the beginning of this series I’m recommending this to everyone who enjoys full on protective alpha heroes and the strong, kick a$$ women who own their hearts.

Lissie has spent her whole life trying to live up to her family’s expectations and always falling short. With the opportunity to move to Durango offers itself, she jumps on the chance for a couple of reasons. However, she wasn’t counting on an attraction to her big bulky biker landlord. When they learn what all they have in common, the door is open for something more and Lissie doesn’t hesitate to take the first gentle step through.
”Because you could easily become my next addiction, Lissie”
I adored Lissie. She was one tough cop but had a softness to her that called out to Yuma, even as he was attracted to that dark edge she held within that matched his own. Knowing exactly what to say and do, she was more than capable of crashing through the walls he had built around him.
Yuma is the perfect burly hero, wounded and in so much need of acceptance and love. He made a few bad judgments with Lissie but he more than made up for them and she was just the type to know when to yield in the face of his pain. With a pretty strong possessive streak and some fun “knock them upside their head” jealous moments, he proves himself to be another great hero designed by this author.
”Yuma…” she breathes when I shut the door behind me and crowd her against the hallway closet. “James,” I correct her, my nose almost touching hers. “My name is James Wells. Yuma to the outside, but with you I want to just be me.”
As so many other books by Ms. Barker, this has a plot that isn’t singular. She worked her magic interweaving one plot into the next until I didn’t have a clue where I was going to end up. I love that she can do that every single time.
With some drama, a bit of relationship angst, and a tad of humor, this book kept me engaged from beginning to end. And just when I thought I was going to survive this without tears, I realized I was wrong. I love when I can be surprised by something so heartwarming that it makes me cry. As for the steam level, this is Hot! Everything between Lissie and Yuma feels organic and that more than includes their chemistry.
Overall, this was an AMAZING read that only leaves me wanting more of not only Lissie and Yuma, but that of the next couple coming up. Fingers crossed it’s who I think it is!

It is his hope that the move will bring his daughter emotional healing. Unfortunately, there are still issues she must deal with and Newt is lost as to how to help her.
Freddy is a teen counselor that uses her dog as an instrument to reach her patients. She first meets Millie at the high school and recognizes that the girl is hurting but that she has an instant affinity for Freddy’s service dog. When she takes on a new patient at her clinic, she is shocked to learn it is Millie and that she is the daughter of the man she has had a few run in’s with lately. None of them pleasant expect for the piercing eyes that seem to see through her.
I enjoyed all of these characters as this story is not just about the hero and heroine but includes Millie to the hundredth degree. Newt was such an amazing dad. He was strong and protective and yet knew when to draw the line even as he was able to share his soft side with both Millie and Freddy.
Freddy was an incredible heroine. Her past included so much loss over a short amount of time that it was a miracle she was still standing. The love she shared with those around her made her shine as did the care and attention she gave to her menagerie of animals. Freddy was the type of character you wish you had for a friend.
Millie was portrayed in the perfect teenage angsty light. Even as she begins to grow from her wounded soul, she never completely loses the fact that she’s fifteen and all teenager. I loved the strength she slowly gained and then eventually latched hold of and used to form her into the woman she would one day become.
This was a slow burn romance that covered the pain of loss and the methods that some teens deal with their loss of control and how the adults around them handle those issues. The first portion of the book was very slow but definitely lays the groundwork for character development. However, there was plenty of drama toward the last 25% and the epilogue was enough to bring tears to my eyes.
Overall, this was a heartwarming read that left me feeling satisfied at its conclusion.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dual POV Safe (view spoiler)[although there is a woman that wants to land the H, it is just a few scenes and it does not cause drama – she is actually a friend of the h and once she learns they are together she steps away; om from h’s past plays a large role in the story but not as a love interest although they both have a conversation about what happened between them years ago – H is aware of their past and actually becomes friends with the om (hide spoiler)] Triggers (view spoiler)[attempted rape; kidnapping; cancer; child neglect/abuse (hide spoiler)]

Newt moves his daughter, Millie, to a small town hoping to put the past and all its pain behind them.

He was such a gooThese Bradford boys have completely stolen my heart but I do believe that Zane has burrowed in and made a special place for himself. He was such a good guy who had experienced some really awful turns of events. His loss and pain felt palpable to me, making me hurt for him. Despite his inner battles, he exhibited the kindest heart when it came to Rachel’s brother and if I hadn’t already fallen in love with him, I was a goner from that moment on.
Of course Rachel was just as wonderful. Her dedication to her brother resonated with me and I loved their interactions together. She was the perfect woman to bring Zane out of the darkness as she shined her light on everyone around her.
And talk about steamy! The Way We Play is like adding a new song to your playlist except what Rachel and Zane do will add fuel to your fantasies. Who knew such a thing existed?! They set the pages of my kindle on fire to the point I had to make sure no one around me was aware of the scene I was reading at the time.

While this is part of a series of books, the story can stand all on its own. I can’t recommend it enough as it gave me everything and more that I can ever look for in romance.

Patience was a heroine I liked immediately. As this is written primarily from her point of view, it was easy to connect with her. When Brodie confronts her at one point, she didn’t hesitate to let him have it, and I love that she was confident enough to do so in the face of a man many would find intimidating.
While we didn’t get a lot of Brodie, there was enough there to understand that he liked what he saw in Patience. He’s definitely got that protective alpha hero vibe going which is always a win in my opinion. Watching him pay the price after making a colossal mistake was pretty fun.
Although this was not heavy in drama, it still had plenty of mystery and suspense driving the story forward. The chemistry between Patience and Brodie was clearly evident, but their relationship really didn’t have enough time or opportunity to take off until the end. This is a fast, short read perfect for a quick break or something between longer reads.

I have become a huge fan of Ms. Waters and this book, like her previous works, is fresh and original. The storyline kept me engaged and I could not turn the pages fast enough. Everything about this pulled me in. There is just something about the way this author writes that I find highly addictive and Christmas is All Around is another example of the magic she wields.

Nella is the type of heroine that I really enjoy. I love the clumsy, always getting into some kind of situation, heroine that is fierce, protective and loyal to a fault. Despite her tendency to find trouble, she’s smart and it’s the fact that she’s outside her comfort zone that results in all the trouble she stumbles into.
Fletch was fun to watch as he attempts to deal with Nella and put thoughts of her out of his mind. I love when a hero is in this position and watching when the switch flips and he realizes he’s been a real jerk and sets out to correct his rude behavior. He is definitely alpha, all the way and often makes decisions and takes action without Nella’s input. The fact she is more than capable of dealing with him in those moments makes this couple all the more entertaining.
This starts off fast and never falters. The mystery was unique and there are things that happened that had me totally engaged and refusing to set this aside. I really enjoyed the way this story unveiled itself in such an organic manner. The steam level is intense between Nella and Fletch and the ending was PERFECT!!! I couldn’t ask for a better future for this couple.

Eve’s character was strong but had a softness to her. She was able to endure but also able to do what was required to help Cain and battle their way to their happy ever after. I loved how she was determined to help Subject Thirteen despite being afraid of him.
Cain was definitely a bit frightful before I got to know him. His abilities were startling and had me flying through the pages to learn everything. The fact that he claimed Eve as his own and was determined to protect her above all else had me swooning with delight. But oh my, when it came to the end…he leaped onto my list of favorite heroes.
This couple shows the reason I read romance. Watching them work around their issues, which included battling some seriously bad, bad guys, kept me enthralled from beginning to end. Add in all the action, drama and danger as well as enough angst to have me tearing up, and this book is perfect!

This is a novella but it feels like so much more, mainly due to the fact Kathryn and Daniel had been in a relationship prior to the beginning of this story. That carries a lot of weight and validates their emotions and responses.
I loved the way Daniel had perceived his relationship with Kathryn the first time around as well as his reactions to her when they were reunited a few months later. Any hero that is possessive, jealous and above all, protective, is a hero I will always recommend. Add in some smexy moves and all my check-boxes have been marked.
While this is primarily about the relationship between Kathryn and Daniel, it has its standard Katie Reus suspense and mystery threaded throughout it making it even more of a page turner. I gobbled this down in one sitting and was immediately hungry for the rest of the series.
With action and drama sprinkled throughout, secondary characters I can’t wait to get more of and the sizzling chemistry with this couple, I highly recommend this!

However, the accidental pregnancy is one of my favorite tropes . It was absolutely delicious when it involved Pippa and Sully. While they are still older, I loved watching them deal with the surprise and then the journey through pregnancy. The fact that that time is layered with danger and accusations made it all the more wonderful.

Pippa was a tough as nails heroine but she had moments of softness that made me love her. Her process through the pregnancy had me loving her all the more as it’s a storyline I adore.

Sully was amazing with all his delicious alphaness, especially when you add a forthcoming baby into the mix. Again adding to that storyline I can’t get enough of. Their initial conflict was believable and watching them come together was everything I love.

This was filled with lots of drama as they work to solve a serious problem that Pippa is facing. There is a wealth of wonderful characters included, all making this not only a bit more dramatic at times, but fun as well. I loved seeing past characters and regardless of the fact I just finished this one, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next.

I love the feeling of danger that lingers at the edges of this story with each turn of the page. I never know what to expect or when something alarming and terrifying is going to happen. Which of course keeps me turning the pages. When you add in that Laurel is a character unlike any I’ve read before I have found myself totally addicted.

This storyline, at times, gave me creepy crawlies…and it was awesome! While this book gives us a resolution to these murders, there are still issues to be dealt with and I just know Abigail is going to show us what she’s really made of at some point. The fact that I don’t know where, when or how keeps me on edge constantly. Mrs. Zanetti is a master at romantic suspense and I’m for the ride til the very end!
Well that was unexpected! This story had so many twisty sidelines that felt blatantly misleading, I really thought I knew where this story was going. Well that was unexpected! This story had so many twisty sidelines that felt blatantly misleading, I really thought I knew where this story was going. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Lake of Lost Girls really pulled me in. The dual points of view along with the transcript of an ongoing podcast kept me engaged from beginning to end. Each flip from one to the other was clearly defined. I have to admit that as a true crime junkie, the addition of the podcast and the survivor’s response to it gave me a different perspective than one I’d ever thought of before.

I really enjoyed this book and found myself feeling a little on edge at times and had to remind myself it was just a book. The characters were all well developed and while I wasn’t a huge fan of most of them, I felt connected to those that mattered. Definitely one I’d recommend to anyone who could enjoy a fictional story written to give it the feel of a true crime drama.
