The grouThere’s no comparison when it comes to witty, engaging banter. Hunter isn’t just the best; she manages to outdo herself with each release. The group chat conversations added a whole new level of banter to the story, bringing a much-needed smile to my face.
Delayed Penalty had me laughing out loud within the first few pages, and it only got better from there. Not only are there tons of laughs, but you get a front-row seat as Hayes, Quinn, and Flora become better versions of themselves.
Quinn was a bit of a mess, but in a way that made her character especially relatable. She was human; she made mistakes, changed her mind, and was still trying to figure out who she was and what she wanted to do with her life. She was sassy sunshine with a good heart that seemed to be overlooked by those who should have nourished her spirit. I loved that with Hayes she was fiery, and with Flora, she was soft and gentle.
Hayes was the perfect combination of cocky athlete, ovary-exploding uncle, and dirty-talking hottie. I adored seeing him embrace his role as Flora’s guardian. Watching the three of them find their way, not only as individuals but as a team, melted my heart. They were a bit lost until they found their way to one another; they fit together seamlessly in a way that allowed them not only to flourish but to thrive.
The connection between characters was a little different than “normal.” Not only did Quinn and Hayes share an undeniable connection, but Flora and Quinn instantly shared a special bond. Quinn and Hayes were steaming up the pages before they ever even touched one another. For as hard as they tried to keep their distance, it was only a matter of time before the rules they made went out the window along with their clothes.
Flora and Quinn’s connection stole my heart. They may not have recognized it at first, but it was undoubtedly love at first sight. They may not have been mother and daughter by blood, but their hearts knew the moment they met. The easy dynamic between them also allowed Flora and Hayes to find their stride. The more Flora came out of her shell, the more she melted my heart. She is the essence of the word “heartwarming”; this sweet girl could melt even the coldest hearts.
My emotions were completely tangled up in this fictional world from the start. The raw talent that Hunter possesses is nothing short of extraordinary. Her words have the power to make the world around you disappear; everything you see and feel is from the “power of the pen.” It’s a fictional world that feels like home, with a group of people who encompass you with the love of family they share. You aren’t a spectator; you’re a part of the story.
Delayed Penalty is an unputdownable, forced proximity, nanny, hockey romance that will no doubt become a new favorite. Hayes, Quinn, and Flora’s story was everything I didn’t know I needed. Monumentally epic banter, laughs that soothe the soul, a few tears to heal your hurt, and the unyielding love of this slightly insane found family will stay with you long after you reach the end. My heart is full and my head feels lighter; how can you possibly thank an author for giving you that level of peace?
I need an entire book with texting conversations between Hunter’s characters. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard at “your mom” jokes since the '90s. ...more

The reformed playboy, pushing his brothers aside to claim the top spot as the “Plain Daisy Ranch” swooniest book boyfriend—what more could you want? You never saw Emmett Noughton coming; he’s about to steal hearts around the world.“
As always, this duo plucked me from reality within the first few pages, and for hours I was lost inside a world with swoony cowboys and the sassy women who bring them to their knees. My heart and head feel lighter than they have in weeks; this story and these characters were truly a refreshing escape from all of my real-life worries.
Blair is back in her hometown after having her life turned upside down. She’s trying to start over, and the last thing she needs is the attention of her high school crush. They end up as roommates, much to the dismay of others. She soon realizes that her idea of who Emmett is was skewed, and it’s going to be harder than she thought to keep her distance from the man everyone has warned her about. She needs someone in her corner, and the more time she and Emmett spend together, the more her words become less vicious and more playful.
Emmett is the youngest Noughton, and it seems that nobody has ever taken the time to see more in him than what’s on the surface—not even his older brothers. He is the charming, witty, and always-ready-to-make-others-laugh guy that everyone sees, but he’s so much more than that. He has an idea that could add some fun new business he’s passionate about, yet it seems that the only person willing to listen is the woman he didn’t see coming.
The “will they or won’t they” tension was palpable the moment Emmett and Blair were around one another, and once they broke through a few barriers, their chemistry became uncontrollable and soul-consuming. They were a team, true partners in every sense of the word. The moment they crossed the line, they were open and honest with one another, and it was delightfully refreshing. Through each stage of their relationship, the banter between them was engaging and at times made me giggle like a loon.
I truly believe this story was exactly what I needed today. While the story and characters pull at your emotions and might have had me wishing I could toss out a fictional punch, it’s not overly angsty. There were moments I had tears in my eyes, but they were “happy” tears. The pace of the story kept me from contemplating not reading it in one sitting, and I can’t even express how much I needed the break from reality. Authors are real-life superheroes, offering overwhelmed bookish girls like me a reprieve from reality, one book at a time.
The One I Didn’t See Coming is a quintessential small-town romance with a swoony blue-collar hero and a sassy heroine, teeming with “will they or won’t they” close-proximity tension, clever dialogue, and sprinkles of feels. The Noughton family and this small ranching town have me completely enamored, and I can’t wait for book 4 in the Plain Daisy Ranch series....more

These brand-new characters will take your breath away. I’m already counting down the days until Kieran’s book and hoping we get more of Lorelei’s brothers.
By His Rule is a captivating “will they or won’t they” slow burn to the nth degree.I was utterly captivated within the first few lines.
Both their obvious connection and the intensity of their hate were palpable. Despite their best efforts, nothing or no one could stop what was about to happen, no matter how hard either of them tried. It was fate, with a small helping hand from a jealous, possessive hero who would let her go but would always be close behind.
Strong, independent, and full of sass, Lorelei was my favorite kind of heroine—her sass is amplified whenever Kian is around. I was enamored with the intense love she had for her brothers; it was not enough for her to start over and pursue her own goals; she would stop at nothing to ensure that her brothers had the best opportunity at success. I think my adoration of characters like Lorelei is because they remind me of my own older sister. There’s something to be said about someone who is willing to step in when those who should yet don’t. Because Lorelei carried the burden of her brothers' and her own worlds on her shoulders, she was afraid of the intense intensity she sensed whenever Kian was around.
Kian was a playboy billionaire, but that was only on the surface. He was so much more than that, and all the things that frustrated Lorelei the most were some of the reasons he was so perfect for her. He’s arrogant, and when he sets his sights on something, there’s no stopping him until he has it in his grasp. For the first time ever, he has his sights set on a woman who doesn’t care about his wealth or last name. Lorelei wants nothing to do with him. Her unexpected reactions might be part of what sparked his intrigue, but it doesn’t take long for him to realize that he’s met his match in more ways than one.
The chemistry between Kian and Lorelei was uncontainable. They were opposites in almost every way, and those were the very things that added fuel to their already burning desire for one another. Lorelei was sassy and stubborn, and he was protective, possessive alpha hotness with a swooniness she couldn’t ignore. She didn’t care about his money or his last name, and he offered her a sense of safety and devotion that she’d never known before.
By His Rule is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The magnetic intensity of Kian and Lorelei’s opposites—attract, billionaire, workplace romance—will have your eyes glued to your Kindle until you devour every single word. If you love the tension that comes from a “will they or won’t they” slow burn where not only does he fall first, but if there was an award for jealous, possessive, dirty-talking book boyfriends, Kian Callahan would win hands down. How am I supposed to just go back to reality after this epic escape? ...more

If you love mafia romance, ‘enemies to lovers’, angst, forced proximity, suspense, and found family... one-click Ciao Bella and come back and thank me!!
It’s so much more than I could have imagined. In a word, it’s brilliant. The best book I’ve read all year. A top-three favorite in the Eagle Elite world. The magic that was part of the original series becomes more intense with every book. The introduction to this brand-new series set inside the Eagle Elite world is no exception—yet it’s completely different. It’s RVD mafia to the nth degree. When it comes to kicking off a new series, ‘Ciao Bella’ is beyond compare. It was epic in every way: tears falling, lives ruined, blood shed, laughter, and above all, the love and loyalty intricately woven into every character. The Eagle Elite is so much more than a mafia family; they are ALL family. (One sentence of this is a variation on a Veronica Mars quote.)
As soon as I opened ‘Ciao Bella,’ it felt like going home, and what could possibly feel more like the comfort of home than a family dinner, mafia style? The tumultuous hate and underlying love between Ivan and Bella added fuel to their fiery chemistry. The passionate way they fought over the years, and then being in forced proximity, became a slow burn of literary edging proportions.
I adored Bella. She’s completely different from her sister. It was as though she saw everyone else’s strengths while not seeing her own. She’s the youngest and Nixon’s baby. As the baby of my family, I can say that sometimes comes with being babied far beyond the baby stage. When others are always there to hold you up, you don’t always recognize your own strength. Ivan not only saw it; he nourished it. He helped her build an arsenal so she had the knowledge to be her own hero. After all, how could a De Lange be anything but a villain?
Ivan had so many layers, and each one was more complicated than the last. The way he ended up alongside some of the most notorious members of the Cosa Nostra left niggling thoughts in the back of his mind that he would never be one of them. How do you make peace with your past when you feel like you’re staring at it every day? He was a force to be reckoned with, but could he be the rise of the De Langes without leaving the Families in a pile of ash? So many questions, and all I can say is… Take a deep breath and dive in. Hide in the bathroom and lock the door. Do whatever is necessary to avoid real-life interruptions because they will come at the absolute worst time.
Saying that ‘Ciao Bella’ captivated me would be a vast understatement. The storyline seized my attention in the first few words, and from there, every thought and emotion was completely at the mercy of the words on the pages. Every word was emotionally charged, whether it was because of Ivan being a grade-A a-hole or a million other reasons; you feel every emotion. Every tear you shed, every muttered ‘WTF,’ and all the laughs are how the characters in this world become branded on your soul.
RVD writes in a way that pulls you in so deeply, you feel as much a part of the world as the fictional characters. Whether it’s a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy or a dark mafia tale that makes you laugh, cry, and throw things, her writing is unparalleled. And her mafia series are unequivocally the most intricately woven, mind-blowing, and enthralling stories my eyes have ever seen. Nothing will ever convince me that the EE books aren’t magical. RVD’s writing is exceptional and never ceases to take my breath away.
Ivan and Bella’s story is an emotionally riveting, epic start to the ‘Rise of the De Langes’ series. It’s a tumultuous enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, mafia romance teeming with suspense, clever banter, and witty threats like only the EE characters can pull off. RVD’s writing, especially her mafia series, has the ability to take my breath away.
The insanity of two generations of mafia families offers me hours of escape the stress of real life. From the OG series to this brand new one, every character has left an imprint on my heart and soul. These characters have made such a huge impact on me that I have not one, but two tattoos that are due to my love of the magic I feel every time I’m able to get lost inside the Eagle Elite world. This is what people are referring to when they use the phrase ‘books are the greatest escape.’ You don’t want to miss out on everything these series have to offer....more

Nero is fifty shades spicier than your typical Prince CharEach book in this series surpasses the last, and Nero and Cinder’s tale is no exception. Nero is fifty shades spicier than your typical Prince Charming, while Cinder is the quintessential modern-day Cinderella.
Even if fairy tale retellings aren’t usually your cup of tea, or if you’re undecided, don’t let that deter you from delving into this series. It’s utterly addictive; the Voss men are broody billionaires with a generous dash of spice—what more could a bibliophile desire? There’s a Voss brother to satisfy every reader’s ‘book boyfriend’ criteria.
While each book can stand alone, I strongly recommend reading the Midnight Manor series in sequence for the full experience. The interplay between the Voss brothers and their partners is one aspect, but the authors also intersperse subtle details that will leave you teeming with anticipation for the next installment.
Cinder captured my heart from the start. Despite being trapped with such vile people, she refused to let it taint her spirit. Her stay was an attempt to hold on to a piece of her parents, but as the years passed, the once-cherished memories soured, and she reached her breaking point. I reveled in her walking away, though part of me wished she’d sent a poisoned apple to those despicable beings—wrong fairy tale, but the sentiment stands. They were hags.
Nero is the Prince Charming of a dark romance lover's dream. He’s a charming Prince in the streets, yet behind closed doors (not always) he’s the reigning King of Kinky Spice. Coupled with a tragic history and obsessive tendencies, Nero Voss epitomizes the kind of ‘book boyfriend’ that leaves readers weak at the knees.
Reading Nero and Cinder’s story sent my emotions into a whirlwind. Their shared experience of loss forged a profound connection, resonating with my own. While our circumstances differ, the universal ache of loss unites us in an unwelcome initiation into the “Dead Parent Club”. Cinder’s pain was particularly poignant; navigating a world devoid of her parents is something I can very much relate to. My heart ached, tears flowed, I swooned, and I raged—every emotion they endured pierced my soul.
There was a lot more to these two than the angsty feels. Their rapport suggested a familiarity spanning lifetimes. Their bond was tangible from the outset, blossoming into a fervent passion while also providing solace for their wounded souls. They complemented each other flawlessly, undoubtedly destined to be together.
Midnight Whispers exemplifies the enchantment the authors weave with each story. The anticipation compels you to dive in headfirst, and within pages, you’re so enthralled that the real world fades away. Pro tip: Plan for pizza delivery and have a real life escape strategy for some alone time, if needed. (#NoRegrets)
Midnight Whispers redefines the Cinderella story in a way I never knew I needed. For those who adore billionaire anti-heroes with a penchant for obsessive pursuit, tragic backstories, angst, and the spiciest spice I’ve read this year, Nero and Cinder’s journey is unmissable. I am impatiently awaiting what lies ahead for Sid in Twisted Truths. ...more
I have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion of Elliot and Abi’s story ever since the ‘WTF’ cliffhanger at the end of part one. Having now finished I have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion of Elliot and Abi’s story ever since the ‘WTF’ cliffhanger at the end of part one. Having now finished this tumultuous journey, I can affirm that it was indeed worth the wait.
Elliot and Abi’s tale stands out from all the previous works by this author duo. No other couple has experienced such a tantalizing slow burn, which began the instant they appeared in Reese’s story. The finale to the ‘Heirs of All Hallows’ series is nothing short of perfect—an emotionally charged story that weaves together, friends to lovers, the warmth of chosen family, and the allure of magnetic opposites. This is a spicy romance that you won’t want to miss.
Elliot and Abi’s relationship is defined by an underlying tension, and despite their many differences, they connect on a profound, intricate level. Beyond the surface, they found a mutual understanding in the depth of each other’s gaze—a recognition of pain, and struggle. The lingering question was whether they would be each other’s salvation or downfall.
Describing the emotional turmoil these characters inflicted on my heart is challenging; they felt nothing short of real. The story addresses heavy themes with a raw and heart-wrenching authenticity. Exercise self-care when delving into this duet. (I couldn’t find if the author hasn’t listed any triggers, so I’ve included them here behind a spoiler tag: (view spoiler)[Mental health, self-harm. (hide spoiler)]
Abi’s character development throughout the series is remarkable. She always possessed inner strength; she merely needed the confidence and support to acknowledge and harness it. Shy and sweet, yet fiercely protective, Abi stands as a different kind of badass—one who combats the negative thoughts that besiege her mind. If you see parts of yourself in these characters, remember, you’re not alone in this struggle.
Elliot exceeded all my expectations. His true self extends far beyond his outward facade. Like the previous heirs, familial duty heavily influenced every aspect of his life, but as the destined leader, the burden he had the weight of the world on his shoulders before he even took his first step.
Having been immersed in the Heirs of All Hallows’ world for a year and a half, its conclusion feels like the end of an era. Yet, I’m hopeful for a spin-off featuring a certain little sister, suggesting that while this series may have reached its epic finale, the jealous, devious, and deliciously vicious heirs might not be quite ready to disappear for good quite yet..
This duo has perfected the art of crafting alpha-holes, creating some of my most favorite book boyfriends. A blend of darkness, spice, and the not-so-nice—this is the essence of alpha-holes and the ideal mix that fuels my obsession with book boyfriends who are more than just bad boys.
Savage Vicious Heir: Part Two’ delivers a thrilling end to Elliot and Abi’s saga, standing as the most angst-filled Dare book to date. It’s an all-encompassing tale of friends turning to lovers, featuring a protective alpha-hole, an obsessed hero, and the warmth of a found family, all wrapped in a spicy, dark romance.

It’s finally arrived, and I recommend you dive in when you have uninterrupted free time—perhaps declare it a ‘Troy Day’ and do whatever it takes to avoid all forms of adulting until you’ve savored every word. From the first few words, it felt as though no time had passed since I last visited the Landry family. Troy may not share their last name, but he has long been an integral member of the clan—not only because of the time he spent overseas with Ford. He’s always been at the forefront, ensuring the safety of anyone connected to the family. He’s the one you want in your corner; his unwavering loyalty means he can’t be anywhere else. So what happens when the woman who ignites an unparalleled fire within him—the woman he’s taken painstaking measures to avoid thinking about personally—is in danger? He won’t let anyone else protect her. The brooding coworker turned bodyguard has met his match in this sassy ray of sunshine, and she’s about to set his world ablaze… in more ways than one.
Dahlia is the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. Her one-liners and sarcasm were on point, making it easy to feel as though she was someone in my life. Her friendship with her neighbor made my heart melt. She could have been angry at the world, and it would have been 100% understandable considering the events that had taken place, yet she was genuinely a happy person. She didn’t want to let the bad consume her life; she chose to be happy. As someone who has lost both parents and was diagnosed with several rare diseases that have no cure, who chooses love and laughter over bitterness every day, she was someone I could relate to on many levels.
Troy is all alpha, grumpy, and protective, with a smirk that makes ladies weak. He started stealing my heart years ago, and getting to know more of the man we’ve all seen on the sidelines of some major events in others’ lives made it worth the wait. I loved getting more of this character that has been such a huge part of so many other stories that I’ve loved. He carried such a strong presence in the Landry family series because we all knew that he has always been a hero, but this time he was the hero, and he got the girl.
Troy and Dahlia’s chemistry was palpable from the start, and the moment it’s just the two of them, it becomes an all-consuming inferno. It was as though they had been falling in love since the moment they met. Troy kept his emotions guarded, they worked together, and the million other reasons they used to justify it, none of that mattered because simply being around one another was enough to fuel the chemistry between them. They were complete opposites who pushed each other’s buttons, and it was my favorite form of literary foreplay.
Within the first paragraph, I was immersed in the Landry world as though no time had passed. Clever banter and exceptionally entertaining dialogue set the stage for what was to come in this brand new, very anticipated series. I can’t say I’ve ever read such a perfect first paragraph in a book before. A touch of nostalgia for long-time readers, and hints of intrigue for new readers to dive into the Landry Family series as soon as they finish Pulse.
Troy Castelli is a staple of Landry Security, and I can’t imagine a more impeccable kickoff to this brand new series. If you’re a fan of small towns, second-chance romances with a sassy single mom, and a groveling, swoony hero, look no further. Ben Noughton is ready to sweep you off your feet.
Gillian was the epitome of strength, selflessness, and determination. She stepped in to help with her siblings at a young age, became a single mom early on, and never wavered in taking care of those around her while striving to finish college. She spent years in a town full of bittersweet memories of the one who had left her behind to pursue his NFL dream. Now he’s back, and if he’s expecting her to fall back into the way things used to be, he’s in for a surprise. The only man she needs in her life and in her heart is her son.
Ben returned to his hometown after retiring from professional football, and the moment he arrived, he was reminded that it wasn’t only the girl he left behind. He was swimming in a pool of guilt for several reasons, but the one that gutted him the most was the look of indifference on the face of the woman who once looked at him as though he hung the moon.
Not only did he have to grovel to try to get on Gillian’s good side, but there was also a teenage boy who was protective of his mama’s heart. He had heard about the football star who broke his mom’s heart, and every time he glared at Ben, he made sure Ben knew where he stood. I loved Clayton. He was the typical teenager, always on the go—the age where time with your friends comes before all else. But when it came down to it, he loved his mama fiercely. I have a child the same age who has many of the same qualities, so I felt an instant connection with Clayton—a smart mouth with a heart of gold.
The chemistry between Ben and Gillian was palpable even before they were in the same room. You could feel the heartache, regret, and longing whenever their thoughts drifted to one another. I loved the pull between them that only seemed to fuel the burning passion they shared.
After reading the prequel, my emotions were already invested in Ben and Gillian’s second chance. I wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster ride they would take me on. The animosity between them felt suffocating; my heart ached for the hurt they were suffering, all while the love they had for one another never wavered. Of course, there were also moments that made me giggle and snort. After all, it is a Piper Rayne novel, and the banter alone will always bring laughter. They always seem to balance the hurt and laughter as though it’s an emotional tightrope. They construct the perfect blend of every emotion while still keeping it overall in the romantic comedy sub-genre. I swear, they’re wizards.
“The One I Left Behind” isn’t a book you just read; it’s an all-consuming book that redefines second chances.. I devoured every word as if it were the only way to survive. Ben and Gillian’s second chance is one that was earned—a spellbinding blend of small-town gossip, meddling family, teeming with clever banter, feels, and spice. Piper Rayne has once again proven that love, like their storytelling, only gets better with time. ...more
Shattered Vows is another hit from the dark side of this duo. If, like me, you don’t usually read fairytale retellings, I would highly recommend you iShattered Vows is another hit from the dark side of this duo. If, like me, you don’t usually read fairytale retellings, I would highly recommend you ignore that thought. Koi and Rapsody’s story consumed me from start to finish. “Shattered Vows” is another hit from the darker side of this duo. If you, like me, don’t usually read fairy tale retellings, I highly recommend you set aside that hesitation. Kol and Rhapsody’s story captivated me from start to finish.
Kol is bent on revenge against the woman who left his life without so much as a note. He’s determined to uncover the answers to the questions that have haunted him for years, and then he plans to turn the tables on her. Rhapsody has spent her life under her mother’s watchful eye, doing what she was told to keep her mother content. It was evident early on that her mother’s actions did nothing more than stifle the person Rhapsody truly was. Watching her open up and explore her surroundings with a freedom she never had was delightful. She was the perfect mix of sweet innocence and sassy adventurer.
Kol embodies the essence of dark and dangerous, yet he’s surprisingly sweet in his own revenge-filled, anti-hero heart. He may not have allowed many into his circle, but those he did were fortunate to have this man in their corner. He was fiercely loyal and showed no mercy when it came to protecting those he loved.
The chemistry between Kol and Rhapsody was intense from the outset, and with every interaction, it grew increasingly potent. Kol may have persuaded himself that a single motive guided his actions, while Rapsody might have believed she was staying because of the freedom. In reality, they were both deceiving themselves; there was never any chance they wouldn’t evolve from kidnapping and revenge to an inevitable endgame. Their connection was explosively physical, but it was so much more than that. The intensity permeated every page; they were, without a doubt, meant to be.
“Shattered Vows” is proof that we all still crave fairy tales, especially when they’re dark and spicy. This tale of a billionaire bad boy and a sheltered good girl leads to a deliciously spicy journey. Add in a secret society, a dash of angst, sprinkles of emotion, a kidnapping, a hint of revenge, and a tragically tortured lead, and you have an irresistible, perfectly spicy, adult romance retelling of Rapunzel. I’m eagerly anticipating what’s next for the Voss brothers!...more

LThis Much Is True was exactly what Locke wanted it to be. It’s a witty, flirty, and sweet second chance between a popstar and a blue-collar hero. Locke’s blue-collar heroes and family series always set her apart from others, and This Much Is True, well, proves that to be true.
Laina is back in her small town for her very public wedding, only to realize there’s no way she can possibly go through with it. When push comes to shove, there’s only one place where she can seek refuge; it just happens to be at her ex’s house. It’s not just the farm and land away from prying eyes that make it a sanctuary; it’s the arms and the presence of the first man she ever loved.
Luke Marshall walks into his house and is knocked for a loop as the blast from his past sits on his couch, wearing a wedding dress. She’s the one who got away, and no matter what he has to do, he’s not letting her go this time. He offers her a place to stay and a new hope that he may just be able to get a second chance with the woman who holds the key to his house and his happily ever after.
Laina and Luke’s second chance starts with a runaway bride and a minor (ish) felony, and that was all it took for me to be completely enraptured. The moment Luke steps on the page, the air sizzles with the connection they share, and it only gets more intense from there. Laina and Luke were as witty and entertaining as they were sweet and spicy. This Much Is True is the perfect blend and offers hours of lighthearted escape for your mind, and the emotions stay wrapped around your heart like a literary hug hours after you’ve finished reading.
I’m in love with the Marshall family. Locke has an endless number of family sagas, and she always gives them their own quirks to make them stand out from the others. The one thing they all have in common is that every member, no matter how insane they may make one another, is teeming with unconditional love for one another. Locke always manages to make my hardened heart all mushy long after I am forced back to reality.
If you are looking for a book that’s low-angst, featuring adults who behave as such, teeming with banter, and laughing out loud shenanigans, then you NEED Laina and Luke’s story in your life. If you haven’t read any of Locke’s books, go one-click her first, then prepare to binge. After you admit you’re obsessed, you can come back and thank me.
I will never take for granted the magic that happens every time I open Locke’s books. Whether you’ve met them before or they are brand new characters, they feel like family, and the world feels like home. Whether it’s a country star or a rancher, a small town sass or a big city girl boss, her characters are all relatable. The families she creates are what we all aspire to be a part of or build on our own. I can’t wait to spend more time with the Marshall family!

Add in the slowest slow-burn to ever slow-burn (sloth-burn?) the cackling laughter, especially at the hands (mouths) of the folks of the Northern Lights, and you end up with another new Piper Rayne favorite.
Not only is this duo my favorite when it comes to small towns and single dads, but also family series, so of course I expected amazing things as soon as I opened Palmer and Hudson’s book. What I didn’t expect was to be completely and utterly blown away. Everything between the two of them was nothing short of extraordinary. Their friendship, their love for their daughter, and the love and respect they have for one another added so much to the story. They were meant to be, but, of course, it’s never that simple.
Palmer and Hudson are best friends who shared a night together that resulted in a pregnancy. Since that moment, they have put their daughter first. The friendship they share has made co-parenting effortless. Things start to get a little shaken up when relationships and other outside elements begin to make them question if what and who they have is really what they want. Is exploring the underlying tension that’s brewing between them worth risking the life they built?
I felt as though Palmer and Hudson’s story was a little more on the angsty side than what’s normal for this duo, but not to the point where it was overwrought with emotion. My throat felt as though it was going to close, and at times I felt as though there was a glacier the size of Alaska on my chest. There were several reasons, and each was necessary for them to get from where they were to where they ended up. Needless to say, it was an emotional ride, but don’t let that sway you because there were more laughs than anything else. I laughed until I cried, and I’m still sporting the smile that always tends to stay with me long after finishing one of this duo's novels.
The connection between Palmer and Hudson was there from the very first page, but it paled in comparison to what evolved between them. They had some realizations staring them in the face, and it seemed as though once that happened, what had seemed to have been simmering on the backburner had become this intense, soul-consuming inferno between them. Palmer and Hudson’s story is a blizzard of angst, laughter, clever banter, and a level of “slow-burn” that was perfect for the Alaskan setting. Hudson and Palmer nailed the “slower than molasses in the winter time” phrase in ALL the most decadent ways!!
Nobody does small town, family, or single dads like this duo, and they still manage to leave me in awe. Every trope was depicted to the most captivatingly perfect degree!! If you are a connoisseur of tropes like myself then you don’t want to miss out on all this tropey goodness!! The only drawback was that I wanted more, not for any other reason than that spending time in this Alaskan town is food for the soul.

Whether you’re a newlywed or, like Lauren (and myself), have weathered two decades of marriage, this book is a must-read. Beyond mere romance, it imparts profound life lessons applicable to anyone, regardless of their relationship status.
What sets this story apart is its raw authenticity. The painful realities of life strain even the strongest bonds, and we witness a marriage teetering on the edge. Lauren, who has devoted her life to her family, finds herself disconnected from her husband after years of juggling kids, responsibilities, and misplaced priorities. Divorce seems inevitable, but she hasn’t factored in her children and father-in-law. Enter a group of scheming teenagers, a cantankerous old man, and a husband unwilling to abandon the love of his life. Their shared connection, though frayed, refuses to fade completely. Can they rekindle their love? Are they willing to try?
Enter the clever old man who orchestrates an unexpected family vacation—a last-ditch effort to salvage their relationship. Lauren’s awakening moment arrives when she realizes something crucial is missing from her life. Something just for her, independent of her role as a wife and mother. As someone who once grappled with a similar identity crisis, I empathize deeply. Parenthood is a beautiful journey, but sometimes we lose ourselves along the way. Lauren’s journey resonates, reminding us that self-discovery is essential, even within the context of a long-standing marriage.
Lauren found a hobby she loved and made it so much more than a hobby. Similarly, I started a blog, and it changed my life. When your pleas for help fall on deaf ears, you learn to do it all. You lose yourself in the process of being everything to everyone else. Your existence becomes defined by others.
Jack, on the other hand, remained blissfully unaware of Lauren’s inner turmoil. His focus was on building his business, and over time, he and Lauren seemed to live parallel lives. The heartbreak lies in the love they still share, despite the pain caused by their circumstances. They love each other fiercely, yet their shared life has become a mere existence.
As I read this story, tears flowed freely. The dedication alone struck a chord deep within me. Sweet nostalgia mingled with my own emotions, creating a tapestry of heartache. This fictional tale felt achingly real, like a biography waiting to be lived.
Lauren’s thoughts and emotions mirror my own experiences as a mom and wife. The troubled marriage depicted here is poignant and raw. Lauren's and Jack’s journey takes us on an emotionally charged ride. Locke’s words resonate, emphasizing the importance of family love woven into every page.
Nothing But It All isn’t just the best book I’ve read in a long time—it’s also refreshingly unique. Its authenticity and relatability make it a gem unlike anything else.

That’s not generally my thing, but if this duo is writing it, I’m reading it. Within a few pages, I was completely mesmerized by the intriguing world that came to life before my eyes. Mystery, suspense, sass, and SO much spice. Asher and Anabelle’s story was an enthralling introduction to the Midnight Manor series. The Voss brothers certainly have my attention, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come. (No pun intended.) (By far the spiciest book I’ve read in quite some time.)

As soon as I opened My Anti-Hero and read the dedication, I knew I was in for a treat. I couldn't wait to dive into the story. I have a penchant for spicy books and murder mysteries, and if you throw in some chickens and baby goats, I'm sold. Needless to say, I was fully committed to reading every single word of this book before returning to real life.
Brett Broudou is a star football player who grew up in a cloud of darkness, also known as Roussou. If that town doesn’t look familiar, reevaluate your bookish life and go binge the Fallen Crest series. You’re welcome). Even when you are able to get out, the effects of growing up like that never quite go away. Billie, on the other hand, has seen and lived through some of life's most tragic horrors and heartbreaks. These experiences have left them both more closed off than Fort Knox. Then fate intervenes, and two people who live shrouded in darkness find a glimmer of light and magic. From the moment they meet, their connection is electric, and the suspense is palpable. The chemistry between the characters is intense and intriguing, making it impossible to put it down until the thrilling conclusion.
Brett is fiercely protective of those he cares about, and Billie quickly climbs to the top of that list. It was the darkness they both carried that triggered the initial connection, but it became so much more. Their connection was soul-consuming and all-encompassing. If you're looking for an enthralling read that will keep you on edge until the last page, My Anti-Hero is a must-read.

In the case of Cooper and Ellery in Something Like Love, they surpassed it tenfold. The series began with a spark of hate, but it was quickly engulfed by an intense blaze of lust and the potent force of love that emanated from the fiercely protective heroes and their spirited heroines. As the final pages turned, the reader was left with a feeling of bittersweet longing, yearning for more characters to fall in love with. This captivating series, a tapestry woven from the threads of sports romance and the bonds of friendship, is a testament to the enduring power of love and the unbreakable ties of family, whether by blood or choice.
Ellery and Cooper have been friends for a decade, and if you read the previous books in the Grizzlies series, you saw what they seemed to be blind to. They were a lot more to one another than best friends. A promise made them bury their underlying feelings for one another. A tale of love, friendship, and passion that bewitches the heart and soul. Cooper and Ellery ignite the pages with their palpable chemistry and magnetic bond. A decade of friendship concealed the fiery emotions that simmered beneath the surface, but fate had other plans. With the help of their supportive friends, the duo confronts their feelings, risking everything to explore the depths of their love.
I feel like I’m about to star in the Buffy musical episode and bust out with the song “Once More with Feeling” for how many times I’ve started to write this and then deleted it. Not only because this is the final book in the Grizzlies, but because there was something about Ellery and Cooper that was so much more than love. I can’t even pinpoint exactly what it is; there is just something inherently special about the love they share.
Ellery was kind and compassionate, with a side of sass. She was meant to be a doctor, and even more so, she and Cooper were meant to be endgame. Cooper wins MVBB (MVBB “Most Valuable Book Boyfriend”) of the Chicago Grizzlies series. He was far from the typical athlete; he had the cockiness of a professional athlete, the swagger of a man who knows what he wants, and the heart and ideals of a small-town gentleman. He was the whole book boyfriend package.
The way Cooper and Ellery stood by one another to show their support at every opportunity showed not only how much they care for one another but also that they respect one another. He was always watching to make sure she was okay, but he never acted overbearing. She stood proudly in the stands with his number on her back, supporting and cheering for him during every home game. He stood by her side in support of events for the hospital she worked at, and I adored how he stood back to allow her to shine in those moments.
Can we all agree that the “slow burn” between Cooper and Ellery was intense enough to singe hair off anyone in their vicinity, and that was when they were sticking to the best friend side of the line they drew? When they FINALLY started to see what everyone else had known all along, they were filled with fiery passion mixed with a hurricane of emotions. Cooper was swoony book boyfriend personified; he didn’t just fall first; he dove in head first and went from 0 to 100.
My feels were wrapped up in Ellery and Cooper the moment I read the first word, and although this isn’t a super angsty story, there were moments that created a bit of perspiration in my eyes. The slow-burn of their attraction ignites with a ferocity that singes the pages, enveloping readers in a whirlwind of emotions.
This duo never delivers less than the most exquisite serendipitous escape, and Something Like Love brought it to a whole new level. If you love best friends to lovers, protective hero, found family, or sports romance, you absolutely need Cooper and Ellery’s story. For anyone who loves slow-burns, look no further; start the Grizzlies series for the full extent of Coop and Ellery’s three books of tension-fueled “will they or won’t they?" The duo does an excellent job of weaving these tropes together, resulting in a well-crafted and engaging story.
Amidst the chaos of everyday life, it's impossible to overstate how much I value the books of this writing duo. Whether the setting is sports or a small town, the stories feel like coming home. Whether it's a group of athletes or a family with a diverse array of professions, the characters all become friends. The plotlines are captivating, offering a respite from reality, and each character finds a way to connect with readers on a personal level. It's not just one aspect; it's the whole package—the love story unfolding before our eyes, the bonds between friends and family. With their exceptional storytelling and meticulous attention to detail, the duo has brought these characters to life, immersing readers in their world. With each turn of the page, the magic deepens, leaving our hearts and minds feeling uplifted and inspired long after reaching the end.

I have been anxiously waiting for some new Amy Daws’ words. Daws’ lateNine Month Contract deserves an infinite number of miniature highland cows!!
I have been anxiously waiting for some new Amy Daws’ words. Daws’ latest work exceeded my wildest dreams, whisking me away to the heights of Fletcher Mountain. Each moment was a delightful mix of whimsy, tears, laughter, and swoon, drawing me deep into Daws’ enchanting new universe. For those whose partners dread the mention of animals, fearing an inevitable new addition to the family, you’ll find a kindred spirit in the heroine of this story.
The narrative centers on pregnancy, a sensitive topic for many. It’s important to heed the author’s note, trigger warnings, and prioritize your comfort when choosing to delve into this story.
If silent, broody, possessive, and growly book boyfriends are your Achilles’ heel, this grumpy/sunshine, age-gap, and surrogacy book is a must-read. The gruff mountain man finds his equal in a feisty, voluptuous, fiercely independent woman with a knack for unintentionally collecting farm animals.
Trista captured my heart from her first words; her blend of sweetness, determination, sass, and a touch of eccentricity—solely concerning animals—was endearing. She and Wyatt are a match made in literary heaven. Wyatt has completely won me over. In fact, there’s much my own partner could glean from him. The secret to a woman’s heart? A barn on your property is to be filled with animals. Wyatt’s blend of thoughtfulness and protectiveness was utterly swoon-worthy.
From their initial encounter, Trista and Wyatt’s rapport sparked an electrifying game of verbal sparring, igniting a passionate bond that transcended mere attraction. Their connection hinted at a deeper recognition, a waiting game for their minds and hearts to align. Trista introduced a whirlwind of joy into Wyatt’s life, while he provided a level of care, security, and concern she never imagined possible.
Amidst the abundant humor, there were poignant moments that moved me to tears. Daws masterfully balances humor with emotion, ensuring that laughter outweighs sorrow. When characters are depicted in a way that truly brings them to life on the pages, it’s impossible not to be engulfed by emotions as though they were your own, especially when the subject is highly emotional. I felt as though Daws did an amazing balancing of the laughs and tears, making it so there were many more tears from laughter than from heartache.
The unique premise of “The Nine-Month Contract” sets it apart, not only highlighting surrogacy—a rare theme—but also Wyatt’s intention to embrace single fatherhood. Combined with Daws’ signature wit, the story weaves a compelling narrative rich with emotion, witty dialogue, and boundless love and support.
