I get the guys are on a ranch in Texas, but come on. While I understood where she was trying to go with it, what it did was make them look lazy and uneducated - the main reason why southern speak in books is one of my biggest reading pet peeves. I've always said that the accent/drawl is nice to hear in the real world, but it doesn't usually carry over to print. That was definitely the case here.
I was born and raised in lower Alabama. We may have a bit of a drawl, but dropping the g in every word that ends in ing isn't the norm. Not in every conversation anyway.
Aside from that, I liked Mateo and Hawthorne together for the most part. However, I kind of felt that Mateo's two steps forward, three steps back got tiring.
I'm reading this series out of order, something I don't often like to do, because it introduces the guys from Dix. I really wish I would've read Virgin Hearts first. No matter. I'll be catching up with the rest of this series soon enough.

While I liked it well enough, my rating is mostly based on when Kelly, Jonah, and Jonah's kids were on page. I just couldn't really get a feel for Julian and Derek. There are also quite a few screwed up timelines in this book, and some serious lack of detail when it was needed.
Julian and Derek's story could've been really good had the author not skimmed over a lot of things that I felt were important. And how were the screwed up timelines not caught? I'm not the only reviewer pointing them out.
I did like Julian and Derek together for the most part. I just wish the author would've taken more time to give them the story I feel they deserved.

It was easy to see how much he loved Ty and wanted to do everything in the world to make him happy. He was a true Daddy and was only happy when his man was. I liked Ty as well. I just didn’t like how he refused to say no when he was suckered into yet another project or favor. He came across as such a doormat. Even so, I liked them together.
Very low angst. No real drama.
I’ll be reading the others because I’m invested in this little world.

I love a good small town book. Safe Harbor is your typical small town.
I also love a good mystery, and it looks like this series will have that before it's over.
I adored Knox right off. He may have been young, but he was very mature for his age. He had to be because he's grown up between his mom's place and his dad's. Throw in that his dad has a new wife, triplets, and another on the way, and he's all over the place. I say that because Knox's bastard dad used the hell out of him. He was always asked to watch the triplets, run an errand, fix something that's broken... the list goes on and on. Even with all those responsibilities, his father still treated him like a small child.
I liked Monroe for the most part, but he was kind of stiff early on. Understandable, I suppose, especially considering he has the hots for his best friend's son. ;)
This starts off with a bang but then slows down a little as Knox and Monroe try their damnedest to not fall in love and into bed with each other. Knox's dad's a jerk. No way would he ever accept his best friend and his son being in any type of relationship.
I HATED Rob, Knox's dad, with a passion. That didn't change as the story played out.
Overall, this is a good book, but I couldn't give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons. One, I felt like I was dropped into a world that I should've known about but didn't. There seemed to be a few inside jokes between some of the characters that went over my head. And, two, Rob. I was constantly waiting on the other shoe to drop with him.
Even so, I enjoyed the heck out of this book. I'll be reading the others in the series.

This was such a fun and sexy story. First, there's Ethan, the grumpy Brit. Then there's Colin, the live and let live American. Neighbors, they absolutely despise each other. Even so, that doesn't stop them from having a little playtime while watching the other through a window almost every night. You'd have to read the book to see how that started. When they eventually take it beyond just watching, it's sexy as hell.
Then there's Daniel, Colin's seven-year-old son. Daniel was precious at the same time he was hilarious. I liked most of the other secondary characters, minus Colin's sister. She was okay in the beginning, but then she turned into that 'meddling female family member/friend' that are in so many books these days.
Overall, the book was really good. It made me laugh a lot, but there are also a couple of Aw! moments.
I've not read the first 5 books in the series. I'm not one to ever skip ahead but I'm glad I did this time. I had a blast with this book.

I loved both Oliver and Luca. Their relationship starts super fast, and feelings come super fast, but it's obvious to see they're meant for each other. Even so, they live different lives in different parts of the country. Their relationship turning into something long-term doesn't seem to be in the cards, no matter how much they both want it. The way everything comes together is a big Aww! moment.

I changed my mind because Trick's story is next and I'm not a fan so I'll be walking away temporarily. I'll definitely be coming back to it as I'm eager to read Raven's book.
With that being said...
I liked Storm and Hennessey together. They were as different as night and day but they worked. They go from employer slash employee to having a fake relationship when Storm's ex-husband shows up on the island without warning. That fake thing disappears quickly when one kiss leads to a little playing around. Before both men realize it, they're wanting more, though both have sucked in the past with relationships. Storm and Donnie (the ex) were toxic together, and Hen's had a weird three-year obsession with one of the locals, Easy. It's the Easy thing that had me not rating the book higher. Three years is a bit much, and Hen (until he and Storm came together) was beyond silly when it came to all that.
I may go ahead and read Goose's book soon, Wild Goose Chase, and then read Dirty Trick. I'm not normally a fan of reading books out of order in series, but I've not even read Trick's story yet and I'm over him. Hopefully my opinion will change.
Overall, Taken by Storm is nice. I enjoyed watching Storm and Hen realize that what they felt went way beyond employer and employee.

Overall, a nice story. There wasn’t a whole lot to it, so I can’t say much more than I already have. I’m such a sucker for a good second chance story, and I liked Real and Flynn together.
I liked this one so much more than The Plus-One Entanglement. After looking at other reviews, I'm in the minority there.

I love a good age gap story, especially if it’s friends to lovers like this one. Pete and Daniel were as different as night and day, another thing I love. You can’t not love the cover, and the sex was off the charts hot.
What I didn’t love was the constant use of exclamation points. One or two, fine. Every single time there’s a little bit of excitement and during sex? Distracting as hell, and it seriously takes away from the story. I knocked off a half-star for that reason.
Overall, a really good story. Like I said above, I enjoyed it much more than the first book that had me shaking my head a little. I’m eager to read Kaiden’s book. We already know (suspect) who his love interest will be. I’m curious to finally see the two of them together. So far, it’s just been talk.

So, it started out hoJordan and Asher meet inside an ATM glass enclosure during a storm and blackout. They even share a hot kiss before Jordan bolts. So, it started out hot and heavy. The two guys end up meeting again at Jordan's brother's tattoo shop not long after. This is where Jordan kinda/sorta/not really blackmails Asher into being his plus-one at his ex-boyfriends upcoming wedding. Jordan didn't want to go, but a little too much tequila had him RSVPing anyway. Too late to back out now. Leading up to the wedding, Asher seems to just appear wherever Jordan is, even at his job. I thought that was odd. I just didn't realize how odd until the truth of Asher's past came out.
That's all I'm going to say here about the story.
Overall, I liked the book well enough, but I had a serious WTF? moment when Asher's past came out. I had a bigger WTF? moment when the author tried to justify certain things as being normal. Had that not happened, it would've at least been a 4 star read for me.

Quinn, I loved, though he was a bit much early on. I couldn't stand Josh, Grey's son, and I couldn't understand how he and Quinn were ever friends. They were so different. I also had an issue with Grey's constant inner monologue about the age difference and how guilty he felt over hooking up with his son's best friend.
Even with all that, I did enjoy the book, and I thought these guys worked well together. I have to say this, though.... Grey was 33, but the author wrote him as ancient. Uh, when did 33 become old? It would've been laughable had Grey not honestly acted like he was on his last legs, so to speak.
