Anders and Rayna as siblings have such a special relationship (a great love for each other and wanting nothing more than the other by their side!) and when something neither of them are expecting brings them apart, I loved how Anders works tirelessly to lengths that even surprised himself to have Rayna back in his company.
I really enjoyed how family was explored in this book; from Anders and Rayna as siblings to how the pack is seen as a family that Anders struggles with coming to terms with. Anders grew so much in this book and I’m really excited to see how things will pick up again in the next story.

Overall, I found this poetry collection to be a good one. There were some that seemed more like fillers than a full piece for this book, but I found many of the poems to be touching and would be interested in seeing what this author releases in the future.
(One of my favorite poems in the book)
There are two glasses that are half-empty, that think they can complete each other. But every time they go into each other’s glasses, they lose themselves completely. That’s the catch: You can’t be anyone else’s half. You need to fill yourself up, so you can be two glasses clinking and toasting, enjoying one another....more

I’ll be honest, I found the three perspectives hard to follow at first, and I really had to take my time to fully grasp the depths of this story (though this could have completely been entirely on my part due to my mental health not being in the best of places during my reading experience). I found the characters to be hard hitting when it came to expressing their feelings (especially Brooke’s!) and the writing style was so well done. The characters were dynamic and complex, and the writing style overall was good in my opinion. However, towards the end of the book, I ultimately just became very confused. I understand that there was tension between Kara, Prescott, and Olivia in terms of them all having feelings for one another, but Prescott and Kara almost sleeping together when Olivia is scared to death of what Kara is insistent on doing (meeting someone who’s connected to one of the prisoners she’s written to) and asks Prescott to check on her? Once this came into play, the end of this book just felt like a completely different story to me and brought my levels of enjoyment I had had with this story down....more

This book is a very complex one. I found myself really needing to take my time to read this because I wanted to truly understand what the story the author worked to tell was. I found the writing style to be very well done, even though I personally found the political aspects of the book a bit confusing at first (I did grow the understand it better as the story continued on though!). The characters were dynamic and I often found myself wondering what their next moves were going to be (especially in Ayla’s case!) and I just really enjoyed getting to see their story unfold!...more

I really enjoyed this! The characters were well written and it’s such a fun storyline that you can’t help but get sucked in. I know little to nothing about basketball and found this was easy to understand even with the amount of knowledge I have when it comes to the sport.
However, that cliffhanger is something I wasn’t prepared for and now I’m really curious to see how the story will continue on!...more

This collection of poetry was beautifully done. There’s so much that’s showcased in this collection (from body image, love, and the understanding of the complexity relationships can have.) that I truly had so much that was written stand out in my mind because I related to the messages the author was getting across in my own way. It discusses race, anxiety, grief, and so much more in such a honest way that I had to reread some pieces at times because I wanted to be sure that the words had sunk in. This story is one I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Chris and Maia as characters were so well written and real that I could truly see their summer unfold as the book went on. I really appreciated getting to see how Maia’s family handled her sister’s death and how grief is a complicated thing that we (as people in general) find difficult to understand and come to terms with.
I found the ending to be very bittersweet and I completely understand the author’s intention with it because at the end of the day, not every story is going to have a perfectly tied bow at the end to wrap everything up....more

Annalise as a character reminded me of myself in many ways, and I can not thank the author enough for being so honest about how anxiety can feel.
