I listen to this in the free hour before work got going and holy hell was this a wild ride. I forgot how hypnotic romance books are and really enjoyed this, the male narrator sucked at doing a female voice but i'm chaotic and listen at 3x speed so it was laughable at best. I really enjoyed this and will probably continue through these books as they're available. i also made me crave cupcakes so there's that.

(10.25.19)- Uhm this wasn’t as spooky as I initially hoped and wanted but it did give me the fucking creeps!! -----------------------------------------(10.25.19)- Uhm this wasn’t as spooky as I initially hoped and wanted but it did give me the fucking creeps!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------for the prompt: book with a creepy cover on insta!
Despite how freaking creeping and on edge this story made me i slowly started to not like the main character she grew tremendously broody and i was hoping for a little more, as usual. Idk what i’m looking for...more spoop probably. But also maybe more creepy and skin crawling vibes? I have no idea. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable read and i am super glad like with more of these books for my spooky reads they have left me near or pretty shook.
“I knew I earned this tourture, and I wanted it to purify me. Over and over, the thought that pulsed through my mind were yes and more. I wanted to be taken apart completely”
I really loved how this book started off, i was drawn in thinking ‘O yiss this is gonna start peppy then it’s gonna spoop me out!’ sadly it didn’t but it did hold my attention and had me guessing if something would come. I liked that it was a POC which i haven’t really read in capacity in which they aren’t being used negatively in some way it was hella refreshing honestly.the shift took a while to really get invested and when i did it was mostly being angry a few maybe even more characters within the story.
(view spoiler)[ “I was floating at least a couple of feet over my bed. I just froze as terror seeped into every cell of my body.”
YO FINALLY SOME CREEPY ASS FLOATING GOODNESS AND AN EXORCISM in which the main character possibly keeps from truly being successful and had me going ????? why did you feel the need to keep going through this creepy ass shit? It’s not healthy to suddenly sneeze nails or cough up a sea shell. I was pretty confused and found the idea of using the chicken as a vessel pretty wild. But i know nothing of horror/supernatural things like this so *shrug*
“I had to leave the room after that. I had no idea what she might do next. I just thought, this isn’t a situation for the police. This girl needs a priest.”
I mean if the police officer in his reports says the child is probably possessed by a demon and can throw a grown ass man across the room then by jove she must be a monster! But in all honestly i found the files and things to be hilarious and slightly aggravating so i mean good job book. (hide spoiler)]
ALSO THE ENDING LIKE EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?!?!?!!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
Is this allowed? i’m honestly a little shook....more

Listen, i’m still not sure about what i read but i know faeries, wild ass politics between the seelie and unseelie courts and that just seems the norm in these fantasy books. Uhm i will say that i kinda felt the pacing was sort of off, a few things felt pushed around to suit the plot and it kinda left me wanting a touch more. Which i guess would lead me to wanting to probably continue with this series honestly.
To be really honest i found this be incredibly cheesy, wild, interesting and the only person i really sort of liked was Robin….however you spell it because it was switching between the spelling. He is probably the main reason why i think i want to continue. When you meet him he seems the most fleshed out and Kaye. my lord KAYE she made me angry and flustered because she was just like really dumb?! I think i also really liked Corny. I FUCKING HATED his nickname but i stan him and Robin boom. Reasons to carry on. Sometimes i have no chill and have to find important characters to keep me going.
