Unfortunately this novel just didn’t work for me. The drive from Lubbock to Albuquerque was the longest ride ever and it should only take Dnf at 70%.
Unfortunately this novel just didn’t work for me. The drive from Lubbock to Albuquerque was the longest ride ever and it should only take about 5 hours. I kept wishing Cait would put the petal to the metal and get it over with!
I had my suspicions throughout and am perfectly ok not knowing. I loved this authors prior novel and am sad that this one left much to be desired. I think this is the case of my being the wrong reader for this novel.

Unfortunately this book just didn't work for me. I thought the story was extremely slow - I kept waiting for something to happen and it did not. I also found the main character of Libby to be insipid. Though this is coined as a mystery/suspense, I think it is more of a domestic drama/domestic noir - that said, had I continued on, perhaps my thoughts on that would change. I am an outlier here - as all other reviewers give this one top marks so please don't go by my review.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Harper Collins and Claire Douglas for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. ...more

I had previously read two books by Chevy Stevens and abuse type storylines appear to be her niche. I am not impressed. This was despicable.
I always do my utmost to finish a book but listen to the audiobook brought forth feelings in me that made me ill, palms sweaty. Stomach rolling. I have read several books by authors about abuse I admit that I gravitate towards them but Chevy Stevens does not handle them with care. I will never read or listen to one of her books ever again....more
