It's more than YA because her rockstar father actually has more growth and development than she does. It's done very well. There is a fine line with at least half of the book on if we can see grief and despair lift for Rachel. And it does and mainly because she's great! I love how she realizes she has to talk to someone about her intimacy issues and when she figures her dad is as good as anyone (he steps up to the plate) and she finds her answer. There are tons of opportunities for her to step up and out of comfort zone and she does. By end of book both her and dad grow and love together and separately. Got to read again!!!...more

The love story made me cry, a little.

I was dubious about Lizzie as I were all the rest. I mean, come on, they are Hollywood elite and probably spoiled. We hear the voice of the person who was sprinkling the poison so we know something shitty is going to happen and it seemed to be someone familiar.....we just don't know.... suspense foreshadowing and then a big storm starts up while they are on the boat. Yikes!!
It is a bit like Lost but you're invested with this group who are laughing about Lost while eating bananas off trees that they picked them from.
I like the dynamic of the group and you think the book is wrapping up but something is still niggling on Lizzie's thoughts. There is plenty of romance and not overly sexy. I did grimace as Lizzie still was processing and her bet was calling for payment. I'd of wanted sleep too.
Girls, be Lizzie and learn to take care of yourself with confidence as she did with self defense lessons with her dad.
I like that the author is talented enough to make this a standalone but I see the characters from other books and it's seem less. Nice.

I think I have never read a book where I fully understood the character as I did Hank. It's like Hank as a rockstar zoned out two decades of his life in the drugs and drinking of a rockstar. It affected his reality of what a relationship should be because Kat and him were so literally messed up during their attempts at a relationship.
Hank is just starting his normal. His brother is his rock giving Hank a job and a bedroom at his house. Hank gives back by volunteering at the crisis center. He meets Midge at a small gathering. She doesn't know he's a former rockstar. She's a single divorced mother of three teenaged boys. Her self esteem isn't high but she's strong enough to not be a doormat at her job. I like her.
I loved "After Care" (book 1) and this was right up there as a favorite. The cover is how I imagine Hank to look also....more

Sounds like a simple story but it's anything but simple. There are some funny bits although I think Little Debbie is awesome it may get over played.... I think it's an exceptional read. I think his mother seemed quite real and I could actually believe that sceanerio. The father situation was sad. This could of been a total downer book but Aaron was an exceptional boyfriend. He carried enough love for the story to be brighter in your day for having read it....more

Theo and Ally make very fun adversaries. I enjoyed how their banter played out.
When Ally ended up having trouble with Theo, I really enjoyed the author working through Ally's thought process to the layers of the problem (cause she believed him) and then used communication to solve problem.

This book was amazing!! It was a bit dark. Johnny has a problem and it's not pretty. His girl is a very strong girl so she leaves him.
Wonderfully written to where author teases you with Johnny's character that he plays in movies and parallels with his life. Will he be that guy or can that ending be rewritten?
I love all the characters...even the bad ones. I will be pondering this story for awhile. Other books will pale.

As Cath is as messed up as a 17 year old can be with poor decisions we also see grit and determination in her. Her mom and her do not get along but it might be that her mom has values and morals but stinks at how she relates to her daughter. It's part of the many layers of this story that makes you ponder the right and wrong or luck of a situation.
We can't imagine life getting any lower for Cath. The author supplies Kleenex for certain moments in the book, including when she meets Brett. Relief is seen in some good friends and some luck.
You know about half way through I realized that I was more wrapped into Cath's life and it was just a "Cinderella" rip off.
BUT, then the story turns and layers of Brett come into play. We don't get Brett's pov but author interjects Brett's personality and values in other ways...some are very fun and shows great appreciation and love.
I think there is a lot of care in development of both of their lives between their work ethic and careers. I wouldn't call this a hockey book.
Absolutely loved this book. It's written for a much younger reader than I but it's written so well that I thought I was that age or wished I were.

Vaughn is wonderful. She has one very special family and I love them. Oak is an acquired taste. He seems to be quintessential rock star. He basically has no relationship with his parents and he's spoiled by money and handlers until he needs something bad but has to behave a bit. At 19 he's a bit washed up. His creativity is blocked. He needs something. He gets Vaughn. She's snarly and normal.
Fun premise and we'll executed. My favorite of the year in YA....more

Wonderfully written with a strong female character. Serina is excellent. She has a strong work ethic, lots of compassion, and very sensibly disposed. She's beautiful but unattainable after what she suffered with her first husband's betrayal. With a blooming career in landscape design she meets Dane, a rockstar who when building his house meets up with his landscape designer.
The book perfectly paces a relationship between them that is rocky and quite eventful. Serina as a search and rescue volunteer has quite a bit of her own adventure and throw in rockstar stalker drama makes this book very interesting.
There were a few grammatical errors but this story was so good!! I'm hoping to read more by this author!!...more

My only complaint would be the typos...a few that made me cringe.
Oh, I failed to see relevance of Tank and his departure...I guess it showed Smokey's fears...still I feel law enforcement does try to do a job....?? So I'm on the fence on why Det. Watson was involved knowing someone would have to do something to eliminate Tank??!!

You'll be drawn in by the richness of the characters of whom you'll love or love to hate. Life in the Hamptons is business for Dakota. She has made a job pleasing people and she's great at it. Max buys her "family" estate because uncle Elliot needed the money. Far from being upset, Dakota has no good memories of the place and agrees to help renovate the place. Quickly Max and Dakota hit it off. Neither seem to be anxious for more. She teaches him to surf.
As a reader this book has a good pace and lots of emotion. Character development is strong as you are sure Dakota is a saint to put with her family. Friends are blessed for Dakota and give her escape from her family with fierce loyalty. Max, however has a big secret with his family and it affects their relationship throughout.
Many thanks to NetGalley for ARC in exchange for honest review. This is a book of the year for me thus far!!!...more

I can't think of a better time reading than this book. I laughed hard that the cat sitting on my lap flew off very indignant. (I'm not a cat lady but if you sit for any length of time you'll notice cat hair either sitting with you or on you).
I just love how implausible the whole meet Eric situation was that the author made the MC believe it too. New York mumbles half the book not believing her situation.
I loved Ryan, Lila, Judith, and Will. Supporting cast awards for book reviews make them 2017 finalists.
I'll be re-reading the book and warn the cats first.

I read over 600 romance books a year and many have been Kelly Jamieson so I appreciate something fresh and different yet still plausible. I love sports and strong women. I think I got three strong women in one sitting...Sara, Peyton, and Chloe plus a hunky hockey player.
It has a brave topic and it's cancer. I think Kelly explained in her notes that she has experience in that topic as many of us do. I think I felt the helplessness towards the end of my loved one's life as portrayed in the story. Hospice is a God send!!!
I guess the romance of Peyton could of been expanded. It all seemed ambitious with career building and grief and learning to parent a 12 year old. Still, I think Kelly showed writing skills and with Drew, you just have chemistry and protective tendencies. Hot stuff that man!!
