Games We Play is the first book by Dana Isaly that I'd read and well, didn't meet my expectation but it's not bad either. The writing can be too over the place, especially the BDSM parts that seems like jumbled and written half-assed (lel, is this even a term XD). The kink kinda come from nowhere too, lol. Like degradation, daddy kink, spanks, humiliation, but imho not that hard to read? BDSM not my favorite theme but I can feel that the BDSM element in this book is not that good.
Anyhoo, despite the criticism, I feel entertained. I think Jack a.k.a Joker will be a jerk but turn up he's a cinnamon roll guys with the right amount of protectiveness and possessiveness. Quinlan is not that bad either, although when -trigger warning there- she talk about her attempt to suicide can be triggering to some. The epilogue kinda cute, tho. So what if they end up married, lol. Lastly I got stressed enough because of work, so the epilogue is like a balm to my soul and remind me why I always love reading romance at the first place.
Games We Play might not be a solid starter for One Night series, but Dana Isaly introduced reader to Jack's friends. Since this is part of series, the book will feature different hero and heroine and their one night, and next is Wes's chance. I hope he's as interesting as Jack, or..better. ...more

A very diverse erotica anthology, written by women and for women. Some short stories is too vanilla for me (despite this entitled as "erotica"), some are "wtf I just read", some make me yawn aka pretty boring and some make me beg for more.
A New Canvas
For a first story, it's pretty yawn for me. Didn't left impression too to make me want to read another. But, hey, this is still the beginning.
Demimonde
Pretty generic historical romance. Didn't find it erotic at all (if you can say that quick tumble in the carriage is erotic), except that the heroine find her awakening. Disappointed that the author didn't explore much to the masquerade debauchery.
Ophelia the Second
Inspired by Hamlet..but this is not Hamlet re-telling. Too simple for me and not erotic at all. Gosh, did I need to continue the rest? Well, I can endure this.
Revisiting Youth The first diverse story (finally). Set in Japan about widower past her 30 (40 maybe?) and she is Asian as well. Have menage with young men. I like that the author write about love hotel, as a manga reader, I appreciate this, lol.
Date Night Story is usual but the sex steamy. If you want to spice up your relationship with your husband, that is.
Flying Solo Wow, just wow. I might be find the first gem. Never read any by Rachel Kramer Bussel (whom happen to be editor of this anthology) and may check her others work. A good combination between 1st PoV and 2nd PoV as well, which is rare. Steamy is another bonus. Very recommended.
Drawn by Nic A quickie story. Not enough to burn. I have no slightest idea who this Nic is.
The Ropes Old flames rekindle in the outing. Maybe you may consider to go to company training if it will end you up with your office crush. So hard to imagine they have sex in the height and just by ropes. I keep screaming "what if they fall??"
Starstruck Another favorites. The heroine is PoC, past her prime (she's about 40-ish), and nerd. I like that finally she can meet her teenage crush and well..have sex with him is a cherry on the top of geeky sundae. Recommended.
The Altar of Lamented Toys The world might be near its ending, but not your love and passion. You can always find the heat in the hopeless situation. A nice erotic short story in the post-apocalyptic era.
Matilda's Secret This story maybe part of the author's series, but can be read as stand alone as well. Its also give a nice ending, not just a quick meeting or open ending.
Scents & Sexuality Well.. a little bit weird for my taste. Just weird (aka I forgot what the story, lol)
Alvin's Night Very much alike Date Night, but with third party named Alvin. I can said it almost the same with Flying Solo, but just with a little spice aka no actual sex.
Enter Me This is the first time I read a story about deaf character. The author masterfully write what its feel to can't hear anything, how its affect the character's life. I can relate a bit since my hearing is not good (I'm not deaf, just my right ear is not functioning properly). The story feel melancholy too me, but also hopeful.
The Wolf at His Door Supposedly to be BDSM story...but..eh..feel vanilla for me
Out of Ordinary The first story feature transgender character. Took me a little bit to realize one of the characters is trans. It's a nice and steamy story and the author insert some insight how the trans character family treat him with his condition. A little bit sad, tbh.
Lighting the Pyre A story about breast cancer survivor. Start with her having tattoo and then have outdoor sex with her girlfriend. Some make me confused, like when she using condom? Maybe she used strap-on? :/
Restitution An artist make a scandal to buzz her new single. I already new that her interrogation is just a cover up, lol
The Carnalarium A lesbian story, with one girl is commitment phobic, want to leave her lover to travel around the world. I almost irritated by her. Like if she afraid of commitment, why she suddenly act jealous when her girlfriend try to forget her and move on with new lover. The ending is bittersweet but I guess it's perfect for the phobic commitment character. You must deal with the consequences of your choice.
Waiting to Pee All I can said is..yuck, yuck, gross. The title already said it. Sorry, can't find how the story is erotic!
Two Doms for Dinner Pretty ho-hum for BDSM short stories. Not enough steam, despite its have two Doms. Just barely scratch the itch.
The Assistant Save the best for the last! Written by Tiffany Reisz, I know that she will always deliver even with just short story. I must make time to read her Original Sinners series!
I can't said that this is "Best" collection, for some stories is pretty mediocre for me. I guess it's hard to choose 20 stories from hundred stories that meet the editor standards (I know how it feels. Been there done that), and maybe my taste and her is somehow a little bit different. What she or others reader dubbed as erotic is not erotic at all for me (example: Waiting to Pee). BUT, I won't said that this anthology is bad, because I enjoy some of the stories. Its diverse and give some new perspective for me like, a deaf character, PoC, lesbians, trans character and women past her prime age. ...more
An erotic retelling novella that have BDSM element, Petals and Thorns is when the Beast is indeed a beast and how the Belle (aka the heroine) 3 stars
An erotic retelling novella that have BDSM element, Petals and Thorns is when the Beast is indeed a beast and how the Belle (aka the heroine) try her hardest to succumb to the beast seduction. Amarantha agree to marry the Beast to save her father, but the marriage is just in name only. She will be the Beast's wife for forever if she willingly give her virginity to him in just 7 days. Her father said, it's easy, to quote him "a ninny can close her legs for a week", for the Beast is a monster. But it's apparently not that easy.
From the first day, Beast prepare and introduce her to his "seduction", with reward and punishment, and each night after midnight, he ask her if she want to be claimed by him. Amarantha of course said "No". Each day Beast seduce and torture her with so many pleasure and each day her resolution waver. Just a matter of time until Amarantha finally give in, but is life with the Beast all that she want?
Okay, that rhetoric question tho, eventually if you like Beauty and the Beast (I watch the movie, and think Emma Watson is just so so as Belle. Dan Stevens is another matter ;) ), you can guess the ending. The BDSM element, imho, very light, but I just read so few because I admit that I'm not to comfortable with BDSM. Amarantha herself just your plain heroine (or damsel, whatev), but I do like Kennedy's take for the Beast. He can be demanding, but he's also patient. He's so true to his words when he said that he won't take Amarantha's virginity by force, but, he's also very clever to coax her to accept him and his fetish when it's come to pleasure. I agree that their time together is very short, but the original version kinda have "stockholm syndrome" of it, so I willing to just let it go. While the BDSM element is steamy and give so many sexual tension, the actual sex scene lack some steam. Kinda disappointed, tbh :P.
A lovely and erotic retelling, especially if you love Beauty and the Beast, but with some spice on it....more
Why you must read A Gentleman in the Street by Alisha Rai: a. Heroine is a billionaire, a rare occupation for any women in Romancelandia (queens4 stars
Why you must read A Gentleman in the Street by Alisha Rai: a. Heroine is a billionaire, a rare occupation for any women in Romancelandia (queens, princesses and goddesses don't count) b. Hero is an author and mix of alpha and beta hero. Also have lumberjack physique appearance c. Interracial love. Diverse characters for the win! d. Step sibling love if you like that kind of story. But not ordinary step sibling love of course e. Mandy and Tori, ladies from Smexy Books, my favorite romance blog read and love this. And I always believe their review and ratings f. Seriously guys, just read this!!
Like I had stated earlier in my status, Romancelandia need more billionaire women that can balance their strength and their hearts. I'm a little bit surprised why so many authors choose to write CEO and billionaire men, while in reality there are so many succesful businesswomen out there?
I praise Ms Rai because she can write about a hero and heroine that balanced each other. Jacob might be just an author, even he's a best seller author, his money and status of course lower than his step sister. But, he didn't cower in front of Akira's rich and debauchery life. A nice change for the overused theme of billionaire, and I hope that A Gentleman in Street will be a start for romance that feature strong, succesfull and confident with her sexuality heroines, never ashamed with what she is.
This book also give an example, that a beta hero can act as alpha too when its necessary. Jacob might be desirable if you love lumberjack kind of hero, but it's not his physique appearance that make me love him. Often I read heroes that act as alpha to the heroines that end up I laughing a lot because it's ridiculous or want to kick them in their ass for their "I'm Tarzan, hear me roar!!". Not with Jacob. He act as asshole at first, but he changes and even until the end, he act as an adult he was. He balance his softer and rough side, and that what make him perfect for Akira. Since Akira is so full of doubt and think that she didn't deserve love. He embrace Akira's antique, accept her for what she is and teach her that she capable of love
I like Akira, and her devensiveness toward Jacob, with constantly taunt him sexually are understable. Sure she somehow seems like a child and the drama plus angst can be over the top. But, if we see her fucked up past, readers will sympathize with her.
It had been in self-defense, she assured herself. Driving people crazy was her time-honored way of dealing with those who disapproved of her. Give them exactly what they were looking for and they would never look any deeper
Lucky for Akira, she didn't going crazy have a spoiled rich father and scorned mother, both are sociopath. Her coldness and snark retort are her fortress, but I'm glad that in the end she, like Jacob, can balance both her sides and make amends with her past.
A Gentleman in the Street also one of dirty book (Akira is shameless afterall. And Jacob's fantasies about her is so raunchy!) I'd read this year. A warning first, this have voyeurism, menage, a little f/f and mild BDSM. But, despite the hot level, I can feel the tenderness between Akira and Jacob. When they don't busy bantering with each other, therefore make their sexual tension rocketed up, their cozy moments also make my heart melts.
Oh, also I really love the family theme that Ms Rai feature in a Gentleman in the Street. I love the dynamic between Campbell's family, especially from Jacob's younger siblings. I also praise that Ms Rai don't sugarcoated Akira's relationship with her scorned mother. Make it more real and also show that not all parents love their children dearly, but on the bright side, she also input her insight that people choose their own family. And Akira choose Jacob.
I think everyone who love a good and hot romance should read this book. And yeah, the reverse thing between the hero and heroine is very fresh. Because I'm so tired to read an alpha CEO hero "deflower" a naive or virgin librarian or secretary or something like that heroine :p.

That quote make me stunned. And when I saw the cover, if I'm not read the blurb first, I will never guess 4 stars
Heroes don't always have swords..
That quote make me stunned. And when I saw the cover, if I'm not read the blurb first, I will never guess that Ein is a bdsm, with GLBT characters. I admit that GLBT theme make me uneasy and well, not my cup of tea, while menage never bothered me. But well, I decide to read this, because I'm so curious like a cat drawed by catnips and request this on NetGalley.
The first words make me go.. wow..
Seraiya- naked, bound to her bed- the silk hair ribbons tying her more securely than any coarse rope. Because she wanted to be there. To be mine
Okay, this sure get my attention. And so begin my journey with Einan, also known as Ein Dustmother. Told from the first POV, Ein is about Einan journey from her study at Servants at Peace, her struggle to keep her lover Seraiya to marry to another man than mistakenly kidnapped by her abductor. This, when she meet Ruel, her Sir, a man who taught her that pain is a pleasure and awake her submissive side (she always be dominant with Seraiya).
Yet, destiny can be so cruel for Ruel died when defend Einan and Einan wake up to find that she heavily pregnant with Ruel's child. Fortunately she have Gran who saved her and Bael, a child who later become her own child and inspired her to take poor child who are Dust. Dust are the lower caste in Guthia, a place Einan lived. Another obstacle then throw to Einan when she find that she must trade her body to a cruel man to save her children. But then, Ein never give up. And like the quote of the cover of this book, in the end Ein and her beloved folks become heroes. Without swords.
If we put aside the GLBT theme and BDSM (yes, this book is so heavy on BDSM), what happen in Ein is very much happen in our world. Human trafficking, child molestation, women who whored herself because they don't have choice to save their dear ones. Ein almost bring me tears, for I feel that life was so cruel to her. Ein is not a damsel in distress, yet when she tortured out of her will I hope that Ruel will finally alive and help Ein again. I will not spoil this, but well, in the end Ein have her own HEA. With her lovers of course.
Sometimes I think Ein can be too forgiving and blaming herself over and over, especially when she make a drastic decision and did something horrible. She also considered herself as a whore and I want to shake her that what she did was necessary. She just.. I don't know if people like Ein exist anymore. I'm stunned to see her kindness, her determine to help people and her strong will.
I know that some people will feel uncomfortable when reading Ein because the BDSM content,same-sex relationship between Ein and Seraiya, and how Seraiya's husband Magnusin do not bother to share his wife with Ein. Their lovemaking make me blush and fanning myself. But also show two side of Ein, her become dominant and submissive when it comes to Ruel as her Sir. I think this matter addresed beautifully and make sense. But I have a little bit complain. I feel that Seraiya somehow too childish, and well she have so many blessing and love, either its from Ein or her husband Magnusin. While Ein was so tortured :(.
Because Ein is so much a fantasy book (with a hint of dystopia), I always paid attention to the world building and the history. So basically there are 2 country at wars, Cedesian and Guthian. Cedesian folks are cruel but their people also intermarried with Guthian people. Cedesian also can wield magic, show by Web, one of Einan's foster children (Einan have like 20 children, 2 are her own children, the rest are dust children that left by their parents). Ein and so many people in Guthian worship Yoel, a Goddess of Peace, and sometimes Ein think that the Goddess speak to her. The fantasy and magic part just a little, becaue Ms Black concern to the humanity aspect, but it still make the story rich.
So, if you are open-minded enough and not easily disturbed with erotica and violence content of Ein, I suggest to read this book. Well, I think everyone must read Ein, for some part of this book is very much connected with our world, and you can skip the erotic part.
...sometimes you have to stop taking care of other people and take care of yourself so you have more to give everyone later

Another great installment to Sinners on Tour series. Might be a little weird since Jace's book supposed to released early before Double Time (or Trey's). But that's the publisher decision. Olivia Cunning make me love The Sinners boys again and again, and now she make Jace and Eric finally understand each other.
The D/s scenes is very hot but read how Jace struggle to let go his past and his demon with Aggie's help really break my heart. Aggie also have mummy issues and its so delightful to read how they solve their problem.
Sinners on Tour will always be my favorite erotica series, and Olivia Cunning is my favorite authors. I'm glad the publisher still use sexy cover that feature a couple. Not make it like some re-realeased of erotica novels that just have one image and one color. Boring, IMO. I would love to read more about Sinners and I hope Ms Cunning not just end the series with Trey's. Maybe she can expand the story, lol. No anything weird happen in this book, just voyeurism scene from Eric (like usual). The D/s scene is still can be read and will not make you uncomfortable.
The next is Eric's book in Wicked Beat. And since I like reading in orders, I will read Trey's after Eric's :).
If you love reading erotic story that full of sappy romance, don't read this.
If you love HEA at your booFavorite quote : "God, I love a man who reads"
If you love reading erotic story that full of sappy romance, don't read this.
If you love HEA at your books, don't read this.
But, if you love read a book with plot that so emotional even its don't have HEA, Seven Day Loan might be the solution for your problems
Seven Day Loan is story about Eleanore (who I realize, she will become the main character of The Siren), a trained submissive who had been loaned to her master's friend, Daniel, for seven days. Daniel, a Dominant, is widower whose his wife had died for 3 years ago and prisoning himself at his home. First, they just fuck each other, until Eleanore find out that Daniel is librarian, much like her. They start arrange his book, knowing each other beside fucking, and the seven days start running without anybody can stop it. Eleanore find out she can't leave Daniel, but she can't leave her Master too. Even Daniel said to her to not leave him, Eleanor afraid. If all she can do is just to say.. no.
Almost weep. That's one of my reaction when reading this novella. I just read one of Tiffany Reisz book, Immersed in Pleasure and I'm already hooked. I love her voice, her way with words, and how romantic that book even its labeled as erotica. Seven Day Loan is the opposite. There's no romance, there's no HEA, but then there's love. Because love is sometime need no HEA. Eleanor's love to Daniel is different from her love to her Master, but its still love. I know some readers will find this book is not romantic at all, but I don't mind with it. In the end you can't help to love both characters, Eleanore and Daniel.
BTW there something that maybe will offended readers like (view spoiler)[The fisting scene that make me cringed, but other sex scenes is okay with me (hide spoiler)]
Overall, I will recommend this to anyone who love erotica that have plot, interesting character and doesn't mind with no HEA. Tiffany Reisz again prove herself to be one of promising and the rising star of erotica authors!

The definition of DNF : Do Not Finish.
After reading half part of this book, I give up! God, help me. I can't bear this any longer and need to bleach my mind after reading the humility and stupidity that is The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty.
Or,is it The Spanking of Sleeping Beauty?.
The Prince aka Captain Spank remind me a lot of Jeoffrey from Games of Thrones. Wonder if George.R.R.Martin got his inspiration from this one? Beauty herself has courage, but what she do? When the Captain Spank order her to do humiliating things, she just do it. Kiss me, Beauty. Put your hand behind your neck, Beauty. Don't you dare to glance to other male slave, Beauty. Blah, blah, blah. All in the name of love and tenderness, gaaaaah!!
Someone must punish, spank, forbid A.N Roquelaure or Anne Rice to write this one. Such a waste of paper, money and time #snicker.

Even I love reading erotica, there some lines that I'm not dare to cross it yet. Especially for same genre loving, gay and lesbian. Joey W Hill can write a good story, emotional and intense. But this one just too much for me. I read Thomas and Marcus first sex scene, when Marcus punish Thomas for leaving him. And I can forced my self to read it. But when they go to BDSM club, that's it. I can't continue reading.
I guess, it took a big courage to read gay and lesbian story. Since its still taboo at my culture. I think I will stick to menage erotica, while its have m-m scene, I can enjoy it. Maybe because its not the main focus of the story, and usually both men both love the woman. I can accept that....more

Okay,I finally decide to read the overhyped and overfamous Fifty Shades of Grey. Yes, the curiousity finally won. I do read it because I want to know the hype and knowing the book will be translated in my country, Indonesia. So yeah, before the translator kinda messed this up cencored it, I must know and read the original content. I'm happy to have some friends who doing buddy read with me. And after almost two slow and torturous weeks, I am decide to make the list.
This is my list :
FIFTY REASONS WHY FIFTY SHADES OF GREY IS REALLY FIFTY SHADES OF F*CKED UP
(in no particular order)
1. Anastasia Steele, aka Ana is sooo remind me of Bella Swan from Twilight. Some of her habits mirror Bella, such as biting her lips and tuck her hair behind her ear.
UPDATE : Emma Watson is prime candidate to become Ana. Are she just lost her Hermione's brain? C'mon there's more intellectual role than this one
2. Ana is the master of klutz, super awkward and low self-esteem. Always praise her friend Katherine Kavanagh prettier than her. Esp when she got flu. I never know people that still look gorgeous even she had a pox flu.
3. 21 years old Ana, live in 21th century, a student-almost-graduated from Washington, and she don't have her own email!!! Ana, you live at America or stone cave?
4. Now, from Christian. He like to cocked his head at one side. Wonder his neck not break yet .__.
5. Both parties (Ana and Christian) love to murmur, whisper, mutter, bla bla bla. Can't said anything clearly, you two?
6. Ana have triple personality. Herself, her subconcious, and her famous Inner Goddess. What's the difference? Dunno.
7. Based on my theory, Ana's subconcious is her rational side. Her inner goddess is her slutty side. But sometimes there no difference between these two personalities. Oh, and the inner goddess is very gymnastic! She can do salsa, pirouette, etc. Wonder when she will do yodel.
8. Instead just 2 main characters, we have FOUR main characters. Ana "klumsy" Steele", Christian "irritating" Grey, Ana's subconcious and Ana's Inner Goddess.
9. When Ana interviewing Christian, she not check the list first before she ask him. Uh oh, not smart move, Ana. You ask if Christian gay and blame Kate because its HER who make the list. You are too arrogant (or nervous) to check it first.
10. Read this book, like reading a junior high school student's diary. A whimpy, whiny junior high shool student.
11. Christian is stalker. Nuff 'said.
12. So many exaggerate sentences. Example : "He looks lost somehow, and the Earth shifts slightly on its axis, the tectonic plates sliding into a new position."
13. When a hunky man give his phone number, its mean he attracted to the girl. Ana do a annoying job with constantly refuse it (even she finally accept).Play hard to get just to be failed in the end.
14. Ana's dreams about Christian remind me of Bella's dreams about Edward.
15. Fifty's basic theme, when an ordinary girl attracted to dangerous hero is overused. Get another theme, please.
16. Many contradictive sentences, like " I am going to have coffee with Christian Grey... and I hate coffee". Then why follow him?Oh wait, she can get the coffee for free! #sarcasm
17 The second exaggaratte sentences: "I’m in the street, and Christian Grey is holding my hand. No one has ever held my hand". Umm really? No one? Not even your Mum or Dad?
18 Ana is never been kissed for her entire life! All change after Christian come. Oh, yeah!! I forget she live at stone cave. #rollingeyes
[image]
19. No need to use "medulla oblongata" to describe your brain, Ana! Fifty is just contemporer novel not science fiction!
20. I always hate when Christian smirk. Heroes at my romancelandia don't smirk! It's degrading.
21 Christian analogy of moth and flame like Edward's analogy of lion and lamb.
22. Why the hero always angry when the heroine is virgin? Why? Why?
23. The contract thingie even its used to guarantee Ana's safety, is so harassing, IMO. And I never read Ana sign the contract until the ending.
24. Ana-Christian's first sex scene make me rolling my eyes. Ana just feel hurt a little, then have the best orgasm is her life. Oh, and she just feel a little sore.
25. Ana has a grade A in oral skills. And this is from a virgin heroine that never have sex experience before.
26. This book should be titled Fifty Shades of Theres. C'mon! Ana using vagina and clitoris words before. And since many people said this is mommy porn, using female organ terms are okay. Not just... there .
27. Christian is alpha male? I'm agree with you Jodie. Alpha male not gasp like a girl when he look his woman using his underwear. Like what Christian do. He's gasp.
28. Jose, Ana's close friend? He kinda remind me of Jacob Black #smackhead #Twilightagain
29. Again, I don't like the contract between Ana and Christian. Very humiliating! And soo long. I'm getting bored when read it .__. .
30. Christian always said to Ana to keep eat, eat and eat. I know you being hungry when you are child, Christian, but you are not Ana's Mommy. You also control how long she sleep, what clothes she wear. Oh yes, Christian the control-freak!
31. What good quality from Christian beside he being millionaire, his good looking, his big junk, his appearance?
Aaah, if he look like hottie above no wonder :
But heh, his emotions are so unstable and don't forget he has stalker tendency. I don't know why women find his attractive out from his appearance. He always stalk Ana wherever she go. Girls, its not romantic. Its creepy.
Oh, don't forget, he's abuser too :(
"I'll fuck you hard if you biting your lips again, Ms Steele"
Ana's reaction :
"I'll punish you if you roll your eyes to me, Ms Steele"
My reaction :
32. Ana said Christian is anti-commitment. Uh oh, I think its you, Ana, who is anti-commitment.
33. Ana never masturbate herself. Not even when she with Christian while they doing sex. Oh, why? Is it so embarassing? You are modern woman, Ana!
34. Ana love Tess of D'Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy like Bella like to read Wuthering Height.
35. Why tortured hero like to playing piano and hearing classic music? Kinda remind me of this guy :
36. Ana don't have Blackberry, don't have her own phone, don't have her own computer. What in era do you live in, Ana? #shakeshead. Oh, I forget she live at stone cave #sarcasm
37. Ana emailing Christian using her Mac. So not practice. And why emailing? Can't they using text message?
38. I enjoy email changing between Ana and Christian. But,the more I read it, the more I think its childish and annoying. And the way Christian using his title as the founder? Irritating.Me.A.Lot.
39. I can't said the BDSM scenes are otentic. Christian using BDSM to channel his anger. Not to release the burden of his submissive or just... plaything. I'm curious if the author maybe just knowing BDSM from net, or not enough research?
The question answered Turn up E.L.James just knowing BDSM from Wikipedia, from someone and online chat with submissive.
40. The scene when Christian (view spoiler)[pulled the tampon from Ana's body and do sex when she on her period! (hide spoiler)] is so sick. So... not erotic. Its disgusting. And (view spoiler)[ Do E.L.James know that act can result in death? Or she just think when she write that particular scene "oh, readers will love it. They'll feel scandalous". Me not
And Ana still can be pregnant, even she's on the pill. (hide spoiler)]
41. The main conflict? I doubt there's a MAIN CONFLICT. I expect someone kidnap Ana and get rid of her for good (just kidding). Its just (view spoiler)[ Ana left Christian, because Christian can't give her his love.Oh, the horor!! (hide spoiler)]
42. The ending? What with that kind of ending? Its mean, I must read the next books? Nooooooo!!
The amount of the repetitive words (maybe I got the wrong number when count it, oh crap!) :
43. Inner goddess : 56 times
44. Subconscious :85 times
45. Holy : 160 times and its variation : Holy cow, holy crap, holy shit, holy fuck, holy Moses, holy mackerel.
46. oh my and oh no : 130 times
47. crap, double crap, oh crap : 56 times
and another but I'm so tired to count lol! Like : Jezz, shit, fuck, biting lips, cocked head at one side, hanging low in his waist, grey, fifty, yada, yada, yada
Now, I must write 3 more to reach Fifty. Let's we do it! :
48.Christian's name kinda remind me of my childhood friend who have same name and annoying personality. Maybe that's one reason I can't like him. (lol, this is just private reason ^_^)
49. Instead of empowering women sexuality, you can read this when you have insomniac. A lullaby book rather than mommy porn, indeed.
50.The last, what the meaning of Fifty Shades actually? Please somebody tell me, I don't have a clue!
Okay, did I miss any? Or maybe someone can add things that I missed to write? Please tell me, I will add it to the list.
Bottom line, I don't like Fifty Shades of Grey. Not just the resemblance with Twilight even just some part. Its the immature writing style. Its the immature characterization for both main characters. Its the not so well written BDSM part of this book. I never know why this book is so popular #shakeshead. But then I always have a bad luck with overhyped books.
I hope the next book will be better. If not? Oh, don't worry I have friends to do buddy read. Who want suffer with me together while reading this series, lol! XD
- Goodreads friends who recommendation this book to me years ago. So sorry I can't enjoy this like you all do :(.
-#FiftyUnited members (in no particular order) : Alvina, A.S Dewi, SeksiyHippo and Desty who "suffer" together with me while reading this book. Chance I'll DNF this in the first chapter if only we not encourage each other to read together until finish.
This is some case for Don't Judge The Book by Its Cover Sure, the cover really hot, and sexy, and maybe make some readers uncomfortable to read, but This is some case for Don't Judge The Book by Its Cover Sure, the cover really hot, and sexy, and maybe make some readers uncomfortable to read, but trust me, Centurion's Capture have a great story, even its considered erotica, it have plot and I enjoy read this even just novella.
Centurion's Capture is 3rd book of Imperial Desire series, and the event take place 2 year after the 2nd book Centurion's Vow, or 5 years after Centurion's Honor. We first meet Olivia Septinius at Centurion's Honor, still a girl, a former slave of Anan Septinius, the heroine. But then, Anan free her, and Olivia become an independent woman. She have a crush for Claudius Ovidius, Anan's friend and Gaius Ovidius's father (from Centurion's Vow). He's at his late forties and even though now Olivia is twenty two, not a girl anymore, a mature woman, even Claudius desire her, he still avoid Olivia, scared she can't fulfill his dark desires...
But its change after Claudius discovered Olivia at The Cave, a place for indulge carnal pleasures. Olivia insisted she want to learn what happen at The Cave. Claudius tell, Olivia still virgin, untrained, she doesn't know what she talk about and asking. So, Olivia dared Claudius to show her, and dare him that she can fulfill his dark desires, something that make Claudius afraid. He can't resist at the last, and succumb to Olivia's desire. But with their widely age gap, they can't avoid the gossip about their affair, and Claudius still haunting by his past, since he believe because his sexual preference his wife died. Now, Claudius must think and act fast, to still suffer or decide to free himself from his demon, if he doesn't want lose Olivia...
Centurion's Captured not as good as the previous books, Centuriion's Vow, but I enjoy the story. Its good to see how Claudius and Olivia make their relationship work. We will know about Olivia pain when Claudius avoid meet her, like she never exist. Of course that hurt, but we can't blame Claudius, since he believe his act for Olivia's goodness. I'm glad even they have a widely age gap (20 years, give and take),their relationship not awkward. Nadia Aidan can write their story so beautiful and help us knowing deeply about them. There are cameo of some characters from previous books, make readers know what happen to them after their story told.
This book considered erotica, yes. There are BDSM scene and Anal sex, but its mild, IMO. The strength of this novella is the story, how love can passed the age gap, how love can redeemed soul.
If you love unusual historical setting and erotica with plot, Imperial Desires series by Nadia Aidan can't be missed. ...more
Note : Contain male/male scene, some BDSM scene and anal sex, that may make reader offended. You've been warned :)
The second book of Imperial Desire Note : Contain male/male scene, some BDSM scene and anal sex, that may make reader offended. You've been warned :)
The second book of Imperial Desire series
The event of Centurion's Honor take place 3 years after the first book Centurion's Honor, and tell the story about Gaius Ovidius, the centurion commander from Cassius and Titus, heroes from Centurion's Honor.
Nivea Tibernius had suffered a passionless marriage and bear no children, so she hope, her next wedding with Flavius Cicero will make her happy, content and she will have her own children. At last he is rich, wealth and have status. What more Nivea can ask? But when she hear discussion about her wedding, about Flavius uncommon sexual appetite, she curious and intrigue. She considered herself as passionless and frigid woman, so she approach man who gossiping about her, offer him to teach her, how to pleasures men in bed.
The man is Gaius Ovidius, and of course he surprised when know about Nivea's offering. Gaius himself still broken heart after break up with his lover, Leviticus. He regret, even he enjoy pleasures with that young soldier, he just can't love him. He enjoy men and women, but it seems Gaius just can love women. When he accept Nivea's offering, to teach that woman, about pleasure, he never expected to falling in love for her. Gaius have his own problem. He's not rich, he is a second son of a wealthy man, be don't have anything to offer to Nivea, money, status, just one thing, his love.
But, isn't love Gaius offer to Nivea? While he struggling with his demon from the past, pain because love another woman, and then have his own heart torn apart? While Nivea doubt him and her heart too, even she want to marry Flavius, her heart beating just for Gaius only. But Gaius can't give anything what she want, mostly important is children, since Gaius always doubt himself, afraid he can't make his own family happy, because his status. And, yet, he begging Nivea not to wed Flavius, tell her he not suitable for Nivea. Who will Nivea choose at last? Flavius who offer her security and possibilities of children, or Gaius who held her heart, who make Nivea longing to loving and cherish marriage life?
I want to give this fully 5 stars, because I really love the story, but there some part that make me don't like. First is, Gaius sexual orientation. Gaius love men and women, search pleasures from both, but admit he just can love women. For me, its weird. I'm myself not comfortable with m/m scene or gay love, but sometime, its break my heart when Gaius break up with his lover, Letivicus, simply because he can't love him, while Leviticus love Gaius.
But enough of that part. Centurion's Vow is better than the 1st. The story more emotional and heart wrecking. We can see how Gaius and Nivea struggle with their desire and love to each other. Sure their love is forbidden, sure they have so many differences, but Nadia Aidan can tell their story with beautiful word, her words are flowing and tell us how the character's feeling deeply. I know some erotica just have sex, sex and sex, the plot is meh, the story poorly written, but not with this book. What make this one interesting, sure there are HEA, but that doesn't mean problem solved. Gaius still face his own demon, still learn how to love , and how Nivea vow to make Gaius not endure his painful past again. And Rome setting is a bonus. It interesting to read historical romance while the setting is outside England :)
Love watch Spartacus? (heh, lol), love unusual historical setting, erotica with good plot, emotional and make you wish you have Kleneex beside you? Just put Centurion's Vow at your wishlist....more
The first book of Brown Sibling, featured the middle child Review also posted at SER's Awesomness.
He kissed her, feeling laid bare before her.
The first book of Brown Sibling, featured the middle child Erin Brown, and her lovers, Todd Keenan and Ben Copeland.
The story begin 10 years ago.Erin Brown and Todd Keenan have a relationship when their at their twenties (Erin 24, Todd, not sure). Erin is a lady rocker while Todd just a plain cop, but Erin already have a crush for her neighbor and know Todd try to hid his true desire. Bold as you please,Erin tell Todd to release at all, but Todd always refuse it. Finally they broke up and make Erin broken heart too.
Back to present day, Todd just divorced from his wife, retired from his cop duty and start security business with Copeland Brothers, Ben and Andrew. Todd no longer like himself 10 years ago. He embrace his sexuality, to domination his partner at bed. But now he surprised to find Erin had change. Once a musician, now Erin own a cafe and have a scar, not just outside but inside her heart. Lost her child and nearly died after attacked by her stalker, Erin now become paranoid, traumatized, but more mature than 10 years before. Now its time for Todd to renew their relationship and to make Erin whole again. And this time not just Todd who love Erin, Ben, Todd's partner want Erin too, and doesn't mind share her. How they manage their "menage" or triad life in front of people and their family since its such unusual relationship? Can Erin's wound heal so she can love again, not just Todd but Ben as well? How Ben place himself, since he just a 3rd person at their life?
Laid Bare is my first Lauren Dane's book. And I enjoy this one. I read Laid Bare until 6.00 a.m this morning (wow!) and feel satisfied. This book is erotica, and I guess its will not have a plot, esp when I read some early part. Guess I'm wrong.
10 years ago, both Erin and Todd is young and they do what they want. I like Erin at this time, she confident with her sexuality, while Todd not. I expect a boring plot when they start having sex again and again, but then the story move forward to 10 years later and I'm stunned. Sure, Todd and Erin still making out, but this time, they more mature, and Todd want to heal Erin's heart. I love when no need a long time for them to say love. Sometimes I get antsy, when the hero and heroine tell love. Sometimes too early (and make me rolled my eyes).Sometimes they said it near the end and I already exhausted to wait, lol. When Todd said love to Erin, its feel natural, same when Erin finally can said it. I love how Ms Dane not forced their relationship, build it slowly but sure.
I almost cry when knowing Erin's past, when she lost her baby. How she feel depressed and defeated, lost at drug and booze. Lucky for her , she have her brothers, Brody and Adrian to drag her, to make her normal and whole again. Even when she have problem with Todd, Brody and Adrian stand for her.I love the solidity of Brown siblings, maybe because they already lost their parent when they still a child, so they protect each other.
The other part I love is Ben Copeland. Ben is bisexual,so he love men and women. He had a triad (or menage) life before. He doesn't mind sharing Erin with Todd, but he feel uncomfortable to Todd. He love Todd, not just as friend, more that that, but they already become friend for long. Erin who unite them all. Even when they'd settled, problem not always solved. At people and law's eyes, triad life is unusual, Erin can't married Todd and Ben both. So she married Todd, because Todd is her first love. This is when new problem began, how they convicted people around and their family, Ben is important for them too. Ms Dane write it so beautiful, but logical. Readers will satisfied with how Ben solved his problem.
There are some BDSM scene, but its so light. What I love is, even Todd and Ben have domination characteristic, they both gentle and caring to Erin. I don't mind alpha hero, but sometimes get irritated for them, because they act like chauvinistic pig and sometimes hurt the heroine. Ben and Todd choose to hurt themself rather than hurt Erin. They spoiled her, and who doesn't want 2 hot men to care for you in the same time?
I want to give this 5 stars, but there are some part I dislike, like sometime Ms Dane seems prolong some part, while I found its not necessary. And I think when a story almost end, there a new problem again. But overall, Laid Bare is a good story. Its not just an usual love story, its not just an usual erotica romance. Its story about family, its story about how love can heal you, how love can make you face your life even its hard, because you know you have people you love at your side.
Kudos to Ms Dane, and I can't wait to read Brody's story at Coming Undone
Note : - I really love the cover, Erin's backside tattoo is cool and great - This book have a menage scene, but there's no anal sex. Have a m/m scene but just a little (kissing)...more
