Stepehenson hizo un enorme trabajo de investigación. Y hay tanto concepto filológico y metalógico metido que creo que rayé todo el libro. A todo le encuentras sentido. Dioses babilónicos, código binario, religión, glosolalia, asesinos y el Metaverso.
Un 'nam-shub' es un conjunto de palabras que posee fuerza mágica. El equivalente más cercano sería «encantamiento», pero esta palabra tiene varias connotaciones erróneas. El Metaverso es una estructura ficticia hecha de programas. Y los programas no son sino una forma del habla: una que los ordenadores pueden entender. El Metaverso en su conjunto podría considerarse como un único e inmenso 'nam-shub', que se pronuncia a sí mismo sobre la red de fibra óptica.
Y una cosa esta clara: T.A. tiene un deathwish más grande que ella.
